what is up my fellow golf ball addicts welcome back to the channel and we are doing our first video in our vice week 2.0 Vice has released brand new lineup for the 2024 season which includes this first ball we’re going to be doing which is the new and improved and redesigned Vice Drive let’s Dive Right In All right so uh when I tested the vice golf balls what was it uh December of 2020 I mean it’s it’s been a few years it’s been almost 3 and a half years roughly uh you know it it was one of the best things to happen to the channel we did a whole week five videos five days reviewed all the golf balls they’ve done really well uh they’re some of the most popular videos on my channel even still to this day uh and you know Vice over the last few years at the time had really instilled itself as the king of direct a consumer and it really I mean it was it was it was all over ads it was every time would go to an ad on YouTube it’d be a vice ad I mean they just advertised all over the place people were starting to like them you know everywhere I’d go people would be like Vice is nice and it was a really big deal um over the last three to four years they have continued that dominance they’ve come out with limited editions they’ve got their products into Walmart they’ve got their products into big box stores they’ve got uh you know people endorsing them like it’s just continued and they’ve they’ve done all these you know limited editions Jack Nicholas and Master’s editions and you name it and they just Contin continue to knock it out the park time and time again so when I saw that uh they were coming out with a line for 2024 I was like you know it’s been a while it’s been like four or five years since their last Rebrand you know I have high expectations so uh diving into this review I’m really hoping these golf balls continue to assert their dominance in this market it’s really good now the drive and the tour advice comes in in basically five golf balls the vice Drive of course which is a two-piece golf ball the tour which is a budget three-piece golf ball for every swing speed essentially and then you have their Pro Line which before was the pro soft the pro and the Pro Plus well now the pro soft has been replaced with the pro air so we’ll be doing that one in a couple days um but you still have your pro and your Pro Plus the vice um zero got taken away rightfully so it was dookie so now let’s just focus on the drive that’s what this one’s about so the first thing you’ll notice from me handing this golf ball up is that it’s blue and it’s not just blue it’s a very beautiful perwinkle blue uh you can see that design there uh it’s just rebranded and essentially the vice Drive comes in about four different colors as of right now which of course is your normal white it comes in your uh yellow it comes in a pink color which I really love Pink’s actually my favorite color it’s a little fact about me and then it comes in this beautiful perryi Winkle blue which I love a lot as well I thought this would really be good for the channel and it’s it’s a gorgeous color these golf balls maintained their beautiful price point of 199.99 a dozen but if you buy them in bulk you can get them for $14.99 a dozen which with that type of value it’s just insane I mean we’re seeing golf balls in the two-piece Market go up to 23 24 25 a dozen I’ve tested a couple recently that were 27 a dozen or 30 a dozen you’re starting to see the inflation really take a hold and seeing that Vice did not increase the price of the drive and still allow it in bulk to be bought at $15 a dozen that’s huge that’s very significant because again Vice has a really firm grasp on this market so the fact that they’re producing highquality golf balls with Incredible designs while keeping the price below everybody else on the market except for maybe a couple you know dollar golf ball you know your Wilson zip and your cut red yada yada yada uh but still I mean the value is just insane so I I love to see that so with that being said let’s dive into the design of this golf ball so as you can see with the vice drive it’s that perrywinkle blue it’s beautiful it’s gorgeous vice’s logo is just I mean it’s it’s so cool young hip I love the uh the cursive in there it’s a beautiful logo and now they’ve done it as an outline which is just a small subtle thing they did but gosh it makes a difference I absolutely love that uh the golf ball is made of a Dupont Surin which is one of the best U you know more plastic coverings non- urethane that you can get on the market it feels like it’s going to be tough um I already can tell you the durability is going to be really good on this golf ball just based on what it’s made out of and then if we come along to the alignment tool on the side this is really the only knock I’ve had against uh the new Vice line is this alignment tool essentially what they’ve done is I’ll show them side by side that’s the the old one this is the new one the old one being the