College football week one is nearly here. We’ve already had our first upset of the year when Georgia Tech stunned Florida State in Ireland last Saturday. Who’s on the UPSET WATCH this weekend??? James Franklin and Penn State football have a tough test traveling to Morgantown to take on West Virginia. Mario Cristobal and Miami look to bring the U back into national relevance, but must first get past the Gators. Colorado football and Coach Prime are one of the most bet on teams in the country this weekend… could they slipup? One thing is for certain, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes will be safe as 50 point favorites to Akron. Let’s break down who’s going down this weekend…

College football is a game of explosive plays, immense passion, and endless thrills. Every Saturday during the college football season, the spirit of competition and excitement take the field as the nation’s top student-athletes battle for gridiron glory. The powerhouses in college football are teams like Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and Florida, all of whom compete in the fiercely contested NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision. Whether it’s a hard-fought rivalry, chaotic scene in the stands, or an unbelievable touchdown grab, college football fans of all ages, backgrounds, and regions experience the same passion and intensity each week. From the blue-blooded programs to the rising stars, college football will always be the people’s game.

Ohio State Football is one of the most successful college football programs in history. With a total of 8 National Championships, the Buckeyes have established themselves as a powerhouse in the NCAA. Led by head coach Ryan Day, Ohio State has become known for its hard-hitting, aggressive defense and a high-octane offensive attack. While their recent success has been rooted in their strong recruiting class and their 2014 national championship, the program has a long and storied history in the college football world. On any given Saturday, the OSU faithful can be found inside the famous Ohio Stadium cheering on the scarlet and gray. Regardless of the opponent, each game brings out the passion and excitement that Ohio State fans are so well known for. Follow the Buckeyes and join the Buckeye Nation in their quest to reach another championship. Go Bucks!

  1. Sean Clifford and cam rising should be brothers I can’t play ball but if it takes me seven years to get there, it’s probably not for me

  2. Dak isnt over rated. Dude puts up great numbers. The cowboys problems arent stemming from qb play. Im not a cowboys fan but how many qbs in the nfl are better than dak?

  3. They are so friendly, like how they ask each other how their week is going like they don't see each other often or text daily.

  4. Lance Leipold is sort of like a DeBoer — been following this guy back to Wis-Whitewater. Like DeBoer he's a top OMind with a lot of old school Pro scheme in his background, but also moved to more modern passing spreads then power spread scheme. Always evolvong, innovating. So

Kotelnicki is like DeBoer's OC last yr – been with Leipold for a long time – back to Wisc-Whitewater. Like DeBoer's OC, he's good in his own right and PSU is getting a good OMind and play caller on Saturdays. But…Yurcich was also supposed to be a top OMind for a long time – well respected from all I read and heard.

This is all about Franklin. Just like you guys go off on Dabo saying it's HIS offense not Riley's – same thing here. Franklin was a good OMind back in the day when he was cool with evolving his concepts, but somewhere along the line at PSU – after Moorhead left – that came to a halt. He does things a speicfic way on Offense.

What I saw from Yurcich last year – including Zach's film breakdowns – did not look much at all what I'd seen from Yurcich offenses in the past at OkSt. Gundy is a completley different OMind than Franklin.

So basically my point is – Kotelnicki is good – so was Yurcich – will Kotelnick's ideas of what Offense is and can be acutally mesh with Franklin? Will Franklin be overbearing as he's been or let Andy run things this way? Will this relationship develop in a positvie way for PSU? Will it be shoddy at first – develop over time – or just blow up like it has with other OCs under Franklin??

And I haven't even begun to talk about the talent… how good really is Aller? The WR room? The Oline this year? We know the RBs are tops.

Getting Kotelnicki isn't a guarantee of anything and PSU also lost their best DC ever under Franklin in Diaz…so….

  5. I agree with Zach on Grinch – everyone keeps saying his schemes were horrible – check the film – it wasn't scheme – it was execution – the players weren't buying in or whatever it was – talent? — still looking into that more … but Grinch will prove himself out over time and do well elsewhere.

The thing is – you know USC will still have a very good Offense – Oline – WRs RBs – it's all there – Moss isn't Caleb but he's good enough..Danton Lynn is the real deal as DC – so this will be the test … is the D really about Riley and the type of D Players he gets and maybe what's going on at practices, etc — or is it that Grinch just didn't work out for whatever reason.

I wonder if he kept Grinch it would have eventually worked out – and their D was going to get better either way this year?? Maybe it's the position coaches – the teaching in practice of technique for scheme and overall fundamentals – he's hired a lot of new coaches – not just a new DC — -so I'm leaning that this D will be better this year – just not sure when…

Either way, I like the talent better at USC this year over LSU …. and I think they are being overllooked by non-usc fans and that could galvanize this team to some degree and they really want this game… Going to be very interesting to see if the D is already improved in week 1 … maybe improved but still this probably is somewhat of a shoot out…though neither O is as good as last year – so just an interesting watch overall…
