an absolute stunner the first weekend of May and the first of three rounds in this 10th kochan 1991 ladies open as we say good afternoon and welcome back to the klpga tour here in Kumi shei we are in the East central portion of the country at the G Zone County sunsan Club for 18 holes today the first of 54 playing stroke play and an anniversary celebration of this competition should be a fantastic afternoon of Gulf as mentioned and as you just saw an absolutely beautiful 25° and sunny day as we get the round underway with Kim re she is at plus two one of the members of the featured groups that we will be following closest this afternoon currently outside of the top 100 a struggle for her so far in the round with our leader hungu mean she shot a 66 and one of the morning rounds today number seven is a par four Jamie G at evens starting downhill it will rise towards the pin at the end really well considered and executed speed of the putt to set up a par of course coming off of an absolutely thrilling first major championship of the Season K PGA Championship next on the T on the part three pag Gua and she is going to roll that inside of a meter or so and Shen sung at even through the first five holes of her round in the greenside bunker on the par five6 she’s able to get up we have a fairly level putt for birdie speaking of birdies the first one that we see on the broadcast today it is EJ young back to back now six and seven two under keeps are just outside of the top 10 and Jung Yun G who for the vast majority of these past few events has been right up there in the hunt it has been a wonderful season for thus far as she chases that initial win and Son Bean she is on 18 but it is the mid way point of her round and almost hit the turn with an eagle and back to six t s trying to go up and down for a birdie but will graze the outside edge of the hole and not impact her score in the positive direction she was hoping it would j s the runner up at last week’s 46th kpga Championship a z Jung meanwood W her off despite a 60 in the final round that is yes you’re not reading that wrong 12200 par on Sunday go you also on her ninth hole round unable to keep it as close to the pin as her groupmate it is another course with the two green setup and once again we are playing to the right back young young for a birdie JS it in and gets it to [Applause] drop certainly disappointing for her last week as she progressively slowed down from Thursday all the way to the Finish as she finish tied for 19th in a tournament that she has won twice Kim it’s a nicely struck birdie putt it is just her second of the round she gets closer to even spee spee spee spee speech spe [Applause] so with another top 20 finish for bakang gang she enters this tournament third in the points trailing only Jung Yun and E Jung mean of course a 1.2 times bonus on the points for the major championships this season little left to right putt Saga definitely a sluggish start to the round that double bogey just a few holes ago knocked her back to plus four she regains the stroke and will to try and turn that into a bit of a momentum Turner j g once again inside the top 10 last week only a two under in the final day to finish tied for seventh position she is second in the points fourth in the money has been a very success and steady start to her 2024 season up to event number seven this week spe wasn’t the eagle that she came so close to attaining but three birdies on the way out three under par within five and Bogi free importantly halfway through her round [Music] hit and a Skip and ultimately about 5 m beyond the flag Ting off on the par three well 54 holes of stroke play in the 10th K on 1991 ladies open last season we were reduced to just four excuse me two rounds of competition with some in weather that doesn’t appear to be anywhere near the risk and it should be a brilliant anniversary edition of this tournament hungy mean our leader a 6 under 66 Anan 4 under 68 and several players jockeying for that T3 position in this opening round Friday great to have you along the sth event of the season on the kpga tour don’t go anywhere so much more golf to be had as we kick off another great weekend of golf for for this for e for e for for for for e for and welcome back to golf Zone County Sun Sun CH Yuni appears to be a touch mystified as to how she was not able to collect her Birdie ejm the 12 birdie Queen from one week ago Stuck On a twoot par ends the spell of backto back Birds and Chong an opportunity to get back to even that’s a tricky downhill punt that is well offline and this needed speed to ensure that it reached and Richard certainly did Jam gang her first of the day as the gallery are UPS in Celebration and bakang just hanging that to the outside and failing to progress time to see now the short game fares and yes the touch around the green is absolutely dialed in a good sign now it’s not a position you want to find yourself in frequently but when you’re there it helps to be able to work your wedges as good as that was pi for