stool Sports presented by our friends at
Chevrolet it’s the Danny and Trent Show
Ladies and Gentlemen people didn’t see
this one coming that’s what I was going
to say I think of all of all of the
combos this is probably the one that
people saw least coming but I’m I’m
quite excited to talk to you today you
know those those other two they make a
lot of noise talk a lot about hockey and
stuff I know we’re going to you know
we’re the golf boys you know you and me
like that’s what we do that’s exactly
right Alex and I were talking on the
elevator on our way to the office this
is like in a sitcom when two characters
that you don’t expect to hang out hang
out I said it’s like uh there’s an
episode of Seinfeld where George and
Elaine hang out without Jerry and they
have nothing to talk about that’s not
going to be us today we got a lot to
talk about but it is one of those things
it’s a combo nobody saw coming but the
thing is also we’re friends we talk like
we’re you know I send you a lot of text
messages you send not quite as many uh
in response uh and it’s you know it’s a
great it’s a great relationship I mean
to be fair some of the texts that I sent
you are not really respond they’re just
kind of like haha you know like it’s not
as much of a two-way conversation but um
no it’s it’s good you know that’s we’ve
been I feel like we’ve been kind of
switching it up on people I don’t know
the last time that all four of us I mean
Bush and you know what Bush feel free to
to feel free to hit the unmute button a
few times today we’re going to let you
talk a little bit what was the last time
all four of us were on a podcast because
you guys were in Jupiter Master’s recap
Master’s recap would have been the last
one okay so yeah amazing we we’re a
full-time we have this big podcast brand
and we can’t get all four of us to do it
at the same time so people know um Riggs
and Frankie are in Chicago filming some
sort of hockey commercial I don’t know
how much we can talk about it and to be
fair don’t know much about it to talk
about so there I know Frankie took a 7:
a.m. out of New York this morning he’s
flying back to New York tonight it’s a
very quick turnaround but that’s the
reason why they are not here so yeah you
got the Danny and Trent show I think
it’s going to be great I think a lot of
us have have started doing I know that
like the producers have started doing
the day trips for like when we shoot a
side gig or something and it’s a site
when you tell people in your normal life
that you’re going somewhere for the day
they look at you like you’re an absolute
mean like I you know I’m like oh I’m
going to Scottdale for the day they’re
like what I think the guys came to Miami
when we shot the side gig with nean for
the day from New York and it sounds
insane and it sounds crazy but when you
travel when you take you know 100
flights a year it kind of makes sense
yeah it does seem like I mean we do
travel so much and you guys have real
lives you have a wife Frankie has a wife
like we are gone a lot I know that can
cause a little bit of tension within the
household so it’s probably best if you
can just go somewhere and turn right
back around if you can do it that’s the
way to do it but it is like most people
when they travel they’re like oh stay in
the in Chicago get a nice dinner enjoy
the city our guys are like I’m I’m
barely going to be in that City and I’m
coming home yeah espe I think they came
to Vegas for the day so um it was pretty

drive all right we can uh we can start
with the golf conversation
Rory mooy and Shane Lowry you know the
rich kit richer [ __ ] move by them
shown up to this tournament I’m joking
obviously but only kind of sort of uh it
was it was a it was a fascinating
Dynamic on Sunday because you had Rory
and Lowry both major Champions with you
know tens of millions of dollars in the
bank and then you had the rest of the
the leaderboard was I mean the guys they
played in the playoff was Martin trainer
and Chad Ry um who have both I believe
won in the past but they needed wins
badly to keep their car to keep their
career you had mark cover and Ryan brem
um and you had Nico our guy niik edia
and Max graser and then you had Rory and
and Shane ly and they just won the
tournament and it felt like stealing
candy from a baby a little bit I’m sure
the event is happy that Rory and Shane
were there and that they won it cuz
their Clips were going crazy they’re
great winners they’re obviously like
pretty close to best friends it seems
like but you do look at the rest of that
leaderboard and think of all the people
who needed this win it wasn’t these two
these two didn’t need I didn’t realize
they both got one $ 1.2 million each 1.2
million each and they both got 400 FedEx
cut points and Rory and and Shane Lowry
said in the uh interview afterwards he
was like we both said to each other
let’s go get 400 FedEx cut points
because they had to you know find some
motivation because they’re so rich in
this tournament is you know it’s a team
event and they got the 400 and they and
they left like Bandits and then they
sang karaoke afterwards I saw Rory going
full pipes on Journey Don’t Stop
Believing which was an incredible clip
Rory can sing you know some people just
kind of have it was a little hard in
that clip to tell what was Rory I think
there was like a singer off screen like
a guy like you know they clearly had a
band perform or whatever also Shane
Lowry apparently just never heard that
song before did you see him just
standing there the whole time that’s the
most known song in the history of known
songs like if you don’t know that song
what songs do you know yeah so that was
that was Rory’s 25th win uh on the PGA
tour which is a big number saw brandle
yep go ahead well I’m sure I don’t know
what brandle said but it seems a little
strange for a team event to count as a
win towards your singular PJ tour career
I don’t know what you do with it I don’t
know what bucket you put it in but it
doesn’t seem like this one should be the
full 25 because it is a big number
you’re passing some greats it’s clearly
a milestone but should it count for
Rory’s complete total on the PJ tour my
my vote would say no I don’t know if you
guys also just saw but I just gave my
wife a stiff arm I don’t know did you
see that Alex Bush did you see the
lighting change did not she she opened
the door I think she’s like going to
work for the week I was like get the
[ __ ] out of here R and Frank are here we
got to take care of this yeah we’re this
is a big boy show so it’s funny that you
mention that because what brandle about
the team stuff what brandle was talking
about so Sam Sneed has quote unquote 82
wins which if people aren’t familiar
with this is you know the biggest farce
of a record of all time my my uh buddy
at my old uh swamping ground’s Golf
Digest which we can say you know that
rigs is not here without him talking
about the Golf Digest open yep um had so
he did like a a breakdown of Sam sneed’s
wins and it’s not just that he was
playing against [ __ ] mechanics and
accountants I don’t know if that’s
actually true but that’s what they say
in the NBA he’s playing against doctors
or whatever yeah but he’s got five wins
of the 82 were team wins Tiger Woods an
upstanding gentleman has zero team wins
in his 82 so I think what we just did is
convince everybody that tiger really
already has the record dude of course he
does also I think if you go back and
look through that and I’m glad this guy
went through and audited it because
we’ve talked about that on the show
before the the fields there were eight
guys in the field it’s not full field
events no and like there was a lot of
match play going on like 16 guy match
play tournaments so I don’t know who’s
say I don’t know what kind of dirt Sam
Sneed has on the on the past
commissioners of the PGA Tour you know
to get that 82 across the line but that
82 number is is Big Time in quotation I
legit think if you went through and
actually counted the Sams need ones he’s
got like 35 victories maybe yeah some
other guys who were in the mix Eric
higgo and Ryan fox Sam Stevens and Paul
Barone Barone I hope I’m getting that
right so it was a true David vers vers
Goliath situation you kind of knew when
uh trainer and Ry had to go against
those guys in the playoff that it
probably wasn’t going to go well I will
say that Martin trainer and Chad Ry shot
63 in alternate shot yesterday which is
[ __ ] incredible whoa an alternate
shot that is really really really hard
to do it’s hard to get a rhythm hard to
play well fire of 63 that’s pretty damn
good yeah pretty damn good so they did
that to get you know they posted the
number first and waited to see if guys
would come back and and catch them and
they did um I don’t know if we have
talked since uh PJ tour players found
out about the the guaranteed money that
they’re getting okay um so we mentioned
it we mentioned right at the end like
rigs got an alert on his phone in the
last episode where it came across his
desk something about equity and
guaranteed money do we have more
specifics on it we do we have all the
specifics I’ve I’ve rece I’ve received
the documents fantastic basically you
know it’s an interesting one because
what they’re basically doing is paying
guys for their loyalty right but they
can’t say that that’s what they’re doing
um but they so they so they get these uh
Equity grants in this new four profit
business called PJ tour Enterprises
which has been sort of spun off from the
PGA Tour and but they don’t really get
their money so 50% of the money they get
in four four years which is vest and all
the VC guys who listen to are or all the
people who work at startups are like
nodding their head being like oh this is
yeah now they’re they’re learning how
vesting Works yep so four years you get
half of it the another 25% two years
after that so six years you’ll have 75%
of your money and then after eight years
you get all the remaining 25% so this
$100 million number that’s out there
with Tiger Woods it’s not a lump sum
payment it’s not like a $100 million got
deposited into his account last
Wednesday or whatever it was and the
reason they’ve done this is is a few
things number one they don’t have to
give away the money right away so they
can grow the you know and they want to
grow this so 100 million in theory could
grow to be0 million or 300 million it’s
more about giving these guys a piece of
the pie and making them feel like owner
like part owners of the business but the
the money you know I was I was looking
up what the live guys got I mean TL
Hatton who was number 16 in the world
when he went he got 60 million and that
does invest after four years I mean I’m
sure it was like a three-year contract
but that’s money that he’s going to get
and there’s so the so the money it’s
still not Apples to Apples when you’re
looking at money and like a guy like
