Recently, former AEW wrestler and current WWE star CM Punk said that some of his AEW run was a waste, specifically discussing wrestling too many people who may not have deserved “the rub” that they got from being in the same ring as CM Punk. What does Stevie Richards think of CM Punk’s comments, and why would Tony Khan have CM Punk wrestle on a consistent basis when his body was struggling to stay healthy after an 8 year layoff from performing?

I am so tired of this "story" nonsense. Do you know what I do if I want a good story? I read a fucking book. I go see a fucking movie. I don't watch wrestling. I watch wrestling because I like to watch WRESTLING. The wrestling is what matters. Stories are the icing on the cake. If its the other way around, you get horrible crap like Dr. Stevie and all the other nonsense that this doofus was involved in. Screw this Vince Russo nonsense.
He certainly wasted his promos because he and whoever he’s interacted with the last 12 months has just been rehashing his feuds with MJF, Kingston and Page.
Yeah, he did, with people like Garcia n Hangman Page!
Yet more Arrogant toxicity from Mr Punk. And I'm sure the wrestling industry & fans are still singing his praises, while he continues trying to burn the place down. 😮💨
I don't know. Could Punk say he wasted time? Sure.
I'm sure he WANTED to wrestle a lot at first. Kahn may be a fantasy booker, but he's not one to really force the vet's hand. Look at Christian. The guy has had 50 matches in 3 1/2 years. He's taken care of Christian – giving him like 1 match every 3-4 weeks or so.
Also, James bringing up the attitude era is a bit strange. I get what he's saying and I agree to an extent. But the attitude era used to have 300 matches on every show. PPVs were like 14-15 matches deep sometimes. There weren't a ton of long matches, except the main events on PPVs.
I find Punk to be genuinely exhausting. Everything seems to be either extreme excitement or intense negativity with him. One moment he’s on Dynamite enthusiastically discussing his eagerness to wrestle new talent, and the next, he’s criticizing AEW as a waste of time. I acknowledge that people can evolve and grow, but in Punk’s situation, it feels like all his actions are driven by malice instead of any true honorable principle. It was spite that brought him to AEW, only for it to send him back to WWE, the very place he was angry at to begin with.

I, for one, am stunned.
I'm no TK mark, but he gave Punk his career back. Punk insisted in being in the title-mix of a bump-heavy Fed. To his credit, he was generous with the rub, but his ego was bigger than his bump-card, and right or wrong, you don't call the boss a mark as he sits next to you at a PPV presser. Period. Talk about "childish." Like them or not, the Elite MADE AEW, if he thought he should walk in and bury them and be handed their stroke, draw or not, WTF? And that wasn't the cleaned up, hit the gym Punk HHH got, he looked like hell. He knew AEW was a souped-up indy, with it's good and bad points that entails, if he's as smart as he says. I'm sincerely glad he got what he wanted in WWE (tho wonder how he likes being scripted), and the winners get to write history, but big mistakes were made by both sides.
Punk's comments just seem petty to me. If this guy joined the company without reviewing it beforehand, he has no business bitching about it now and if he did, why did he join them in the first place? In the end imho it was about the money and sticking it to WWE. Mission accomplished, and now he is back anyways so stfu and count your imho undeserved money!
I wouldn’t call him the “best in the world.” But it’s a great gimmick. And the dude is lethal on the mic. I shit you not, I would bow to him if I ever met him, but it would probably piss him off.
This is what Punk does. Goes to a new company, insults the last one. Punk did his job and elevated a lot of talent and, did it well.
If Punk loves you, you are golden. But if not, he will durn your house down with you in it.
Punk won't ever accept blame at all. It takes two to tango and create trouble.
Every podcaster knows that hating AEW makes money, so they do it.
Not controversial at all, he found out they aren't in the wrestling business. Just a wealthy man's son toy, video game cosplay play thing
I still cant get over how disrespectful Bobby fish was. All over colt cabana, who still isnt on tv…guess punk still keeping him off huh. Alot of those guys dont deserve to be in the business. This is why you had guys like Taker + JBL in the business so guys like this didnt treat it like a joke
Oh fuck off punk, you wasted everyone’s time you fragile dork
CM punk vs any top rope move was the real feud CM punk had at AEW
We did get 80s GI Joe as part of "Action Force", it wasn't anywhere near as hot in the UK though.
He is a waste.
It's not like he took a paycut to be there, and all his matches were televized. What a drama queen.
