the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans
four ball format equals low numbers on
the leaderboard three sets of Brothers
competing here this week two sets of
twins the boyards and the cies we’re
really glad to be here I don’t think
we’ve played any type of tournament
format where we’ve actually been like
true Partners this week we’re going to
be relying on each other a little bit
more so hopefully you know we’re still
friends and brothers after this you one
thing I’d have to think Shane low is
pretty excited when his phone rang and
Rory asked him to play in this I just go
where I’m told this week and I just do
what I’m told so I’m Rory’s the captain
team captain this is I don’t know my
17th year as a professional golfer and
to be able to still do things for the
first time like plan this event I just
thought it would be fun to do welcome to
PGA Tour the cut presented by Ser
[Music]
Pro so this is the first time you guys
are paired up in this event um can you
kind of tell me how this came about who
too yeah I guess I I sort of asked Chen
um we came home from Rome after a very
nice week at the Ryder Cup and we were
having lunch at my house um like the
weddingday after and I think I floated
the idea then we sort of solidified the
plan around Christmas time yeah he text
me Rory text me around Christmas time
and I was like yeah I mean I didn’t need
to didn’t need to say too much more but
yeah we talked about it that week after
home not sure whether we I thought it
was a drink talk or not but um we yeah
we decided we would and obviously um
yeah we’re we’re here now we’re looking
forward to it I think we will be good
together I think we feed off each other
well I think we’re good for each other
on and off the course I think we’re both
you know playing good golf at certain
times what a shot from
[Applause]
[Music]
maoy oh this looks tasty oh holds it
maybe what we need is somebody to back
us up at certain times of the week and
you know it’ll all work well you know
I’ll know when to leave him alone on the
course I’ll know when I can speak up and
um I think just sort of having that
understanding of your partner is a is a
good thing we’ll feed off each other you
know we we know each other very well we
played in so many different teams
together since we were teenagers so
we’ve got a good bit of shared history
together and we’ve had one ting together
as a team in the ryer cup at Whistling
Streets which but I I mean I’d like to
think think I playing much better now
than I was back then funny I would
probably say that you would be probably
the more serious out there and I’d be a
bit more I’m probably more intense like
yeah when it comes to playing
tournaments I don’t think people don’t
get that off me but yeah I get a little
bit more uptight probably than you do
and and yeah intens at things a little
different look for Shane Lowry today
going with the pink Rory was joking he
said he texted him early in the week he
said how many black shirts do I need to
bring so we can
match I don’t think this course lets you
be too aggressive I think you know it’s
a pretty conservative golf course you
just have to hit it in position off the
te I mean four ball is obviously a bit
friendlier where you have two balls in
play and you know you’ve got a chance
for your partner B out fors obviously
we’ve got one ball and it’s it’s a
pretty difficult format but you know we
played both formats a lot over the years
you know we we know what to do when
we’re out there we know when to be
aggressive we know when not to be
aggressive it’s just it’s just golf at
the end of the day and you know it’s
about going out there and allowing
yourself to play and hit the shots and
if we shoot low numbers or if we shoot
High numbers we’re out there giving our
best
in Ro or you going to Bourbon when you
win you got any advice for us I mean
you’re a fighter you’ve um you’ve gone
through a lot over the past few years
win the day that’s my uh
quote awesome this is Colin what up aw
nice to meet you good to meet you as
well how you doing good this is my this
is my partner Kurt nice to meet you nice
to meet
you you love go I play like putt putt
I’m pretty bad at P put I always get
holes in one maybe we’ll have to have a
match one day and you might be beating
me at
that you have a favorite number uh 444
444 because it means the angels are
watching over you and that was my number
in the hospital when I was seven no it
was eight
uh I got cancel bow Mail cancer cancel
and I was admitted to the hospital
hospital I got to go home after like a
few
months then about a year or two later it
was probably like a year and a half I
got cancel again this one was a lot
shorter though it was like it was like a
month or two so that was a lot better
and then I got to go home and see my
brother again and so far that’s where I
am everything’s been okay so far yes sir
good man you got any advice for us I
mean you’re a fighter you’ve um you’ve
gone through a lot over the past few
years win the day that’s my uh quote all
right we’re going to do that this week
win the day all right I’ll write I’m
going to write that in my yardage book
all right all right that’s a good thing
for me
MH
win the
day there you go right there I’m going
to look at that every day all right
cool all right let’s head over to the
other side of the green we got to go hit
my shot
fight that was good you like that one
yes sir I thought I hit it too far but
it worked out pretty good let’s see your
let’s see your putt putt skills you
ready yes sure all
right all right tap it in I’m going to
blame it on the putter it’s a little
long for you that’s like that’s when you
get in your you know your 20s and you
get
taller did you enjoy it yes sir all