block even though it was small it it was okay as far as an alignment tool but this one is really difficult really skinny uh it looks sleek but as far as practicality as far as actually lining your golf ball up even when I tested the whole lineup out there I I won’t beat a dead horse I’ll just say it this one time and be done the alignment tools are not good they don’t work very well um i’ I’ve tried them with different colors different designs I wish it was a little thicker the only thing I would recommend is I wish Vice would kind of do what like Callaway and Max flyer doing and say Hey you want the normal version fine but we’re going to offer one that has a 360 line or offer one that has you know a thicker line that way if you do want to line your golf ball up you can because I was struggling with feedback around the green with this for sure but overall love the design love what they’ve done here this is gorgeous it’s beautiful um and it’s only 20 bucks a dozen and if you buy them in bulk 15 wow just really impressive so let’s get to the important stuff now let’s go out to the chipping and putting green and let’s see how it did out there [Music] try to get a little air on this last one ah too much on that one slow down all right not a lot of release Here so let’s just try more of a putting motion it is a two-piece golf ball it’s not going to have a lot of bite to it so let’s just try kind of a okay not enough there a little more see how much spring it has interesting you might have saw that little jump to the right there so it does have some spin it’s getting a little bit uh let me see let me close the face just a tad duffed it but it forgave me pretty good that’s not bad all right round two two here just using the putting motion I kind of want to see if I can get one really close pretty good really nice roll decently forgiving for sure not bad get up there very good all right last one here ah a little left is it okay little bit of bouncy ball effect not bad little bit of spring off the club it is a heavy Mallet actually felt pretty soft though which is kind of interesting oh there we go that was nice get in the hole get in the hole oh you got to be kidding me put Shadow on it really good feeling there I actually like that one a lot a lot better there we go oh wow that’s kind of nice I like that actually it’s funny I got a little too much on it there let’s try to take a little off actually clicked I heard the feedback that was actually kind of nice if you’re someone who likes that y really good click there for the feedback get in the hole not bad good roll off of the blade putter little too much on that one no actually just a little left not bad at all all right so my feelings and thoughts around the green with the vice Drive uh first of all I got to say I really like what Vice has done with the feel the feel is really phenomenal compared to the old model the old model actually I was never too crazy about it because it always felt like a firmer distance two-piece golf ball which there’s nothing wrong with that but it’s just not my bag whenever you would chip or putt with it that was a pretty apparent loud click it definitely felt firmer um it didn’t have a lot of spin CU again two-piece distance golf ball but it still had that click and it just felt a little firm what they’ve done is they’ve actually softened this way way up it has some bouncy ball effect to it when I hit it it does it feels like it kind of bounces off the club a little bit it’s not Ultra Soft or super soft or anything like that it’s not going to be so soft that you can’t feel it it does still have a little bit of feedback but now it feels like it’s really in that perfect Zone little bit of feedback a little bit of firm press click but not like loud not obnoxious and not just so soft that it just squishes the club and you can’t really tell love what they’ve done there that adjustment is huge for this golf ball because now it’s actually kind of fun to use around the green spin wise you’re still not going to get a lot you get a little bit more than the old Vice but again that’s because of the firmness versus softness with this one being a little softer I am seeing some type of you saw it when I was coming back it kind of shot right a little bit if you actually do hit it really well it will kind of check up a little bit a little bit more than some two-piece golf balls but again nothing like Toral golf balls urethane golf balls it’s just not going to get there but it does have a pretty firm true role it’s decently forgiving it’s a lot better I actually enjoyed using this one around the green opposed to the old one I wasn’t really too crazy about so I love those improvements there now when it comes to the putting with this golf ball so a couple things I tried it with the Mallet putter I tried it with the blade putter with the Mallet putter I was actually pleasantly surprised I’m using a new mallet putter for the last few reviews this one is is when you hit