The 🐐 makes it look so easy. Tiger and Fred Couples walked us through a few tips on how to hit the patented ‘draw chip’ that Tiger is known for and a few tips on how all of us can simplify our chipping motion with the crew at Bridgestone Golf.

hi I’m Tiger Woods here with Brookstone golf in PGA Superstore we’re going to show you how to hit a draw chip you are us Goose we we all right so we got plenty of green here to work with we got probably close to 50 60 ft of grain to work with I’m going to hit a little draw chip here it’s right to left grain running right to left as well uh for me when I try and hit a draw there’s a couple things if I’m going to hit a higher draw I’m going to have the face open but what I’m going to do is I’m going to try and close it up at impact for this one because it’s a low Runner I’m going to put my toe on the ground hands high aim right and swing right so wherever I want the ball to start out at that’s where I’m swinging so I have a shadow right here so toe on the ground high handle there you go ball back now if I want to hit on starting at that shadow with some draw spin I’m going to swing out to the right over that shadow [Music] is which produces a slight draw there you go now if I want to hit a a higher draw my my face will be wide open but an impact I’m trying to get it to almost square if not fully Square to put a little draw spin on it there you go like that so the best Chippers in the world the ball’s flying the same height almost he could hit this high or lower or whatever but this is a little bit of a draw and this the face is a little more open he’s using the bottom of the club but still drawing it yep but I’m closing the face that [Music] impact so that’s 6 in higher so you went from a tow in so this is what people kind of don’t don’t understand including me like when I’m chipping really well this this is a pretty easy shot but once you start doing other things and the ball gets higher it’s I don’t want it to get higher no that’s what I’m saying I want as low as I can to the ground I was taught by your your Mentor Rond Floyd and he’d always say always line with one a yard of the green foot foot to a yard on and let do the rest of the work and what I have found that works best for me whatever length of shot I have I try and imagine whatever Club I would need to make the same stroke I would with a with a putter so if I was going to hit a normal chip in a tournament this would be probably closer a nine iron so same length as I would for a putt so I wouldn’t want to change much and for and for someone who’s struggling chipping you can stand in here and if you’re an athlete at all you’re going to throw a ball to the flag that it looks exactly like Tiger’s chip you’re not going to do this because you got a club you’re not going to go like that the club’s going to come out of your hand and if you watch his right hand it’s turning and it’s so perfect so for people at home if you stand I know it sounds silly but even with 20 balls and you’re standing on you’re chipping and you just go there and you let the ball release out of your hand that’s a chipping motion that is correct so it’s always rolling

  1. Freddie!!! My favorite golfer to watch of all time. Was watching the first round of The Masters, thinking of where he was & what he is doing today. So glad this vid with him in it popped up today. Also love the TM MG wedges, that rusted look on Tiger's wedge is classic.

  2. Great tips gentleman!!! Can't wait to get out on the chipping green tomorrow!!! Good Luck in the Masters Tiger!!!!!

  3. Yeah. I do this. It works. Same way you hit a full swing draw.

Head back, let the hands go through first. 😂😂

Don't "Close it up at impact"…

Just focus on leaning forward on front foot, keeping head back and not looking at target through the swing and let your hands go through.

Tiger has the best hands ever probably, so he's making it look easy.

  4. as a casual golfer my most reliable greenside chipping stroke is a 9-iron stroked like a putt 😅

  5. This is good but why not play 9 holes and teach players how to hit each shot: drive, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, putt.

  6. I prefer taking the ball right at the stick and flying the ball directly into the cup, ideally .. landing it in the hole like its Apollo 11 touching down in the Sea of Tranquility .. rattling the cup sending the acoustical message back mission control that once again, the eagle has landed. Nothing more satisfying. Do I occasionally catch the flag stick and suffer an unlucky bounce?

NOPE!! There are no such things as unlucky bounces in golf, only deterministic outcomes based on the rules of computational reducability.

Practicing flying the ball into the cup on the fly with flop shops over a bunker to a tightly tucked pin is not only very rewarding, but can also teach you alot about parachute dynamics. Because that's how you want your ball to behave, riding the flagstick down vertically like Santa coming down the chimney, the only thing touching the flag stick is the shadow of the ball, bringing about the full sensation of golfing nirvana.

Balls are meant to fly. That's why they're called eagles, not worms.