Jordan spe getting $30 million I mean he
would have gotten 10 times that if he
went to live oh absolutely and who
qualifies for the equity like how far
does it go down obviously the the woods
and the rares and the SPs and the
Scotties that makes sense but how far
does it fall
193 is the total number of people who
are getting um paid so there’s four
different
classifications that that people so so
so the first classification sort of tier
one is $750 million for 36 players so
that’s the majority of this 930 million
that they set aside right so those guys
I don’t know what the the average is of
that you know 750 million 36 players
like 20 something million per player on
average for the top 36 guys and that’s
you know all the PIP guys I would guess
that like a rck fers in that group 20.8
thank you for the math there then
there’s tier two which is guys who have
been really good the last three years
tier three kind of for the more Rank and
file guys and then there’s 75 million
that’s set aside for guys who help build
the PGA the modern PGA Tour maybe aren’t
playing as well right now so a guy like
Jim fur I mean I think Jack nichas was
on the list and Tom Watson so it’s like
some of these legends from the past but
it’s an interesting dynamic because if
I’m ludvig oer right and I I’ve I’ve
only been playing on tour for like 10
months and they do have some money set
aside for these for new players to get
Equity but like it’s how do you say that
this is not a loyalty payment when
Jordan spe is going to get way more
money than ludvig LV is a far superior
player right now and and projects as a
far superior player for the next 10
years so this is just one of those
things that where they talked about it’s
like it’s just super [ __ ] messy when
you try to pay all of these guys right
where you draw the line between what
they deserve for what they’ve done in
the past how much do we pay them for the
future there’s just no good way to do
this yeah I guess I mean the argument
for spe is that he is he helps build the
game in a way that Oar just hasn’t like
I I think that’s how you pay it out is
it’s what is your effect and how much
what have you what effect have you had
on like the popularity of the game like
I think Oar would agree that Jordan spe
has made the game more popular than he
has like I that’s where you kind of got
to draw the line I would guess yeah but
it’s it’s an inexact science right
because it’s like forever it’s been you
know and I kind of wish that the tour
just instead of like but but they can’t
because of the guys in the past but
instead of just putting all this money
aside for these like hardto measure
metrics like how much like just make it
all based on the golf like make all this
additional money just make it based on
the golf make the FedEx cup instead of
winning it you get 25 20 million make it
50 million you know what I mean and then
you because now it’s like the that that
narrative advantage that the PGA Tour
had of like we pay our players who are
the best players because they’re great
at golf it’s gone they’ve now they’ve
now gone into this business of trying to
and I know that it’s more objective and
they have points and this that and the
other but they’re assigning value to
things that are hard to Define and hard
to be tangible like attention that
they’ve BR that they’ve brought with
this player IMPACT Program imagine if
just they had all this money but the
difference was instead of you winning
for you know being popular you win it
for winning golf tournaments and but but
you can still win this much money but
you want the popular guys to be happy is
the thing there’s no that and that’s
something like I I was asked this
weekend about you know do you think that
overall Liv has been good for golf and
what I said was it’s been very very good
for golfers yeah like the golfers
themselves are making a lot more money
and but but that’s the problem when
you’re trying to serve two different you
know Masters you’re trying to make the
players happy and you’re trying to that
and it’s been skewed it it before it was
you know maybe the players were getting
a bit of a raw deal now the players are
getting a super sweet deal and and the
the balance between how what is what
what about this is good for the players
and what about this is good for the fans
has swung I think to the players yeah I
think you’re probably right but I do
think like I I always just view it
through an entertainment product and
it’s definitely more than that it’s you
know who’s playing the best golf that’s
who gets points that’s how you get your
card that’s how you get into the big
tournaments all that stuff but there is
a big part of it and I think this is
kind of what they decided that
entertainment and eyeballs you need
those more so than you need like to
reward people who are playing well and I
and I actually agree with that but what
other sport pays people the actual sport
not not the Endor contracts right yeah
you get paid based on how good you are
pretty I mean I guess maybe not if it’s
like European soccer and you’re one of I
guess like a Saudi league and they’ll
buy splashy names but like in the NFL
you know you’re not getting paid a
quarterback’s not getting paid more
because he’s got more social media
followers he can monetize that other
ways it’s now now when the league itself
gets into that business I think is when
it gets a little hairy it does but with
those other sports certainly with
football certainly with basketball
baseball to a c certain degree still the
popularity is baked in where with golf
it does feel like we’re still trying to
get this thing mainstream it’s
mainstream but it’s not like the other
sports where they do get paid based on
performance because that’s the way they
can do it golf feels very different in
that it wants eyeballs it needs eyeballs
people are less interested in the X’s
and O’s and the what did what did this
guy shoot they’re just like oh this
golfer is playing so I’m going to pay
like if Jordan Speed is playing if he’s
on the top of the leaderboard near it
you’re going to get way more eyeballs
than ex player who might have been
playing better the last month or so
right it’s like the people are going to
watch the Patriots because they love the
Patriots it’s not like that important
who’s necessarily playing for them as
much for whatever reason the football
and basketball and and baseball these
these sports that we’ve all watched
growing up are just a part of the fabric
of society and people are going to watch
them regardless they’re going to watch
well a lot of it is probably team based
like you’re saying they’re going to
watch the Patriots they’re going to
watch the Red Sox they’re going to watch
the Yankees and it doesn’t it’s you’re
rooting for laundry like Seinfeld says
it doesn’t matter who’s there but if the
Red Sox were playing you’re probably
going to tune in golf has the exact
opposite model so I don’t mind them
paying for eyeballs yeah yeah no it’s uh
it was a good thing then that Rory and
uh and Shane were there because you know
the rest the rest of the leaderboard on
in in New in New Orleans was was a bunch
of guys that a lot of people didn’t
[Music]
know I got the game time Time app open
right here Trent I don’t know if you’re
thinking about going to a Yankees game
but if you wanted to go to a Yankees
game this Friday against Detroit Tigers
it’s a major league baseball game $21
you want to go to Mets maybe you’re more
of a Mets guy this might be a bit of an
indictment of the Mets
$2 that’s I’ll go one
$25 if you want to watch the Cubs play
the Mets on Wednesday and Thursday it’s
one it’s $1 you can go you can do it for
$1 it’s perfect for a guy like me
because I’m not a New Yorker I’m just

guaranteed um it was it Rory said that
he went down to Bourbon Street just to
or he said he was going to go just to
kind of say that he had been there
because I guess he had never been down
to New Orleans before really yeah you
got he never played that tournament
before he’s been asked a million times I
mean obviously like he’s probably
getting he’s like the hot girl in high
school you know you got seven different
people asking him to go to prom it was
good to see Rory happy he was really
happy Shane makes him happy playing
Welles himy winning clearly makes him
happy I think Rory’s kind of had a a
weird couple of months certainly a weird
couple of years so just to see him like
win a golf tournament with his friend
and have a good time that overall is
good for the game of golf yeah nice to
see him playing well it was interesting
you know because there’s there’s rumors
or reports that he’s going back on the
board uh the PJ tour policy board and
they asked him about this and he’s like
you know I I don’t want to do it but if
everyone else wants me to do it then
then maybe I could be convinced to do it
which is which is kind of a classic good
guy move you know like oh yeah it’s not
for me it’s for everybody else I was
stunned when he decided to do that but
it’s more Rory I think is better I know
he’s become weirdly pretty polarizing in
the game of golf and yeah I think he’s
generally a net positive I I get that
people are like the Liv and the PGA and
that gets politicized and it gets weird
but overall still and I’ve always been
on that where Rory mroy is a net
positive for the game of golf full stop
and I think the people who you know the
sort of live supporters or whatever he’s
like almost on your side now the sense
of he is very publicly saying
reunification reunification make a deal
make a deal like he is of the top
players probably the most vocal about we
have to make a deal whereas you got guys
like Jordan Speed who are like you know
I don’t know if we need it Billy hell
said on this podcast and I didn’t have
time to respond because the PJ tour
woman was texting me that we had to be
done but he said that uh that they uh
they you know
they can have two tours and competitions
on a b Sergio Garcia said this to and I
said I don’t think that that’s correct I
don’t think that I don’t think that
either it’s wrong yeah it’s just wrong
so I I I appreciate that Rory is you
know it when you’re when you’re that
public and and you’ve spoken at a
microphone every week for the last two
years saying one thing it takes some
humility to be like I’m gonna say
something different now because you know
that all you’re going to do is eat crap
the whole time but you have to change
your mind on you know we want people to
change their minds that’s like like but
it’s become a negative thing in social
media because every thought is
documented nobody changes their mind
nobody anymore in any Arena if you
change your mind you’re a flip-flopper
and you now your word means nothing it’s
yeah it’s but he has it’s become like a
sign of weakness in a weird way in the
social media age you know and it’s like
let’s do our once every six week update