right have fun out here I will thank you
win the day right yes sir win the day
all right see you L bye thank
you history in the making three pairs of
Brothers including two sets of twins are
in the field for the first time at the
Zurich Classic of New
Orleans the cooties the Hoards and the
fitzpatricks are among some of the
youngest in the field with an average
combined age of
25 I’m not going to play with anyone
else I’m always going to play with my
brother regardless of the state of his
his game or or my game please welcome
the team of Matt Fitzpatrick and Alex
Fitz
[Applause]
Patrick good shot bro it’s Patrick this
is
third
hello he says pick it up Baby
Bro Alex
Fitzpatrick oh gets that to drop for
Eagle that’s the way you take care of
your older brother we don’t see each
other a lot he’s currently living at my
house but he’s never really there um but
yeah I mean we’ll play together in the
summer and Switzerland the dun Hill
Wentworth um hopefully US Open but yeah
all that stuff too the issue is we’re
opposite people so he loves looking at
EXL spreadsheets and I like playing
video games so yeah there’s probably not
too much in common
the Family Ties of course they fit right
into this in the team
format we didn’t even ask each other it
just just kind of like implied I think
it would been a little disappointing if
we didn’t play together or be like oh
why aren’t you playing together but we
committed the tournament as teammates
and here we are please welcome the team
of Parker Cy and Pearson
[Applause]
Cy I have no IDE we’re the perfect team
but it’s I don’t know I think it’ll be a
fun week we obviously know each other
very well and at least I think we like
each other for the most
part the second set of identical twins
Europeans Nikolai and Rasmus hoard are
making their tournament
debut please welcome the team of Rasmus
poyar and Nikolai
poyar Nikolai hoard been mention in the
three sets of Brothers perfect angle
from the left side takes
advantage good job there three time DP
world tours twin brother Rasmus a four
time winner
there these two guys are young and
they’re both studs they really are the
tremendous amount of
talent teaming up for Zur I haven’t
played anything Team related in
two years now so um it’ll be fun we have
a similar personality very mellow guys
not a whole lot of emotion going on we
have different games but I think we can
kind of mesh together pretty good the
first time we met was cor finals we
played nine holes out there we had off
pretty good that first practice round
together and stayed in touch and then
moving 500 yards away from me made a
friendship pretty easy now we play our
course at home all the time so we’re at
Oak Tree first te Logan Kel
ecro that’s what’s kind of fun about
having friends out on the PJ tour and
traveling with guys and especially when
they’re at home too is you build a
relationship Chris I just did what you
did on the
last oh this is good TV right here we
play all the time at home in pretty even
dog fights when we’re
playing hate to see it
obviously we want to beat each other and
that’s just part of it but it’s kind of
a good push and that is official Austin
e has broken through at the cognizant
classic it was fun to kind of see it
from outside the rops a little bit well
not that much fun but um it was great
for him and his brother to come out and
watch it was just cool to have my friend
there with me it’s a good motivating
fact that to know that someone that I
play with all the time and is a winner
on tour
that I’m not that far away he’s been
through the rookie year and grinded it
out and stuff so now that he’s got like
second year and a win under his belt I’m
a year behind in that sense so hopefully
I can pick things up and learn from what
he’s doing we have that relationship and
especially whenever we’re teaming up
other in Zer like I’ll feel comfortable
I think we’re both pretty melad and you
know we’re not going to get on each
other too much hopefully uh it’ll be a
fun week
ni nice to meet you D how are you good
good to see you you remember me from
last year I do how you been good I love
the hat yeah I love that hat
Joel can’t survive myself are you a see
it’s great that we’re in team format
today cuz when he hits Us in the woods
you can hit down the middle for us well
throwing him right in the fire straight
Off the
Bench whoa I got under it
I got it K of corn it’s all good I’m n
got to hey it happens we just we we just
threw you right in the middle of
it this this is your whole Keith yeah
cool you still are you a senior in high
school yeah about to graduate nice we
know where we’re going yet uh not yet
need some
food thank
you I’m good I I’ve been eating all day
out here there’s more more to go so uh
right now I’m 2 years in remission oh
congratulations freshman year high
school I found a lump in my neck and so
I wanted to get it checked out turns out
it was a berquet lymphoma okay wow and
your two years removed good for you
that’s awesome unfortunately we’re part
of a fraternity that isn’t as fun as
other fraternity to be a part of yeah
but that’s awesome you’re on the good
side of it how often you get to play
golf uh try it every week nice lately
with the school pretty much almost every
day nice so you’re played on the high
school team yeah I suck at tournament
play uh tourament golf I think a lot of
times you have to rely on the practice
that you’ve done prior and just settling
the heart rate down so you control your
breathing so it’s like you walk slower
you try to think slower how far we got
112 112 whole what club are you hitting
from here probably about approaching
woodge or pitching wedge that’s exactly
yeah I with into the wind a little
bit
go
go good ball nice we’re going to have to
