let’s get the action underway there’s the handshake here’s the lag this has been a rivalry for years in the making look at this lag it’s a little short I [Music] believe sha mentioned to us this morning he’s feeling a lot better with his hand well if that break is any sign I don’t believe he’s got a shot on the two Carl I don’t know if he can play the combo we’ll get a look in a moment when the cameras pick it up all depends on where the three is well he can see it Jason’s fairly recently signed a new Q deal Scott how long do you think it takes one of these players to fully trust a q that’s a good question for me it takes a a while a few months for these guys they’re playing with carbon fiber I feel that a lot of the carbon fiber shads are more of the same there might be some different subtleties and power obviously tips make a big difference could be more mental than anything for some guys we’ve mentioned Shaw very strong mentally all he has to do is put his mind to it it seems like he gets it done yeah one thing sure does have compared to aot does he has a very close Bridge hand puts his you know the hand that’s on the slight not in this instance obviously CU he’s stretching but when he’s putting the balls just take notice of how close his hand is to the Q ball yeah very Compact and cop two balls away from defeating Gorst when Gorst car the lead gets the job done remains undefeated G will live to fight another day Shaw making quick work and that’s what the good sha does when he is in Rhythm he is UN stoppable Hanoi showed all of us that Carl you have a little reality series with him and in my opinion it’s a mustsee if you go to Carl Boy on YouTube watch the reality series on Jason Shaw something to see he is a character a really good guy on and off the table very emotional player at times but he means well he treats people with respect yeah he’s a serious Talent been playing Q Sports from a very young age from about six or seven you know running around the pool all just getting a queue off the wall and slamming the balls in the pocket still loves to compete as well I know his father was also into pool yeah Charlie sure I’m sure he’s watching back home in Scotland Jason’s sister and brother-in-law they own a pool room in Scotland very nice pool hall as well that’s called MC alricks well I’ve noticed that Shane’s taking a little speed off the break and he’s getting a shot on the two Jeremy Jones likes to allude that nobody hits him harder on the cut break than van boning we had a little talk as he was practicing over here and I was watching him break I felt like he was just over hitting them a little a little bit he was getting frustrated yes he was making the one but the spread wasn’t real good well this spread is real good yeah it’s very rare svb doesn’t clear the table when the balls are like this I this is just easy work for SVP pretty hard to get flat on this ball or straight but it looks a little tricky he might be able to punch over come down that’s what he’s done manipulating the Q baller that’s the game isn’t it Scott it’s getting that Cube ball around the table leaving yourself these angles and carving your way through these racks and that’s gotten away from just a fraction he didn’t want to be that steep he’ll be able to manage without any trouble this angle gives us a better look he’s almost perfect couple of break and runs to start this match out table two match is just also starting out kopin Chung is at the table he’s playing young Bernie regalario regalario yesterday the star of the show really three real tough match is against all the three top Europeans Albin filler Sanchez Ruiz and he managed to win two out of three there so shows you what that kid can do yeah The Little Prince probably my favorite player to watch right now I guess maybe because he’s 19 but I really took a liking to him in Hanoi followed him quite a bit his performance was stellar oh Shaws got kissed in the corner he let up on that break hit him pretty soft much much softer than svb and he’s drawn it straight into the corner so that’s a m hit svb taking a look at the 39 Carl he’s got ball in hand on the blue two yeah that would be a wild shot selection especially with the layout here also I just think it’s better to run the balls isn’t it just get a few pots under your belt I know it’s svb he’s potted millions of balls but even so well of course into your point I mean most professional players will avoid the combination just to run the balls especially when the percentages are there bamb boning just 40 years old born July 14th 1983 you kind of feel like he could still be in his prime but he’s played so much pool over the years he’s got a lot of miles under his belt and a lot of titles here comes the QQ ball pinpoint accuracy born Rapid City South Dakota spends most of his time there likes to fish a lot he’s a salmon and trout fisherman likes the lake trout talked him into getting a boat Carl about nine years ago liked to fish from the bank I said man you need a boat and look at what he’s done he’s going to take game number three is indeed it’s all business here for the five time US Open champ shw knows how to beat Shane he’s done it before I’m sure he can do it again we’re going to take a quick break see how the end of this match ends [Music] up [Music] young Bernett has took the opening rack on table two against Co ping Chung every time we show you glimpses of this table it looks like coping chun’s just playing