on is a deal going to happen soon or not
have you heard anything uh no I mean
I’ve I’ve I’ve heard that they continue
to talk but there was a report that came
out this week that the three the PGA
Tour the Liv and the European tour have
not even sat they’ve not even all met
together to discuss this so I I don’t
know sometimes I hear like it’s going to
happen soon sometimes I hear like the
doj will never let it happen I don’t
think that I don’t think it’s we’re
really that much closer to all that we
were you know almost 11 months ago and
that’s one of the things that Rory said
was like I thought that they were going
to make progress and they haven’t made
any what happened to the the secret
meeting between yaser and tiger and the
Bahamas did nothing happen there so they
met tiger was asked about it at the
Masters and the question was do you feel
like you’re closer to a deal and he said
I don’t know if I would say closer to a
deal but we’re moving in the right
direction so I don’t know what that
means that that is that is gobbly that’s
nothing that is that’s word salad that’s
like you know you never really had a
corporate job but that was like you know
that’s corporate speak I had a little
bit corporate job we’re moving we’re
moving in the right direction you know
we’re we’re trying to make it happen you
know we’re going to circle back on it we
put a pen in it we’re going to we’re
going to come back to it a couple weeks
ping me then and we’ll figure it out
sort of more of a Q3 thing I think for
us at this point you know what I mean
speaking of live golf Liv golf had a
great weekend in Australia yeah they
always do uh in Australia they’ve been
there twice now maybe three times maybe
twice yeah um that’s kind of that’s kind
of their their jam right like Australia
is a very proud Golf Country uh with a
very rich history Greg Norman Peter
Thompson you know Adam Scott Jason day
Cameron Smith uh and the Australian Open
back in the 70s and the 80s and before
that was one of the biggest golf
tournaments in the world and but it’s in
December historically and that didn’t
align with the PGA Tour schedule so it
just the top players stopped going over
there and it used to have one of the
bigger purses but basically you know the
Australian Open has has diminished in in
importance Tiger Tiger won it a few
times he went down there and played and
so they they are very hungry for golf
down there and uh the golf course looks
sweet and Greg Norman is Australian and
Cameron Smith is Australian and that’s
their jam and so I was watching did you
watch any of it no I just saw the videos
of the crowd which were incredible the
crowd was incredible so they had their
you know their watering hole which is
kind of their version of 17 or 16 rather
at TBC s um God damn TBC Scottdale
Scottsdale Scottsdale everywhere Scott
we’re always in Scottsdale right I’ve
never forgot that when you say that when
you said that you were like whenever I’m
in Arizona I’m just [ __ ] in Scottdale
100% the whole state is Scottdale um so
yeah they they had their vers The
Watering Hole was really cool uh the the
crowds were were pretty impressive I
think there was like 95,000 for 3 days
which still you know compared to waste
management which is kind of the
comparison that people are making is not
nearly as many people but I was watching
it on Saturday night and I was I was
decently stoned and I was saying to
myself this is like this is the vision
like I’m not saying that it’s that it’s
good or bad but like you’ve got all
these guys wearing these crazy out on
these teams like you should look at the
outfits that Kevin Na team wears the
iron heads they wear these they wear
these like vertical Pinstripes and
they’re insane they look crazy out there
everyone’s wearing shorts cam Smith is
on the tea and they’re they’re playing
that fisher song um t uh SL undress you
know what I’m talking about uh Bush yeah
I know exactly what song about take slow
steady undress while he’s over the shot
and they’re like Ripper GC and the
crowd’s going wild and I’m just like
this is this is what they thought about
two years years ago this was this was a
Mackenzie boardroom where they’re like
we’re going to have guys in Wild outfits
and they’re going to be wearing shorts
there going to be music pumping and
we’re and they’re going to be talking
about Ripper GC and this is it it’s come
to life I I think partially that’s right
I think probably what Liv has done the
most in terms of like what effect have
they had on the PJ tour or in golf it’s
like International is important like
they go to these places that are hungry
for a golf event Australia is clearly
one of them I I think them picking spots
where the PJ tour isn’t going or hasn’t
gone that to me is probably the main
takeaway for live now is every event
going to be like Australia where there
like you’re saying there’s music they’re
in shorts people are going crazy
probably not but you can draw crowds in
places where the PJ tour doesn’t go just
by the nature of people wanting to see
golf yeah 100% 100% And and it’s you
know that’s kind of the uh if we want to
get really philosophical about it that’s
I think a lot of the of the um kind of
first instinct of people and I think a
lot of this is true of American golfers
is like the PJ tour is is an American
institution and all the tourn every uh
elevated event signature event the last
two years has been in the United States
there hasn’t been a single one that’s
outside the United States and you know
at some point if other places have more
money or they people who have more money
and they want to put things other places
you know that’s a conversation that is
uncomfortable to have right it’s like
why why should this all be in the United
States and I I don’t remember who I was
was someone at the Masters some like big
banking guy that I was talking to under
the tree you know kind of rubbing
shoulders that’s everybody he was that’s
everybody and he was saying you know the
conversations that we’re having right
now about oh what’s going to happen when
the Saudis try to buy a football team or
what’s going to happen if they try to
buy this sport those are kind of the
same
conversations that British High Society
had about America a couple hundred years
ago of like are we really going to let
these like upstart Americans buy
Liverpool and buy Arsenal and then they
did and and the world goes on and it
almost feels like that’s kind of a
little a little bit of the undertones of
like if is all of this is going to go
International and you can say on a piece
of paper that it makes sense but I think
there’s a lot of people who that that’s
going to elicit emotion in them if that
if if this leaves the United States you
know it can but it can be both can’t it
yes it should be we’re not that’s what
I’m saying and it’s not it’s not like
it’s going to leave America and there’s
not going to be any tournaments in
America that will never happen all I’m
saying and I get what you’re saying too
but all I’m saying is like go to places
that are golf hungry bottom line
Australia clearly that way now is part
of it that the players like the top
players are lobbying for State Side
tournaments because they don’t want to
go to Australia they don’t want to go to
all these different places because they
travel enough already I’m sure that’s
got to be a part of it but at a certain
point if you want to grow and you don’t
want competitors coming in and holding
these events that are clearly popular in
the clips go viral you got to start
branching out regardless of what the top
dogs say yeah and I think there is a
general consensus now of at least among
the fans of like a world tour right and
that’s what R’s been talking about so
we’re in an interesting part of this
Saga which is going on over four years
now um that this has been happening I
remember that first meeting February of
2020 uh at Rivera actually and uh we’re
kind of at a place where the fans kind
it seems like kind of have a a desire
and and I think if if if J Monahan could
snap his hands snap his fingers and have
this world tour exist under the PJ tour
brand they probably would do it but it’s
just not that simple right like it’s you
got sponsored someone’s got to pay for
it and the PJ tour is bound by um
Revenue you know basically like fiscal
responsibility that live is not and so
they can’t just start a huge tournament
in Australia like we can say it and I’ve
said it and on videos all M get a
tournament Australia it’s not that easy
just do it you know get a tournament
Australia it’s a good idea yeah get you
know $50 million purse and someone will
pay for it and you you guys figure out
the details I I don’t know and I’ve said
this on this podcast before I don’t know
if and I’m sure they probably do but I
don’t know if the powers that be
understand the urgency that they need to
have in regards to having a sport that
is split and the talent is split that is
it’s killing it it’s going to kill it
the longer you go the more people are
just like they still haven’t figured out
so I’m not going to watch golf like I
don’t I don’t want to I only want to
watch the top players like I’ve said
that a million times and it doesn’t seem
like they have the urgency now if the
doj is standing in your way I totally
understand and it’s going to be a legal
process and going to take a long time I
just know from the feelings that I get
with the friends that I talk to and the
people we see when we’re out on golf
courses it’s like just [ __ ] figure it
out all we want to do is watch the top
players play I don’t know how you do it
but you got to figure it out somehow
some way yeah and if it’s if you know
it’s only the majors that people care
about that’s dangerous because then
you’re only in you’re only in people’s
minds four times a year and then if you
have a couple bad Majors people just
kind of forget like you know tennis I
think right now is kind of in a spot
where I you know I I can’t imagine that
ratings are super great so we don’t want
to go that way um no it’s it’s and it’s
it’s you know the the the narratives on
both sides kind of stink because for the
PGA tour right there’s been all these
headlines about Liv taking players and
taking major winners and so there’s a
there’s a narrative out there that the
PGA Tour you know you’re not playing
against the best players anymore and now
with Liv they don’t have Scotty and so
Scotty is like by far the number one
player and the best players so like when
Brandon seal wins a tournament it’s like
okay well cool but like you didn’t you
didn’t beat Scotty and so neither
tournament has only really only the
majors have that it does go back like
the uh Scotty winning that Masters very
important for his run because then he
can be like I beat everybody I’m all I’m
continually beating [ __ ] everybody no
guys and right and the guys who are on
live who you know they only really have
