Don’t build a swing that relies on timing and guessing. Build a golf swing that works every time!

99% of golfers learn the wrong way to swing in their first few lessons. This causes them to struggle with golf for a long time. Few golfers find the way out and go on to play their best golf ever. However, most remain stuck in an endless cycle of frustration that keeps them from achieving their golf goals. Don’t be like the 99% who will be stuck. Be the part of the group that breaks free from the bondage of bad golf.

Today’s lesson takes out the nonsense in your swing and replaces it with “the good stuff”. It’s the stuff that works every time you do it. There’s no fluff. No guessing. Just straight up physics and geometry. LAWS. Laws work every time you do them.

  1. Hi Tom, I recently watched one of your videos and you shared an (i believe a side by side front view) illustration of driver vs. iron. Do you recall which video this may have been? Thanks!

  2. Excellent Tom. I have the will to become a WILL golfer and eventually owning my swing finally. You have been a great instructor. Warm weather in Jersey is few months away 😢. Cheers, Emil

  3. Weight to the front leg (Dont Sway)
    Arms together
    Trail armpit tucked (dont disengage)
Lead arm palm down to the ground at the top of the swing
    Rip the hips through

  4. I find your tips useful, but it is not all in the shoulders rotation… I agree the shoulders will lead the hip in the backswing, but the hip will lead back the shoulders and arms in the downswing. It can clearly be seen in your own swing, in slowmo. You "fire your hips" a fraction before moving the upper body in the downswing… And that is the part many people struggle because we dont have the hip muscles conditioned to initiate that sequence so body gets stuck in the back and the arms swing our of position, hitting the ball or ground in funky ways.

  5. John Daley hits 300 plus.. time after time. with a When swing and a cigarette in his mouth and a hangover and little or no practice sometimes in bare feet.

  6. Your videos are awesome for the weekend warriors who are seeking a consistent repeatable golf swing. However, the golf industry profits off millions of golfers chasing a complex contradictory multilayered swing that convinces you new equipment and a different ball will solve your problems. Obviously simplicity is the answer, confusion is the money maker. Keep the great information coming⛳️

  7. What I took away from this video is that Tom is clearly prepping his look to begin filming as Buck Dharma in the the upcoming biopic "Cowbell." Release date, TBD. P.S. he specified in his contract that he would do all of his own stunts.

  8. This is a GREAT video. Discussing exactly what my – now previous – instructor was trying to teach me. he was teaching left to right ball flight, which is fine. But that meant my wrists rolling at take away and impact. yes, when I hit it right, it was effortless and felt great but that is WHEN I hit it right. Definitely going to sign up for Saguto Golf.

  9. You know as a ‘concept’ I really enjoy the whole golf thing. Hit the small ball down a lovely stretch of woods, and then on pretty green scoot the ball into a little hole. Fun. But I can say from my first lesson a pro at a local course, who quickly became bored with my lack of skill, it was just a bunch of cock your wrists – unload your wrists – stay open or shallow or … just a lot of golf jibberish. And then on YouTube I can find 10 videos saying do and another 10 saying never do that. Keep it low – cock your wrists under your belt – senior swing (I’m 68). I have kayaked open ocean – canoed rivers – climbed rock faces – played tennis – etc. The basic golf swing is just the most crazy thing I’ve tried. I like your videos but I’m just going to have to lay low until the temps get above 50deg in March.

  10. You are a superstar in the simplicity and consistency of your videos. Unlike others the message is always the same. I was definitely a “when” golfer but thanks to your guidance seem to be moving towards the “will” golfer. It’s tough to change but starting to see real progress. Keep up the good work!

  11. Thanks again for taking time away from guitar to film a great video. I have dropped my index 3 points since adopting your method. At one point in this video I thought the “man in the woods” had returned.😂

  12. https://youtu.be/9BRNv3yuT9U?si=PhqkqOnz099X4A6j verses https://youtu.be/p-abNGP1BK4?si=0eOT8hInHHmSP-jD But, I do think, also, that there are two dimensions to the shoulder turn. And, it may be that some players lean to the right simply because they are less flexible. When we think about turning the left shoulder we tend to forget that the shoulder blade plays a part; and, as a consequence a player may not engage the muscles around the shoulder blade. And, when these muscles don't work a player then topples over to the right on account of the fact that they turn from the top.

  13. Hi Tom great video
Have you thought about making a book with your lessons
Because the 5 golfers I play with are not IT savvy they can watch a YouTube but they don’t know how to use YouTube or websites so they cannot join SagutoGolf
They are all stunned with my improvement

  14. Tommy, I love the name of your swing method, concepts you call the 'Will Swing' as opposed to what so many of us amateur golfers have been taught, the 'When Swing', which has kept us in that treadmill you described as a hope that the swing I was taught by some teaching pro will get the ball flight results that he claims I should achieve but it is a rarity if at all.
This spring when the temps get warmer, I will head out to an empty field nearby or the golf range and try to perform the 'Will Swing'….sounds more simple to follow than all the instruction books I have ever read and lessons that I or my golfing friends have taken over all our years of playing, and that is approximately 50yrs for each of us! Thanks so much for explaining and demonstrating a golf swing method that involves logical reasoning combined with the laws of geometry and physics.

  15. I imagine the club as a ball at the end of a rope. I'm throwing the club behind me instead of picking it up and moving my wrists to change the direction. I'm gripping the club so it doesn't get tossed behind me. When it finally gets to the top of the swing, I shift my weight to throw the club back to the ball by pushing my weight into the lead foot. Takes a lot of thinking out of the swing and keeps it consistent throughout your clubset. Instead of drawing the circle with your wrists, you're using the momentum of the club flying away from you to draw the circle.
