so many players overlook this one key setup principle which can make or break the quality of your golf shots so in this video you are going to learn how to ensure that you don’t fall victim to this common mistake and get yourself set up for success and in a position to flush those golf shots let’s get stuck in all righty Trey so we see a lot of players will be working on their golf swing they watch one of these videos read a a book they talk to their buddies and they start trying to work on too many complicated things throughout their swing yeah as in they might be trying to shallow the shaft B their lead wrist in transition extend the hips earlier post up onto the left leg the list goes on and on and on and on and a lot of players we find neglect the important lwh hanging fruit of the golf swing which is their setup right and one of those that we do see has such a profound domino effect meaning if this is out there is a whole slew of follow on negative effects in this case is their weight distribution between their toes and their heels so what I want you to do is show on me as the model of what would happen if I have too much weight on toes and what that would generally then start to demonstrate in the golf swing motion so if I set up here yeah I think it well toe and heel weight distribution can affect so much from I think the key thing is the kind of horizontal part of the strike so how much in the toe middle or heel you might be so moving the club closer or further away but also how your body is going to kind of move through being too much on your toes or heels so if you take a setup there and just feel too much on your toes to begin with yeah and as a checkpoint I’m just going to close my eyes here and move my whole body forward I’m not going to reach I’m just going to move forward and shift on my wet onto my toes so definitely too far on my toes here y so you feel too far on your toes probably feel like the clip’s a bit too close to to you what you generally going to find with go as this is what I see is that you’re going to try and find the middle now so as you soon as you start that golf swing from being on your toes you’re going to kind of start to shift back into your heels throughout the goal swing throughout the back swing especially yeah yeah yeah definitely uh a great reference point for players of what uh stock setup position should be is if they’re setting up to the golf ball if you draw a line from the back of your triceps down that should go through about the balls of your feet means you would have an equal amount of uh pressure and Mass on this side of that line and this side of the line which is your body’s Natural Balance Point meaning that throughout the motion you’re more likely to keep a stable head okay so back on my toes right I’m feeling too close and then as TR just said then I’m more likely throughout the golf swing to want to try and move away from the ball so I can find my balance because if I don’t and I swing this golf club around my body all of a sudden you’re everywh falling straight into it yeah so that’s something so simple isn’t it a setup that people probably neglect a little bit just being Toes or heels but it’s something that’s quite hard to figure out I think for some golfers it’s you don’t really go to the range and you practice where your weighted so you kind of just think that it’s there and it’s built in you haven’t got to work on it but it’s something that’s quite important really and it’s habitual you find that a lot of players just get comfortable in what to someone else would feel like a very uncomfortable position yeah but at the end of the video I’ll show you a great way to ensure that you’re in the perfect weight distribution every single time without having to micromanage it so let’s go to the heels now try what happens when I get too far on my heels yeah so this one’s quite interesting exactly the same thing is going to happen as you start to swing back you’re going to try and find falling off you’re going to try and find the middle again and what that often sees if I kind of draw a line behind your backside there as you start to move up in the back swing you can see you come way off the back of that so often leads to that kind of early extended look pelvis tucking underneath ourselves moving towards the golf ball again now you’re in a place where you’re too close trying to find Space trying to find the time to deliver that Golf Club yeah and the reason this occurs is simply because your body is more focused on staying balanced throughout the motion so you don’t fall over and also intuitively you’re playing a game which we know the ball has to somewhat strike the center of the face so no matter where you start through hand eye coordination you’re going to try and get back to the ball in some way or another you we’re we’re very clever as humans where we just kind of kind of kind of do what’s natural if some one starts to push me from this way out the first thing I’m going to do is try and balance myself and stand up and while I’m at it trying to hit that small gol forall that’s on the floor yeah we see that all the time so uh we’ve got too much weight on the toes the players are shifting back and standing up uh or we got too much weight on our heels we’re Falling Towards it so what is your way with your players to ensure that they’ve got a neutral weight distribution yeah there’s uh there’s a couple of ways one way I like in particular I’m just going to come come around here carage you can use a stick mhm so he just lay a stick on the floor if a stick is on grass it’s probably going to be pressed in a little bit you might want to Club if you don’t mind standing on a club but if you just stand in the middle just raises you up right in the center doesn’t it yeah and you can really feel if you’re correct Toes or heels and then what I’m trying to sense again I like that from from what you just said there Ked eyes closed and just kind of figure it out with your feet there I clearly feel too much toe too much heel what’s that middle ground I can feel a little bit of pressure in the toe little bit of pressure in the heels right there yeah and even when you’re doing that one important thing to note here for players at home is make sure that you do do that when the club is on the ground because what will happen is let’s say you get equally balanced here but then Trey was to go put the club down on the ground you’ll finally go to his toes if he opened his eyes it’s a great way to ensure that you are balanced in your functional uh weight distribution which you’re going to be able to produce in a consistent manner from the address position where you’d strike the ball not from up here and then just that you’re going to manage it as soon as your eyes open because with our eyes we can tend to fool ourselves into getting into a position which is not going to be as functional I I also like that just really quickly Barefoot or take your shoes off because often with these you get so many so many different you don’t want me to get them out now quite often you can get shoes with different bottoms on like you get your flat shoes and you get your ones with a mesh in and they squish in if you take your shoes off you can really kind of find that but make sure you got your socks on yeah yeah yeah exactly all right so I’ve got a slightly different way that I go about it and I actually build this into players routines mainly because you’ll find that it’s very hard for any player to actually get this wrong it’s all about staying in an athletic State before you hit the golf ball so you’ll find uh just the same as you would in any other sport the reason players are moving around I’m sure soccer goalkeeping soccer basketball any of these Sports is because they’re staying in a ready activated position okay and in golf when you watch anything uh on TV with the tour players you’ll see them always moving their feet a little bit little bit up and down what that does if you ensure that you’re moving around as the golf club is down on the ground I won’t be able to lift up my toes if I’m too toe heavy and I would say that time under tension causes the majority of technique uh errors for players yeah because they’re at a dress and they’re going okay okay Trey I need to shallow the shaft by P6 here how am I going to get it back into that position how am I going to and before you even know it they’ve crept onto their toes just through in action out of dress so static isn’t it I mean I that’s a great point because you even see that in putting I think even in putting I know we’re talking about full swing but having that flow you see players like Rory doing that and adapting that this year keeping the feet moving keep looking getting in there and then pulling the trigger it just stops that inactivity yeah and you see this also demonstrated in short game you’ll see players always moving around with their feet before they hit a shot really just staying active right up until they hit the shot so if we are standing here let’s say the players at home who are trying to judge between their toes and their heels let’s go keep moving those feet up and down off we go sure thanks for watching this video YouTube thinks that you would benefit from watching this one next so click that card and it could be the tip that you need to take your game to the next level I’ll see you next time