and pangang onto the next arriving at the par three some time since her last spread out on the front nine two and eight the iron in hand on this 171 yard 156 meter very very tricky par three the longest on the course she is well off to the front [Music] [Applause] she’s able to get back to even tied for 302 halfway through the round with a birdie on the part five J Yun she avoids the rough but does not find the green the distance was right on the money she’s pit high but misaligned on the long par three five iron or hybrid is often the decision it is the ladder here 13 yards from the back of this screen and going to have just enough to stay up as well they’ll wind their way down Serpentine path towards the hole for for for for for for there the [Music] fore to the par three we finally reach and the first to play nearly was able to Ho out as the ball hovers agonizingly over the hole it’s a t in required T Yuni with a par rocking back on the heels she thought she was just about to begin a nice little run but denied and to grit her teeth and stomach that it will be no more than a par so 6.3 for buy youngyang working downhill right at the crest drops to the front or the back of the green he’s right on the line and was always going to have her work cut out for her to get it all the way [Music] and to 10 can’t be much more front located than that one terms of the pin placement the ball carries down and comes to rest around the Center and now CH s the next to play at 8 and another opportunity to get back to even here comes the break maybe just starts a fraction too early one hole remaining on the front nine one over par of the score tucked in neatly as well okay June we’re going to skip and roll and just get on to the front of the green driver in hand for and the photographer has to duck to get out of the way of the drive that skips onto the cart path back Y young and her caddy having the gravity of the moment set in that she has gone and missed wide J young only 83 M out on number nine and goes right at the PIN that extra Back Spin inherent with the high degree of that wedge prevents her from traveling any further for foreign it’s a par five to ends the front nine and a par five to begin the back we have another player who has gone and missed wide J no drama that’s the case first and third shots with driver bite the [Music] please nice no [Music] E4 men and how lovely is is to see her back spending a week with us on tour okay Jun this is a look at Eagle it is a long way away it requires that large of a back swing and even then it’s not enough to mount the summit and because of it he’s going to roll for [Music] a downhill punt into the wind she has some of the best Vision es so young of anyone on tour she knows when she’s gotten her birdie about a second early she goes yep that’s online and she is able to Peak under par okay June for birdie at nine but also shorts [Music] nearly to the end of the front Fairway just off into the rough it’s 238 for CH son and they B to return to the Fairway without incident AJ young it’s a 34 on the way out just outside of the top 10 a bit disappointed not to have carded one more birdie [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] just off of the drain in the rough is bangyang she’s going to try and reach and just about blasted that down onto the green so she’s just short as she looked to only do it in two [Music] she’ll be absolutely tickled pink with an approach that goes pin high and should be a very attainable birdie it is an absolute stunner of a day on this Friday Kumi our coverage of round one of the kochan 1991 ladies open the 10th anniversary will continue for e for for for for for e the touch as where used to seeing from her that will be anything but a straightforward putt for par up the hell to the bottom of the cup 36th and final stroke of the front nine Boi’s at two and six bir’s at five and nine even in TI for 38th okay June playing her second on the par five goes all the way to the end of the Fairway and it’s shifted to the left which will give her a clear line of sight to go at the PIN young while she went around looked like it was going to stay out but after hovering for a moment and says okay I’ll drop for she paced it out picked out her break point and now Jung yji must have this to avoid aogi is really well with it and pun Min G for birdie so ground to make up sitting above the hole she will tap in for aart J young only 87 7 m remaining for her she’s on the green and rolling towards the middle of its depth hovering over The Fringe jaming G at 66 M even closer the smidge pass pin High she can certainly work with that and while we wait for the next set of punts we take a tour through hole number 10 492 M that places it as the longest hole on course by a fraction more than the six a dog leg left and a pill should be a fairly reasonable t-shot this wide and welcoming Fairway from there advancing down the second stage of the first cut of grass and then playing over the bunker to the green on the left pin on number 10 it is located 