Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

when golfers are in the market for a brand new set of irons it’s often the case that mauno are at the top of golfer wish lists they make incredible irons and if everyone’s hit a mauno iron they know it nothing feels quite like auno so their tagline says now the drivers that’s a more interesting topic when I was growing up mauno drivers were so unbelievably popular in fact one of my first ever d driv as a as a kid was a Muno driver like they were the absolute bees knes over the last kind of 15 20 years driver popularity in Muno just dipped and there’s no massive reason why the their popularity in irons has gone up drivers have gone down well today in my hand I’ve got the brand new mauno stz 230 driver let’s give this a test potentially I’m in the market for a new driver at the moment this a good time to test Muno driver kicking things off look at that head cover it’s a bit it’s a bit old school it’s a bit old school classic mauno over the years have tried all different things to get people to try the drive they’ve gone for more of an old black head cover they’ve gone for different styles that is very traditional Muno colors the the blue the white this kind of lighter blue the big running bird logo here on the top of the driver head and a number one for driver just under underneath there quality good quality head cover as well really nice that again reminds me a bit of old school like I can imagine 11-year-old Ricky Shields grabbing this driver the head cover granted would have been smaller back then and wouldn’t have been one of these boxing glove ones but looking at that can go in Hill here we go this is a quality driver underneath we have the mauno stz 230 driver it’s a goodlooking driver Lots going on there is a lot going on actually but that’s actually a good looking driver we see a few things first off car almost looks like a carbon window on the top of the driver there it’s like there’s carbon underneath but they’ve almost put it in this almost perspect finish it kind of highlights the carbon but almost it’s more like it’s under the cover I’ve never seen it been done by that before it actually looks really good um underneath there’s quite a bit going on there’s this cortex chamber which is apparently helping with faster speed across the face helping the driver spin less as well increase the speed and delivers incredible solid sensation impact incredible solid sensation impact I’m I’m intrigued to try that also on this drive you’ve got an adjustable sleeve it goes up by two degrees down by two degrees and also can put it in an upright setting I’ve just got this set in standard 9 and 1/2 de of Loft and also underneath that kind of carbon theme continues that kind of almost perspects carbon window is underneath as well the reason for that carbon at the top carbon at the bottom they can move that extra weight and put it more in the perimeter to offer more forgiveness there’s lots going on there is I feel like this is a bit of a a change of Direction maybe again for Muno driver they went down a few different ideas of let’s say blue driver then they went all black and all quite stealth this feels like it’s very on brand for mauno um does look good it does now for the price it’s £ 449 so sits right in that category of Tade Callaway tit list Etc maybe just a tiny bit less than those guys um I don’t know may maybe my only criticism as much as there’s a lot going on it almost feels like there’s a bit too much going on it feels like there’s whoa like it’s quite almost garish I don’t know how long it would kind of it doesn’t feel very Timeless feels like this driver could date anyway let’s hit some shots let’s see how this performs I’ve just got a hazardous smoke shaft in this 6.5 low spin as I said 9 and a half degrees of Loft I’m excited I’m intrigued how is this mauno stz 230 driver going to perform I I like the look of it behind the bo it’s a beautiful head shape it looks very Square very inviting to hear got the running bird logo on top to aim for let’s see how this gets on [Music] that’s not a bad [Music] start oh a little I mean dead straight a little bit shorter than what I’d expect but first shot you know just a nice little warm up to get going it felt good off the face and I take that direction every day of the week in this review what I’m trying to figure out is is a mauno driver maybe something I want to contemplate using putting in the bag again them in the market of a new driver at the moment but also more importantly I want to share my thoughts with you guys whether a mauno driver is is capable of competing with the Callaway’s tight list tail made Etc um because again it was it was honestly if you played golf in the late ’90s it was all about mauno drivers it really was it just feels like this the the driver stock has gone down so much is it Justified we’ll find out [Music] [Music] of criticism and and I normally can’t tell we drive it but something I’m not very sensitive to but it feels quite heavy [Music] [Music] I’ll be long okay interesting start for the Muno driver the first kind of four or five shots i h they were okay like directionally brilliant everything was just a little bit from the heel I felt like I couldn’t quite hit the middle the last one then found this with a couple of drivers this year at aimed to try and hit that Mor from the toe absolutely smoked out the middle of the face so we might I might have just found a way of kind of finding the middle we might let’s say a bunch more and then those first few might be kind of counted as warm-up shots potentially cuz I wasn’t fine in the middle at all but now I am it’s got a lot more promise [Music] none of them i’ be disappointed that the course [Music] [Music] W okay so before I come on to the data of the mauno driver what do I think of feel sound and general performance well the feel was solid I know the big thing they talked about with this cortex chamber it gives Sensational feel impact it’s just a very solid feel like you just know when you’ve hit it on the flip side though you know when you’ve not hit it like you know if you hit the heel which I hit a couple from there you just know if you’ve not quite crushed it uh good for feedback very good I made the appropriate adjustments as I mentioned to start trying to hit the toe a little bit more and I started to find the middle so that’s positive sound really good like really just satisfying crunchy sound it’s not too high pitched it’s it’s just solid performance-wise mixed I’ll would say after the off-centered hits wasn’t the best performing in the world it didn’t offer me loads of forgiveness on centered ones it was solid overall however on once I’d made the adjustment I started hitting a bit more closer to the middle these are the numbers that I found on average I was carrying this driver 278 yards not bad just not outstanding ball speed 158 miles hour and what was quite interesting more recently I’ve been swinging about 112 maybe even 113 for this the just the weight of it felt like I couldn’t swing it really fast swinging at 110.5 mph um and I feel like was all head weight as well it just didn’t feel like I could move this head through the air quickly enough uh spin rate was solid 2,400 I could maybe Crank That Loft down a little bit but really the launch angle was good like the general flights were solid for me it definitely just had that little bit of a left bias but again that’s a little bit on me solid not incredible I think that’s the issue with Muno drivers good don’t get me wrong but never outstanding never outstanding enough for someone who uses a tailor made a Cali way a titless the Ping to realistically swap it for a Muno driver and that for me is the issue with mauno drivers good but just never in my opinion outstanding guys thanks for watching stay tuned lots more to come and we’ll see you next time

