hey folks and welcome to Greg’s golf Shack today I’ve got a tip for you and a really easy drill to help you make better contact right in the middle of the club face and also get rid of that early extension that so many of us have through impact now I’ve got all kinds of tips and fun Golf Stuff throughout my channel I appreciate it if you subscribe like the video leave me a comment I’m a certified golf instructor I want to help improve your golf game and have more fun on the course okay there’s a lot of information out there about you know the sway in the golf swing we see people move off the ball and move forward and it makes it difficult to get that contact position really in the place we’d like it to be and we also hear about early extension when people throw the club at the ball and stand up they throw their Trail hip forward and it causes a lot of toe hits or if we reach out too far heel hits but I’ve got another concept I want to share with you something we don’t hear enough of is lateral movement to and fro we hear about it back and forth but not in and out sometimes we’ll hear about the head dipping down and going up but not much of this but it’s actually quite common and think about it if we set up to a ball and we’re going to hit it in this position perhaps this is our impact position if our head is moving back and forth in the swing that makes it difficult to get get the club back to that middle of the face position and with early extension when we kind of cast the club down and stand up our head isn’t only coming up it’s also moving back so I’ve got a really easy we’ll call it a feeling that you can harness to help improve upon this and what I want you to feel is the Sensation that you’re resting your head against a wall and see you would be able to feel if you’re sliding up and down the wall or even moving in and out you’re going to hit your head feeling like our head is resting on that wall and we would like to rotate our body back and through with our head staying on that wall you can see not only does that prevent us from early extending and standing up it helps promote a nice turn around a central axis so we can return to that good impact position with the ball being right in the middle of the club face so you’re leaning on a wall and you’re keeping your head there all the way through the swing now of course as you get through impact and into the follow through you might start to stand up a little bit that’s okay but throughout our back swing our down swing our impact position and even post impact we’d like our head to remain on that wall so here’s a really easy drill that we can use to help Implement that feeling guess what it involves a wall so find a wall in your house that you can lean against in our setup position I recommend you using a towel or something so you don’t mark up the wall or hurt your head and I’m going to put it on the wall there and lean in to a setup position just like this and you can see my arms are hanging straight down like this and this helps us get that feeling of where our turn would like to be our arms and shoulders aren’t coming out too far my shoulder turning under my chin under my chin and the follow through my arms aren’t reaching out and hitting the wall this is really helping to facilitate a solid swing and you can see with my head against the wall it’s not moving in and out it’s not moving up or down it actually feels quite comfortable there if you feel too much weight on your head you probably need to stand a little closer we don’t want to be leaning on the wall we just want to be touching it that’s where we want our head and it feels really good to swing through that position I can really get the sensation of what it feels like to turn around this axis in my body without bobbing my head all over the place so once you’ve given that drill a try you’ve got the sensation of what it feels like to keep your head on that wall it helps us maintain our posture and also helps us get that club back to a good impact position where the ball can find the middle of the face when you’re ready set up to a ball and give it a try harness that feeling of your head on the wall and then swing folks I hope you enjoy that tip please like And subscribe we’ll see you next time on Greg’s golf Shack [Music]
