off the Record off the today Cowboys podcast drama a take that brew has had right for over a year now meanwhile on the heels of the richest contract ever is Jason Tatum actually underrated oh no probably no but right now we’re in for another installment of where in the world is Aon Rogers the answer is Egypt well it was was in Egypt I think he’s back now oh shoot you’d have lost that game yeah he’s back you get control of the board uh Connor Hughes reporting that Rogers pieced together this trip during his Achilles recovery he wanted something to look forward to and that players had no issue with this trip and we’re quote surprised that those outside One jets Drive felt differently thanks Connor also hysteria over Roger whereabouts emerged largely because of the way the absence was announced oh so whose fault is that well the team they’re blaming Sol a shout while they were aware of Roger trip and understanding of why it was important to him uh their public stance on the matter gave the impression they were not and discounted Rogers near perfectly this is so shame throughout the voluntary this is Shame of the off seon it was nearly perfect nearly perfect you I mean this is there this is so I know you’re upset I mean it’s just it I I don’t think Robert Sal is a very good coach I’m on the record on that there is nothing I have said that is as unfair to Salah as this line of reporting and reasoning which is this wouldn’t have been a problem if Robert Salah didn’t make it a problem that’s what that implication clearly is is that and by the way I don’t believe that it was Robert Sal and Robert Sal alone that called it unexcused I agree but now the organization is trying to leak to Friendly reporting much ad do about nothing when they did the version of concerned very concerned for this year’s Buffalo Bills except it was the Jets with with Aaron rogers’s not being there and as far as Brew does he need to clear the air this is so it has now been reported by multiple places he was in Egypt m i there is also I think if you listen to Aaron’s own words about some of his interest in Egypt it seems to be what along the lines of a lot of the what some would call conspiratorial beliefs he has about previous societies tartania all those things I’m not there’s a lot of reasons people go to Egypt but I would for Aaron I don’t think it’s unfair to assume that was part of the allore there so here’s the point I’m making about does he need clear the air brw if we all agree that if we found out hey Aaron you’re finally talking why weren’t you at mini camp and the answer is well I didn’t want it to come out but I was donating a kidney saving a relative’s life we’d all be like oh my God we all owe you an apology there are there is there are extreme there are reasons and if it was oh um brother’s wife was having a baby I wanted to be there sure you’d be like okay not quite the kidney but there’s there’s scale those would have been excused sure um and if it was you know what I was mentally burnt out in the way I didn’t expect I would be and I just thought it was best for me to just be away Quiet Retreat would have been fine I think that he might say right by the way I think that’s somewhere here on there if the answer is it was the only time on the schedule the egyptologist would tell me about tartania so I had to go that’s over here and so if we all agree that there are certain excuses that would give you more grace this would be one that would I think fairly generate the least my wacky you YouTube Reddit Laden brain had to go see these pyramids for myself cuz I think a different Society built them if that’s the reason yeah you need to clear the air that’s fair that is logically consistent and so yeah I think you should clear the air bro whatever the reason he needs to clear the air I mean he he owes it to the to his teammates to the Jets organization you had an in excused absence tell us why I mean that that that God those are the questions he has to answer where’ you go why did you go during mini camp you you you know Aaron generally when mandatory mini camp happens right the SCH at any time why didn’t you schedule it early later whatever what’ you think about the Jets the way they handled it why it was in excused do you have a problem like there are so many questions they need to ask him all right so he absolutely should clear the they need it cleared so this doesn’t look I don’t think this affects how he plays I don’t think any of us believe this will affect how he plays but it just goes to show you where is his mind at you’re the guy that said get all nonf football distractions out of the building and now you go ahead to Egypt for a vacation while we’re all at miniamp before you go wild quick question Brew do you think it affects his ability to lead cuz I do I so I don’t think it affects his ability to throw a football but I think it affects his ability to be the unquestioned voice and leader of the team I I I tend to agree because I think we all you know with the things he said it’s hypocritical we talked about it selfish but if those players are all in on him and like Hey we’re fine with if they really are then they can get past that but I think I think some of the staff like the coach I I think Robert was bothered and I’m not mad at him for being bothered don’t you think that the Jets and it’s a natural reaction where maybe they had an issue a little bit with Aaron Rogers taking off it’s the reason why he was fine and was unexcused but the criticism was so over the toop let’s say how they would view it in this article is it was the word hysteria was used that they circle the wagons and like you know what I didn’t like it but now that you guys are coming after it so much we’re going to stand behind Rogers even more yeah maybe but that then unfortunately re reveals a totally different dysfunction which is if you did not expect this to get this exact level of coverage then you’re unserious yeah if you if you if you thought ah it’ll be a one- day story then you don’t know what you’re doing in New York then like right in New York with one of what is Rogers at worst theth most famous player in the league sure you know what I mean like I feel like Mahomes and Kelsey Kelsey because the Taylor Swifts up mahes cuz are in a separate area but you could argue after those two he’s the most famous and so like and it’s the Jets and he’s certainly top five most polarizing right or wrong all of that and to not anticipate that there would be hysteria and by the way I don’t think there was hysteria I think there was fair questions and I think there was legitimate poking at this is wildly hypocritical given what you have said on the record and and your lack as a team as a player of foresight in getting ahead of it because that’s the other part of it is all of this right or wrong is is taken from the media differently