In the second round of The Genesis Invitational 2025, Scottie Scheffler pulled his tee shot 50 yards left of the green at the par-3 11th hole. His ball settled in the rough adjacent to the 12th tee box. After a Temporary Immovable Object (TIO) ruling, Scheffler was granted relief and took a drop on the 12th tee box. From there, Scheffler hit his second shot to 3 feet, setting up a par save to stay at 2-under for the tournament.

The West Coast Swing concludes at The Genesis Invitational. However, this year, out of respect for the victims of the recent wildfires in the Greater Los Angeles Area in January, the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course serves as the temporary stage for the third Signature Event of the season, which hosted The Farmer’s Insurance Open a few weeks ago. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama returns to defend his title from 2024 where he stormed back Sunday with a 9-under 62 after starting six shots off the lead. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will be competing, along with Rory McIlroy, who is coming off his win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Other big names playing include Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark and Sweden’s Ludvig Åberg.

  1. I don’t understand how gets to drop and put it in play twice. Besides, I thought I was line of sight nearest relief.

  2. his ball landed in the rough, he should have taken relief, a club length back in the rough, I though relief had to be taken in the same texture, the rules state one cannot change texture,i.e from rough to tee or fairway??????

  3. If they can move a (loose impediment) bolder for Tiger, they should have just moved the sign over a few feet for Scottie. He didn’t deserve a perfect level lie on the tee box.

  4. Cheating is the only name for it . A ball in heavy rough is dropped out onto a perfect fairway lie is not fair and cheating . I don’t blame sheffler but it’s cheating no mere no less . The mid rule must be changed . Anybody embedded in heavy rough must drop only in similar rough no more no less . Allowing a hoarding there was stupid and is creating this cheating . Dustin Johnson Tiger Woid moving the big rock also legally cheated . Stupid . Unfair .

  5. But he didnt take relief away from the flag. He chose to take relief towards the obstruction and take another relief. I smell BS

  6. How does he not play for the rough on the original spot? What a load of rubbish these professionals get relief from.

  7. "Scottie's hook on 11
The usual Scottie random swing. He pulls his feet back. His grip is a hook grip, which this time started the rotation in his left forearm and the power reflex in his right arm was too strong. Cause: the ‘random injury method’. Knee and pelvis imbalanced.
We at Core Balance Free Release have not only eliminated the double rotation in the left forearm, but the grip with the right hand is such that the natural power reflex has been eliminated. We also have pelvic and knee balance. We do a synchronized swing rotation. We don't do hooks or slices.” Frank Drollinger, developer of the new Core Balance Free Release method with significant competitive advantages!

  8. Can’t wait for the MAGA Saudi Blood Money to get involved, what a beautiful white sport.