6 yds from the front and four yds from the right Fringe [Music] and EJ young it is swooping right to left and will prevent a stroke from being gained w the [Music] going the D Johns have been played down the Fairway the group advances and jaming gang on the putting surface to which our featured group will head he loops around and stays out as we reach 300 p.m. local time Kishi hour number two of our coverage of this 10th Ken 1991 ladies open sh speech spee J 253 JS left trying to get back into the Fairway and up the hill accomplishing that primary objective I need Jang with the downhill Drive disappears behind the mound on the right side of the Fairway but should remain in play and in regulation again 243 slightly pushed right into the rough that pick up before her on hole number nine to go along with birdies at four and six have her tied for third and three back and now Jam young one under on the 11 Jo on seven back here at 11 but a chance to get back to even really good speed and an good read of the line 87 M for CH s a reminder she wants to stay to the front right of this screen for and the second for Cham G she is playing nine iron 11 she has to get all the way to the back that’s precisely where she’s gone one of her best shots of the day is an exceptional effort [Music] finding her strides just as she had done in the opening round last week when she picked up her lowest score of the competition she will hope that that pattern doesn’t remain and just as chaming gang had done she locates the portion of the green she wanted to attack but unfortunately can’t stay on top of it and coming with speed look out ball and hey she’ll take that a fortuitous carum closer to the hole sh and from the bunker Chung Yuni the first step in the road to recovery played well [Music] and now pman she is still stuck at even and has to convert from outside of 10 met to go under par it loops around and paky Youngy downhill a long way back towards the front of the green to just about 20 cm short on a valiant try she tap in for her [Music] par a hoop and a holler as AJ young just about a hole out from off the [Applause] green still no birdies for her since hole number seven and we’ll continue to trail by those four strokes it’s 5.2 from Chang just inside of The Fringe [Music] that is a very nicely executed punt back to back now nine and 10 under power TI for 24th some momentum earned this is a much better representation of the break right to left and right on the money [Music] Jam young had to work hard for that one two birdies in the last four holes now and just outside of the top 10 three and a half for Chung y g to save her par another one where she’s put herself in this uncomfortable mid-range handles the pressure of the putt and avoids dropping a stroke P Jun to get closer to even she hases the deficit is birdie number one today and hopefully for her sake that can spur a bit of a comeback in the second half half of the round and we are firmly in the second half of the round on a fantastic friday Kishi the race to the Wix Championship is back on 1.2 times the points last week at the major all for a total of 500,000 weix to be distributed to the top 60 with 90 million weix coins to the first place finisher that goes along Ong with 20 million Korean 1 and 1 million per month to the monthly MVP on the tour 4 okay quite literally a swing in a drive and coming nicely colorful scorecard how the years go by and the memories that can come racing back now 34 years of age one of the other states women of the tour seven wins in her career two major championships still looking to crack into the top 10 this season kimin 2017 2018 2016 three consecutive titles at this K 1991 ladies Open scores of five under four under and six under in each of three seasons e j young mean last week’s winner the inaugural champion of this tournament back in 2014 J an even par 72 today Joan she won in 2022 with a 14 underscore marvelous tournament for her she started the competition with a six under 66 not quite as prolific today it’s tough to maintain that level on a consistent bases you need everything to go right for you for [Music] the supporters the gallery was hoping that that ball would start to drift back down towards the middle foreign speech it’s a great birdie she was nearly on forace but it is nevertheless a birdie that takes her back to even after dropping to overpar at the last and the brilliant chots keep flying all over the course most recent from Chung Yuni let’s update the leaderboard for you as we near the bottom of the clock and you mean she is our leader with her opening round 66 and n hian four under 682 commence her tournament and three under well it remains a very popular score eight players including is suin 3 and baky youngyang still out on course with that Mark an additional 11 at two underpar tied for 11th with several still competing and completing their opening rounds we will have more as we take a quick reset and come green carrying the speed it needed to race up the hill no birdies to be found [Music] and here is a putt from The Fringe he’s going to pick up plenty of speed with lots of break but too much of that velocity doesn’t give the break a chance to do its thing and jaming young is going to remain at this two underscore for one more hole let’s check in ch y g 27 degrees still on course it is a scorcher on this third day of May the break here will be left to right just enough speed to keep it online G can pencil in another Circle one under five back she’ll go ejang to move within three and join buy youngyang yes great birdie our first in hole number seven She remains bogey free cruising right along a nice par save as we continue to bounce around the course our next stop well we head to the Fairway on 14 pman now over par after dropping in this middle stretch of the back nine and that is vintage p pin High 2 to 3 m if that off to the left of the hole certainly one she can do some damage with getting word of the birdie congratulating her groupmate as they wait for everyone to file in Yuni in her first drive finds the rough a nine iron on the par three for EJ young 139 M the shortest hole on the course it’s a very well executed t-shot to begin okay p young she’s still at that three underscore which she’s been for better part of 45 minutes starts next hole with the drive to the right side of the Fairway [Applause] sh a long overdue birdie to hopefully Kickstart her day okay June also is really nice white excuse me iron shot on this part three G salutes the crowd gets the stroke back that she lost on 13 she returns to even for j s with a seven iron at 12 from the Fairway to the green she skips on The Fringe and rolls slightly closer but being a bit short takes a lot of the speed out that’s back to back now for AJ young she moves within two tied for second as we get into the later stages of the round more movement towards the top the poite good shots might have been premature unfortunately not the worst but certainly not what she was aspiring towards [Music] [Applause] okay June it is two from three finally back to even for the day finding her stride as well about 2 hours hours remaining in this opening round company towards the top emgu also picking up a birdie to move within two so it’s a three-way tie for runner up two back of hungy mean four underpar the score to be at yina also worth noting she’s up into the top five at that three underscore also shared by Pang quick break and then more when we return to Kishi for for for for for for for clar the here Jung Yun G rolling right along and a 14 seven iron for p Saga at plus six it needs a few more shots like this to turn things around just about as an [Music] eagle pangang at 12 just the tiniest of chips marks that in real [Music] close becomes a simple par for her and now on to 14 four holes Two Strokes that’s what EJ young needs to record in these closing holes in her opening round if she wants a share of the leads CH s on 12 a look at a birdie just enough a dramatic one she’ll certainly take it it’s her fourth of the day her third since hole number nine she is just outside of the top 10 now birdie has to be expected up to plus five now back to4 the approach that’s going to have a really good line and have plenty of speed to get it most of the way there EJ young the next setup shot also arriving towards the front of the green and will be facing down a rather long buck in search of that penultimate birdie that she needs today fore spe bless well it’s a wonderful way to start an exceptionally well struck t-shot on number 13 pugman G on 15 meanwhile and again she is the furthest from the pin she was the last to tea off just a quiet stretch in the round for her now KN us up with plenty of work with the Putter and birdie won’t be found [Music] okay Jun is 6.6 she is one of the most informed players on the course at the moment just B off a bit more than chachu settle for a par a long way back has to start from somewhere and it’s to just about 20 cm short f no reason she can’t go on ahead and finalize that partman could go back to back now and rocking back on her heels and she tried to walk it [Music] in not the result she was seeking not the result she thought she was in line for birdie found by Jam young three under her third birdie quietly working her way towards the top as well and now CH pushes that to start and it couldn’t come back for her Joan she’s 139 M out on this Approach at 15 just clears The Fringe and is going to get a helpful roll back towards the pin with the green almost being tilted down from The Fringe towards the target not always the flash is today but consistent she is climbing second consecutive Pleasant dve to start the hole this is CH s next prancing down the Fairway right down its middle seemingly as well good that leaves p young young on the [Music] te she doesn’t look pleased with it despite the Applause and she’s not pleased cuz she’s out in of the rough yes for CH on on the 15th green is where we head next still at this point even on the round little downhill but to change that see absolutely