How Your Ball Position Can Influence How You Hit the Golf Ball
Are you struggling with inconsistent ball striking, flipping your wrists at impact, or losing distance? In this video, we dive deep into how your ball position plays a crucial role in how you strike the golf ball, compress the ball, and maximize your power. Whether you’re trying to hit the golf ball longer, stop swaying in your golf swing, or improve your contact, getting the correct ball position can make all the difference.
Having the wrong ball position can lead to fat shots, thin shots, slices, hooks, and even early extension. We’ll show you exactly where to position the ball including drills and a simple process to practice at home to create a more powerful, consistent strike. You’ll also learn how to stop flipping your wrists in the golf swing, which leads to weak, inconsistent shots. Instead, we’ll help you achieve proper shaft lean and compression for a tour-level ball flight.
If you’ve been looking for golf instruction that actually makes a difference, this video is packed with golf tips, drills, and lessons to improve your swing today. Learn how to fix your ball position, gain control over your golf swing, and finally compress the golf ball like the pros.

This really helps! Thanks TJ.
Ok that's good for the seven Iron so why do they say move the ball more forward from center on your 3,4,5,6, why would you change the center of ark on those irons.🤔
Do you have a practice set up at home? Net, putting mat or even a simulator. Let me know below! 👇

I have a BLP and a net in the garage. Plus a putting mat in the office. Great explanations TJ
I have always practice ball position but you are right, I don’t see most golfers practice ball position or setup
I have a SKYTRAK simulator at home and as soon as I completely heal from my left rotator cuff and bisep muscle tear I will l schedule a remote session. I can swing now but I still have some weakness in my left arm which may be affecting my swing. For example I am 72 years old but can swing my 9 iron around 77-81 mph but can only swing the driver 88-91 mph which I think should be faster compared to my 9 iron speed. Do you agree?
Mike
Really liked this video. Did get me thinking. I NEVER practice this and I guess I have assumed it was ok….I have a wellputt putting mat at home and a net in the yard. Thinking of getting a low priced launch monitor. Any ideas? Ted
The light bulb comment you made is why I watch videos like this. They get you thinking. Super enjoy that aspect. I have a set up at home to hit balls as well as a small outdoor putting green. Keep up the good work.
It’s funny this popped up on my feed because I was not a subscriber. I couple rounds ago I was chunking the ball a lot. I got so frustrated I kept moving the ball back in my stance (knowing it was a bandaid). I was on full tilt. I told my much better playing partner what I was doing. It worked for one or two shots, then I was chunking again. I couldn’t understand it. My playing partner said, “do the opposite of what you are doing, move it forward, I want you to feel like you are chasing the ball through impact.” I moved it about an inch forward of center and suddenly it was night and day difference. I was scratching my head. Since then I even launched a 3 wood at the proper trajectory( haven’t done ever). I couldn’t believe it was so simple, yet so counterintuitive. My athleticism was working against me with the ball back. I must have been throwing the club early, hanging back, and chopping down. Moving the ball actually changed my swing. It also brought to mind my best friend in high school who won the state championship. I remember being amazed at how far forward his ball looked, yet every shot was equal to the purest shot I’ve ever hit. Now to dial it in for my swing. Thanks for confirming what has been working for me.
Hi TJ, I have used the same set up as you for years ! What’s the process of signing up for your give away?
I have to admit I never practice ball position (or my set up) I am going to do this while watching the USA Canada game today. Maybe it’s the reason I fall back a bit.
I don’t have a space to practice full swing at home but my club is up the street. I do have a mat that I putt on. Do you think the putting mats actually help. I use it a lot but my on course putting never seems to translate.
What about the perpendicular distance from the line between your toes? I find that standing too far away is often a problem for me
I do have sim at home but never practice that but I am the guy that moves the ball back because of chunky shots so new drill to do
Great advice! My first year I would catch myself moving the ball back.
