seven under for the day how would you assess your opening round yeah it was solid it was a bit of a grind I don’t I don’t think I hit that many greens but I felt like I hit the ball well um struggled judging the wind it seemed like it swirled kind of with the storms and um my chipping and putting was excellent so um all in all obviously really happy with it um had a bit of a hiccup there on the back nine was able to save B on like maybe I don’t know 13 or 14 um and get it in the house um yeah my game starting to feel a little bit better so it was nice to get a a good score under my belt first year event had you seen this course at all prior to this week no first time what are you seeing out there after practice round and a round in um well in the practice rounds I seem to hit it in the Fairway a lot and today I used to seem to miss the Fairway by about one to four yards and be blocked out by overhanging trees it felt like a a bit like Harbor Town like it’s a it’s kind of a mix between like Copperhead in Tampa and harbor toown is what it feels like to me it’s um you know there’s some it’s obviously fairly getable but you got to put the ball in the right place off the T to have a shot to the green and um the greens are pretty severe so if you can just make sure that even if you hit it a little farther from the pin but you’re in the right spot it seems like it’s generally a little bit easier to get up and down would you um would you I guess just looking at what you’ve done this year would you turn this year probably solid but not spectacular at this point uh good start and then it’s been very mediocre the last couple months um game just hasn’t felt great wasn’t hitting it great wasn’t putting great and um you know felt a bit out of it so uh no I feel like I’m trending got some stuff that I’m working on that I feel pretty excited about and you know it’s it’s Peaks and valleys in this sport it’s really frustrating I just I think it’s like that for pretty much every player in the world except for one at the moment and um you know I’m trying to just try and accept the fact that that is what it is and and try and have a little better attitude uh you know when it’s down because I just I you know it’s it’s tough to ride that emotional roller coaster uh for a career and you you mentioned that U Peaks and valleys you had a lot of pakas in your Youth and teenage right and and all that um I guess how do you feel you’ve been able to progress that uh throughout your pro career at this moment it’s hard sport yeah we got to ask you about the eagle what like 7 I should I should be asking you I couldn’t see it oh what did you see I saw it go up and and then I heard people say good shot yeah it was nice I I left it right where the spot where I wanted I thought the left bunker would be a good place and obviously never expect to make it but um hit a good one and I couldn’t help obviously I didn’t see it go in so I don’t know how much speed it had but it felt like a pretty good shot and you talk with him about you know really solid start early and fell off L is there any one part of your game that you point to and say well I’m not doing now what I was doing early in the year um no all of it honestly um it’s not that anything’s been horrendous but my ball striking just not been super sharp chipping hadn’t been great putting I feel like I’ve had rounds where I’ve putted well but generally that’s kind of the strength of my game and it’s just kind of been okay so um yeah I feel like when I’m playing really well I’m great around the greens and hold it together off the tea and into the greens and I’m in good shape so that’s kind of my recipe obviously everybody wants to win every week and even though this is an alternate event there’re still two years exemption and so forth and so on and I looked and found out you are in a rare group you probably know this stat you’re one of seven active players who’s won 10 million or more without actually winning a tournament so would that make a win here even bigger than it otherwise is for you nope could you expound on that win’s a win yeah um so what we play for like you just said a second ago um that other stuff’s nice and that’s basically a product of us playing for more money I wouldn’t say necessarily my performance so um I’m trying to win every week that I play no matter where I play were you aware of that stat of being I was okay when you heard that the first time and somebody other than me told said that to you what did you think I’d rather be there than have that be one quarter of my earnings so I mean it’s a nice we we play for a lot of money out here we’re really blessed to do what we love to do and make a lot of money but you don’t lay your head on the pillow thinking about money think about winning golf tournaments and you know what you’re trying to work towards and stuff like that so yeah it’s great I’m very lucky I’m blessed to have a career that I get to do what I love to do and support myself and if I need to support my family and um I’m very very fortunate to have that and um at the same time I don’t count money so you know what I mean sort of something he he mentioned about a solid career at this point I think the number I saw is you you’ve made the cut in two-thirds of the events you played in that that signals somebody who’s consistent week in and week out I think I’m pretty good at golf thank you thank you thank you guys appreciate it
