Tiger details story behind Sunday Red, PGA Championship preparation | Golf Today | Golf Channel
https://www.youtube.com/golfchannel?sub_confirmation=1

the big cat omnipresent the last couple
of days yeah we were joking before the
show when’s the last time that Tiger
Woods did a media tour hello world yeah
I mean essentially more than 25 years
ago I will say it it was great to see
him moving around he said he was
extremely sore after at the last place
finish at the Masters but he certainly
seemed to be in good spirits as he was
Hawking some product and now he can go
back to the cold plunge go back to his
PJ Championship prep but it was good to
see him up no doubt today is the
official day the launch day of Sunday
red Tiger’s collaboration with Taylor
Made earlier today Tiger Woods made a
stop on the Today’s Show you had said at
the beginning of the year the idea was
to play kind of a tournament a month
that I think hoping to yeah I don’t know
if is that timeline still doesn’t seem
like quite working out I youj I have
basically the next three months so I
have three majors and hopefully you know
that all kind of work out how do you
feel physically how do you feel after
Augusta I was sore what do you do coal
punch stretch all of Co punch every day
all of it every day religiously for for
those who are watching the Today show um
I want you to we have Sunday red your
clothing line it’s um we all know you
were red on Sundays and you you crush
the competition that can people can wear
this stuff and feel like they’re tapping
into your energy of a Sunday red but
tell people why you wear red because
this is a win for moms everywhere and
there’s a lot of moms watching I wear
red um my mom thought that being born a
Capricorn that red was my power color
and so and some of the Junior junior
golf events uh in SoCal I would wear red
and I won okay so uh in spite I wore
blue uh and other ter just to spite in
spite I didn’t win and so I then
switched to red and I had a lot more
success wearing red so uh I then saved
it for uh okay Mom I’ll make you a deal
with you that I’ll only wear I’ll wear
red on big events right on the last
round of big events cuz I can’t wear it
every single day at you know Southern C
J your golf they’re playing every day
all time so I can’t do it I wear it on
the last day of big events she said fine
just just wear the last day and I did
and I’m wearing it I love that I don’t
think a lot of people know why you wear
red but there’s a nice little tie to Mom
yeah my mommy Sunday red I mean so tell
everybody about the logo CU okay the
logo is a Tiger It’s a simple thing it’s
nice and clean but it there’s some kind
of there’s some representation of of
what I have done in my career if you
look at the stripes there’s 15 stripes
and you alluded to earlier I’ve won 15
major championships so what happens if
you win up a hall in two weeks that’s my
my my goal is to ruin the logo yeah you
want you want keep I want to keep ruin
dinosaur the trademark is here is this
and I my job is to ruin
it Tiger Woods Capricorn Billy Ray
Valentine Capricorn LeBron James as well
how about tiger in the Carson kind of
picked up on the once a month comment
that he made back in December uh that he
would potentially best case scenario
play once a month we haven’t seen it
what are his prospects for the rest of
2024 yeah that’s kind of where my my my
mind went on this one well as well just
kind of sifting through uh sort of the
the product Hawking there and he
mentioned that the once a month Cadence
which has already been derailed yes of
course with March he did not play either
Arnold Palmer Invitational or the
PLAYERS Championship just said his body
and his game was not quite ready I guess
if you’re optimistic he said he’s still
on track for the remaining three major
championships this year he has such an
interesting challenge though Damon where
it’s not just just trying to get his
game up to where he can compete with a
Scotty sheffler or Roy mroy he’s got to
get his body the starting line as well
he’s got 13 days to do that yeah to me
it’s the it’s those twin things that
he’s battling it’s the the best players
in the modern game it’s Scotty sheffler
who appears to be a dominant perhaps
long-term dominant number one player in
the world it’s it’s youngsters like s
thala you know coming out of the
woodwork more and more comfortable on
big stages on on Sundays on the PJ tour
and at major championships as well it’s
l oberg it’s these players that are are
half his age and even less than that in
some cases and not only can he compete
you can he walk and be healthy for 72
holes on these difficult meaty golf
courses around the world it’s the
foundational aspect of competitive golf
of just walking 72 holes which is still
so difficult for him I was struck by
somebody that he said that Augusta
National a reporter asked him during his
Tuesday press conference like you know
why why you still doing this essentially
he said I can I still think I can win
until Tiger Woods get to the point and
we do have a large enough sample size
now to know that it is going to be very
hard to do this Hogan s schedule and
still compete against the world’s best
players but until he gets to that point
where he’s showing up in 45th is the
best he thinks he can do he’s he’s going
to continue to try that stubbornness of
course has made him a 15 time major
champ right
