now joining us the latest winner on PGA Tour America’s Canadian Stuart McDonald Stuart welcome back to golf talk Canada and congratulations on the win thank you so much Adam thanks for uh having me on the show Absolutely okay so a two shot Victory what went right for you in Peru um you know I I guess probably a few things went right uh got some good bounces uh here and there just it’s kind of what requires to to get a win um but yeah just generally just hit it pretty good um I saw quite a few parts go in which is you know generally helps the helps the score a lot um yeah I don’t know just uh it’s funny because I haven’t been hitting it very good the past the past month and I kind of just I got a swing feel of super aggressive swing feel I was just trying to feel like I was hitting pull big pull cuts and uh the ball would kind of generally fly pretty straight and um just kind of rolled with that the whole week and um my ball striking was pretty solid and yeah like I said obviously made some putts and that was kind of the the dealmaker so I guess heading into the week you didn’t really see a performance like this coming I mean how how crazy is that yeah no honestly I I definitely did not um I think I missed the last four or five cuts maybe um yeah that’s not really not really my style I normally kind of when I’m playing playing well I’m not really missing cuts um pretty steady and if I’m not playing well then I’m generally going to miss a bunch of cuts and not really mix in a couple good finishes like I have recently so um no definitely honestly didn’t really expect it at all but um I don’t know I had my dad on the bag this week and I think that might have changed the Mojo up a little bit um but who knows golf’s a crazy game man it certainly is a crazy game and I know your father’s been through a lot just how much how much meaning did it have for you to have him on the bag to to help you through a time where you weren’t hitting at that great heading into of the week but he kept you level headed yeah um yeah means a lot he’s CED for me quite a bit in the past um recently he CED for me uh he CED for me at Second Stage uh this year for corn fairy Q School um I got through there so no he is a great track record um him and I do um but yeah just just to have him just to have him there with me this week uh yeah he’s been he’s been struggling a little bit but he’s he’s gotten a lot better and uh yeah it was just uh it was it was a treat and um yeah we’re not we’re not GNA forget this one and I know when you pulled your phone out of the bag after winning you had a little space special FaceTime with your wife Carly your young child to how special was that yeah that was uh that was super cool um yeah just I didn’t really think about it but one of the tour officials was just mentioning you know I had my dad on the bag I’m a dad now uh it was just kind of just kind of put things into perspective it was uh uh it was really cool to think about and um yeah super special to have Cari and grahe on the FaceTime just right after getting off the green oh that’s so special man now I mean what is it about Peru you won Peru back in 2017 are you gon to go for citizenship now I mean You’ have won twice in Peru we’re gonna we’re gonna name our next kid Lima I think um I don’t know I just uh it’s just it’s a beautiful place I don’t know if you’ve ever been there but it’s uh just right on the water it’s it’s gorgeous it kind of reminds me of like San Diego a little bit kind of like San Diego is Vancouver Vibes um but I don’t know just growing up by the water I just I don’t know I feel comfortable the climate’s awesome the People Are Awesome the the food’s the best I’ve ever had um um and uh one of my teammates is from there Fernando Barco I played at Purdue with him and he’s from there and his family’s always been super generous and and nice to me and so I don’t know just there’s there’s a lot of things um that were kind of going for me last week it just feel super comfortable there now after the win you move to number three in the fortnet cup standings how does this win change your expectations the rest of the way um yeah it definitely does I know um after the first six events on the Latin swing on this tour um they’re giving the first two spots uh number one and two on the money list um uh cord fairy starts status um so that’s kind of the goal um to finish out this stretch in that one or two spot um and kind of just solidify some some corn Fairy status super early on you know um and not having to worry about that you know necessarily that top 10 at the end of the year or even Q School um later on so that’s kind of that’s kind of the immediate goal um is finishing that one or two spot now obviously you’re traveling all over the world now give us a sense of where you’ve traveled today and the preparation that goes into playing again this week yeah um left um Lima bright and early this morning um pretty quick flight from Lima to Kito Ecuador it was like I think it was like two and a half hours not not too bad a lot of golfers a lot of golf bags um and then this week we’re playing at 10,000 ft so the elevation is going to be a huge Factor um and trying to prepare and and figure out um one how to play the golf course and two just how far your clubs are going um it’s probably going to be around 10% maybe probably a little bit more um I did play here last year so I I I have a general idea how how far the ball is going to go but um uh it just takes it gets yeah you’re looking at the Target and it’s 200 yards away and you’re thinking there’s no way I can get an Adar in there but yeah you definitely can and um yeah it’s gonna be a fun week oh I can’t wait to hear all about it and see some of the the yardages and the shop by shot that sort of thing now we’re we’re only a little bit away now from the Canadian swing how much looking forward to getting back in Canada yeah for sure yeah uh definitely really enjoyed it down here but uh I’m I’m gonna I’m going to enjoy the conven of probably traveling uh in Canada a little bit more um it’s going to be good yeah we got some good stops lined up um some great horses and uh yeah should be good it’s a really condensed season that there’s four in a row week off four in a row so it’s going to be it’s gonna be very busy it’s GNA be very busy and uh some long stretches away from home but um I’m still looking forward to it well before we wrap here we always have the winner on PGA Tour Americas on our show right after they win so
