guys welcome back to the channel and welcome to day number five of this 30-day challenge today I’m going to be showing you guys how to hit it farther I’m going to go for three points which is going to allow you guys to be able to hit it farther from someone who actually hits it far I’m hitting the core model qi1 with the TPT 15 low set at 9° so let’s get right into this video thanks for tuning in hope you guys are ready to learn how to drive your buddies and whoever it is but you’re just going to be hitting farther after this video I guarantee it let’s get right into it first point is the grip [Music] okay so for the grip this is a key component on like building a golf swing right like there’s a lot of people who have just grips are all over the place are not even paying attention to their grip and that is leading to uh loss of distance you know you’re missing Fairways you’re spinning the ball too much and a lot of it starts with how you’re gripping the golf club so what I like to see for a driver is when you set up to it I want to see a bit of a stronger grip now some people are like oh I miss it way left I don’t need that we’re going to address that okay so like to see a stronger grip I got to have my left thumb I want it to be more um more on the back side of the shaft right so when I set up to it and when I grip the club as I look down I want to see two I usually see about three Knuckles but the biggest thing is seeing this this line right here in my thumb between my thumb and my hand here is pointing up towards my right shoulder as I have my side Bend I want to see the club looking exactly like this and then my right hand simply matches that right there this right here would be considered a weak grip this right here is matching the face right um I just from that position it’s really really hard to hit a golf ball and hit it consistently you’re also going to be struggling with potentially messing things up in your elbow so if this was the top line of the shaft you’re basically your thumb is right the right side or the left side of your thumb is basically sitting on top of the shaft so it creates that right there this hand matches it that’s the perfect grip in my opinion it’s a little bit stronger it allows you to close the face which a lot of people struggle with struggle with slicing it this allows you to get the face more square and you’re getting hit a lot straighter before we move on to point number two I’m going to kind of show you guys and I have I have the dots on here so I’ll be able to show you the face angle in which a a a weak grip creates and it’s most likely going to be open but sometimes your brain will play tricks on you and be like you’ll slam it shut get your really hard to control the face if you’re not kind of taking one side of the course out of play so a really weak grip would probably produce shots that look like [Music] this and this is a perfect example that that number right there clo PA is perfect weight grip causes the face to be open especially when you’re showing it fast so it stays behind you it causes a really open face and that thing is off the planet um I’m going to go ahead and hit one more to show you guys and it’s literally so hard to you f the face same thing plug path is only at 1.2 de face stays open you’re always going to hit it to the right all right so right there I was swinging about like this back of my hand almost matches the face but now I’m going to move it to my normal grip which is a which is stronger just like we talked about I’m going to show you guys how easy it how much easier it is to keep the face Square even get it closed and start getting a job for the [Music] left so look at that that’s little the perfect example all I did was change my grip from very weak to a little bit stronger and when you have a stronger grip as you’re coming through impact it literally just the way the body is set up the way your arms are set up it allows the face to close you don’t have to think about manipulating it you don’t have to think about trying to close it just by getting the grip stronger it helps you close the face you can see right there and did not go right is a very good golf shot all right so the second thing that I want to talk about is the sequence of the golf swing a lot of people with driver they think that if I just swing harder then I’m going to hit it farther and that’s actually the exact opposite of being true and what I mean by sequence is I’m talking about at what points in the golf swing is your body firing to create speed right so as I get to the top I’m not thinking about creating speed here at the top of the back swing I’m thinking about creating speed at the bottom so everything is building up from the from the start of the Swing all the way to the top and then back down everything is building up to this position right here and once I get into this position that’s where speed is created and a lot of people think oh like you know in order to create speed like I need to swing faster all of these things yes faster equals more speed but that doesn’t mean you’re maximizing everything and everything efficiently right all right so once my grip is established then I’m setting up to the ball right when I set up to it I always set up with the ball right inside this at this left heel that allows me to be able to hit up on it so as I set up to it make sure that your your spine tilt is more to the right if you’re a right-handed golfer so you’ll see how my spine here is kind of leaned away from it that’s allowing me to hit up on on the ball obviously creates more distance when you hit up on it but that’s the setup when I talk about sequencing I want to make sure and get to the top of my back swing with as little of stress