four times a year to Pro like John ROM
you know his his stock five months into
this is is way lower than it would have
been I think not not in terms of not his
actual stock like his actual dollars and
cents probably has probably has more
stocks than he’s ever had before T he’s
doing a lot of Investments he’s doing a
lot I would imagine he’s hard hard to
spend you know all that money but you
know he only he’s only really had one
chance since he went to sort of prove
himself in that you know Arena he hasn’t
wanted any of the live of ncet he’s been
the top 10 I think in like pretty much
all of them um but he had that one
chance to play against those guys and he
finished 30 whatever you know he had a
terrible week and he doesn’t really have
a chance again until the next major
championship and so you know I wonder I
wonder how he’s feeling about that
because also and Riggs and I talked
about this with Scotty being so far
ahead of everybody Rah is competitive as
[ __ ] he wants to play against Scotty he
wants to challenge Scotty like that’s
got to be killing him that he can’t play
against each other and it just stinks
just shitty situation the whole thing is
[Music]
shitty summmer about the freedom to have
fun but you don’t have to blow your
budget on a trip to make the most of it
forget a vacation and take a tequil
loation with new truly tequila soda I’ve
had these a lot at the Barcelo Classics
they go down so damn smooth the
refreshing blend of real fruit juice
from concentrate sparkling water and
premium tequila Blanco is the drink of
the summer Trent Ryan yeah man we take
the classic all the way across the
country and it’s uh presented by truly
so there’s a lot of trules at these
events and everybody loves them they
just as soon as they see the cooler
there’s coolers all over the golf course
and they’re like give me one of those
trules we’re going to be drinking them
all day the tequil Selter is a huge hit
out on the golf course so if you haven’t
tried it yet get yourself some but if
you have tried it continue drinking it
because it is the drink of the summer
try all four refreshing flavors lime
pineapple guava grapefruit and
watermelon all with 5% ABV and just a
100 calories take a tequila cation with
new truly tequila soda today TR truly

responsibly let’s switch gears to
something that’s more important than the
PJ tour and live the Myrtle Beach
qualifier I know you I don’t think I
don’t think you you haven’t talked about
since the video came out you haven’t
talked about it right no not I mean I
made a video or a Tik Tok where I was
basically just like you guys were all
wrong um I want to talk about it with
because I obviously I I I know you I
know you shot going afterwards cuz you
told us but there was like an NDA so
nobody knew I didn’t know what everybody
else shot um I I kind of just want to
give you the floor because holy [ __ ] did
you play really really well yeah I mean
Bush was there I I really just grinded
my ass off I I could not hit a fairway
for the life of me I think I hit like
two or three all day but I just stayed
and I really like I knew I knew that I
wasn’t going to make it the whole time I
you know I don’t shoot four under a par
in comp I like that just doesn’t really
happen like you know yeah it’s pretty
yeah I was practicing pretty hard going
in but you know I knew that I wasn’t
gonna make it or there was a 0 one%
chance that I was going to make it it
would have need to have been like 50 m
hour wins and everyone have shot a
million but I knew that that score was
going to like sit and last and that like
it was going to matter and and it was
going to be compared to everybody else
so I didn’t I never let myself like get
down um and I was actually one under
through six and I was like flying pretty
close to the sun made a made a bit of a
mess on kind of the like sixth hole
through the 12th or 13th hole but I made
a lot of putts I think I made five
birdies out there which was tough with
how the where the pins were and it was
just yeah I just I just grinded it out I
don’t know what would you what did you
see Bush man yeah exactly you grinded it
out and I think that um you made a few
you made a few putts that that mattered
and you kind of stayed levelheaded cuz
there you were really you started off
really really strong at a few I remember
you had a blow up hole on the front and
then I think you came back with a birdie
right after if I’m not wrong yeah I did
did I think there were two or three
times where you bogied or barely saved
par and you came back with a birdie
right after how would you rate your
catting skills do you think you helped
or hurt his you got to understand that
that’s true do you think Alex Bush
helped or hurt your score out there
helped for sure and and I I think you
know less so X’s and O’s and more so
Vibes like I he just he realized when
like you know I’m I you’re playing in
competition you’re a totally different
mindset than when you’re playing like in
you on YouTube on on camera because when
you’re on YouTube it’s about the you
know you you’re not getting mad you’re
not yelling at I mean maybe you are if
that’s kind of your thing but like it’s
about the entertainment where you know
you’re trying to entertain with this but
the entertainment was this whole concept
that we were so far out of our comfort
zone and we were all going to try to
shoot the lowest score possible so yeah
there were a couple times where I was
just like walking ahead and Alex would
just kind of give me my space and then
when he caught up to me you know he
would he would have a positive attitude
and be like all right come on like let’s
do this and uh yeah know it was great to
BU the last hole I gave myself a little
celebratory cigarette afterwards which
was [ __ ] awesome um I was like I I
told Alex I was like I don’t smoke
cigarettes really but like if I make
this last birdie like I’m gonna let
myself smoke a marro red and I’m gonna
enjoy it so I love that I I feel like I
there have been moments in my life just
you know through this job and whatever
various videos that we’ve done where I
have come off and been like I wish I had
a cigarette right now and I don’t smoke
either I have no desire I have no
addiction I it’s not a part of my life
but there are just times where you’re
like that was so good I want to smoke a
cigarette they the the celebratory
cigarette I think it it definitely
doesn’t count as like a cigarette you
know it’s not like no it’s just a it’s a
bit of a novelty thing so it was good I
you know we also we played in the first
group out we were the first group out
and everyone else was like so far behind
us so I didn’t really know how good of a
score it was cuz you’re kind of in your
thing and then when I S started to see
the scores roll in I was like okay I
beat some decent golfers today well
that’s what I wanted to say next was and
this is no shots but I just have a
couple of the scores and it was hard out
there this is tournament golf that
you’re playing uh Michel Morris 86 fat
Perez 81 dude we just filmed a bunch of
videos with the Bob doz guys and
obviously FP was there that dude is
incredible so like every shot he does
not miss so to see like an 81 and then
you shot a 76 like that’s really
incredible that and gr Horvat 79 Luke
Quan who’s a great golfer and been all
these guys have been in our videos and
their skills are undeniable they’re
incredible golfers and sometimes it just
bites you that’s the bottom line yeah
sometimes it just bites you and again
tournament golf is just like a bit of a
different sport a lot of it is about
grinding out a lot of it is about all
right you’ve got four feet for bogey
like do you are you do you have the
[ __ ] you know wherewithal to make
that put and go on to the next so I was
I was very proud of that it was super
fun I don’t the production of it I don’t
know if you watched the video itself I
was I was interested to see like what
they were going to do with it what were
your thoughts Bush as a production guy I
didn’t get through whole thing we were
on a we were on a trip but it was
definitely different we weren’t sure if
it was going to be more like a dock
style or like a broadcast style um but
they let a lot of stuff breathe and it
was more from what I kind of saw was
more like um more like golfy yeah but I
I I liked it so I don’t know what you it
was very it was very golfy I mean I
think the video is like a million views
or whatever it has like we’re looking at
today it’s like 850k I think something
like that right now still less than a
week so a lot of people watched it a lot
of people watched it um I thought it was
really nice that George they gave George
got a spot did you see that they gave
him a sponsor invite I did see that that
was nice so I was after the round I was
sitting there with Quan and we were
drinking quite a few beers yeah and uh
and we watched George make a mess of the
last soulle I don’t know if you watched
it but he he you know he needed a par to
win he was four undergo 18 he hits it in
the Fairway and I was a little surprised
surpris that they didn’t make 18
reachable it was at least for me it was
like it was like you know driver six
iron wedge it was but there’s water all
in front you’ve played that course and I
just I just expected because I hit a
good drive I expected to have like 240
in and be able to go for it because I
thought that’s kind of how they would
set it up yeah had like 275 so I could
go for it but I guess that George had a
like could have gone for it or was close
enough and he hit a he hit something way
right and then the rough was long and
there was water long of the water left
of the green and he’s right of the hole
and he he left himself a really kind of
delicate chip and it just kept trickling
and trickling and trickling and it went
in the water oh and I was and I I said
to him afterwards and I was little drunk
and I said to him or not drunk but I had
I go why didn’t you just hit six iron
wedge and the last thing that he wants
to hear after is me being like why did
you hit six iron wedge why is this guy
with cigarette breath telling me what to
do on the last toll yes he’s like I just
beat this guy by seven shots so I
thought it was awesome I thought it was
awesome that they gave him a spot likee
because the guy the guy who won Matt
Atkins I think he played this week in
the corn I’m going to look it up like
he’s won a corn fairy event before um he
Monday qualified into a PGA Tour event
uh not long ago like he he you know he
he
played he’s a good player and so he’s
not a YouTuber he’s a professional
golfer and I think having George in the
field um will help a lot like with the
tournament he’ll get at eyeballs and
George is obviously good enough he’s
played one PJ Tour event in his life and
he made the cut yeah um Brian Brothers
got have the hot hand right now it’s it
must be said you know George is there