jump shots as always we’ll keep you posted how that match unfolds yeah Bernie took a loss yesterday to Ain ocean five games to two since then he hasn’t looked back and there’s the nice break again he’s going to come away with another shot and a fine one at that the pink Four showing signs of possible trouble does play in the lower left though if you can get good on the three he’s looking at it now are playing all ball fouls he’s going to have to watch out for that eight ball that’s right near the short rail on this lower end doesn’t want to get dead straight here Carl these side pockets are very small and I think he’s a little concerned about being straight he wants to get down here for the pink four now this must be a little flatter than we think he’s called his extension so he was straight Al the way he potted it looked like he could have come off the rail there yeah the problem with being straight there is that he’s got a little angle here can he draw out of it or does he have to go forward between the nine and six he’s going to draw out of it oh he’s gone into the six how is this going to finish I believe the nine has him cut off from the left middle thought he could go forward there had a gap to come up and down I think felt more comfortable drawing the ball is he playing it I don’t believe so well I thought he would chip it down underneath the seven and maybe come under the six I’m a little surprised he shot that ball like that it’s a blind ball we know how tough it is Shaw with an opportunity speaking of CHA just 33 years old born in 1980 he’s still a puppy Carl from Glasgow United Kingdom he’s also a world black ball Championship you know a little bit about black ball right won 2010 he he won that actually a long time ago he was 10 yeah 13 years ago well 14 now actually here comes the Q ball to me it looks like a different player today listen this is his own pool room he knows a lot of people in here you can tell when he wins a rack there’s just a bit more more of a louder Round of Applause he doesn’t want to not play a part in this league here this week of course he doesn’t yeah you see it’s just louder when Shaw wins a wreck 22 talking a two on table two burer has won another racking now leads two Z over Co pin Chong K pin Chong is at the table that’s what he’s faced with on that two ball he’s got to try and get over for the red three I’d almost have to say that little Co is possibly playing better than his brother this last year and they whole family seems to enjoy that they’re always right next to him US Open win by little Co was fun to see back to table one Shaw to break he’s got the one down take another look Q ball seem to track good here yeah it did track good he got the perfect kiss off the top the nine the 38 covers the two up not the best in Fortune he can get a piece of it I don’t believe he can make it pretty clever wow wow what a hit by Jason Shaw glued him to the back of the pink four yeah look at the CU ball here just looked like it was never going to kind of get there but at the very end just nestled onto the edge of the four S Fe beat kicking at the two good hit is he going to end up does this ball go down the rail past the nine yes it does not easy but it goes got a little work to do you see the four is near the eight Jason calling his extension so this is a key ball in the rack he’s also probably concerned about the seven ball coming back and forth looks like he’s elevating just a little he’s played that beautifully the speed was all too important that’s how he got the ball down well he’s elected to come to the short side I believe he’s gotten there but it’s tight oh he was able to put outside English on it Carl boy pointing out the captain Jeremy Jones practicing says he’s going to take on the winner well yeah there’s a bit of a theme I’ve noticed here between the commentators Frosty was eting balls yesterday JJ today there’s only me that’s not had a knock you’re up next chag Chaw making quick work of a tough rack it was the perfect safety in this rack that has HED surea wi another and you can just hear the difference his buddies his friends you know the the people that work in this pool room desperate for sure to go deep in this event table two Co pin Chun current US Open champ down against young Bernie The Little Prince but looking good here in rack three if Bernie can go on and beat Coop pin Chung I mean we’ve said that this field is is strong but he’s opening four matches don’t get more difficult do they no in the four matches he’s had have been nothing but Elite heavyweights he’s already proven to the world he can beat anybody at any given time might be the favorite to beat anybody at any given time especially in the next couple years made a ball oh look at this Carl yeah good job the one went in I mean it might have stayed over the pocket but the fact that it’s disappeared means he’s got an easy shot on this two ball well he’s never happy with his results had a little flick of the wrist or the hand there like he was a little frustrated he got the kiss on the QQ Ball but then the one dropped I think with this break Carl you just kind of got to take what it gives you especially if you hit him good you can’t control the outcome of every kiss on the table the perfectionist he is might drive him a little crazy at times internally this match is turning out to be everything we thought it would svb three ball Falls away from tying this up at three games a piece that’s the