Edison Golf sent me their 2.0 wedges to test and review. I put these wedges through all my testing around the green, on the launch monitor and on the course… to find out exactly WHO these golf clubs are for.

ABOUT ME
I’m Andrew Jensen, a former full time touring professional that played on PGA TOUR Canada, Latinoamerica and almost every North American based mini tour since 2008. I want to use my playing experience to inspire golfers to improve their own game and have more fun with this amazing game we play!

so in this box right here I have a set of wedges that are claiming to be more forgiving more accurate more versatile than all the wedges out there they’re wedges that are designed for every golfer not wedges that are designed for tour players that every golfer has to use these are the 2.0 wedges from Edison Golf and I’m opening it right here they come with iron covers we will uh we’ll Overlook that we’re not going to we’re not going to keep those on cu no one no one should use iron covers so I’ve got a 52 56 and a 60 their heads actually come in odd numbers though 51 55 and 59 they were bent to The Lofts that I wanted five times forged they look really really good at a dress you think for a versatile forgiving head they would be massive but they look really good so let’s just test them out and uh see see what it’s all about okay so throwing these down yeah they’re a they’re a very small head it’s a unique little design there’s no bounce options that you can choose from it’s just one Soul that’s meant to give you endless capabilities with bounce this is the yeah that’s a small head holy cow that had some nip even for a little thin Miss hit get away with it that small head is kind of cool because it feels like you’re just going to hit the center of the face all the time see if we can drive one in there with some spin uh yeah wow that was a little thin and it still spun really really well all right let’s lay this thing wide open and see what we can do whoa made a freaking ball Mark tore the cover off I mean brand new wedges will spin like like crazy but that was that was nice let’s grab the 56 and I’ll play something a little more driving definitely looks more it looks like a real small blade iron I know these are marketed for kind of the every player but they look like a tour wedge not not too much curve on the Leading Edge a curve Leading Edge is just kind of meant to allow a lot of golfers to do a lot of things your upper echon typically like straighter leading edges yeah that looks good yeah that’s gone but that reacted well I mean they’re reacting to the turf really really well let’s try this 51 let’s kind of run something up there well 5 twoo it’s a 51° head that would look really good in a fairway just hitting a full shot with this thing I mean for Straight Out of the Box they feel good they’re performing well okay here’s a great test we got a little bit of wind into US midlength bunker shot but it’s landing on a down slope Dow grain so you got to get this thing high with some Spin and try to land it all the way or just Dolly it out there and let it you know that spin be controlled to run down the hill so let’s see what we can do I mean that was good obviously we either have to go higher or landed a little bit closer to us because this thing ain’t stopping too quickly down that slope oh that’s got spin yeah wow I felt that like had impact that thing just ripped the cover off my first impressions I’m very very very surprised I did not expect these to be this good for kind of how they’re marketed kind of the every player wedge I thought them to I thought they were going to look a little more chunky and definitely not feel so premium let’s see if I can control it and just like Dolly it out here and let it run CAU that one a little bit heavy but it still kind of went through the sand nicely yeah that’s awesome the sole on this thing is yeah it’s versatile AF downhill Li downhill slope I mean it’s never going to stop but that that was good I’m having some fun here one more oh that spun so nicely wow so one thing I love to do with you know testing wedges or just working on my short game is like take one shot and hit it with all the wedges hit it high hit it low CU then you’re really seeing just how creative you can get with these clubs and if these clubs will perform to your level of Crea creativity so this is the 52° obviously it’s a pretty straightforward this is the shot you would hit out on the golf course just kind of put on the back foot is this thing going to react the way you want it to react into the grain here so I got to I’ve got to strike it well I’ve got to use the bounce well but then it’s like okay hit the same shot with the 56 so you’re going to fly just a little bit further you’re going to use the bounce like it’s just a good way to test what the wedges can do and can you can control them hitting different types of shots with them these feel great you kind of dubbed that one so then you take the 60 and you hit the same shot so obviously now we’re flying a lot further but is this thing going to react with the turf well Bermuda grass into the grain you need to use the bounce or you’re going to be embarrassed pretty quickly and uh this Leading Edge and bounce combination feels really good see I dubb that but then it’s like okay hit the same shot with the 60 hit it really low can you do that can you back foot it can the wedge do that can you go mid height with it or you just dub it or you take the 56 okay so now 56 is typically like mid height can we go back foot and react the way