if on one of his first days of being at OTAs instead of just basking in the the pr of doesn’t have to be here I’m here you were like by you know what I mean I thought it was really important to be here because I knew and the team knew but the other piece of it brew and this is why I think he needs to clear the air is Salah made it clear he knew this was going on but we also know sometimes we get lost in the flood of nonsense surrounding this team his teammates did not yeah Tyrod Taylor took the field that day not knowing he was he should have let them know too of course and that’s where the question about it’s all about how they respond if privately guys are like man come on you you chastising us and talking about getting distractions out of the building and now you do this privately if they might be cuz publicly they’re saying the right thing that’s fine if privately they feel that way that’s a huge problem and remember Woody Johnson when he tweeted out how Rogers looks as good as ever when he’s slinging it so they are definitely in spin mode and that’s more of what oh he’s out there like he’s 26 years old this great um all right so now we’re going to talk about from the leader of the team to the final draft pick this year it’s Jets rookie Jaylen key he was taken last in the draft but does exude a brock pie level of confidence when it comes to critics of the Jets saying quote we’ll shut some mouths okay are you buying the Jets will silence their critics [Music] bro I I you know I like their roster yeah all right come on M on paper and you can’t say anything Nick now now that you’re back in the 76ers with all their injury injury possibilities um and I don’t think that this missing mini camp is going to be the difference between Aaron Rogers having a great year mediocre year bad year whatever and my problem with them is just Rogers it’s just one mess after another even though he didn’t even play last year it’s still one you’re putting out fires all over the place with him but that said on paper and Nick you you don’t like this guy and how he the job he’s done I’ll say they have won seven games the each of the last two years Wilds are going to get mad with some of the worst I’m being kind in saying some of the worst quarterback play in football if he went War gam if if Aaron roders is pretty good right pretty good that’s not worth two or three more victories I’m just saying the division’s tough yeah so they got but they y’all know it Philadelphia uh Buffalo Houston teams they beat last year with Zack Wilson at quarterback and new I I just think they got a lot of talent Buffalo self-destructed so the it was game one I know but Josh Allen melted down that was a meltdown game for Jos rather than rather than look back on who they beat in last year’s schedule because we kind of get in circles on that let’s look forward for a moment okay do are we certain they have a top three AFC defense I’m not no no I I think they they like so Kansas City I’m just going to say out top my Kansas City Baltimore will see uh Cleveland’s defense was maybe the best in football last year New England’s defense should be excellent New England’s offense is disastrous but so the point is and so but you they got a good defense they a good defense I do not doubt they have a good defense but I don’t think they have a great defense I think they have a very good defense was probably you know seventh or eighth best in football give you that I think that’s a fair R you know what I mean expectation if they’re seventh or E seventh or eth right exactly when you look at their skill position guys they’re Brew Garrett Wilson Brew hold on so so no here’s the problem they’re not a they’re not above average in the AFC they’re not that’s fine but Garrett Wilson is above average right but that’s but that’s that’s why and actually I would say they are above average okay I mean if we Garrett Wilson has had two 1,000 yard seasons again with some of the worst quarterback play in football what’s he going to do with many teams if we go up and down the AFC have either a guy as good as Garrett Wilson or a receiving core far better right if if they’re healthy hold on Mike Williams is never healthy he hasn’t been healthy in in in since four years ago and even if when he is he was more of an idea he’s good he’s good he had 300 yards last year he didn’t have a, yards the year before he had one awesome year I think three or four years ago he’s a great he’s see about the offensive line and Bree Hall is a talented young running back who last year almost averaged 65 yards per game that’s that’s their with a tight end position that’s not there’s not a ton of rece or running backs that average 65 yards be a thousand yards I mean I think last year was 11 of right I think 12 guys maybe did I mean and he was he missed some games I think last year I think I think he only missed one and but he didn’t play right he was on a pitch count and then they tried gain the system at the end of the year to get them 2,000 or two a th000 yards and they couldn’t do the math right I just don’t they to me they they are a team with a average offensive weapons for the conference an above average defense a totally unproven offensive line a well below average coaching staff and the oldest quarterback in the league who hasn’t had a really good season in three years and who hasn’t Wilds he has throw for 300 yards in 23 games so the the idea that that team is going to fight its way through the very meaty middle of the AFC is incredibly unrealistic how did that team win seven games last year because it’s hard I just want honestly cuz the league is built for everyone to win eight or nine they beat that’s why okay and so at is their quarterback play going to be a lot better than it was last two years it should be yes and that’s not going to count for some victory I think we I think I think last year they won seven games I think this year they here theet schedule BR how many wins are you finding here you finding 10 wins I’m not making my final prediction yet but starting off 0 and one yeah 0 and one okay one two three all look their next four games are winnable after San Francisco I don’t know that they’ll win off but those next four are winnable Buffalo let’s say that’s an l Berg is is a toss up Patriots again I get it that maybe it’s it’s a division game and all that the Texans they beat them last year uh theny Cardinals the the Colts I mean there a lot of winnable games on there what’s the last they got Miami Seahawks Miami Jacksonville Rams Buffalo Miami I’m telling you right now they better have a lot of wins bagged by the time you get to week 13 hey you they’ll split with Miami would you give them that the where yeah probably we got Seattle that’s winable Jags is Miami in uh New York in week 18 that’s probably not a great spot for two it’s going to be chill no at least 44 