we are currently witnessing one of the most dominant displays of golf since Tiger Woods in his Heyday so we wanted to take a look at the clubs that are facilitating all this success so stay with me while we take a look inside Scotty sheffer’s bag the cas is starting with the driver and Sheffer has been driving the ball as well as anybody in the game for probably nearly two years now but this season he’s gone into the QI 10 from Taylor Maid now he started the year or the back end of last year in the Q I10 LS model as did Rory mooy and both have gravitated back towards the core Qi 10 model and I found in my testing if you read any of my reviews The qi1 Core was by far and a way my favorite of the family and I got my best result with it now Sheffer does a couple of slightly interesting things with his driver he’s got an 8 degree head which he Tunes up slightly to 8.25 and he plays it for for a tall guy who’s around 63 64 he plays it a little bit shorter than some a stock 45 in so he’s got a full extra inch of leeway if he needs it in terms of length to lengthen that driver he’s probably doing that to to ensure some more centered contact and really optimize his control another slightly different thing he does with driver he’s got a a little bit of a heavier shaft than Su say he plays the fujiura Ventus black which is a a really Stout shaft very very tip stable designed as a low launch low spin kind of a product but he plays in a 7x and I’d say the majority of Pros are using that shaft on touring their driver are in 6X which comes in at a base weight of 65 G where Sheffer comes in at 78 G so he’s playing a little bit shorter and a little bit heavier and that might be something to do with how many Fairways he’s hitting on to 3w and Sheffer uses the tailor made qi1 standard model interestingly he doesn’t need or feel the need to have the versatility or the adjustability of the tour model which you can move around The Loft sleeve change the Loft change the face angle which also has the weight on the back this is bonded huzzle you can’t move it it’s set at what it is again in shaft he uses the fujiura Ventus black because of the heaviness of his driver shaft in 7x he again goes slightly heavier than I would say what was it more standard with the 8X which comes in at a raw weight of 85 G so again that’s a pretty pretty heavy fairway wood shaft again with a very Stout profile very tip stable low launch and low spin and matches up with his driver so onto the irons and sheffy uses a really interesting combo set in his three and four iron he actually uses an older model Srixon The Zed u85 and he plays in a really interesting nipon nspr modus prototype hybrid shaft and by hybrid shaft I don’t mean it’s a shaft designed for a Hybrid Club it’s actually a hybrid of Steel and graphite it’s designed to just produce a little bit more launch at that end of the bag and I I don’t know if there any other Pro that’s actually using that correct me if I’m wrong down in the comments below then onto the five to pitching wedge he he uses the tailor made p7 tww irons which I always find a little bit funny because it’s not beyond the Realms of possibility that even now Shefler could find himself paired together with tiger in a tournament coming down the stretch and I don’t know about you but I’d feel a bit funny looking in my bag and seeing my opponent’s initials engraved on the club and knowing he designed them but either way a phenomenal set of clubs and they were designed for Tiger’s exacting specifications they’ve got a longer blade length a really thin Top Line and Progressive face Heights throughout and one of the most interesting features about them I’ve always found is there’s a little tungsten Billet that’s drilled right in behind the center of where impact should be it gives them a really incredible soft feel and real depth of strike now Sheffer plays those in True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour issue X100 Sha which is one of the most popular shafts on tour and you may not know this but the only difference between the tour issue Dynamic gold X100 and the stock tour of the stock x100s is they go through one more check in the weighing process and they select the most exacting specifications to match the weight characteristics that they want but other than that it’s the exact same Shar okay if you’re enjoying this video don’t forget to like And subscribe and comment Down Below have you ever tried any of sheffer’s equipment and if you haven’t but you want to get your hands on some check out the description below for some handy links to the best prices in your area on to the wedges and again Sheffer favors some older models he’s got a three wedge setup Beyond his set pitching wedge and two of those wedges are sm8 which are 2 years old one of the most interesting things I find about his setup is his Loft increments and I’ve got a little hunch on this