overhead that did not need nearly as much speed perhaps trying to play a little bit more just to contend with the break but be a really disappointing one for her [Music] let deser an Applause from pretty treacherous location what’s up next bouncing up and rolling just past pin High that she goes as well look from above with temperatures and conditions like this should be no surprise that the course is in as Immaculate condition as it appears to be J young has early bit a foot wrong today speaking of hardly putting a foot wrong hardly a single fault whatsoever with that approach let’s take another look bit of a tricky one as well just up on the little mound in the Fairway and catching enough of the Fringe and an assist from the wind maybe even too much at the end as it blows away from the hole but nevertheless a really really well worked shot so no movement from ejim gu both still two back at four under par chasing down hungin and her six under 66 both with four holes remaining in their days Jing gang y minina also with four to play pyang and our featured in final group just in a bit of a cold stretch looking to get back to her birding ways at this 10th Ken 1991 ladies open for for for for for e for welcome back we’ll pick things up on 14 CH s can move within three of the leaders but she has enough pill pot to contend with right to the left the break line and the speed and a perfect recipe to move to the top five that is five birdies on the day if not for those Bogies at two and six she would be right there knocking at the door delighted as well I bring towards that top spot [Applause] long waited KY Youngy her first since hole number nine ends that stretch of four Pars in a row T4 four under and four to play nice bit of simmetry that isn’t it jimy g a snap of break but starting it too much to her inside of the hole we’ll have to settle for a part best play Happ hoping to continue some very positive play not her best decidedly uh the T skipping rolling and Landing well to the left of the Fairway Park young who’s just having a few or rather a small case of The Yips with the driver p [Music] confidently walking to reach her second ball despite a quieter second half of the round compared to where she was couple hours ago quarter 4 on a Friday in Kumi Jam G uses all of the available width up teering on being a near vertical drop past the hole it is a bit of a safety first approach for Joan for spe spe wow [Music] up young withing n iron From the Rough not quite the recovery shot she would have hoped for still very much in the thick of the chase though starting to see her remaining hole total dwindle we’re back with Jan who was in with the 68 mgu meanwhile on the front nine has birdied and is within one of H at the to Chang CH yina Hong all still out on course all within three and all pushing to climb into the top five live here on a Friday evening at the gulf Zone County sunon for for for for for for for 132 play in the field in the 10th anniversary edition of the K Chun 1991 ladies open with 800 million one up for grabs 144 million one of that will be set aside for our winner several winners in the fields on this 54 hole race for the to the week following the 46 kpga championship J Yuni has just not had the Mastery of the approach game or the putting game in this back nine the wind starting to pick up we can tell by the way the flag stick is pinned on a day where you can’t find much complaints if any with the weather 27° less than a meter pers second the wind and sunny skies pangy would probably feel a little gloomy if she was unable to convert on this par it is a tricky one from a tight distance downhill and it’s gone right away hear the collective gasp from the patrons around the green Le Jung mean fresh off of her win last week up 11 spots to lead the race to the weix championship Jung Yun G second pangy down Peri had been the leader heading into the major Pang pangin fourth and fifth respectively for well no such troubles for CH song on 14 that is birdie number six today as she will trade places with pangy e G drops back to three under three back their first bogey of the round [Music] Jing young backto back pars into the home stretch here they’ll be headed to 17 that group they will have a moment or two to wait Joan with a seven iron on 17 and she wants to stay close to the front she’s going to get a helpful little roll through The Fringe it’s a brilliant t-shot spe [Applause] [Music] J will avoid the rough find the Fairway with the driver give me at plus two on the day we be needing some more birdies to fend off the cut line which will appear tomorrow B June after two Bogies on the way out she has three now on the back nine in his underc [Applause] yeah also peing beneath the hill on The Fairway it’s a better drive for p young excuse me who has struggled at times with that club today [Music] close but nothing to show for it unfortunately for gang loses one hand on the club on the follow through but it doesn’t affect the Excellence of that approach shot for another and in fact and