and Wesley finished second uh to Billy
horel in PS the other week so they are
they’re they’re a little bit of a
different quality than the rest of the
YouTube golfers I wonder if they’ll do
that again the the Myrtle Beach
qualifier I think they should yeah I
think they I think they will I mean
Myrtle Beach the the team over there uh
play golf Myrtle Beach Kyle and uh Joe
gilban or k you know I think those Kyle
oand they are very ambitious and I
respect it a lot like they
you don’t think of like a tourism board
for a place being like a but they have
found a way to make themselves pretty
relevant in this like golf YouTube space
and you know they have we they’ve been a
big sponsor of ours for a long time
we’ve done there and we’ve done videos
you I know you guys have been down there
and done oh yeah stuff so it’s like I I
have a lot of respect for them in in
sort of seeing this potential Avenue for
growth and kind of kind of eling their
way into the space dude that is we talk
a lot about it with Taylor Made You have
to have that arm now if you want to
survive certainly in this world the like
the golf YouTube content world you have
to have an arm that is like we make
content or we sponsor people who make
content or we are somehow you got to dip
your toe in there you you got to jump in
because that’s where everything is going
so I know Taylor M saw it that’s why
they’ve got us that’s why they’ve got
Grant they’ve got Micah play Mortal
Beach is doing the same thing get all
these guys down here have them play have
it be a qualifier and your video is
going to get almost a million views in a
week that’s smart

so I played in the LPGA proam um this
week uh it was the tournament was in LA
and I I played with the commissioner and
we were talking a lot about this and you
know I was talking about ratings and you
know how ratings for the men’s game are
kind of down across the board and this
that the other and she goes you know
ratings are important but you know
what’s also important is like our social
metrics and that is something that these
leagues are really starting to pay
attention to and you know she said yeah
well you know maybe maybe the ratings
are down or consistent but our average
social audience was 2 million you know
five years ago and now it’s then 7
million and the week of Nelly it was 12
million and so they are they are keeping
track of this stuff it’s not just about
how many people are watching on TV
because TV is basically a metric for
eyeballs and exposure and the younger
generation isn’t watching it there so
the Myrtle Beach Classic will it do huge
numbers on Golf Channel no but I bet you
that there will be social clips that
come out of w of George and you know I’m
sure Wesley will play in the event and
like so the the total number of eyeballs
reached will probably be bigger it just
won’t show up in that sort of antiquated
number dude we talked about this a
couple months ago and I had heard
somebody Bill Simmons had a guest on I
can’t remember who it was but he was
talking about this new kind of fan where
like NBA TV numbers are down across the
board as well but social numbers are way
up there’s a new fan who doesn’t even
watch the games but follows the
narratives on social watches Clips
you’re looking at them right and I’m I I
kind of fall in that box too I’ll watch
a decent amount of NBA games but I’ll
also like just know what their
narratives are follow people on Twitter
follow people on Instagram and it’s it’s
this weird thing that I think nobody saw
coming where they’re not actually
watching the product on TV but they’re
still following the sport via social
clips and tweets and Instagram stories
just just different media like Emma my
wife is a good example she she will not
be bothered to watch sitting down and
watch a broadcast yeah but she watches
she watches full swing I wonder why but
she watches full swing and she follows
these guys on Instagram you know she
follows sath and she follows Joel Damon
and so she has a loose idea of what’s
going on but she’s not going to sit down
and watch four hours of the Myrtle Beach
Classic that that’s got to be whoever
figures out the best way to Coral all of
that into one thing or basically you
just have to get the right numbers and
Pitch it to the right advertisers who
believe those numbers and you’re like
dude listen those the TV ratings are
down but we got 25 million impressions
on this clip of Danny rap or this clip
of Grant Horvat or this clip of fat
Perez like that that [ __ ] matters that’s
where the young that’s where the young
demographic is and that’s where the
people who spend money are so whoever
figures that out that’s that’s the
future and the more that you get because
I know both those guys at Um Myrtle
Beach Kyle and Joe they’re like our age
and and the more you get people who came
up in our generation who are in
decision-making capacities at these
advertisers look there’s a reason like
you know everyone talks about golf being
down golf being down like we have a ton
of Spawn like our stuff is going great
and all these YouTube brands are going
great and just because people aren’t
watching on TV doesn’t mean that like
all of golf is not is not doing super
well dude the first like five years of
this thing was basically me and rigs
trying to find the people in these rooms
who were young enough to understand it
but were like seasoned enough to have a
voice in those rooms because then you
get the one guy who says oh maybe we do
this
and if the guys in if the older guys in
the room trust him enough to take a risk
on something that says bar stool Sports
on it and it works boom now you’re in
but that you’re right as things get
older as people get older I think
there’s more and more of those people in
those rooms so it’s easier but for the
longest time it was like if it has this
name on it and oh they’re just going to
put it on YouTube and they’re going to
do social Clips on Twitter guys are like
no no we’re we’re a television brand we
want ratings up it’s starting to flip
completely the other way and whoever
gets ahead of it and it’s already
happening so it’s probably too late
anyway but that is where things are
going for sure that’s where the money’s
gonna go that’s where the money’s going
to go it’s where the eyeballs are uh
speaking of Taylor Made golf quite uh
quite a run they’re on so the best
player in the LPGA Tour Nelly Corda
she’s tailor made yep best player on the
PGA tour Scotty sheffler he is tailor
made the number one player in the PGA
Tour you standings is Michael
thorbjornson he’s a tailor made player
and this kid miles Russell dude
15-year-old kid is a tailor made staffer
so Miles Russell finished uh T20 in the
leom Sun Coast Classic in his first ever
Pro event 15 years old this kid is he
shot 14 under par and he played the next
week he played this past week and he
missed the cut but he shot four under
for the two rounds so he was 18 under
par for his six rounds against the pros
um and just a little con you know this
we’re sort of in the 15y old category
now you know Charlie wood shot 81 and
his local qualifier for the US Open so
it’s a little bit of context on 15 is
like not even that young anymore because
you got guys like miles Russell who are
that [ __ ] good and this kid is
special he’s the youngest ever winner of
the junior players he’s the youngest
ever he beat Tiger Woods to be the
youngest ever ajga Player of the Year
this kid is unbelievably good right like
I I almost need more context and I feel
like there’s a lot of people who fall in
this boat as well like are we looking at
what are we looking at are we looking at
a guy who’s going to work his way all
the way up and then when this kid
23 he’s going to have a green jck like
obviously you can’t predict that but I’m
saying is that the sort of trajectory
we’re looking at I think so and I and I
think one of one of the reasons why is
because you know there are some 15y olds
who look 25 this kid looks 15 yep like
he is not very large he’s got kind of a
child’s body still so I would imagine in
the next three or four years he’s going
to get a lot bigger he’s going to get a
lot stronger he’s going to hit the ball
a lot further he is very far from a
finished product um and just the way
that he talks like he’s he he sounds
like he’s you know he doesn’t look 25
but he sounds like he’s 25 so I think
you know this is a guy it’s hard to it’s
hard to project you never know you know
maybe he falls out of love with golf or
but it doesn’t seem that way it seems
like he’s going to be on the PGA tour
you know kind of by the time he’s 20
years old and and you know they’re just
getting better and better younger and
younger and uh yeah it’s uh it’s it’s
scary times to be a pro golfer like you
got these kids are coming like what is
his average distance off the te do we
have those numbers I think he said yeah
I think he said he hits it about 280 to
290 so he are we talking about yeah yeah
and he’s not very big like you said and
I agree with you like he’s I he’s 15 so
he’s obviously gonna get bigger he’s
gonna hit it further he’s already
averaging 280 290 like I agree with the
last thing you said for sure where it’s
like holy [ __ ] this next generation’s
coming and we got a 15-year-old who’s
hitting at 280 what the [ __ ] it’s yeah I
mean this this is the generation that
grew up with trackman and grew up with
perfect equipment and they’re smarter
than ever and theyve they’ve grown up
with all these course management systems
so they know when to attack Flags they
know when not to they know the
mathematically optimized targets like
they are um a special group The Corn
Fury tour is just brutal right now I
think the cut this week was seven under
maybe eight under um Frankie sappin shot
58 on Thursday um there have now been
six rounds under 60 on the corner f tour
in the the last 12 months I yeah I don’t
even know how to wrap my head around
that it’s so it’s you know I when when
when the the roll back announcement was
made I was I was kind of anti I’m GNA do
a little Rory ma over here I kind of
understand what I kind of understand
because without without this I mean it’s
not there could be a perfect round of
golf it’s it’s like POS like where
someone birdies every hole like that
that’s kind of the next Frontier we’ got
a guy a guy shot they’ve had a 57 and a
58 and I think 259 already this year on
the cornn f tour yeah I mean that’s
insane you that’s like and they’re
playing courses that are obviously not
as hard as the PGA Tour courses but
they’re also not like the course this
this week was like 7,000 so these are
they play kind of more normal courses
that like you or I might see right where
it’s not 7500 yards but it’s 7,000 yards
and they just shoot 58 like it’s no
problem scary what do you got Alex I got
his uh average driving distance on corn
fairy is 277.49
like he’s 15 and he’s small and so you
know but he probably hits it [ __ ]