beauty of this format we’re going to have a lot of close matches we’re going to have a lot of great matches keeps the pressure on these guys doesn’t it this format yeah it certainly does and it’s a lot different from previous years purely because we’ve let VIP fans come you can just see them all crowding around the table these players want to perform for them just like they’re performing for our viewers at home we’re going to take a short break this match he [Music] 33 [Music] [Music] well we are being treated to some fantastic nine ball today it’s not disappointed just like this match Shaw vers vano it he’s always a good spectacle and there you see it’s 33 in a race to five looked a little flat that one yeah that was a big break opportunity for Shaw the good news for him is nothing straightforward for svb he’s got a shot he could play the one one rail up towards the eight with some right Spin and come down here behind the three [Music] 49 something like that problem is he’s got to hit it pretty thin so he’s going to have to hit it with some Pace just to get the three excuse me the one up unless he decides to just keep it below the right middle oh he’s hit it well he doesn’t want to catch the point yeah Shaw can see this ball he’s actually done not not bad there has he to get into it to avoid the eight yeah that was extremely thin thinner than it looked he really did well this is all just a focus on making the ball here yeah he looks like a different player to me today felt like with this being his room he’s got something to prove this week here in front of his fans and friends and family you want to revert back to that safety that svb played on the one I did mention he’s got to hit it thin and he did have to hit it thinner than that he was flirting with the side pocket when you do that he caught the point Shaw’s after the races yeah Shaw’s going to have to go long here top left corner pocket Al he knows every time he puts the nine it’s loud in here it’s a lot louder than everybody else so he’s also battling that as well I say battling it that’s what’s making him Focus this way yeah he kind of feeds off the crowd doesn’t he always has his performance at the Moscone Cup this year was something I’ve never seen how he controlled the crowd and you know he’d be on the two ball with a tough out raising his hands and pumping the crowd up and just I’ve never seen anything like it just played perfect could see his bridge on there looked so close to the QQ ball yeah uncharacteristically compact versus most [Applause] players there you have it Sha takes a 4 to3 lead you see Bernie regalo shooting the four two games a piece this is a big game for The Little Prince looks like he’s going to get there as well wants to come below the six he’s hit it perfect he’s got a a nice fluid motion back to table one svb to Break he’s had good results the score doesn’t show it he’s had real good results Carl on the break needs another one he’s missed the one ball well he’s hit those hard again much much harder than he’s hit the others and you got to feel that a little frustration was at play there but he’s hit those balls several mile an hour faster than the other racks yeah you could see where the one ball went that’s the beauty of this break rule you know in a lot of different games and different break rules you just whack the balls and hope one goes in but players are trying to PO the one you just hit it a little high off the top Point chance for sure got to get this one right I don’t know if he can drag the ball in or can he find a rail to come back down well not only that Carl but going back to his break look at the spread right you see where these balls are the the 3 49 the the five everything down here on this right side typically when you hit them at the proper speed you’re going to have that nice spread like svb did the first few games so now Shaw he got a little work to do three to the four and the six and eight watch outside pocket what’s he done here oh Dove down looked like it was going directly in the middle so big roll for Jason Shaw to avoid that middle sorry Frost I was just saying did he flick a ball no he didn’t really didn’t waver at all it was going where it ended up hitting looks like he’s entertaining the 68 combination from here Carl yeah what a big role that was there to keep sh at the table that just shows you what it means as well the fact that he’s gone over to get his towel giveing the que a wipe down don’t be fooled in thinking well this is a short race to five plenty of matches he wants to beat svb yeah there’s more to this match than just the event it’s svb he’s playing he’s going forward yeah this could be a fun shot to watch look at this hit has he over hit this ball this is unbelievable you could never dream in life you could overhit that ball Carl here’s another look watch the Q ball we’ve been saying it for two days these tables are playing quick so is there one last hope for svb oh and he’s hit this well if he misses the point svb missed a similar shot to this yesterday I don’t know if you were in comms or JJ I can’t remember but he ended up just trying to thump but this this type of shot missed it by a long way he come in today the first thing he did on the practice table he set up a shot very similar to this I think he knocks it down uhoh uhoh did he get hooked I mean he really powered the ball it straightened out off that long rail well he’s getting down which tells us he can pop this