de I just I think they’re I think they’re an eight or nine win team yeah and I think last year when you look at it that their the year before last every single one of their wins except for the one over Josh Allen and Aaron roders came against backup quarterbacks last year when you look at it four of those wins came against quarterbacks who are no longer starting quarterbacks in this league three of those quarterbacks CJ stra Josh Allen J when you have a very good defense there are going to be games the defense wins for you but when you have when you’re poorly coached when you have a mismatched offensive line when you don’t have a dominant skill position group and I don’t think you have a reliable quarterback you’re going to give some of those games back on the other end which is how you end up winning seven or eight games I about it uh coming up next of course podcast gate we got another podcast foxico bur is weighing in on the first podcast about Micah’s podcast and we’re we ALS Dallas podcast gate quick refresher here uh Malik hooker went on kean’s podcast okay and questioned Micah’s commitment to his podcast which Micah then took issue with on Twitter then he deleted it so here’s Plaxico burus on his podcast with Lavar Arrington but we have a cool pin this would never happen in the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room we address you to your face as a grown man in Pittsburgh that’s the difference between playing in a locker room with the Steelers and Giants wow the Giants got a shot out there well he he did win a Super Bowl versus the Dallas Cowboys take that Brew your reaction agreed agreed with Plaxico burs this is what I’ve been saying for years years the Dallas Cowboys first and foremost are a circus they are an entertainment entity and then down the line they become a football franchise but it’s not the first priority they make tons of money they’re talked about at nauseum and Jerry’s all over the place Titans because that is their first priority it is not as much as they talk about super gos winning the Super Bowl and I agree with plao 100% that in football franchises where it is about winning first winning second winning third this would not happen because players Nick would know I’m I’m not I just got in the league let me not start a podcast I haven’t won anything or or or they would know not to stay out of another man’s Pockets right don’t don’t get in mess with his money that’s what they always say but when you’re own is constantly running his mouth talking about all manner of things every microphone that’s put in front of his face he’s willing to talk now your star defensive player is like hey let me do the same thing and talk about stuff and now Malik hooker your free safety who doesn’t get the attention probably that he thinks he deserves is going on the podcast saying everything saying stuff that other people would only say off the Record all right and so this is the Cowboys this is what they do and this is why Nick as much talent as they have had the last several years they their culture is a problem there and everybody can see it so th this is where I think I clearly the Micah podcast had rubbed Malik the wrong way and that was a legitimate gripe this is where I think we lose the plot a bit oh because with respect to plexo buris let’s talk about those two organizations that he talked about the Pittsburgh Steelers four years in fact he’s been on the show Andrew philipon friend of four years Andrew philipon hosted a radio show in Pittsburgh he still does but this part’s no longer going on that every Tuesday Ben rothberger would go on intentionally one hour before the start of Mike tomlin’s weekly press conference and drop little bombs that Tomlin had to respond to impro improvisationally at the press conference because it had just been said right when tomin was going up there and the Steelers are that’s not ownership that’s the Rooney family that is and that was because they had a player who wanted the attention and was going to be a little hard to deal with the New York Giants and the mara family we we had a minor National breakdown of about their Diva receiver for 2 years about kicking Nets and Instagram photos and and boat trips so this idea that this is part and parcel with the Cowboys rather than part and parcel to talented maybe a little over his skis star player that feels like what are you going to do to me that is not a Cowboys problem that is pick your franchise and he just said two and I instantly had two examples of when something like this has gone on so I don’t I don’t I don’t buy that that is a cowboy’s problem I do buy that Brew was right that mic’s podcast could cause issues because it clearly has but I don’t think that’s a Cowboys thing that’s not a Jerry Jones thing can I mich’s podcast sure it’s not a huge Money Maker well I don’t I here’s the thing I think he look it might I think I think for huge money maker I mean it’s millions of dollars off the podcast but remember he’s still in his rookie salary too I mean I don’t know he just got that big promotion appr I bet it’s a big deal yeah but go ahead if I was Micah Parson I’ll be me for the time being yeah I was like hey you know what I’m thinking of taking up um is it called hand gliding or hangliding when you’re hang glider hang glider when you go here and you launch yourself off of a mountain I’m like should I do that and you’re like no and I’m like should I do that like no like should I do no brw do you think I should do that do you think and everyone is saying no like I do it anyways if Micah went around to people he respected and be like what do you think about my podcast you think I should do podcast I think he would hear a lot more no this totally disagree with you you don’t really you think you would hear a lot of yeses like yeah man do it I I think that I think if you looked at it if you again to use your ridiculous analogy it’s not ridiculous love it if a lot of if if if Ernie Johnson was a big time hang glider and Scott vanel was a big time hang glider you might be like you know what this is the way to go yeah I mean if you’re if you’re Micah how LeBron’s got a podcast draymond’s got a podcast Richard Sherman’s got a podcast a lot of guys the Kelsey have a podcast I understand jewry that and they’re veterans that’s my thing I understand I don’t mind a player having a podcast but mature a little bit win a little bit and that’s well taken but but why I think that Micah’s not you and here’s the other thing that I think is unfortunate and unfair from not unfair just it there’s a good and a bad to it one of the reasons that Micah’s podcast has any traction at all is because he’s a cowboy but it’s also one of the reasons that it’s the only one of these that gets dissected there it’s the only one of these guys that we are listening to every word and finding stuff for