but essentially his raw Lofts are from 46 in his pitching wedge he goes to 50 then 56 and then 60 which is quite a a hter Skelter Loft increment I heavily suspect his 50 might be bent a little bit weaker to create a 5° Gap from 46 to 51 to 56 don’t have that evidence that’s just a hunch of mine now another interesting topic is his bounce and he does something which I know Aaron dill and Bob Voki like quite a lot in his 50° got a standard 12 degrees of Bounce With The F grind so and that’s a a full sole with no added camber or anything like that he carries that F grind into his 56 but it has very Hefty and it’s actually the maximum bounce titless make with a 14° bounce in 56 before heading into a 60° which is a tea grind which has heavy heel and toe relief and is only four degrees of effective bounce that’s quite a difference between his sand wedge and lob wedge but again as I said Voki and Aaron Dill really like that they like their players to have options because you’re going going to come across all sorts of lies in tour events fluffy lies bare lies so having those two options in your most lofted wedges is really really useful again he uses Dynamic gold True Temper shaft but he goes down a flex so instead of X100 in his irons he goes to S400 essentially you’re not loading the shaft as much you’re not putting as much speed on it so you don’t need that extra stability and that extra stiffness and going a flex softer can actually help you with feel onto the putter now this has been a massive change for sheer if you cast your mind back to the end of last year and even the start of this year you might remember Sheffer having quite a few putting Wes and he really wasn’t getting the scores that his long game deserved and he long time been using a very blade style Newport 2 style Scotty Cameron before switching into the tailor made spider X Tour now he kept the very similar neck so the plumbers neck that that comes on the Newport 2 style putter but the putter as a whole is much more of a higher Moi Mallet putter it’s got a sering insert which is essentially kind of the material that’s on the ball so it feels very soft off the face and that has pure roll grooves which really helps that ball get rolling quicker another interesting point is the true path alignment on top of the spyer X Tour has actually stopped Sheffer needing to use a line on his gol for which he feels has freed him up a little bit in the putting process spec-wise again he’s slightly different to some he uses 35 a half inches which is pretty long most standard sort of putters particular you pick up in a pro shop coming around 34 in so 35 a half is quite long uses three degrees of Loft and he’s slightly more upright than standard at 72° whatever he’s doing at the moment is certainly working so it’s worth checking out yourself okay on to the golf ball and Sheffer is playing the titless Pro V1 now this offers a lower spin in the longer game and a slightly softer feel but it still offers plenty of Spin and control around the green and he’s been pretty deadly with his chipping of late an interesting point on his ball is Sheffer only uses the high numbers the five six seven and eight as opposed to the 1 2 3 4 that you tend to see more standardly at retail don’t know the reason behind this but it’s obviously working for him at the moment and probably a Superstition he’s going to continue [Music] with so that’s the clubs and Bal done but there’s a couple of more interesting things that Sheffer does with his equipment and they’re both to do with the hands first of all these grips he uses a Golf Pride Tor velvet reminder grip or ribbed grip some people call it essentially it’s a raised Spine down the back of the grip which gives some guidance about where to place your fingers but that’s not the interesting part the interesting part for me is the buildup tape that he uses he uses six layers of double-sided tape and double-sided is thicker than standard buildup tape so he actually ends up with very very thick grips which are probably a touch thicker than midsize grips the other interesting thing that remains in his bags and any of you have read any of my stuff on golm monthly.com is his training grip so he uses this molded rubber training grip in every single practice session and warmup that he does which leads me to believe that placing his hands on the club in the correct way is really important to Sheffer and could be a really big part of his consistency any of you who watch him on tour next time you look watch how fastidious and careful he is about putting his hands on the club in the right way and this just reinforces that in practice and if you want to try it for yourself check out the links in the description below and find one yourself

  1. Will there ever be golf equipment for the low waged that is decent enough to inspire us to play the game? Or is golf really for middle class and upwards?