ball oh wow look at this Q ball so he had to spin that ball clearly or he wouldn’t have ended up here this Ball’s missable he’s not going to miss it but it’s missable it’s 44 Scott it is 44 sure had a chance got talk us through that shot where Shaw tried to get on the six ball it was a little bit of a wasn’t a bad shot was it unlucky trying to explain to the the average person watching well I think the most important part was he was just trying to make the ball I don’t I don’t necessarily know that it was a bad shot I think he’s just trying to make the ball he’s focused on position all sorts of things going through his mind at the same time I think he’s a little frustrated with just how the match has gone he’s broken well but you could tell in this last break that he overpowered the balls just a little bit and with that he gets poor results when he hits this cut break too hard the spread just doesn’t come out a lot of times he’ll make the one but the spread isn’t there and here we go would you have it any other way Carl no I wouldn’t it’s a one rack shootout to see who gets the point sure’s got the one ball no pot on the two it seems like every hillhill game there’s always something funny we’re going to start out with a defensive play kind of don’t mind that though I mean obviously when you sat as a neutral watching I always think well it’s nice when both players get to get out the chair and have a shot or two good shot good safety yes it was a good safety CAU the real th thin part of that ball I’m a little surprised he’s going to the jump que immediately so he must feel that he can shoot the two up towards the six and hold the qall behind the 37 but I feel like he could almost kick this two in it’s not frozen kick it off the left rail correct so the five ball is not really in the way yeah you’d spin it but he is elevated over the pink so this is obviously the right decision if he’s shooting it and he’s lost the QQ ball how is it going to finish wow wow Shaw’s big favorite to lay a good hook here though isn’t he he is but I can promise you that Shane isn’t upset Shaw calling his extension yeah on the tape table near where the shot clock referee is sat this ball needs to travel just missed the nine which it does yeah both both tables have a little digital clock so if you’re sometimes wondering what the plays are looking at they just keep an eye on the shot clock well this Ball’s leaked out so new life for Captain America well I believe he was trying to kick behind the ball I think he was trying to kick and stick and just caught it going in you can’t imagine he’s trying to hit that two going in with inside English Shaw shaking his head and did have space to get behind it would have used the eight as cover just happened to catch it going in what to do here oh what a great hit this was man what a clever shot oh it’s taken off that third rail four games a piece 4in pockets well you’ve got to wonder if he played to overcut the ball obviously he’d like to have made it but he knew the qball was coming down here Shaw framing just hoping something good happens and it has well he’s been known to be on tilt a few times he feels like sometimes he doesn’t get the run of the ball but I believe everyone gets their fair share not saying he shouldn’t just slam the ball but well Jeremy Jones and I were talking about that yesterday at times I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with it you need a bit of luck so was he trying to go into the eight there or is this what he played tricky spot wouldn’t be surprised if he fired at the bank but now he’s had a second to regroup so maybe I would be surprised and he’s played this down low but it’s going to finish poorly even if he is snooker svb I think a favorite to make this yeah this is what I mean it’s just I don’t think it’s a case of bad rolls and things not quite going your way I think it’s just positions like this I think if you look at someone like Ruiz I think Ruiz would have had you in a bad spot now absolutely he had the opportunity is he leveled out here you can make this definitely jumping it as he hooked wow I do not know what English he put on that being that flat to come out two rails but what a great hit that was want an angle to go towards the seven this will hurt sha and all if Shane goes on to clear the table sha he’s currently fourth from bottom one win from three so this would keep him on one win out of four and then all players are creeping away boy did he get the angle or is he straight you see the flick of his arm again you’ve got to know that Cub ball is going to carry on this equipment he can punch to the nine or he might be able to go forward play the seven in the left middle that’s what he’s done pretty good control there he had to punch underneath three balls away from defeating sha like Carl said don’t know how Shaw is going to respond to this after four losses and I don’t really think to your point Carl that it was a case of the bad roles you know things happened Shane felt like things were going against him as well so overall pretty good match I don’t think either guy played poorly svb one ball away from the win svb gets the job done what a match we was treated to there SVP five Jason Shaw four you can just see this match on table two Cole ping Chung that match is tied at 33 not for long so it’s this nine ball to get himself on the hill which he does so the current US Open Champion is on the hill we’re going to take a short break