there’s too many podcasts there’s not enough time so like it it’s easier for a you’re you’re only these shows and those things because of the Cowboys because they’re entertaining they’re they’re entertaining but so do you think if the C let me ask you this because this is where my push back with you on even though I think you have been correct about the potential issues Malik hooker made it clear Malik hooker proved your Bry wasn’t just speaking for himself beon agreed so on that one you were right on like flatly you were like I there might be a teammate that has an issue with it theoretically and then a teammate’s like hey guys I have an issue with it I think you’re focusing too much on the podcast so that was correct where I disagree with you is this if the Cowboys in trying to sign CD and sign deak were like you know what we have to trade Micah we have to trade them if they had done it this off season traded Micah what’s the most serious organization in football the New England Patriots oh yeah we’re locked they traded him to the Patriots for two first round picks you think he quits the podcast cuz I don’t I don’t think it’s a Cowboys thing I think that if he were traded he’s still doing it and so and then maybe we don’t care about it anymore but you understand what I mean that’s where I think it’s unfair but I I I think a serious organization could say to him look we we rather you not do the podcast the Cowboys can’t say that because the owner running his mouth every opportunity he gives see but why would he listen to him why what that’s my thing is if he wants to do it drama in the locker room it’s an unforced error in the team within the organization got it it’s just unnecessary my point is that I don’t think I don’t think if if Michel Parson wants to do this podcast I don’t think there is anyone that is can stop him he is too good of a player he’s too good no you understand what I mean like he’s great he’s a great he’s a great player is a great podcaster I well he’s trying to be here’s the thing if they really and I look I don’t think they built the roster to win the Super Bowl this off season all right so but like say with last year they still are SB because they’re the Cowboys but if they really want to be serious and Allin on would we’ve heard that a lot Allin you know what Allin should mean Jerry Jones saying you know what I’m no longer going to be standing outside the locker room after every game given an impromptu through press conference Mike McCarthy is now the voice of the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays I I’d like to see him even give up his weekday radio or weekly radio appearance yeah of course we like it is Clark hunt doing that stuff no but theer any of that the last two dynasties we’ve seen but I guess that’s don’t you think some of this is a little p don’t you think that it in today’s NFL if anyone’s like don’t do these things that that some of these guys are like um the what are the Chiefs so you wants to be more like the Chiefs cuz I I they have a popular podcast and if the Dolphins had a pingpong table they’re like this is a distraction hold on remember Wilds remember that wasn’t actually what happened I know but it Tyre Tyreek is doing a like that’s my point a veteran though and he’s got he’s got a championship not with the dolphins but he’s got a championship if Jerry Jones gave up his pot or his you know statements that he’s making every week and then he could go to Micah and say look it’s all football this year let’s go get this ring I’m giving up my public pronouncements we want you just to focus on football and give up the podcast I think he do it we got to move on to Dak but I’m going to solve this and then we’re going to move on okay he actually just needs a co-host for real he just needs a co-host so when in the pre-production meeting it’s like then I’m going to talk about our defensive plan against the Eagles like no no no no no let’s talk about an old memory from high school like oh that one’s good let’s do that can’t wait until he has Malik hooker on that’s what they need to do clear the air you’re trying to promote the podcast they should I mean if he’s going to do it do it right Hobs is yelling at me because we have to get into a pipe dream of his former NFL executive Mike tanom said the Raiders are producers favorite team should give Dak a blank Raiders tattoos anyone want take a reaction to this not you hubs out of my ear I’ll do it I’ll I’ll do it I mean this is why he this is why Dak has as much leverage as any player in like modern NFL history because it doesn’t matter what happens this year somebody’s going to do this MH and I mean have you seen the Raiders quarterback depth chart I know you like Gardner muu but gner mchu is good you want to see the hey Dusty pull up that versus Trevor Lawrence thing from CBS sports that’s a good one uh the like I want that’s how good I read that book too nice nice topical pop culture reference as wellon but um so here like I I just think there is nothing that is going to lead to Dak Prescott not becoming the League’s highest paid player next year and the Raiders are going to need a quarterback the Giants are going to need a quarterback and those two teams are two teams with real history with in the Giants case real money the Raiders less money but still enough money to pay their quarter back and right e either brand new stadium in Vegas New York with the Giants and so those two teams by themselves not to mention the Steelers maybe if neither one of these quarterbacks so you’re you’re going to have at least two if not three suitors that are not like branding wise terrible for Dak those are are all Prestige franchises so yeah I mean I somebody’s going to do this which is why Dak is not worried about taking anything less than probably a fully guaranteed deal from Dallas because he knows he’ll go get it in this off seas and my take on Dak has always been he needs to realize he’s fortunate to be the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys because he would not be a celebrity quarterback if he weren’t doing it with the Cowboys but now I’ve changed my tune on this oh wow I actually think it would be good for Dak to go somewhere that’s just the football franchise where that’s what we do we not about worried about the drama the soap op all of this but but but no but and I get Vegas Vegas is a my first choice if Wilson and Fields don’t work out would be Pittsburgh he can do that old big the Giants gotta be better if I’m back I’m not try if they have a bad season this year I’m not really trying to go to the Giants he needs to go somewhere where it’s only about football and they have a legitimate chance to win the Super Bowl cuz that’s really all that’s left for Dak to do I mean I know he’s still relatively young and he’s got a long career ahead of him but what we want to see