okay so swinging more there instead of that way and let the club come out on the way through hey golfers and welcome back to my YouTube channel in today’s video we’re taking a look at the really common issue of being over the top in the D swing PS slices maybe even some weak fads to the right so if you’re a golfer who wants to learn how to get down on the inside and learn what it takes to hit that proper draw and this video is going to be for you I got a really simple drill that’s going to take care of all of that and if you are a little bit on the extreme side of the slice I also have a little bit of a fix for that as well all right guys so before we get started with that if you’re new to the channel welcome if you haven’t done so already please don’t forget to hit the like button hit the Subscribe button and let’s get started okay guys this is the shot we’re trying to fix okay now that particular shot comes from the C family as a nice little fade a pull to the left and a big vicious slice okay so let’s dive in a little bit more into the numbers of what creates that golf shot we have these two things which one’s called club path one is called Fast to path okay so club path first basically what’s that measuring is what direction the club is traveling at impact okay so minus onrack band means left which we’ll typically know as over the top or right to in that’s the club moving in this direction through impact okay so we’ll put the stick on the ground as a reference for that that way okay and our Target would be straight down here so that’s the club moving this way across now if from that position I was able to get my club face so face to path the same as the direction the club is traveling that’s going to be the big pull one the one that feels really solid goes a good way sometimes maybe some of you aim left and you hit that shot and it stays there and you think why did it not slice back right I’ve seen it I’ve seen it all I’ve done it myself okay next one you could have the club face sitting somewhere between the Target and the path and make that feed back to the Target but it’s going to be quite weak a lot of spin on it it’s not really going to maximize your distance yes you can still play from there but not as efficient as we get inside which our drill is going to do massively reduce that path number okay so let’s say more extreme case and that was fairly extreme to be fair that was my club face pointing at the Target 11° open to my path I know this is tricky but it’s really important to kind of understand this because this is what makes your golf ball curve and if you can have a little bit of a an understanding you can also then fix what you’re seeing your golf ball do basically I left that even more open we now see this getting even bigger might not go that noticeable with a pitch and wedge or a nine iron but the bigger Clubs real disaster lots of slice to the right okay so as I said at the start of this video we’re going to change that club path with a really cool and simple drill and for the guys who just literally slice like crazy you’ll have to do one extra little bit alongside this first drill okay so let’s take a look at the drill and then we’ll get into the next bit after that okay and I know this can sound a little bit complicated when you’re dealing with numbers but I find from teaching and in my own game it’s really helpful to understand these things because if you see your ball doing something crazy you can start to think oh okay was that face or path or what I need to change okay CU internet is full of great tips but each one will be relative to you some people might have clicked off by now because they don’t swing over the top so if you’re stuck around this long thank you so for this drill we’re going to take the likes of a pitch and wedge okay it’s a little bit uncomfortable and awkward to begin with but what we’re going to do is take our normal setup just going of keep this glub in your hand at the moment your normal setup you’re then going to get your pitch and wedge and you’re going to put the toe of the club underneath the toe of your right foot okay now you can see that that shaft is pointing a little bit right of my target we don’t want it here we also don’t want it out there so I have that kind of equal distance to the amount of path that I want this club coming inside because from that 11 degree if I was swinging down and over the top this way I would hit that shaft okay we’re going to start really slow don’t damage your clubs don’t damage yourself clubs can always be replaced you’re a little hard to replace so don’t hurt yourself but start out slow shaft angled a little bit to the right of Target now what’s that doing for me well from here this over the top move is is this cutting across bang and the sheer thought of knowing that that’s there is going to help you avoid it so from the top of your swing you have to think okay how do I not hit that stick the club needs to be coming more from here strikes the ball through this way okay not in that way given us that big path number okay so we’ll start it out nice and slow hopefully the track man picks these up nice and slow just thinking okay missed the stick little uncomfortable after let the club fall out don’t have to swing and hold it there I do want you to transfer your weight and finish your go swing when you’re doing this so Club a little right of Target and that will be a hook which is my bad shot but look look at the path 7.7 from inside okay so it forced me into that position to get the path improved because I knew the stick was there and I didn’t want to hit it okay so same again setting up Club underneath the toe just a little bit right of Target that way okay so swinging more there instead of that way and let the club come out on the way through a little better okay so 4.3 path that’s kind of good like two to four iend tend tend to find works very very well and the club face there could be a little bit more closed to make that ball draw draw back perfectly but if you’re an over the top player or getting steep in the down swing in terms of the shaft going way out here over the plane and having to come back in really really super drill okay so I talked about the guys who maybe have that let’s call it that vicious slice that frustrating one I know because I teach every nearly every day and I see it all the time and it really really bugs people so let’s take a look at that and see what we need to do with this club face to straighten that out okay so when we do this drill and we change our path there can be a chance that the path changes but the face also goes with it okay so you think of the relationship that we created with the path and the face for the ball to curve to the right okay we have the the path traveling this way and the face open so if we were to change the path but don’t address the face we could end up moving these two angles together now we’re swinging inside but the ball is going so far to the right okay cuz we haven’t address this to get it to sit on this side of the club path for that nice draw okay so if you do the drill that we’ve done we’ve just talked about and you put the club underneath your right foot you set up just to the right of Target too much just to the right of Target there so you do this and you think okay brilliant swinging down inside I’m not hitting that the ball’s going miles to the right that’s because that face angle is going to be this way you fixed a lot of sticks here just noticed hope it’s not too complicated for you but we’ve fixed the path but the face is still very open okay we have to address that and the way that we’re going to do that is by when we go to the top swing down to miss our our club we’re going to feel the club face turn with our wrists our glove if you’re anything like me and you like to wear a good quality leather glove when you’re playing golf but don’t fancy the high price tag we’ll go and check out my channel sponsors page for premium leather gloves at a fraction of the cost use code David at checkout and you’ll save yourself a nice little bit of cash as well down to the ground so that we can attack more of inside with the face closing okay so we’re kind of doing that pre- swing we’re not doing it through the ball can be quite tricky to time so in the down swing we’re going to turn the lug with the glove down which is going to close our face and in through this way so me a notorious hooker of the ball if I do this and the trackman picks it up this could have quite a lot of hook on it okay yeah 6.5 inside 7 closed F okay that becomes very easy for me cuz that is my bad shot okay I fight very hard to be like I hit feeds all the time okay everyone always says I wish I had that problem well I wish I had it the other way as well so it’s just being careful with what you work on in your golf swing so if you aren over the top player hitting PS maybe don’t like the feed losing a little bit of distance and the Big Slice to the right well this drill and a little bit of understanding now with path and face relationship we should be able to straighten that out and get some nice powerful draws in there all right guys thanks so much for watching this video If you enjoyed the video please don’t forget to hit the like button hit the Subscribe button and I’ll see you guys in the next one