a golf ball it pretty much doesn’t have feedback it’s just so thick and heavy most of them just come off feeling really soft and and you just you can’t tell there’s no feedback one golf ball feels exactly like the other not the case here the vice Drive actually had a little bit of firm press had a little bit of feedback I liked it it came off really good on true rolls and uh I mean distance control was great I again something I didn’t like about the vice Drive the old model the new one is a lot better with the Putter and then when I switched to the blade putter it actually had a lot louder of a click it had a lot louder of feedback but again I was actually hitting it past the hole a little bit with the blade putter I had kind of dial it back that’s good it’s good when a golf ball really comes off the putter well the last thing you want is to have to really come back far with the Putter and and hit it and with firmer clicker golf balls that’s usually the case but since they’ve softened this up it’s just done wonders for the putting all right so good to see it did decent around the greens uh let’s get into the performance numbers of course uh I got to say the ball carries that feeling over to the actual irons and drivers as well it actually feels softer than the vice Drive old Edition did uh this newer one does have a little bit more spring in the steps so I’m hoping these numbers are really good let’s first start off with the 50 yard pitch as far as your yard or your spin RPM 6,788 not bad I mean that that’s kind of uh a little below average compared to what I’ve seen from everything else uh it is a two-piece distance golf ball doesn’t surprise me a lot of people are going to be turned off by that just simply because um you know it’s not going to stop on a dime 6,788 what I would normally get with like an eight iron or a nine iron if it was you know on the low end but U for for a 50- yard pitch that is abysmally low and it was pretty consistent there so it wasn’t like some were 8,000 and some were 5,000 it’s just it was consistently around the 7,000 Mark so little disappointing there let’s get into the nineiron now let’s see how it did there uh start off with the spin as you can see that nineiron full swing speed spin is five 6,518 so this golf ball just isn’t going to spin a lot it’s just not uh ball mile per hour speed 94.1 that’s not bad at all it’s uh not eye popping or anything but it’s a very good number 121.6 uh 12.8 a 23 launch so just slightly above average actually more of a mid really um those numbers aren’t bad those numbers are actually pretty good really good ball speed comes off the club well you’re going to get that forgiveness you’re going to get not a lot of Sid spin just kind of right at the flag I talk about it all the time center of the Fairway Center the green two putt move on that’s what a lot of intermediate beginners need to really focus on I think that’s really good uh those numbers really promote all that and really the only thing I’m seeing that you know maybe as an ant is again that spin I wish that spin was a little higher but hey maybe it’s a ball that just doesn’t spin a lot getting into the seven iron 5647 uh yeah that’s definitely on the low side for sure it’s going to be harder to stick greens especially since it doesn’t have a urethane coating 108 on your ball mile per hour speed which is uh you know average I mean that’s just a it’s a good number it’s not great but it’s uh it’s just consistent what it needs to be 149. 148.5 on your distances wish I had a couple extra yards there but I mean uh you know we’re splitting hairs here uh 18.7 on your launch which again is mid yeah again kind of the same thing as the nineiron and this is what the vice Drive old Edition did too the 2019 model I believe it is um there was just a lot of like good like a lot of like average you know what I mean like hey it’s consistent it’s right what it’s supposed to be uh it’s just not eye popping like some of these other ones you know when I tested the Chrome tour and it broke every record it’s like that’s eye popping you know when I tested the sugar golf ball and everything was eye popping you know that that’s sometimes what you look for in these golf balls to get a 10 out of 10 performance but unfortunately here there just wasn’t a lot of eye popping it’s just good consistent numbers uh what really saves this golf ball is the value the design you know things like that the durability stuff like that uh as long as it just has good consistent numbers though it can get a passing grade so far so good there let’s get into the five hybrid 4,849 which is actually um not bad but again on the low side of what I’ve been getting lately 121.1mi I have 178.6 5.2 16.1 on your launch so it actually is launching pretty high um I you know I’m who knows that could have been me as well but that is a high launch it looks like the hybrids are able to get the ball up in the air really well those are actually really good numbers so