from Dak Prescott is win a Super Bowl and I really think if he goes somewhere where all the noise is quieted like Pittsburgh or even the Raiders I know they’ve had their Vegas but still I think it’d be better for him and I wouldn’t mind if he ends up doing that Dak and bich package deal so like that I like that I like that a lot that’s Giants yeah I’d become a giant such a frud if they bring cannot be a Patriots and Giants fan why not because they’re Rivals I like them don’t even know what we’re doing that’s why I don’t like humor welcome back to the show Clay Thompson headed to Dallas for what might be a needed Fresh Start for not only the Warriors but for him as well Jason Dumas writing clay has been equally as exhausting behind the scenes it’s not as loud not as loud because it’s not you’re stomping on someone’s chest if he’s slamming stuff on the bench and sulking and doing that on the court how do you think it is in practice how do you think it is in the locker room has been uncomfortable it just doesn’t come out as loudly as Draymond Green your reaction well look I certainly think clay has probably shown emotions at practice I mean we know he’s had trouble accepting his role coming off the bench dealing with kind of his decline as a player dealing with the fact that they’ve paid these other guys because he knew it during this season they gave Draymond 100 million you g you gave Wiggins the money now you only want to give me half like he’s had to deal with all of that and I am I’m sure that that has come out at times whether it’s in the locker room or in the Huddle or in practice where he’s just sing you know or maybe throwing things or maybe you know just hit something or curse whatever it is I believe that but to say he has been as exhausting as Draymond it’s absurd that absolutely like there is Draymond got suspended from a Finals game Draymond stepped on somebody’s chest during the playoffs draymond’s been suspended time and time again Draymond sucker punched a teammate who was a good player who you ended up having trade and got player no no it would but I’m just saying either way so to say you can say clay they were getting tired of clay a little bit he was rubbing people around fine but to equate it to what Draymond has done is just lunacy and to me it is part and parcel with parts of the organization that to me have always bent over backwards to excuse Draymond oh I’m surpris you guys making this a Draymond thing go ahead well that I mean I listen I think that Clay’s tail if you will is a pretty typical Sports One the once great player who is struggling with the fact that he’s no longer great very often due to injury right like that is not an abnormal thing to deal with and that I I forget if it was Phil Jackson I I don’t want to misquote it but I think it was Jeff Van gun maybe he got it from but okay there go Van Gundy said it for sure Van Gundy said it and so wherever the Genesis of it is but the hardest thing for a coach is dealing with an aging Superstar and remember they traded Patrick y right and so so the clay thing is not surprising what I think compounded Clay’s distrust or discontent within the organization is that Draymond got paid that it Wiggins okay Wiggins you know was seemingly at his Peak was younger nobody reg grudging him that pool they had just won a title he hadn’t gotten his jaw rocked yet he was a young guy got paid Draymond was also a declining player Draymond had already derailed their Championship repeat hopes by hitting a teammate and then and so hold on a second he gets paid I don’t I think that added some angst and so to then say it’s just as exhausting I think that’s lunacy can I make a counterargument yeah the issues with Draymond are about modulating a competitive Zeal that when it’s perfect can com can uh you know drive you to a championship clay who thrived off a joy who would boat to practice and bike to the arena and just generally play with joy wasn’t it wasn’t about modulating The Joy it was kind of a 180 that he’s no longer playing with joy he’s playing with a real frustration that affected his play that Steve cerr had to talk to him about like remember and then when he turned his season around it wasn’t only dealing with the bench he talked about how Steve CER was like he made me appreciate where I was at in this stage of my career draymond’s just a modul modulation of a competitive fire so that’s where I I I I understand what you’re saying I disagree with you on this regard Draymond is also a much worse player than he used to be he’s not as effective they aren’t as dominant defensively his offensive part of his game is broken compared to where it was so he has not declined the way clay has because he didn’t suffer the DraStic injuries but he also misses giant swaths of time cuz he keeps getting suspended and I do think he hasn’t declined quite as much as clay but it’s it’s close yeah I mean Draymond was was a great player scored 24 points and he was never a big scorer but you know the playmaking defense and rebounding things like that so and so I just don’t I I don’t like how this ended for clay I I think that this the the life’s not fair part of it I understand but there’s also the real unfairness that his last game ever as a warrior was his worst game ever as a warrior no one could do anything about that I understand that but I and so maybe maybe this is the the benefit of you know building up Social Capital that I have more of a margin of error for clay you know being um you know frustrated or mal content to me is too strong but I and again I’m not in that locker room but it is very difficult for me to believe that for Steph Curry who has been the standard there that if he’s asked so you know Clay’s kind of you know emotions and Draymond stuff what is you know what’s harder on you and he’s like you know what equal they’re they’re the same that is very difficult for me to I’ll give you this W I do think with Dre m is probably all out in the open and you know you know his emotions like when he’s upset or you know it’s stuff he does and you know it and then you kind of Let It Go with Clay it probably was simmering and it’s just a constant suling or that’s always there so I get I don’t doubt it was frustrating but again you just to me you cannot compare it to the things that Draymond has done out in the open okay that’s fair uh Tyreek might get another does or the guy who might not be one of the 15 wow Tua did lead the league in F no I mean the answer is Tyreek Tyreek is the engine that moves that offense Tyreek is the in the Irreplaceable part of that and the market has passed Tyreek by Tyreek deal to begin with was fake they called it a 30 million a year but it wasn’t because it was 45 million or 46 million salary in the final year and it just did that for the headline and now he’s got three years left on the deal the last two