  1. Shaw is such a whiney bad sport!!! I like the way he plays but he is bad for the sport!! Shaw…. You got worked… Congratulate your opponent and the ref in a respectful manor….I have lost all respect for this guy!!

  2. Such a whiny baby Shaw is. Oh you got snookered a couple times boo hoo it’s pool you’ve been playing it your whole life the balls don’t always roll perfectly for you. Grow up and accept defeat with a little grace. Such a poor losing baby.

  3. Good presentation but the loud music during the breaks was too much…I love listening to JJ and Karl but then the loud music hits and makes you jump

  4. if Shaw was born in 1980, and 2010 was 13 years ago, then Jason is not 33. He's 43. Or he was born in 1990 and so he is 33 in 2013. Arithmetic.

  5. Oh well, my comment was before I read all the replies to poolplayer332. The commenters just repeat what they are told. No addition need apply.

  6. I think it would be cool if the tournament was race to 5 in the earlier brackets, race to 7 in quarterfinals, race to 9 in semifinals and race to 11 in the finals. Really give a chance for the cream to rise to the top and the fans get to see longer games of the more interesting matches

  7. That is definitely a Lincoln. 😂What a sharp & motivated young man. Hoo-Rah little dude!
I am the first Lincoln at 50 & some of the kids I grew up with named their kids Lincoln. I travel teaching the hack of pool. Automatic or simple aiming systems, paramount, forward facing or center body stance, cue grip, delivery & timing or (transition). Transition being the most fragile part of the stroke.
It’s usually a direct indicator of skill along with stance.
Amateurs average .4 seconds in the transition or “backswing to front swing pause, and pros average 1.2-1.6. I’d love to give him an instant improvement & simplification of his game. ALL my students instantly play much better. No “dismantling & then relearning”. Kids never holding a cue are beating me in a few hours.
I’m going to also root for a Lincoln Webber next time I see him, say hey. Monica’s been one of my closer friends in pool since 1997 when she came to Arizona & my little brother played her pro friend. I’d love to give another Lincoln my clinic & repertoire. Pretty good at getting high level out of anyone & even getting pros back competitive. Keep waiting for someone to work with me the way I can with others. I’m one of the better billiard instructors I’ve ever known, but I don’t play well. Maybe after I teach you, you can teach me if you’re a Lincoln also. lol
I’m a Lincoln Webber fan now buddy. Keep doing Lincoln things little homie.

  8. This probably a stupid question, but why is the 4 pink and the 5 purple? All the sets ive ever used had the 4 purple and the 5 orange. 😅

  9. I'd be curious to know how many air miles Shane has accumulated over the years. There can't be many countries he hasn't visited.

  10. Notice Jason grabbed his cues before SVB shot. Can't understand how someone can sit still for the whole game to do that on the win ball. Or maybe I can?
