Just an Average Golfer giving unbiased opinions on all things golf, product tests, Golf travel vlogs and golf news!

the more videos I make the more clubs I review and the more comments I read I realize that many of the things we as golfers complain about are well the things we actually yearn for take clickbait as a typical example everyone complains about it but I guarantee that a negative headline gets far more clicks than positivity it’s a fact same goes for golf clubs the brands that roll out the marketing campaigns that we say we love to hate are the very brands that sell the most clubs that’s another fact and the clubs I will show you in today’s video are a typical example of being incredibly good but in my opinion they are too simple to sell in the numbers they deserve and by simple I mean the text story is not glamorous enough and they aren’t in the hands of enough tour players so the biggest question I have for you in this video is quite simply why do more and more golfers not use the mauno 245 and if I’ve got that one wrong then please do let me know in that comment section below cuz I firmly believe that many more of us should be giving these a go the only question comes from auno and alow there are three models in this lineup it is the 245 that I think should have Mass Appeal question is why well for me there is a huge standout reason why but before I reveal that it’s a hollow bodied iron set which is incredibly popular right now they stick a bit of tungsten inside the mid to Long irons which helps with with launch and ball speed they have a thin copper layer on the face to further enhance the feel and The Lofts are pretty normal by today’s standard a 7 iron is 30° another huge positive is you can blend these irons seamlessly with two other models the 243 and the 241 but the main reason these should be in more golf bags is quite simply they look so good arguably one of the best looking irons ever released in my opinion a blend of old school Blade with a bit of muscle to provide a visual confidence minimal markings making this an iron of the [Music] ages these irons make you want to shape the ball and you can you feel like a better player than you actually are at times and what’s wrong with a bit of false hope [Music] sit down ball oh you know what one thing I will never question is just how good Munos feel we all know that’s their thing when the 245 five let’s not forget it’s a hollow bodied iron what I just hit there with a seven iron and that contains tungsten in it so there’s a possibility that you would lose some of that sound and feel in what you wouldn’t get in a grain flow forged iron but that’s not the case in the 245s you do such a good job they’ve added that layer that I’ve mentioned about the copper in between the uh the face and whatever it does it just sounds so so pure and what they’ve achieved in the feel and sound is incredible so the question is why aren’t they in more golf bags well quite simply if you go back to the original conversation lack of tour visibility lack of big tour players names has a huge impact also that marketing campaign is never as big and as glamorous as some of the other brands and as I said there’s a lot of things that we complain about that we actually buy into and in my opinion that is isn’t going to change anytime soon [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]

  1. I did try the 225’s when they came out which was a definite improvement over the T300’s. The Miura Km700’s came out and even though I’m a 15 hp I thought I’d give them a try. Blades fully forged with large sweet spot and butter feel. Don’t think I’d give that up for a Mizuno.

  2. The lie angles are to flat for me, I need 64.25 7iron (245 is 61.5), my wrist to floor is 38.5 inches, or between Ping white/silver dot. They can be bent to 63.5 but that is still to flat. In the US they can apparently get factory heads at 63 which can be bent up to 65, but when I emailed Mizuno Europe they could not provide them. They are more expensive but they have a premium copper underlay and are Made in their Historical country of Japan, which has a dearer labour market. They also have Steelfiber as an option, I really like them.

  3. The problem is that this year the hollow body iron market is packed with really great clubs. 245 is a great club, but so is i530 (more marketing), T200 (again more marketing), P790, P770, PXG, Srixon ZX4, Cobra King Forged TEC, Apex Pro and that is just naming the bigger brands. And they are all pretty clubs. The competition in the hollow bodied market is insane this year.

  4. I went to a fitting fully expecting to find these the best for me, but the fitter gave me the JPX 923 Forged to try first, and that one felt unbelievably good, with excellent spin, landing angle, stopping power, dispersion, etc. In comparison I found the Pro 245 hard, clicky, with less consistent distance. It just didn’t perform as well for me as the older, cheaper JPX 923 Forged, which was also better than the TaylorMades, Pings and any of the other brands and models I tried.

  5. I have these irons and I’ve played forged tec x’s, apex 21s and these are the best feeling and best distance control by far also they look so damn good in the bag.

  6. For me it’s price. I’m not worried about tour pros. I’d buy the Wilson Dynapower Forged for much less, as they perform much the same (watched a comparison of those irons on YT just yesterday!)

  7. To answer your question … these Mizuno irons are far too expensive! €1.900,-, in Europe, is ridiculous. You can buy the same quality irons, for example the new Wilson forged irons, for €800,- less.

  8. And you can pick up the p790 for £500 less! That's massive given that apart from looks there is nothing really between them.

  9. I bout the Pro 245 but I got them only $900 and they the best clubs I’ve ever used. They’re very expensive tho. But man. Pure perfection

  10. I bought one of the first sets of 245s in town! Love them! Upgraded from MP18 MMC and am seeing higher ball flight, more distance, and more forgiveness. I’m a single digit, and they looked so good I had to go with the extra forgiveness, power, and Mizuno feel.

  11. I think Mizuno is making a mistake calling their 225 irons a "Players Distance Iron". It should be called a "Distance dispersion killer" – because what it does really well is give you more distance overall, but also reduces the distance lost on mishit shots. Tightening the dispersion of the distance for each iron. I was hitting the 7 iron 175-180 – but decided to increase the loft for each iron 4 degrees (back to 34 degrees – alittle more traditional) and still carry 165-170 but gives me a higher ball flight option – but still allows me to knock down my ball flight when needed. These clubs give me the opportunity to do this and still gain distance and significantly tighten up my distance dispersion. The technology in these irons are fantastic.

  12. im getting fit this Fri and in order Ill be hitting Pro245, P790, i530, and zx5, hoping 245s will win!

  13. Bought a set of 5 through Gap in Dec. Purest irons I’ve ever hit. Long, penetrating flight but still getting 6,000 revs on a 7 iron. No issues with hot spots or jumpers like with my i500s. Very happy so far.

  14. I finally got around to playing the 223s and they are pretty dang smooth, took a wee bit to get adjusted to (used to play Wilson TN-1200 Gear Effect from about 1987) and now I'm finding the "groove" with them…..fun clubs!

  15. That's exactly why I play Wilson Staff CB and blades, And. They also "make you feel like a better player than you actually are" and the "false hope" they offer is that some day (maybe only one day), you'll be good enough to justify them 😂

  16. I just got the 243s and love them and if I wanted to go back to players distance I would go 245 all day as they actually have some feel unlike most of the other clubs in that segment.

  17. Simply the best Irons on the market. I agree, they don’t spend the money on advertising and they don’t have enough top tour players gaming their equipment. In many ways Mizuno is the best kept secret in the golf industry.