legitimate years two legitimate years left on it but but now his annual average has been like you know moved up or it’s 60% below the market so or the market 60% above where he is so it’s Tyreek you have to have Tyreek for that thing to work because you don’t have that guy at quarterback if you had that guy at quarterback you wouldn’t have to have two awesome receivers including one of the most physically gifted unique receivers in league history we were talking about Tyreek Hill last year around week four is he one of the five best receivers ever that was the discussion and MVP right and if he gets to 2,000 yards could be a league MVP so I I to me this is easy Brew because I look at Tyreek as clearly a top three receiver and I wouldn’t pay to her so I this is not hard for me and so yes Tyreek is my answer it’s even easier for me wow neither oh wow right now oh he’s going to say you’re contract here we go you got two years left on your deal all right we we G to take care cuz I do think Nick and I know you’ve a lot of times done the over 30 receiver he’s not declining he his numbers are getting better all right so I’m not worried about Tyreek like falling off he just turned could pay him in the future maybe next year right now I’m not try trying to pay either you know how I feel about Tua I want to see another healthy season I want to see you win in some frigid weather and beat some good teams all right so I’m not really and and I got the franchise tag for twoa if worse comes the worst all right so I don’t have to pay either one of them right now Tyreek I’m just like look if if if they either one of them makes a stink then it becom a stink is he I mean he looked happy yeah I mean that wasn’t a stink now if he makes a stink it does become an issue and I will say this if my if one of if they put my back against the wall and I’ve got to pay one I agree I’m prioritizing Tyreek cuz I might I think I can probably find a quarterback with Tyreek and Wad and those running backs and Mike McDaniel I think they’ll be all who’s their backup is uh is I don’t not Skyler Thompson well it was Mike White I don’t think Mike White I you put Mike White out there and he but I’m just I’m just not ready to give Tua $250 million yet I maybe after this season I will be it is still Mike White and I listen I don’t think Mike White I to be clear not as good I don’t think that they have a t replacement on the roster but is there a tua who if like you know what we’re not going to pay Tua who who no well I mean that’s why that’s why the franchise tag exists and that’s why the NFL draft they got time I mean I think that there is an element of the dolphins with Mike McDaniel and with those receivers that is plug and play and so I am I this is where and we’re not going to have a brock pry argument but there’s not an argument this is there is to me those two quarterbacks are in the exact same mental bucket in my brain which is physically limited py I think is a touch better physically limited undersized Perfect Situation Shanahan system replaceable and so I would always prioritize keeping those Superstars around them over losing those guys to pay them because then you are asking them to carry you and as far as Tyreek creating a stink Tyreek saying unprompted hard for him to win four five but here’s what I’d say with with them losing another two ke and ready his numbers could go up right if his numbers go up they have to he has to do more and maybe they’re some guys and if he has to do more Luca obviously is going to be right up there embiid I I look embiid I don’t think he’s going to play 65 games if he does he obviously should be up there SJ was and Anthony Edwards look we’re all looking for him to even improve off the playoffs and play well and then there’s T my only issue and and this is not a knock against Jaylen people going to think it I would just have oh no I would just have j or Jason Tatum alone not tied with jayen Brunson cuz here’s the thing Nick if they I think theck are going to have a very good right I know I think the Knicks are going to have a very good season but I think it’s going to be a team season like the J might be their leading score like the Celtics I don’t think he’s going to average as many points as as uh Jason Jason is at 27 points a game but but he was later yeah he did after that but that’s my point I think if randle’s healthy m bridg is going to take OG’s looking at the big money he’s getting sa I got to up my scoring a little bit so I just think it’s going to be a little more team oriented so is the Celtics mean I don’t know Jason’s going to lead them in points rebounds and maybe assist yeah yeah I mean the I don’t necessarily agree with you on the OG point because that same logic with then say Derek White’s going to be like I got to score like so he’s not OG I well I mean they yeah Ian he’s good and I think he’s probably I don’t know I think a lot I think he’s probably ahead of most people in most people’s eyes OG if you’re do the full King of the Hill bring down a number of of Tears so listen I think he’s perfectly rated it’s why the Tatum conversation so frustrating to me there were folks who big question of the Celtics were can you win a title if Jason Tatum’s your best player and amazingly they won the title and we still don’t know because I don’t know if he was their best player like it was a weird thing it was it there was a real question can he get to that next level and there were those of us I’ll be serious here who thought he couldn’t and then incorrectly thought and because of that they can’t win the title he didn’t and they won the title anyway I don’t agree with and I’m not saying this what you believe but I think you at least profer up this argument which is a fair one I don’t believe that Jason Tatum is deflating his stats for the for the sake of the team I think he’s doing everything he can I don’t I don’t you know and I think in the playoffs it was not an instance of oh I’m just going to be a distributor instead he was missing shots and so there is a very clear MVP odds are a little tricky uh because a lot of it does have to do with well do we think Tatum’s better than SGA maybe but sga’s numbers are going to be unbelievable and so like that’s a that that’s a little different but there’s a very clear three best players in this league and that I think even the most Ardent Celtic fans agree yeah that Giannis joic and Luca in order of the three best and then if you wanted to go to the mattresses and say Jason Tatum is better than Joel embiid because availability matters but you know and you say what you want about Jason Tatum in the finals at least he has finals and Conference Finals games he’s been good and tons of them then you can do that if you want to be like ah dwell and Beads won a league MVP average 35 a game you can make that argument too Shay versus Tatum