it’s got off to a really nice start a little scrappy on the backside I would say just missed a couple of easy up and downs um but I think overall the course is obviously playing really difficult with How firm the greens are even with the rain that we got overnight and I’m not sure how the weather’s going to be over the next day or so but uh I mean those those greens are really tough I mean it’s been a while since we played uh greens like these you know cuz I remember back in the day we’ be bouncing pitching wages you know 5 to 10 Paces um it seems like that’s just hasn’t been like that for a long time and it’s it’s nice to see for a change it’s one of those things where you kind of have to miss it in the correct spot yeah you really have to uh plan accordingly ahead of the you know your round just to know kind of where you need to miss um so you can get up and down is there example maybe on a shot where you just a shot you had today that you played a get X yardage but you play play it for how much shorter like well I mean it was interesting I watched Brian Harmon into the 10th green which was that first hole today hit a wedge shot and that skipped it must have skipped 15 Paces on a wedge now granted some of the some of the greens were just like slightly inconsistent with the bounces that you’d expect to B like bounce at least 10 to 15 Paces like 17 for instance um after playing those first you know seven holes you’re thinking okay we’re going to get least a good you know 10 to 15 bounce here but Brian hit a great shot you know going you know into that green landed kind of at the top of the hill and kind of just trickled over so um once again it’s just it’s a really difficult golf course it’s tough really tough golf course it’s long it’s it’s it’s playing pretty strong today especially with that Northwest Le it it started Southwest and then kind of switched to like a West Norwest um and I think that’s kind of what we’re going to have the rest of the week but uh it’ll be interesting to see where the scores end you know end up like typically if you don’t see anything like kind of lower than you know seven um you know kind of in the first round sometimes it doesn’t get to you know it goes kind of like low team so uh you know in the past you know this this course is kind of you know the winning score has been 16 under par you know I think it’s going to be a little bit you know kind of harder than that is it is this a good I mean do you like having this kind ofest the week before major 100% you’d rather this test than something where it’s uh super easy and it’s super receptive you know we don’t know what we’re going to get next week in you know Valhalla last time I played there we had a boatload of rain and it was soft but if we do get good weather they’re going to they’re going to firm the greens up pretty um pretty good and so it’s it’s kind of nice to be able to come from a week like this where the course setup is really nice the conditions are tremendous and then getting into a major so it kind of feels feels like a you know like a mini major here this week they flipped the for you they had to flip the nines because of the the rain and you know starting off the teeth of this course holds one through four in difficulty are on that that your first nine today yeah like to get that out of the way or or you talk about this side yeah yeah the first side you played is is the toughest tougher side statistically yeah I mean that I mean I actually played really good on the tough side so um yeah I mean 16 17 18’s like it’s no snack you know what I mean and then you know 11 12 13 like it’s crazy like you you kind of have to got to really pick you know where you can kind of make birdies it’s really difficult to like for instance 12 you know if you hit it down the middle yeah it’s you you got an opportunity to get it somewhere on the green but that pin’s like 30 plus back there and if you’re in between clubs you can’t especially this morning you couldn’t land it on top it was really difficult to land on top you had to land you know kind of back before that slope so you’re playing a diff slightly different shot so um yeah it was yeah I it was nice to be able to get through the back nine you know early this morning kind of before like what we’re feeling right now with the wind good thanks
