Nice playing! You strategized your game successfully. I played a course, The Shadick, in New Hampshire USA 35 years ago. A beautiful course in the White Mountains with, at that time, slope of 148. The playing strategy was simple, don't go right, or left, or short, or long… anywhere. It would take a few weeks back at your home course to get the shakes out of your swing. Lots of forced carries, the woods were not cleared anywhere and there was swamp everywhere left, if the woods didn't come in to play on the left. When the breeze kicked up "a little" you could lose 2 dozen, or more, golf balls. I also played the "River Course", in Black Wolf Run, Kohler Wisconsin USA with slope of 151. It was emaculate and a "piece of cake" compared to the NH course. I was a 2-hdc and shot under 80 the first time from the back tees, while I think my low round at "The Shadick" was 84. So sometimes the slope rating play differently depending on your particular golf strengths and weaknesses.
Epilog: None of my golf buddies would return to The Shadduck after the 3rd round of play!

A par course with your handicap Liam. The lesson is to start before 7 in the morning every time you play. That way you will not have to be upset by Mr. Barlow's comments.