we want it to react yep so then can we go front foot and get this 56 up in the air and have it execute relatively well and then we do it with the 52 so it’s like you got to get creative you got to know how to use the bounce because yeah we’re back footing 52 can we get you know can we get some air under the 52 little scuffy but it worked can we get some air under it you know and land it a little closer to the hole and still have it that was good man and still have it stop this is the test this is the AL test for wedges can you hit a lot of shots with them on different conditions and different Turf that wasn’t good like that’s a 52 Dee so now it’s just like let’s see what the numbers are with these things if I can flight it if I can do what I want to do with it and how forgiving it is because they claim to be super super forgiving so let’s see how forgiving they are on those 3/4s to full shots so around the greens they pass the test these wedges are really good they’re very versatile they’re very forgiving and even you saw some Mish hits I got away with it the spin is there everything about them is is up to Snuff it’s very very good and it better be because they’re $200 wedges you bundle them they’re a little bit cheaper this three bundle would come into about $185 $86 a wedge that’s the same price if not a few bucks more than your vogi your mg4 your jaws wedges so these wedges need to be very good around the greens if they’re going to be asking you to pay slightly more than the Big Brand BS that you already know number-wise I got them in here and I started testing them and unfortunately for me just launching too high and the peak height is too high the distance and forgiveness really there like even some of the M hits I got some good distance out of them the spin is really really good the spin control was really really good but they’re just launching a little bit too high and the peak height for a wedge is just too high for me as you get better at this game you want to be able to hit your wedges lower when you need to you want to be able to control the spin and control that trajectory unfortunately these things are just launching high and going too high and then it’s like yeah maybe on a mat that’s the thing well I took it outside and the same thing was happening it was just hard to control the peak height the spin was easy to control the distance was easy to control but the launch angle and the height is just too much for me and that could just come down to the way that these wedges are designed and where the mass is distributed because they are marketed for every player they’re not tour wedges that every player have to use so where the the mass is distributed it’s going to help players that struggle to get a wedge up in the air around the greens or hit those half shots or 3/4 shots because they dig it into the turf cuz the Leading Edge is wrong or the bounce is wrong there’s not enough relief these wedges I can see really benefiting those players that like are breaking 90 trying to get into the low 80s I think these can benefit them a great great deal because generally they might be using used clubs or an older set and their wedges might be hand me Downs or they just got them on sale and the bounce is wrong the Leading Edge is too sharp for their Turf conditions and they just struggle with their wedges so they don’t hit their wedges these with their forgiveness and the way that the mass is to get the golf ball in the air and to kind of control spin on all hits could really benefit those players that are trying to get their score down into the low 80s and you know and eventually and breaking 80 but again they’re expensive they’re expensive so that player could buy a used vogi for 100 bucks and maybe be fine with it but I think an investment like this will help that player but it’s going to be hard for that player to understand spending that money on their wedges to shoot slightly better scores to be more confident with their wedges they’re really beautiful clubs they feel really good around the greens their performance is there around the greens unfortunately for me they’re just not a setup that would benefit me in my bag I think I’ve clearly laid out who they would benefit I wanted to like them more but unfort they’re just not they’re not wedges for me there’s players out there there’s a lot of players out there that these wedges will benefit but they just got to you know get over the hurdle of a name they don’t know and maybe a price tag that’s a little bit more than they would want to pay so there you go the Edison wedges 2.0 see you in the next one

  1. I have a set, and I agree that they want to launch. But, I have not struggled keeping them down. I have always been a good wedge player, but these have taken my 120 and in game to a great place. Down from 9 to 6 with these in three months…

  2. I have a 59 degree Edison wedge (original version). The main reason I no longer use it is because their limited shaft options required me to get a much heavier shaft than I have in the rest of my irons so I never felt completely comfortable with it on full swings.

  3. I have a 50 , actually 2 of them. One in CT , one in FL. The sole I’d very versatile. And them spin. Can easily hit low spinner, and mid height. Looking to get more, but a tad pricey

  4. I had one of the original Edison wedges in 53 degrees and the grooves wore out really fast. Very noticeable after half a season.

  5. A lot of people that need forgiveness have trouble hitting high enough, I bet a lot of people would really love these