perfectly optimized his spin rates are
probably perfect like he’s you it’s it’s
uh and he’s playing in a Tour event he
got an invite uh because he was the agga
player of the year I think that like the
Bermuda tournament gives invites to the
reigning ajga player of the year so
we’re going to see him uh in the fall
playing in a PGA Tour event insane what
did you just react to Alex Bush did you
have something else I mean do you want
to know what his longest drive on the
cornerer tours absolutely don’t believe
this 350 did this hit a [ __ ] car path
what is it 380 what yeah I mean it was
windy in Texas probably downwind like
you know yeah yeah no it’s uh but yeah
Taylor M Taylor M’s hot they’re hot
there were three Taylor Made staffers uh
among the uh sort of influencers or
whatever you want to call us yeah Danny
rap finished first
[Music]
bang I feel like I heard someone say
recently that can’t earn rewards if
you’re staying in a vacation rental it’s
demonstrably false with verbo that’s
incorrect it’s just not a true statement
with verbo you can book a vacation
rental for your next golf outing and
earn 2% cash back towards your next
vacation through the one key Rewards
program so relax knowing during your
next golf trip you can stay in a
vacation rental and actually get
rewarded for it Trent I know you guys
have been traveling a lot verbo is just
the way to go man yeah we use verbo
everywhere we go we use it in Augusta
it’s it’s also just fun I do this almost
every day I’ll just go on verbo and put
in a location and see if there’s a place
available a vacation place Florida
California everywhere and you’re just
kind of window shopping but it also
sticks in your head where you’re like if
I want to go to this place I can and if
I do go I’m using verbo for all the
reasons that you’re saying cash back um
I think they’ve got the where it’s
you’re never at a place where there’s
someone else staying like it’s always
you have the entire house which there
are so many horror stories where the
host is there and being weird
I’ve always if you go to a place and you
are staying like with a host that you
don’t know psych that’s the craziest
thing I’ve ever heard on verbo it’s all
you got the whole place to yourself and
that is that is a huge perk huge perk
it’s it’s the you know for the next
month basically every place in the
country has good weather right it’s like
it’s warm enough in the east coast now
it’s not hot yet in the South so if
you’ve ever booked a vacation rental and
found yourself stuck making small talk
with the host like we talked about
that’s super awkward why deal with it
when all you want to do is spend quality
time with your golf buddies with verbo
the the host never stays with you you
can relax knowing you’ll get the whole
home to yourself there’s nothing more
frustrating than when you’re on a
vacation and there’s an issue and you’ve
got you’re on hold forever you leave a
message you got to send a text or an
email a person is who you want to talk
to and that’s the key difference between
verbo and other vacation rentals is the
speed and ease in which you can get in
touch with a human allowing you to get
back to playing golf with Furbo you can
receive discounts the longer you stay at
a property so you can save when you stay
for an extended period of time book your
next private vacation rental in the
verbo
[Music]
app one more thing on the live event
yeah uh Anthony Kim he finished dead
last um he’s in his I think he’s he’s
played Four events now he’s been
53d right this is all out of 54 players
53rd 50th 53rd and
54th um he’s a combined 46 overpar in 12
rounds and this is the problem with
comebacks that we’ve talked about before
yep is when it’s never the same it’s
just never the same your imagination is
far better and far more entertaining
than reality I know they say what is it
truth is Stranger Than Fiction it’s not
true when it comes to comebacks because
you usually get the answer and it’s not
the answer you wanted it’s not the
answer that you wanted like you know I
think we all had sort of dreams of of
him coming back and you know wearing the
white bu belt buckle and you know but he
he’s Anthony Kim in 2024 is just not the
same person that Anthony Kim was in 2009
that’s you know that’s how humans work
that’s how humans work like especially
when you throw in like you know about 35
pounds of whatever he put in his body
yep probably more you know I don’t know
if that’s a reasonable number for 12
years maybe maybe more I wonder yeah I
would be curious that’s one of those
things where like I people have said
this before I’m not the first but like I
would love a Spotify rap of when you die
of like what everything you did like how
much water did you drink how many beers
did you drink I would love that for an
Anthony Kim or like a Keith Richards on
like how much of all of the stuff did
you do is 35 pounds crazy I don’t know
what would be for you what would be the
food that you think you’ve eaten the
most of in your life oh that’s a good
question for me it’s it’s hummus as
weird as that is really yeah I am a big
I always have hummus in the fridge and I
like basically shovel it into my mouth
with celery like all the time I think
that is actually also like the that
shows that you’re somewhat healthy I
think mine would probably be tacos tacos
just tacos in general I’ve had a lot of
tacos are you a hard shell or a soft
shell guy I’m a soft shell guy his hard
shells just too messy to be completely
honest I don’t know why like I If I have
a hard shell if I if I come across uh a
taco bar that has hard shell I’m not
turning up my nose and walking away I’m
still eating six tacos they just they’re
hard shell I I don’t really have a
reason for one preference one way or the
other you think you’ve had over under a
thousand tacos in your life over for
sure over for sure 5,000 oh man it’s
probably in between those two numbers I
bet it lands around
3,000 okay so three yeah 3,000 tacos
there how do you how do you measure
hummus is it by like uh what’s the
measure it’s got to be like by like
court or whatever it comes you know what
I mean it’s kind of a hard one to it’s
kind of a hard because it’s it’s sort of
a solid but sort of also kind of a
liquid be yeah I mean I get two at the
beginning of every weekend they’re
usually gone by Thursday so but yeah the
Anthony Kim stuff has been it’s kind of
what unfortunately I expected as you
grow up you you know when you’re young
you believe in Santa Claus and you’re
like that’s a real thing and you get the
pay off and you’re like Santa Claus is
real as you get older things just don’t
work like that they just don’t yeah it’s
sad I’m trying to think like it it is a
like the the it just doesn’t feel like
the roll out was that good either like I
you know they kind of they brought him
back without really telling the full
story and I know they are working on a
documentary where which I’m sure it’s
like I think a live documentary but I
know Anthony Kim is like participating
in this and and they’ve asked him for
specifics I think everyone just wants to
hear him be like yeah like I did a crazy
amount of this and I got in this you
know and I think that will eventually
come out I think and I think maybe
having it that information before the
comeback would have added some juice to
it but I think they kind of tried to to
shring it out but now
the concern is that when this if if his
golf doesn’t start to turn around when
this documentary comes out it’s like
yeah well that that [ __ ] him up like
to be clear people already don’t care
about Anthony Kim anymore I you think
you think it’s dead I mean you you
listed off his finishes like it’s not he
he’s got the he hasn’t got the ball
rolling in any certain way where it’s
like what you’re saying if you lead with
this is where I’ve been the last 10
years and then you start to get into the
Gulf that is far more interesting than
it’s exactly what you just laid out
where now he’s playing like [ __ ] I don’t
really know what happened I feel like
some pretty gnarly stuff went down that
I would love love love to hear about but
we’re going to get that too late and
then it’s going to be like oh yeah no sh
no re no of course this guy’s not
playing well he did all this for 10
years yeah it feels like the the the
order was a little bit backwards maybe I
AG um one more thing on the corn fairy
tour before we move on to I want to talk
about Tommy Fleetwood a little bit um
Tim Whiting has won won back-to-back
events so he is now in position to get
the very rare Battlefield promotion
where if you win three events on the
corn fairy tour uh you go to the PJ tour
right away and he’s already got two and
it’s only April and there’s a bunch of
events left he also missed it barely
last year I think he finished like 30th
or something 35 first or whatever in the
points so he’s in a um a great spot
Tommy Fleetwood yeah is like he’s that’s
he is the killing the caddy department
just killing the caddy department so
couple weeks ago he had the local cadd
at Augusta greymore he finishes tied for
third that guy makes like 80 grand the
caddy does for 8% or whatever it is
everyone loved that story it was awesome
and then he shows up he’s got an off
week this week because he played you
know RBC Heritage and the Masters and he
went back home to Dubai and caded for
his stepson in uh his stepson is 17
years old very good amateur player
played in The Challenge Tour event so
the European version of the Corn fairy
tour made the cut and Tommy was on the
bag and the pictures were incredible
incredible Tommy fleetwood’s just a
great guy we’re we’re talking about
tailor made athletes and and obviously
Tommy’s very good you you alluded to it
with his Masters finish but they’ve got
the Scotties the Nellies the Rory’s all
this and that is we’re we’re heaping
praise onto Taylor Made because of the
performance that those athletes have
given they ALS tail mate also kills it
in the human being Department with Tommy
Fleetwood he is just the nicest coolest
guy you can run into we ran into him at
the RBC obviously didn’t have a great
week but like gave me the biggest hug in
the world now he’s going back to Dubai
and he’s catting for his stepson like I
just love Tommy Fleetwood I I I have a
lot of love in my heart for Tommy
Fleetwood just one of those guys that
you you know when you see him you smile
he’s just he’s just a fan favorite uh I
think a lot of people were a little bit
surprised at the age of his stepson um
Tommy married his uh agent uh and she’s
quite a bit older than he is so that
explains because Tommy’s got they have a
kid the two of them his named Frankie I
believe somewhat after Frankie Molinari
not after Frankie brle unfortunately um
and that kid’s like five or six years
old I think and stepson is obviously 17
so that explains the age Gap there okay
yeah that makes sense so everyone so