make a putt okay perfect you’re going a
putt you want to make a birdie putt yeah
good number there Nick it was a good
number I we had to he said approach
which I just that was same as my Gap
ledge there maybe you got a feature in
the cading business maybe go break
Gino’s leg in the parking lot and carry
that heavy thing around what’s the read
Nick little right to left little right
to
[Music]
left yes
sir member of the team love that one
nice work dude great PT count it up I
keep this ball of course absolutely I’d
lend you this putter but I got to I got
to see if it works for me I think you
just put some good Juju on
it I don’t ask too much can you sign the
head to I of course I can absolutely
love to love that you’re rocking it I’m
very grateful this for this opportunity
I look up the Joel you know cancer
survivor and I’m also a cancer survivor
and he sign the ball in the head and I’m
a frame it in my house Nick you look
like a good viser guy too maybe we get
you on we could rocking with a vis for
you maybe a buck thank you thanks for
coming out it was a great meeting you
bud good meeting you absolutely good Mee
yeah take care best luck in the future
yeah you too keep playing golf yeah it’s
a plan we’ll see you late Sunday for the
victory party how’s that yeah that
sounds awesome cheers
we are back on the Bayou and it’s the
only team event on the PGA tour schedule
and the format is back to alternate
shot Ry and trainer what a day they had
tying the alternate shot record with a
63
25 under bar it’s pretty amazing we
almost did better in this format than in
the uh bestas ball day where you should
shoot a little lower there’s all the
Crowds Are All funneling in to see if
Rory and Lowry can provide some
drama Che what a
shot that Irish flag blowing in the win
is this Irish team for
birdie
yes maroy and Lowry against Ry and
trainer and the first playoff hole will
be alternate shot on the par five
18th it’s the kind of putt you would
want to win a tournament this is when
you dig
[Music]
deep oh
wow trainer a chance to extend the
[Music]
playoff missed it
and it’s an Irish party in New
Orleans mroy and Lowry win the Zurich
Classic with the win and 400 fatex Cup
points Shane Lowry edges closer to
moving inside the concast business tour
top 10 balting to 12
place we both felt like we needed to
come in here and maybe have a very
strong week it’s great to get win it was
great fun all week you know everything
about it uh uh was just brilliant and
I’ve enjoyed every minute of it like
having this man by my size it was
amazing like we we went out there we had
a lot of fun and we won the tournament
you couldn’t ask for about a
week to win any PGA Tour event is very
cool but to do it with one of your
closest friends and we’ve known each
other for a long long time so to think
about where we where we met where we’ve
come from to be on this stage and do
this
together really really cool Journey that
that we’ve been a part of and um yeah
just awesome to be able to do it
alongside
this rapid recovery presented by Surf
Pro the number one choice in cleanup and
restoration I don’t think this whp is
going to be much of a problem but he’s
definitely aware of it he doesn’t like
it probably coming up well to the right
that was darn near a
shank now Rory found the bunker that
very few people on this hole do that was
a pretty good
shot can they Salvage a par and get to
the sixth
unscathed no bo there you go no Bogies
so meloy and Lowry remain at minus
4 one thing we can all expect to see
this week at the Zerg classic as a gator
or
two on this 20th Zerg classic we will
take aim at our Zerg gator mouth from
different locations around the green
with our wedge this is what a Gator’s
mouth actually looks like just to let
you know that’s pretty good yeah each
round the player who is the furthest
away from the gator will be eliminated
leaving just one standing at the end if
I miss this I could be out
immediately but if you make you’ll be a
[Music]
legend no oh so hard we can go on to the
next station we all know what we’re
going to
do that felt so good off the face too oh
that’s it that
counts Billy you might away what Billy
it’s just like golf if it bounces in the
hole and it got it comes out that happy
Gore crap right here that went in
obviously it did not I see your ball
right
here that was nice
oh all right that’s very safe that was
nice well I’m close in a he so we might
need to measure that no are we measuring
no
okay that that was nice how did yours
bounce out what did yours in advance he
just is more talented than I am on to
the next kids I’m close a he that’s a
fact
bounce nice that nice Billy it’s a
professional play right there no I was
trying to make it honestly I was
honestly trying to make it oh no I that
I had the look
[Music]
pretty oh
oh that’s still a good shot though what
G prob land chunk Runner just chunk it
on now get
greedy oh oh no she passed Collins think
yeah Clos yeah I saw it you pass Collins
all right Billy you and me
bud oh might have just done it first try
he did he did what a
nice nice Billy thank
you oh looks that was close nice
Billy wait thank you that was that was
that was well done thank you very much I
appreciate it let the old guide wins
very nice of you guys yeah yeah yeah I
won the gator should have won this
challenge I mean it’s only
right this is only one of two current
PGA T events named after a for for
player the CJ cup Byron Nelson at TPC
Craig Ranch my first PJ tourament as
amateur was here this tournament means a
lot to me back-to-back winner of CJ cup
Byron Nelson 2021 and 20122 a lot of
good memory here Jason day won last
year’s CJ cup Byron Nelson she’ll defend
to go through what I went through and
then to be able to be in the winter
circle is very pleasing