in any one of my muscles as possible so as I take it to the top I will I’ll often like do a drill where I take it to the top and I stop and I figure out where I’m holding tension cuz a lot of people when they hit it when they want to hit it farther they create a lot of tension cuz they think tension creates speed and all these things has tension you want to hit it harder that’s actually for me this is not true at all when I go to the top I take it up and I stop and a lot of times I’ll be holding a lot of tension in my chest so I’ll go back down to the bottom and I’ll redo that while getting up to the top with zero tension anywhere once I get to the top and I start my down swing that’s where the tension and like all the Fashion on the muscles start to fire right so I focus on getting to the top with no tension and then as I’m starting my down swing that’s when I’m feeling muscles starting to Fire and that’s I unbelievable amount of speed is created by having very little tension and then as I’m starting my downswing that’s where the tension starts so when I talk about sequencing that’s what I’m talking about so do some drills you can swing a golf club in your living room whatever it is practice getting to the top of your back swing with no tension in your body and un and feel that right you’ll be able to feel it you can you can pause you can feel it if it’s in your in your core in your legs wherever it’s at and just practice making swings getting to the top of your back swing with no tension and then firing that’s what I mean when I talk about sequence it’s kind of hard to demonstrate this but I’m going to make a couple swings where uh I’m holding my breath I have tension and you’re going to just you’re going to be able to tell the fluidity is just not the same a very tense back swing will look something like this not a bad golf shot but it just it just feels really weird when you have a lot of [Music] tension so then when you’re able to let all that tension go you’re to create a a fluid swing probably going Le something hopefully for like this speed happens on the way down not on the way up unless you’re a long drive guy I mean those guys are they think about things totally different than just normal golfers so sequencing understand where the tension is in your body make practice swings you can do this at home you can do it anywhere make practice swings and I guarantee you once you start to notice it you will understand where that tension is you’ll be able to let it dissolve you can make a very very efficient golf swing you’re going to be surprised that you’re going to gain distance overnight I promise the final point of this video speed is not near as hard to achieve as you guys think it is it’s more about creating efficiency in your golf swing that will allow you hit it farther so the last point is using the ground properly this is something that I don’t feel like anybody really does efficiently um there’s people who hit it pretty far but they still are not using the ground to their advantage so I’m going to show you guys how to do that right now Roy maoy is probably the best example of someone who uses the ground extremely efficiently I think that I use it pretty efficiently as well but Roy maoy is probably the best example for you guys if you watch him but he swings a golf clip he stays very tall in his back swing his head doesn’t drop very much and then on his down swing you will see his head drop probably 3 4 5 in at least and what he’s doing is he is loading into the ground and then as he gets down to uh as he gets down to this position here then you will see him start to come back up and he is pushing off the ground if you had pressure plates I don’t even know what it would be but he is literally pushing off the ground as hard as he possibly can and I’m doing the same thing so when I get to the top of my back swing it’s almost like you feel it doesn’t it happens in it happens in very small margins but the feeling is when you get to the top of your back swing you’re loading as you’re turning and then one once you get into this position you’re actually pushing through this through this lead leg pushing into the ground and the harder that you push up the more speed you’re going to create at the bottom and I’m going to hit a couple I’m going to kind of exaggerate it a little bit and you guys will be able to see that as I start my down swing you’re going to see pressure into this toe and it’s going to feel like I’m pushing back right and the harder you can push back the more speed you’re going to be able to create at the bottom and it allows you to be more consistent the more I feel like the more effectively you use the ground the the easier it is to control the face because you’re more relying on rotation rather than flipping to try to get a square so let’s hit a couple really focus on where my pressure is on this lead leg and you’re going to see me pushing into the ground [Music] [Music] [Music] hopefully that is about as clear and concise as it could be grip sequence and how to use the ground those are three things that I’ve understood and I’ve learned and they have really helped me at a lot of distance to my game I know that distance is not the most important thing but it is something that if you hit it straight and you hit Fairways and you hit a long ways you do over the course of 18 holes give yourself chances more chances for birdie so here’s the deal I would love to see the progress with you guys tag me on Instagram tag me on all the platforms let me know how it’s working also guys if you want to get bad birdie apparel at 18% off click the link at the top of description it’s the only place you can get it time to be a badass this year all right see you guys [Music]