everyone knows now um one more thing
that I have I don’t know if there’s
anything else on you burnhard longer I
was on my list as well dude this guy
what kind of [ __ ] blood spinning in
Germany is this guy doing guy Tes
Achilles three months ago and he’s
coming back he’s
66 yeah man he’s the he’s the machine
it’s Albert Pool and Bernard longer he’s
6 six you don’t come back from an
Achilles in 3 months if you’re 26 like
what this he is he’s an ageless wonder
he is something else and I think it’s
kind of his career has been so
fascinating because he’s it’s going to
be remembered a lot for what he did
after he turned 50 years old he’s got 12
majors and 45 wins on the PJ tour
Champions and now he’s 66 and he ain’t
stopping so I read the article that you
had tweeted out about this and in it
longer credits or sites Aaron roders as
like a motor motivator for his quick
turnaround for his Achilles so I don’t
know if they doing the same thing CU
Aaron Rogers got the same injury right
he his Achilles so Bernard logger
somehow took some inspiration or maybe
they some IA Joe Rogan gave him the same
pills that he gave Aaron Rogers I don’t
know but there’s something going on with
the Aaron roders coaching tree of of Tor
Achilles that it’s like if you listen to
what Aaron Rogers says you can come back
in a miraculous amount of time yeah I
mean I 3 months at 66 years old is is
just something special that guy is
unbelievable he’s probably going to win
another he’s I I I have a hard time
think he’s not going to win again um on
the PJ tour Champions probably pretty
soon because that’s kind of what he does
is is is beat up on
everybody Tor playing pickle ball and
like the thing about the senior tour is
like the vast majority historically
they’re all one between the guys between
the age of 50 and 55 because they can
still hit the ball a long way this guy
is 66 and still just absolutely kicking
ass kicking ass
um I probably should have done this out
the top a little bit of housekeeping
Derby City Duel few spots left um it’s
two man scramble Monday May 13th Wood
Haven Country Club Louisville 1M shotgun
start I know there’s just a couple spots
left if you haven’t signed up and you’re
going to be in the area again it’s a
two-man scramble a lot of fun we’ll be
out there having a good time um so yeah
come to the Derby City Duel and and get
involved and participate because it’s
going to be fun those those Monday
events are that we’ve had at uh majors
are super super for fun there’s a little
bit of major buzz in the air we’re going
to be all there it’s you know the
tournaments the week’s just getting
started so everyone’s kind of loose and
Loosey Goosey you never know what you
might see major week maybe you know
bring a special who knows who knows you
know Jake naap came over last time so
who knows um and then also I think we
sold out the uh we sold out the merch
right Gone Gone unbelievable the yeah
the PJ Championship barcel golf
collaboration sold out that that was
like the horse um T-shirt that I love
the the whiskey one like we we sold out
of the that’s gone shout out to
everybody who bought shirts there were
crew necks the whole deal the more when
we sell those things out the collabs
with the PJ championship and you know
the Ridder cup and all that stuff uh
Waste Management the players all that
anytime we sell it out that means it’s
coming again next year so we really
appreciate it we have a lot of fun doing
these it’s still crazy to us that we
able to collab with these huge
tournaments and these huge events so
when they sell out just puts a good foot
forward for us and it tells those
entities that all right we’re going to
keep working with these guys so from the
bottom of our hearts we really really
appreciate all that stuff it’s the big
it’s the biggest thing you can do for us
really I mean you know obviously
watching and following is huge but like
for you for you guys to actually spend
money that you’ve earned um for stuff
that we put out there like that’s what
that’s what keeps the lights on that’s
what keeps us doing what we 100% if we
can sell merch we can do anything we you
know like it all just falls into place I
have one more thing we’re going to get
to from the gallery but I wrote one
thing in my notes that is is pretty
random but I was going through your
Twitter um cuz I would just want to see
what you might want to talk about on the
podcast today you have
303,000 followers on Twitter yeah is
that what yeah yeah BR so that’s a Ser I
I want to just congratulate you on
passing the 300 th th follow I I have
not passed that that’s like bro that’s
legit numbers yeah little old little old
Danny is you know making some making
some progress getting up near 100K on
Instagram like you know little Danny’s
coming you know don’t don’t don’t look
now in a world where
I think it’s really hard to grow on
Twitter and I guess I don’t know where
you started or what you had like 6
months ago a year ago two years ago but
300,000 is a [ __ ] ton of Twitter
followers yeah I think I had like one
105 or 106 when I joined you guys in
September of 2022 so in a year and a
half grown that pretty good you got so
you’ve got 200,000 followers in whatever
how long you’ve been with us yeah I
think full swing also helped a lot for
that not to not not to diminish just the
this incredible organization that we’re
running here I think full swing helped a
lot with that um but yeah no it’s been
good I also like I
also in the last two years most of my
content lives on social media like
that’s kind of where my content is like
my Instagram like you guys use Instagram
where it’s like you post pictures and
like you know photo dumps fun stuff that
you do like I like that’s my content
like I I make like these informational
videos I do these like green screens so
I think that’s also like I’ve made a
very concerted effort to that’s where
the eyeballs are so I’ve decided to try
to grow that so that’s what we were
talking about earlier that’s where the
eyeballs are ladies and Gent are should
we do some uh should we do one or two
for the galleries I don’t want to I
don’t want to keep everybody too long on
the Danny and Trent show I know I know
it’s been from the gallery brought to
you by Fireball ignite the night get
yourself some Fireball um we’re going to
have videos coming out soon uh again
with Bob doz and all them we talked a
little bit on the last show yeah how was
that it great how was how was it down in
J it was fantastic um we had we had a
really good time obviously not going to
give any of the results away but we had
a really good time we did two days um
couple videos for our Channel video for
their Channel um it’s always good
hanging out with those guys they’re
really really was there was rigs not
there one of the days I saw a picture
where it was just the six of you guys
yeah so he he had done the classic in
Arizona and then flown he flew across
country and couldn’t get there in time
because he had to fly into Miami and
then drive however long that is two
hours so he got there late so the first
day which I think are going to be the
videos on our Channel it was me and
Frankie and the Bob doz guys so he won’t
be in that video he won’t be in any of
those videos but then the one we shot
for the Bob dud Channel rigs will be in
that one be he just got there a little
bit late cuz of the classic do they have
like a office situation in did they
build like a cuz they all moved down
there right like their whole operations
down there now they are all down there I
don’t think I don’t know if they have an
office space or not we didn’t see
anything like that um we just met them
at the golf course each day so but yeah
I think all three of them are down there
and yeah we had a good time I’m people
are really really going to like those
videos those are always fun those guys
are winners they are winners uh from the
gallery Fireball ignite the night uh
again we we drank a bunch of it during
those videos Fireball is just a great
great way when you’re on the golf course
if you’re having a if you’re not having
a great round if you are having a great
round drink some Fireball have some fun
with your friends that’s just the way to
do it they got the little Shooters throw
them in your bag bang drink a couple of
them your day is way better changes it
just immediately elevates the vibe out
there it’s just everyone’s in on it
together that’s right then you’re all in
it together that’s exactly right so get
yourself some Fireball get the shooters
and uh enjoy them on the golf course
I’ve got two from the galleries the that
I picked out from the list that Alex
Bush sent us the first one is going to
be pretty quick um it’s Zach from
Connecticut he says podcast idea Rigs
and Trent listen and react to Fourplay
episode one been a listener for three
years listen to episode one today for
the first time crazy to see how far the
show has come hats off to the boys
absolutely not well I was going to say
that’s a great [ __ ] idea absolutely
not Have you listened have you ever
listened since
no dude you’re quality bad like did you
guys have mics and stuff no we
definitely had mics it was at the old
the old old New York office the first
New York office I remember where we were
it was me and rigs in the old Radio Room
our first guest was Oli SNY Jans and we
were just very nervous I the reason I
don’t want to go back and listen to it
is because dude that’s the first time
either of us now we had done Test
episodes and we had talked and we’d been
on other shows I’ve been going on KFC
radio since I got hired so it wasn’t our
first podcast but it was the first
podcast that was our own so I’m sure we
were off thewall nervous like blabbering
I mean we do we’re we still blabber but
it’s like it’s a little bit more
coherent and we have ideas and topics
dude I I I would rather get punched in
the face by like Mike Tyson and listen
to myself on episode one of the Fourplay
podcast I get that like it it was the
start of something that was great and
has changed my life and has made my life
infinitely cooler but I have no interest
in listen to the first episode was it
called foreplay right away and how did
you guys settle on that name it was
foreplay right from the jump we might
have put out might have been one of
those situations where little
crowdsourcing we did a little bit of
crowdsourcing where it was like Hey
we’re starting a golf podcast we’re kind
of in the in the business of looking for
names and maybe somebody suggested
foreplay it was originally which is
funny now looking back at it we did a
test episode where we didn’t have a name
and it was the unnamed golf podcast
which we now have the unnamed show at
barille sports with Kirk Wht and Dave
but yeah four it was Fourplay from the
beginning and I we might have
crowdsource that name I’d have to go
back and look but you guys you guys took
one of the actual good names for because