even more impressive up onto the green and the last on 16 you probably couldn’t put together a tighter grouping and what this group has done Chung Yin plays Bumper balls and each of the three will be in with a look at birdie and while we are going pin seeking aren’t we in the final half an hour or so of round one mman he’s at a couple astute approaches today you don’t get to be one of the best in the world without that area of your game being one of the best he so young it’s been a round of ups and downs currently finds herself plus one on number 18 and we’ll have a solid opportunity to get back to even mgu she is still within one though running out of time to make that last little search CH s and yina through 15 holes of their round as well within two page one of the leaderboard chaming gang through 16 at three under paky youngyang three under through 15 after the bogy at the last hongi w she’s still got a fair amount of golf to play five in fact holes remaining with three Strokes being what’s required she did everything right but the putter unfortunately for G remains ice cold speee for CJ young as this inches its way slowly down the hill had she found a way to solve that nearly impossible but she would have been into a time for the lead for well no troubles for CH S three in a row now six since whole number nine she really has turned her round around it’s been impressive golf and he’s so young for 72 to open the tournament looks great nice recovery on the final hole on a back nine that saw two Bogies she was even sandwiching birdies and Bogies in the front nine and the Opposites on the way in and mystified her caddy with his arms crossed about 12 yards away has no solutions for her at the minute and g a tip of the cap as she moves under par with her final swing of the day three birdies two Bogies such a delight to have her back in Korea this week for s on the second to last hole she will start with a six ey the pin seven yards off the front six yards from the right in that narrow stretch at the beginning of the green for nextt Sean also finding the green Chung Yun needs the putter to join the party for she shortens looks a bit dejected as she begins to walk down yeah slightly off of the Fairway on the final hole and a final charitable contribution contribution Zone excuse me easy for me to say as we get close to concluding this opening round hungu means lead has been and remains under threat EJ on 18 mgu on nine her final hole jaming Gung just a little bit cold at the end still in the hunt still within three we will see if anyone can eclipse or reach the sixer Mark held by hung you mean final 15 minutes or so when we return this opening round of the 10th Ken 1991 ladies open for for for for for for spe welcome back on the second to last hole pangang short of the green she chips up and will be facing a make stay within three staying within three also means staying in the top 10 on 18 Chan who is even today down time for 39th and H holding out from The Fringe a chip in to conclude the day 71 Strokes tied for 2 second with a really nice effort from off the green three Bogies on the way in Bogies excuse me three birdies on the way in Bogies at 1 and8 on the way out for Joan and CH s she has two holes left to try and reach out and grab the lead this is a really difficult putt downhill with break but it accelerates too much too soon second shot at 18 using the hybrid to Ping it back into the Fairway pyy she got up but a serpentine paed to the hole prevents her from PN she drops her second in the last three holes she had been faultless through 14 Chong Yun g off to the right ice cold everyone on 17 mg she is 203 M out she is one back her final hole and the second shot on the par five is a brave attempt to put it mildly result though is rather treacherous jaming young her Approach at 18 Will Roll to the left of the putting surface and stay on away from The Fringe AJ young 77 M out can she set up a putt that you can stand over and realistically believe the birdie will be on for spe s she is off the Fairway and is rather fortunate that she was able to avoid and roll beyond the tree AJ young this is her moment for Birdie on 18 and a share of the lead but it never wanted to break for her so she’ll settle for a 67 still a brilliant day in this opening round bogey free two on the front and three on the way in in her birdie col [Music] the Applause for Chong yinji she goes right down the middle and disappears behind the mound a good drive back to 18 jamen gang for birdie four under she goes her 68 68th and final swing and she salutes a really kind crowd for her bogy free as well Bird’s at 8 11 18 and one more in the middle p young she needs a note of positivity to end the day on she looks disappointed because she’s missed the Fairway once more she was one of the final hopes for a joint lead but unfortunately it does not come off for her starting to get a a clearer and clearer picture CH s having just teed off fun 18 gu on nine y minina there as well both one back on the front one back on