  1. Thanks for the tips man! God bless you and Grant giving praise to our father YshWeh in that last match video instead of all the “golf gods” talk most YouTubers use. So refreshing. Curious how much your going simulator setup cost? Pray you have an amazing day and dwell in the shelter of the most high ❤️🤙✝️

  2. Why's everyone so delusional? He's a good quality golfer not a pro but I regularly shoot in the low 80s and this guy would smoke me any day.

  3. How much of your speed do you attribute to lifting weights? What are your deadlift/squat numbers? Thanks

  4. @micahmorris The tip about relaxing and not tensing on the backswing, to coil and explode in the downswing is something that doesn't get spoken about in so many other videos. I've just practised exactly that this morning. Ball striking and distance the best I've ever hit a ball. I didn't realise how much tension was in my backswing till this video. Thank you brother!! Excellent video and something slightly different from the videos I've watched online.

  5. I would love to see him play a round of golf with a neutral grip. I think he would hit 310 carry onto the fairway instead of 340 into the trees. The trees are full of big hitters. His videos are really entertaining, but 4 errant tee shots in a round really blows up your score. His recent video that had him trying out for a tourrnament and he shot an 86. I felt really bad for him because I was rooting for himI think on 14 holes he had pars or better, but those 4 holes ruined his round. With a neutral grip the ball would curve slightly right or left and he would rarely miss a fairway. I really wish he would make a video where he plays 18 holes with a more neutral grip!

  6. I am surprised by the negative comments. We can all learn something from others. I am quite happy to take long driving tips from someone who out-hit Rory in a fair driving competition.

  7. Really liking Micahs new content, I learnt most of this over the last year, but it's good to see it from a professional to confirm what im doing is correct.

  8. Taking golf instruction from Micah, is like taking honesty advice from Joe Biden…………
Wheres the Myrtle Beach video?? lose the ego dude, you are NO golf pro
The Elephant will always be in the room bro

  9. Spectacular video Micah. I've been stuck at ~113 club speed and ~171 ball speed for over a year and fighting a push exactly like in the beginning of the video because I was trying to weaken my grip. I recently realized that was a mistake and this video helped confirm that. I've never done much work with using the ground, but am hearing a lot more about this lately with watching Nelly and Bryson do this so well. Hopefully these tips can help this 40 y/o dude hit 180 at some point. Appreciate the content. Your game is really solid right now as well!

  10. Watch the grip portion right in the beginning. You will see when he goes from hitting it right with a weak left hand grip and then goes to show you how to hit it straight with stronger left hand grip there has been some editing done. I'm sure this is because when he changed it to a stronger grip he still hit it off the planet. It would be so much more real if he would just leave that portion of the video in there. We don't expect everybody to hit it straight every time. And after watching him ply we definitely don't expect to see him hit it straight lol the time. He's no George or Grant. Anyway I just wish he'd keep it more real.

  11. I don't know who cuts his hair but thats the next thing id be addressing at this point in his game. Well that and the wedge shots.

  12. The question is, would the average woman hit it as far as you. We know the answer is no. You are built like a unit. You should mention that physicals are a huge part of this. I have seen several pros, tried absolutely everything and typically don't carry it beyond 180. It's just not possible for someone of my physical standard.

  13. I've started playing golf at a young age and incorporated these tips into my game naturally overtime without instruction. I also hit the ball pretty far for my size and preach these same points to my friends with less experience when they want to know how I generate power. The first 2 points you made are pretty easy to follow, but from my experience, they seem to struggle with understanding how to use the ground properly. You also can't teach quick twitch muscles. You either have them or you don't and they also play a small part in generating club head speed.

  14. Maybe break 80 first before giving out swing tips clown. Guy is such an egomaniac and a complete fake.

  15. Literally played and practiced this today. Instant results if you do it right. Driving the ball 30 yards further. And more consistent. Great video !

  16. Sorry. Have to unsubscribe. Grant, FP didn’t play well but posted the Myrtle Beach video. Man up and post it. No shame in a bad round. Just own it.

  17. I watched this video when it first came out. I played today and hit my driver phenomenal. I drove a short par 4 ended up 11 feet from the pin. And ended up in a green side bunker another time. I never focused on clearing my hip or raising my hands. Had the lowest round I’ve ever had today. Thank you