now now like every podcast new golf
podcast they have to sort of be
self-aware about how everything is so
it’s always like the best golf podcast
or like the brand new like it’s they’re
trying to be ironic where you guys
actually got a good p in there when
you’re when you’re M when you’re naming
a podcast that is sports specific spefic
you don’t want to do the thing where
you’re using lingo from that sport but
it’s a podcast about that sport so you
have to be in that lane like it’d be
weird if we named it something not golf
related so you you don’t want to get
caught in that box but you’re also like
we want people to know it’s a golf
podcast so four play is what we went
with I think what we later on we just
like it’d be nice just should be called
like the Golf Show you know yeah
something yeah when I I try when I tell
like when I’m talking my parents friends
and they’re like oh so like what’s the
name of your podcast I’m like foreplay
they’re like what listen I’m very proud
of this show uh again it changed my life
we’ve done a lot of cool things the name
is is we were in our mid 20s being like
we’re starting a golf podcast for barol
sports you want to like you want to grab
people right you want you wanted to grab
people there weren’t a ton of golf
podcast there’s probably no laying up in
us at that point now golf content and
podcasts are everywhere but wanted a
name that was like what are they doing
over there and foreplay was the one that
grabbed people we would go on Golf
Channel and we would rigs would go on
[ __ ] MSNBC and people would be like
your your podcast is what and it does
grab people and you want that early on I
you still can’t search for foreplay on
Tik Tok like it doesn’t it doesn’t come
up so you have to you have to do
foreplay pod in sure you don’t want to
listen to the beginning of it no I do
not I really don’t I found it can you
play it can you can you give us like 30
seconds oh my God try
just give us 30 seconds literally 30 you
can make it you can close your [ __ ]
ears I want to hear it 30 seconds but
just play 30 second play play the open
was this like was was was it like we’re
going to talk about the PJ tour we talk
about what we talk like what we do so I
remember when we would plan it out we
originally we were like it’s going to be
mostly about guys golfing with their
friends it was going to there was going
to be like a PJ tour segment where we
would talk about it but I would say that
was going to be 20% of the show and then
the other 80 was going to be you know
what games do you play out there with
your friends let’s take listener emails
and talk about it was not a PJ tour
podcast no got it all right fire it up
you got it I got it nightmare I’m living
in a nightmare right now it is Waste
Management Phoenix Open week first
episode golf podcast presented by
bartool Sports Trent and rigs uh Trent
how you feeling I feel good I feel good
this is a uh bu the common golfer for
the common golfer podcast that’s kind of
the tagline kind of a perfect we with
the was management because that’s I mean
as Rowdy and as common man as you can
get it’s as it’s as Trent and Rigs of an
event as there is totally bunch of guys
drinking throwing beers 16th hole is
wild bananas see this is what it was
going to be that’s what it was someone
have said that we should have started
like the first episode with the first
big tour of the year at Tory Pines no no
no we’re gonna do a waste management
when this is the kind turn turn off turn
off I can’t listen anymore I mean it
honestly mean sounds the same sounds
like pretty much the same does it’s very
similar we what what it might show
people is that there’s been very little
growth in terms of um our podcasting
skills and kind of what we do I just in
general do not like listening to myself
so um I appreciate the idea I but I
don’t want to that was enough for me
what I just got there okay fair enough
let’s do one more do you have that about
yourself like you you don’t like watch
dude oh yeah more more it’s like TW TW
like old tweets really freak me out I
went and cleaned up a bunch of those not
because of like not just because of like
saying bad [ __ ] but just like trying to
be like I think when I first started at
bar stool I kind of tried to like be a
little bar stooie and like get in the
mix a little bit and like talk to people
and it just wasn’t me so I I think even
those like tweets from not that long ago
would probably make me cringe oh yeah I
yeah the tweets don’t give me as much as
vid any video and audio content I’m just
like because I look at myself and I go
that’s a guy who in his heart of hearts
has no idea a what he’s doing like even
still that’s called imposter syndrome
yeah I suppose I mean it’s gone okay but
I still it’s gone very well when I hear
myself I’m like God this was the other
one I grabbed I thought it was kind of
interesting um Brian didn’t say where he
was from he said in 20 to 25 years who
do you think will be the honorary
drivers of the Masters tiger Phil and
who else and did Phil ruin his chances
with Liv that is a great question
because I’ve I’ve thought about this a
lot because great Jack and Gary aren’t
going to be there for you know that much
longer in another 25 Tom Watson is the
new guy they’ve added y um but I yeah 20
years he’ll probably be in his 90s who
knows if he I think it will be Jordan
spe is a name that comes to mind I don’t
think it will be in 20 or 25 years
probably a little bit more than that
he’s only won one Masters but like he’s
Texas like they love Scotty Sheffer has
a good chance too they love him there I
think I really think that spe like he
kind of has that that appeal of like I
could see him you know there’s only a
couple guys that they’ve invited to be
members of the club like actual members
of the club not just honorary members
and I think it’s like Jack Nicholas and
Ben khaw and kensaw won two uh Masters
and it’s just like a Texas guy that
everybody loves he Southern boy like
those guys I think spe is is kind of my
Wild Card pick do you think that Phil
ruined his chances to do it I think no I
don’t think so I think I think it’s you
know it’s only been what a couple years
and I think people are kind of over it
think about how much has changed in the
last four years in 25 years this is all
going to be sorted out and if it hasn’t
been then golf has imploded and it
doesn’t even really exist anymore in 25
years nobody’s going to give a [ __ ] what
Phil did four years ago like that’s no
chance I completely agree I completely
agree and I think Phil has something
that a lot of other people don’t have
which is he’s very charming and so once
this like goes away once this then he’ll
just continue to be like fun fun
remember when he was doing the Fireside
Chats before all this happened everyone
Phil was Phil was the guy like and when
he wenton to Kia it was like you know an
incredible incredible moment so I yeah I
think Time Heals all right when he was
before the live stuff happened he was on
social media he was the most famous and
most accomplished guy who embraced
social media and he was really good at
it like tiger never gave a [ __ ] like
tiger they they they’ll tweet out a tgr
link every once in a while and that’ll
kind of be what it is Phil was like
you’re saying doing Fireside Chats
interacting on social media like getting
into it a guy like that given 20 25
years after whatever quote unquote
mistake or what not even a mistake just
what he did nobody’s going to care so I
completely agree so I’m going to say
2055 Masters which is 30 years I’m going
to give it 30 cuz spe is 30 okay you’re
gonna have it’s gonna be Tiger Woods
Phil Mickelson and Jordan spe wow they
they just are so different in age th
those two to that one yeah I mean
they’re yeah they’re like 20 years apart
but I don’t know I just think I I think
spe of like the current guys is he’s so
beloved everyone loves him for sure but
who of the Tiger Woods Phil Mickelson
era could even sneak in as a third like
is there anybody I mean no because I I
mean V VJ that was the one name that I
thought people don’t but people don’t
really like VJ I don’t think because of
all like you know the cheating stuff and
like I just don’t think that he has you
know Ernie L’s never won the Masters
yeah um you have to win The Masters I
think in order to do it so I don’t yeah
I don’t I don’t tiger happen Phil and
anhel Cabrera the three guys who are
going to be hitting I was about to say
that all right how hell is going to be
back next year as he gets a Visa they
said he’s welcome back he did his time
and I guess what says that has to be
three I mean obviously it was Arie Jack
and Gary and they added Watson when Arie
passed away but you could do two you
could do two tiger and pH are locks for
sure um all right that’s been the Danny
and trench show I think it went okay I
think it went great I think it went
really great I think we can do it
whenever we need to whenever those two
guys are stepping out I think we can we
can pick up the slack no hockey talk
just pure golf just pure golf Islanders
are down 3-1 I know everyone was dying
to know what’s going on Islanders are
down 3-1 it’s the honestly and we’re not
going to talk hockey we’re just GNA
finish this but giv that we’re not we’re
not talking hockey giv that guy a little
bit of Hope honestly feels almost more
bad to me than getting swept D the
videos have yeah it’s one of them one of
them more incredible he goes he looks at
the camera he goes what happened what
happened all right that’s all the hockey
talk uh that was the Danny and Trent
show hit it hard we’ll see you next
we’ll see you on Thursday hit it hard
hit it hard

  1. Trent with the fake tan…so weird. Dan Rapp hates LIV….open your eyes lads…LIV completely overshadowed the pga tour this week

  2. Trent needs 4 people. The more he’s allowed to talk the more of a clown he looks. Jesus he really is a dumb dumb

  3. How could you not watch the entire LIV event. Weak understanding to be able to comment on. Trent the top players in the World play for LIV. Just a fact.

  4. Danny Scoops brings the scoops so we follow Danny Scoops.
A golf pod without an hour of hockey talk….what is this nonsense?

  5. Wow this has been the best Foreplay Pod I’ve seen. And I’m a regular watcher. Danny & Trent have a great flow

  6. Dan has become such an asset to the pod because he so plugged in to the world of golf. He’s able to talk about all the different happenings. Good show guys

  7. The PGA's equity is not to reward players who stayed for their loyalty. Thats the biggest load of crap. What they are doing is buying their loyalty, aka paying them not to also leave. To even think that players who stayed are owed anything by the PGA tour for staying is ludicrous. They stayed and were immediately rewarded with more than doubling the purses, bringing in no cut events and all within a weaker field. