😮 great observation
All these guys are full of it.
That was like 50 sets for back.

You don't understand the low volume argument. It's 1 set per excercise, each of which hits a different part
He never does a back off set… its one working set. You need to watch the video and read his books coz you have no clue…
What people fail to understand is that all bodybuilder movies like pumping iron and others are good at making up lies about what lifters do. If they told use the real way they train, no one would watch them. They do workout splits normal lifters think it is way too hard to do, so they watch. Most bodybuilders movies are just a money grab and nothing else.
Also, what people fail to understand and this is key. THEY ALL USE THE JUICE. If I used the juice I would look like them as well. LOL!!
Remember, when ever you buy something even a workout movie it is a business and all business need money to stay in business, and most of them fabricate a bit to get customers. Hollywood bodybuilders movies do it a lot.
Also, stop saying this doesn't work, and this is better. Just get into the gym and train hard. No training split or routine will fix your lack of effort or intensity. Intensity needs to be at 💯 to grow. The more years you train makes it harder to grow so ypu need to force the muscles to grow. Intensity is the driver of muscle growth and having adequate recovery and nutrition to fuel the muscles is key as well. So just train hard and recover, and nutrition hard and you will see gains.
Lol Say that to his face MR . Olympia Pro
Seth rogan wtf?
This is very enlightening. Because naturally I made a video of all the progress I made with volume and heavy lifting. I was doing about 20 sets but only 4 sets were to failure.
facts!
So in summary….he does 7 exercises at a total of 7 sets for back! You need to go back to school and realise that is not much volume but HIT
It's funny, no matter what you hear, the formula seems pretty simple. Nicely said
The guy was a BEAST!! I surely bet these days he’s happier being off the juice 🧃 and being a regular guy and probably in much better health.
building muscle requires high volume of reps, it doesnt matter how many sets or exercises you divide it up into, its all about volume
Rear delt exercises arnt a back exercise and shrugs is more for top traps, Dorian never did a back off set either. This is called the Mandela affect because you’ve heard this a lot yourself.
Exactly. Just watch how he incline benches. Warm up with a plate, then another with two plates, then another with 3 plates then a max set with 405. That is the same what "the volume guys" Ronnie Coleman or Lee Haney were doing. Maybe with different weights. But that are all the same. Dorian just simply called it one set, meanwhile the other two called it 4 sets.
I'm a 9-5 guy well I work 7 days a week, 75 hours a week……… I didn't make it in 2day because I'm under the weather right now……. I did work 14 hours yesterday…….. I didn't make it to the gym either…….. well my gym is in my backyard fully equipped, no farting on the couch or being funny…….🤭😆
Exactly. Well said. All that stuff about low volume and resting several days between each session is grossly exaggerated. I don't think anyone trained that seriously. If you are young and hungry and want to put on mass, should you train once or twice a week and max 5 sets and four or five reps? Hardly.
I really appreciated the breakdown on volume studies done by "house of hypertrophy." Putting all the significant study findings together they estimated that the best number of "working" sets ranged from 10-20 per bodypart per week. I like to train 2 x week for each and aim for the lower end of the spectrum due to natural recovery limitations. As I get older, and have more muscle to support from gains, I find that even 10 sets a week is too much for every body part. But, that range seems to make plenty of sense imo. And, it's somewhat where Dorian really landed volume wise if you break it down- especially do to the heavy weight used with compound movements- a lot of crossover parts worked, like biceps when doing rows.
You don’t count the warm ups you only count the working sets.
7 sets is literally nothing compared to the volume 99% of other idiotml body builders.
He was also using steroids. Mike Mentzer clearly stated that HIT is geared for the naturals.
Dorian took the principles of H.I.T. and developed his own method. Hence why, his workout is closer to 45 minutes instead of closer to 20-25 minutes like M.M. This is still low volume, very much high intensity, when we compare it to any other standard, especially to today's bodybuilding.
Dorian did strength training for 45 minutes three days a week. If he trained seven exercises per muscle group, there was only one set to failure , so it is far from volume training..
Most people just train like bitches.
The fact that someone has to come out and show you how hard to train and call it low volume failure and you to be wowed by it means you train like a bitch.
All there is, is train hard af and eat lots. All you mfers trying to workout the best type of training like youre going to on olympia stage next year. Just train consistently for starters
Guys on steroids can go for volume,as it fastens recovery and growth, but if you are naturally building then go for HIT and plenty of rests in between to recover and grow.., don’t listen to no one.. you will find out for yourself.. if you are not growing bigger and stronger with every workout.. then you need to further cut down the frequency… but not intensity 6 to 8 reps or a bit more of two sets of each variation, not more than 5 variations for each body part.. every one has different recovery rates .. you have to find out for yourself… but the best is what Mike taught HIT with low frequency that’s the basic of how the body works…
7 exercises is not much
Somebody’s confused here
Firstly, he was able to do 7 exercises for his back routine thanks to the fact that he minimized the amounts of sets per exercise, which helped him to shape it up on another level (perhaps the best back in bb history). All other professional bodybuilders were doing 5-6 back exercises for 5 sets each. So, there is a hell of a difference there when comparing 7 sets to 25-30.
Secondly, you seem to take into account the warm up sets as if they add a hidden extra to his training volume, as if all other bodybuilders didn't do warm up sets too before hitting the 5 sets.
On top of that, many of them even trained the same muscle group twice per week and called it "advanced training". So, now you'd be comparing 7 sets per week against 40-60.
Lastly, Dorian never claimed you had to do low volume training and rest infinitely in order to grow as people portrait it when trying to make fun of Mike Mentzer's logic. His claim was to do the minimum required in order to stimulate growth and then stopping immediately, so your body maximizes the use of resources to efficiently build more muscle.
I've been doing one set to absolute failure for about 9months now. I've put on a solid 12lbs of muscle and am stronger than I ever was with volume training. Try it sometime. Youl be amazed