ant versus Tatum those are all legitimate argu they are all clustered together and I think that is how most people view them I I I really do and so I I don’t think he is overrated certainly I don’t think anyone’s I don’t think there are people out there improperly overrating him I also don’t think there’s a lot of people underrating him I think that is he’s in a weird place in the basketball discussion because I think everyone mostly agrees but it feels like man doesn’t he deserve more because they won the title because they had this record but there’s only so much credit to give out and if we think well Jaylen Brown’s now a top 15 player and we think that Derek white is a you know all he’s going to be on the Olympic team if Kawai sits out and Drew holiday is consistently the most underrated guy and now missoula’s Brew is given him a lifetime contract like there’s yeah and so I think they’re right I think I do think his performance in the finals was underrated including by you oh I didn’t I thought perfectly rated he let him you were down on it he leted him in scoring rebounding and assist he wasn’t efficient but his floor game was good and and he opens things up a lot for his teammates cuz he’s the one they pay the most attention to and he’s a nice you know he’s nice at drawing attention and passing I know but when he was shooting I was like that’s he shot poorly he definitely shot all right Pop Quiz you like I can’t tell if you like these or you actually hate these so we think he what we say no not higher than four not lower than eight nine if he stays in that little range do you have a historical comp for who Jason Tatum’s career is like oh I think Nicks made a good comparison of Clyde Drexler I think that’s and Clyde won with elijahwan um got a team to the finals obviously Portland uh twice before that uh I think that’s that’s a good one I think that this as far as where he lives in the basketball hierarchy yeah c i buy because like I never thought Clyde was the best player I’ll give you I I’ll give you a different one but he was a dream team that I you know in my opinion I think the MVP voting doesn’t agree with me but lived in his prime in that 4 to9 range is Barkley I think that I know bar listen Barkley 93 season was unbelievable and and he also never won the finals so I get that weird one but to me you know Barkley in the 80s was not a top three guy at any point and then come the 9s to in my opinion Jordan and AEM were clearly better than him and then you could argue about Robinson or and we’re not trying to relitigate the 90s I understand but he was but he also was never outside of the top 10 for the better part of a decade you know what I mean and so but I don’t think anyone ever really thought he was the best player in the league and so that’s and and by the way wait that’s a compliment that’s the think better I think Barkley’s better than Tatum okay I mean now tat has a ring we’ll see if he how many more I I agree with that historically I’m just trying to say in the context of where they were falling in League rankings where it was like they were consistently all NBA and Ne never consistently really in the discussion for best player the ’90s is weird because there wasn’t really discuss best player and so but that’s but you’re saying Tatum can’t win an MVP no I don’t you don’t think he can no I think he can we talked about earlier can he be the best player in the world that’s different than being MVP you know that’s fair that’s a fair point because I don’t think you can ever be the best player in the world but Dirk wasn’t and Durk one of them time the N the Nash one I don’t use because I think it was the wrong winner but I voted for Nash both of those years you had a lot of no but I mean there been a lot of guys that weren’t the play in the world that one MVP okay I’ll talk about the other teams Boston of course uh fresh off of their parade for Banner number 18 cor is coming back so what are the chances that they run it back title odds Boston at one OKC Philly Denver and the Knicks tied at four then the Mavs and the Timberwolves who do you think is the best bet to stop the repeat bro my well in the East I will go with the Knicks I think right now look I was even saying this this year when the Knicks were banged up I didn’t think they beat Boston if they met but I was like you just not going to want to play them they’re going to make it they’re kind of like Miami you know it’s just man they going to be a nuisance they gonna make it hard and now they actually have talent like real good talent so I think the Knicks in the East obviously Philly and Milwaukee we’ll see how healthy they are they will not be cakewalks uh in the I’m going to say this overall let me see I think I know who you’re Minnesota oh and I like Dallas I think Dallas is right there OKC again I’m just like I think they’re one year away from really like having a chance to get to the finals and win this thing or or win this thing so I I I think they’ll be really good this year but one year away Denver is still obviously a contender but they’re not as good like I said as they were two two weeks ago uh or C and certainly not the year they won it uh so I I like Minnesota I think they’re going to have a huge jump just because of what they went through last season and I think Dallas is is right there too is your answer Denver not yet I wish it was but it’s not wow it doesn’t I who’s replacing kcp no I’m not I’m I’m I’m not I’m not ready yet who is I were him I would just be I I wouldn’t even be able to watch I’d be so nervous about embiid uh my problem for the Knicks versus the Celtics specifically is it just feels like the Knicks built a slightly worse version of the Celtics corre and that you I mean it’s like okay we have two really good wings and OG and male Bridges two-way Wings can defend it’s like okay we have Tatum and brown we have the two best um all right we lost our Center we have Mitchell Robins it’s like well he’s not healthy now when he comes back Chris STS is better the one spot the Knicks have is jaylen’s spot obviously but then after that which is big and Jaylen might be the best player of all CU it worked it worked when they when they first got an anobi and they were healthy went 12 and two and then Randall got hurt so I I’m not saying it’s definitely going to work I’m saying I would certainly try and there’s a good chance it works and if it doesn’t you can work I’m going to have Randall on the mental trade block until he gets invited to be part of that Nova Brothers podcast um when a podcast does work out exactly right but can I give the I’d love to say Dallas because I really like the clay pickup right now I think the Smart Pick is Oklahoma City for this reason prey got I don’t want to say a lot but some criticism for standing Pat at this trade deadline a lot of people thought they needed add