so it’s one of the best feelings in the world to get that perfect t-shot Away Great l in the fair where you stand up there with 7 iron in hand and then you either cold top it 20 yards in front of you or potentially worse still you stand up you take a massive divot unfortunately most of that behind the golf ball and the divver nearly went as far as the ball so in today’s video I’m going to talk about what we’re going to do the two key skills to make sure you hit ball and then Turf every single time and get some really high quality Iron shots so I think we can agree those first two shots are shots we’ve all hit in the past and might still hit in the future but we want to make sure we really reduce how that happens so I said there’s two things that we need to get better so let’s look at the golf swing from a very simple perspective when we set up and swing the club around our body the club head is basically moving in a circular motion around our body so the club moves up on the way back moves down and then reaches its lowest point and then travels back up so the two skills that we need to be able to control are we need to get the lowest point of the Swing ahead of the golf ball and we also need the height of the Arc of the swing at the bottom to be at the correct height so there’s every chance if you’re somebody who fats it thins it tops it that you get potentially both of these things wrong or maybe just one but work through the video with me and you’ll find out which one if not both you do and most importantly how you’re going to correct it so I think the thing I see for most golfers initially is they’re not even aware of low point so they’ll say sometimes I hit a good one sometimes I fat it sometimes I top it there’s every shot in there so if we’re going to get at aess here the ball’s fairly Central so pretty much in line with my sternum and what we need to do is as we’re getting towards the top of our swing we want to feel the pressure shifts and the mass of our body moves towards the target so that the lowest point of our swing will be opposite that lead armpit so you can see there that would be maybe four five in ahead for me so the first thing I would want you to do is make some swings just feeling that you getting pressure shifting towards the Target now the beauty for me there is I also took a divot and you could see a set up in line my divot started maybe a couple of inches after deepest parts 2 Ines ahead of that and then back out so my low point would have maybe been 4 in ahead there but we’ll do that again shift towards the Target and I just brushed the m so the first thing I would want you to do is hit some shots really just focusing on moving that Mass towards a Target and let’s see what that gives us strike wise so I’m going to set up focus on getting that mass towards the Target and for me that was perfect so I got the golf ball then the divot started about an inch after then the deepest bits further forward so my low point was ahead and it was in the ground now if that’s the thing that you do wrong instantly you’re going to be better on that now the next thing could be that you might be one of those golfers who actually moves this way nicely but sometimes misses the ground sometimes actually hits the ground way be behind the ball and at the moment I couldn’t do it but the divot might be very big very long and the low Point could still be ahead so when you watch the best players in the world what you’ll see is they’ll shift towards Target but as they shift towards Target they move down very slightly and then coming into impact the handle of the club leads and then the widest part of their swing is actually that side so we’re going to try and feel that as we shift towards the target we’re going to try and feel that we’re going to hit more of a punch shot and kind of feel the club head never gets ahead of the hands so we rehearse that to begin with and we could see there again I set up in line with the ball the divot would have started nicely ahead so we’re going to get there feel out that punch shot shift to the left now the handle stopped Club head kept going and you could see I struggled to control the bottom of my swing there so again we’d rehearse that get the feel that was better but I would say there even though I’ve taken the divot we can see there the ball would have been here my low Point’s maybe 6 seven in ahead so the club could have only just got down to the middle of the ball and that could be why I thin it like I did on that last one so I’m going to try and feel that I get left and down that’s better get into the ball really focus on that movement probably a little longer on the follow through than a light but that was absolutely flushed and we can see I’m going have a few divots to repair after this video so I would want you to do lots and lots of feelings with that little punch follow through if you’re somebody that from doing that then feels that okay I’m actually still getting too much into the ground that’s fine we’re going to get that feel of going down and then coming into impact we’re going to get that lead hip going back and up away from the golf ball and that’s going to shallow us out but the handle being ahead means that I’m not releasing the club early to catch the ground so this is very much kind of my thought process when I hit shots it’s kind of shift that way I don’t have to think too much about that but getting that left hip back and out the way creates a bit more speed gets that nice downward strike with the club and gets that perfect iron shot as we see there but like I said if you’re a golfer who struggles with ball and then Turf contact it’s one of two skills that you struggle with you either don’t get your low Point ahead of the golf ball or you’re really poor at controlling the height of the Ark hopefully you’ve worked through the video and you’re seeing better shots but next time you struggle with it come back watch it from the start work through it step by step and I guarantee this will take your ball striking to a whole different level than you’ve ever been before