those are a little bit better than I’ve been getting as far as with the nine iron and the seven iron uh five hybrid numbers actually kind of jump up maybe one degree and say Hey you know these are actually pretty good numbers that’s a really good ball speed um the only thing again is just kind of the spin I wish it was a little more but hey if it ain’t going to spin it ain’t going to spin let’s get into the driver hopefully it doesn’t spin on the driver either uh that’s where you don’t want it to spin most of the time uh get into the driver here 2,351 which actually is on the average mid high side compared to what I’ve been getting lately which is ironic um 219 and 27.8 those are really low Ball numbers uh and also 134.5 so that’s interesting there we’ll talk more about that in a second it did launch mid at 14.4 so not too bad there what I would say say about that ball mile per hour speed is that’s the same ball mile per hour speed I got with the speed soft ink which I expected that with the speed soft ink because it was such a low compression that I was by the time I got to the driver I was overc compressing it and I just wasn’t able to get as much you know juice out of it but this golf ball is rated by Vice at a 95 compression there’s no reason I should be overc compressing the golf ball at that point um now granted sometimes hey I’m not the best swinger with the driver but here’s the thing I’m getting like 141 142 143 with all the ball have been testin lately 134 is a significant drop off like that’s that’s enough to have a really bad score um it’s weird to me that the vice Drive despite having a high compression number is performing that little uh there’s something going on there but with the driver it just wasn’t popping off I was losing quite a bit of distance um again it I I I firmly believe that it’s going to be a slow swingers golf ball but again with Vice advertising 95 compression that’s not slow swingers that’s pretty decently High swing fast swing speed you’re you’re looking probably 90 to 100 I don’t know that that’s kind of weird to me it’s a little inconsistent but it’s the only inconsistency I found so far so uh let’s go ahead and talk about the durability real quick uh looking at this golf ball it looks brand new there’s a couple minor scratches here and there as you can see from the paint but other than that it is in perfect condition uh it’s almost as close to a store as you can get like I said earlier that Dupont sterland is really really good and uh it showed it showed right here from these pictures so really good stuff there all right so with that being said let’s get into the closing thoughts here um the the problem I have is that this is where I ran into the issue with the vice drive now the vice Drive still ended up in the top I believe 40 great golf ball but the ultimate problem was is that the performance numbers were you know okay either okay or good you know what I mean there was just nothing that really stood out nothing that really popped off the page and it put it in a mediocre spot just because it had such a great value score it had such a great design score now those have been bumped up to you know even higher levels but I just wish there was more more eye Poppy I wish I mean if this golf ball had you know the type of numbers that the Wilson zip had you know the qar tour has where it just pops off the club and really gains I gain a couple yards this would be a top 10 golf ball what really helps this golf ball is you know it’s a 9 out of 10 on design it’s a 9 out of 10 on durability it’s a N9 out of 10 on it’s a 10 out of 10 excuse me on value those things really Propel this golf ball up uh they get them high into the list now I know a lot of you are like Nick all I really care about is the performance and I get that but there’s a lot of great performing golf balls that cost a fortune and if you want to spend $60 or $70 a dozen on them that’s fine or even you know 40 on a two-piece golf ball that’s fine but the reality is is that for a lot of Weekend Warriors and a lot of people who just want a decent you know good performing golf ball that isn’t going to hurt them maybe it won’t help them as far as their yardages but it’s just going to be nice and consistent with what their averages should be but they’re going to save a fortune and have cool designs and give them confidence that matters too and that’s why this Falls so high it is an improvement over the 2019 version uh they’ve done a lot of things right I just wish numbers popped off the page a little bit more it’s hard not to be impressed with the new Vice lineup so far the drive is off to a great start I hope the other balls improve as well uh you know the the pro soft and the pro were top 10 on the list so if those golf balls improve even a little bit they’re going to be even higher so that’s going to be exciting too so hey guys as always keep watching to keep saving keep learning next up we have the vice tour which will be coming