size he was like no we’re going to run with it see what we have you know and see how it works out they then adjusted based on what they saw this year they added Caruso got rid of giddy they obviously just add hartenstein they haven’t traded any of those picks so if there’s any team in the league that I think at the deadline could look at this landscape and be like oh this is what we need this is what’s available they’re not they’re they’re nowhere close to any of the apron restrictions they have all those picks they could be the team that takes the biggest inseason leap of anybody I don’t have a i i Bron Ingram what no I that’s not I’m not a huge fan of his as but my point is you can add somebody it doesn’t even have to be a star so I think OKC it has the biggest room for growth of any of these team because their ability to add pieces they shouldn’t add a star like the only star I would even fathom adding would be Kevin Durant just cuz you can drop him in obviously the history there he’d be great but my point is their stars are Shay Chad and Jaylen Williams yeah and they’re that’s their big three and that’s what it should stay for the next decade you know I’m surprised when I float out the Kevin Durant back to OKC and I know the internet is not you know perfect a perfect uh uh incub incubator of opinion there’s not a lot of yes that would be awesome it’s a lot of like no thanks were good that’s because a lot of it your your Twitter followers are now basically just nuggets people that’s not that’s so they don’t it’s interesting what you say outside of the pressure of playing with his father take a listen this is for bronnie how much more pressure is on you playing on a team with your father and how you how you going to handle that pressure um for sure the Amplified amount of pressure um I’ve already seen it stuff media and stuff on the in the internet and stuff talking about I um might not deserve an opportunity but you know I’ve been dealing with stuff like this for my whole life um so it’s it’s it’s nothing different but but it’s it’s it’s more Amplified for sure but I get through it Brew your reaction well like he said I mean he’s been dealing with this his entire life I I I grew up with some kids that had parents that played pro ball and they ended up eventually not playing you know because it’s a lot of pressure on you obviously your dad’s one of the greatest players ever uh but bry’s dealt with it right he’s dealt with it I’m sure coming up going to Sierra Canyon all the aou that kids went at him mhm some kids that were better than him and really went at him to make a name for themselves off him so he’s dealt with this his whole life my thing with bronnie playing with LeBron cuz initially I felt like I I love to see them in the league together but not necessarily on the same team my concern was bronnie not so much LeBron but bronnie how’s where’s he GNA be at mentally playing with his dad being in his dad’s Shadow and so on and so forth but if he he seems like he’s comfortable with it he seems like he’s fine with it I imagine Savannah and the family are fine with it so if that’s the case then I think I have no issues with it and um and and I think he’s going to probably spend a lot of time in the G League too so they won’t always be together right so that the g- league part’s important because people are still confused because he just signed a contract today and it’s the it’s the guaranteed contract it’s not a two-way contract and I think some people still think that means oh so he’s not going to play in the g- league he 100% can and I I shouldn’t say 100% but I think will play in the g- league and 100% can play in the G League that whether it’s two-way or not is about how much money you make and clutch forever has made it very clear our guys won’t sign two-ways if we can anything say about it that’s not just a brony thing I I’m constantly impressed by his ability to not stepping it in any of these questions I there was a I think bleacher report somebody did uh like a video of a bunch of the potential draft picks and it was basically it was one of those fun like kind of build your perfect player and it was athleticism IQ they did a bunch of those things and one of them was start bench cut and it was LeBron Kobe Michael and bronnie answered it and I I for he started his dad I don’t know who he benched I don’t remember but I I it stuck out to me because I’m like oh that’s the first thing he’s done that I’m like oh that might get aggregated and used against him like he has been cuz he had to cut either Kobe or Michael he’s been very he seems to be very level-headed and I don’t know if how much of that has to do with what he dealt with medically how much to do with just how he was raised just who he is as a person so I think he can handle it as well as any young person can but it’s hard for any young person to deal with this level of scrutiny and it’s another reason why I think him being in the g-league early On’s probably good if that’s ends up where it is because I don’t care what people think the media is not following around the g-league teams like that it’s you know even if even with he’ll get a lot of a lot of attention for G leag yeah but I but that to me that will burn hot and quick I don’t think that would be a sustained attention on the it’ll be challenging like if he goes down there and struggles cuz the G league is good like that g League ignite team I think they went 2 and 32 they got the best like young players in the country um so it’s going to be tough you’re playing with against grown men who are trying they got their last Hara get into the NBA if he goes down there and struggles it’ll be interesting to see what the coverage is like and and are they really harping on it do you think he goes down there and just works on defense and shooting because it guys go to the G league and like Hey we’re calling up this guy from the G League he just had 35 points like you can put up crazy numbers in the G League at the same time but your game maybe doesn’t translate to the N yeah I don’t think the focus should be on his numbers maybe like efficiency of course things like that but I think you’re just going to be looking for like you said his defense how he shoots it how he’s thinking the game seeing a game you know I I don’t think it’s going to be a focus on numbers CU you’re right younger guys might not put up numbers like the older guys but I also think with any undersized player you you have you can see pretty quickly is his athleticism going to be able to compensate for his lack of size and you it obviously isn’t the same g- league to the NBA but you can get an idea of can he play bigger than his size because the biggest thing working against him is he’s under 6’2 and that’s hard for anybody in NBA history to succeed okay thanks for watching we’ll see you tomorrow 3:00
