Odyssey is launching a new family of Ai-ONE putters, known as the Square 2 Square edition. This new lineup of putters features a center-shafted design for a Stroke Balanced look that helps the face remain square through the stroke.
The Square 2 Square lineup is ideal for golfers who want to minimize face rotation and movement in their putting stroke, a variable that requires very little manipulation to impact the starting line of your putt.
Coming in three head shapes – a Double Wide Blade, the Jailbird, and the #7 – Odyssey implemented a few state-of-the-art ideas to make this its most well-rounded and forgiving putter series yet.
What is Square 2 Square?
Square 2 Square is a technology Odyssey feels like it self-corrects the stroke of many players, especially through its zero-torque design.
Most players will fight in their down stroke while putting to get the face back to square naturally. The Square 2 Square design fights against the tendencies many players might have in their putting strokes, helping to deliver a more consistent ball-striking pattern, which means you will make more putts.
AI
The contours on the Aluminum backer of the insert, which were co-molded to a White Hot Urethane striking surface, were developed using AI and promote consistent ball speed across the face and a feel that is beloved by all
Built-in Forward Press
Each of the three putters utilizes 3.3 degrees of built-in forward lean to help position the face square. Manual forward press by golfers usually opens the face, getting the putt started on the unintended line.
Center Shafted Design
The shaft remains on the CG plane of the putter, helping the toe of the club rest up in a reverse torque position. This promotes a square face.
The lineup is priced at $299.99 and will go on pre-sale today, November 15. These putters will not be on sale at retail locations until November 29, two weeks from today.
First Impressions
I already have a Jailbird from this new lineup in my possession, and you can tell this is a putter that truly is geared toward improving your game.
Putting it side-by-side with both a Scotty Cameron Newport and a LAB DF3, it is more forgiving than the other two flatsticks and seems to have a different feel.
The first putter I ever bought was a White Hot Odyssey #7 years ago, and it is very similar to that. Odyssey has remained consistent with its clubs it seems, but the Jailbird is definitely a step up.
I will have a long review and breakdown of the Jailbird up soon.