  1. Looking at the shoots hit , personally i wouod take a few yards shorter , for better accuracy, which is what appeared to be the case , even on the heel shoots .

  2. Hey Rick, I think you need to get fit for your next driver. You would probably benefit from an aftermarket shaft. And that would be a great video, seeing the difference on how this driver would perform with a properly fitted shaft for you.

  3. Rick hitting this with a shaft that he has no business in swinging. You can only hope that people have gotten smarter to the point where they will call out “lazy” reviews.

  4. That is about the most unfitting shaft that they could have sent you… it’s a shame because with something a bit softer you would have probably had much better results

  5. club reviews are so interesting because you're using a different shaft with each club. i'd love to see driver reviews with you using the same or similar shaft profiles… would eliminate another variable in your reviews.

  6. Almost half the video was about looks. From a marketing perspective I understand that, but performance is definitely the key. If the ugliest driver worked better than others, then that would be the driver for me.

  7. For 110 ss the ball speeds should have been in the 160s. So it’s not the club his efficiency was down

  8. Weight in the back tells me it is a more forgiving design. It looked like your miss hits were straighter than usual. Overall head and swing weight could be a factor but that is adjustable. You’re probably not going to find a bomber that hits it as straight. That’s the tradeoff.

  9. I use a mizuno iron set wedges and driver… but tbh the driver is inferior to my dads callaway for sureee

  10. Standard Rick Shiels driver review.

Hits it solid and 90% of the balls are playable on a course yet wont put it in the bag because its not carrying 300yards, again Rick drop the ego and go put your regular shaft in and see what the outcome is. You smashed the Burner Mini yet wouldnt even game that.. Cmon mate!

  11. You need to take a leaf out Petes book and use the same shaft in every review/comparison. Otherwise it's comparing apple's and oranges!

  12. As a teaching professional, watch your own video, specifically your set up. It looks like you are outside the front foot, might be to try and hit up on the ball, but surely you will be prone to swipe the ball. A couple of balls back in your stance would straighten things out, and give you a better ball flight and less spin. But hey, you are the teaching professional…..

  13. Love that their drivers aren’t overhyped. I’ve purchased multiple mint sealed drivers from Mizuno that are less than 2 years old for under $200.
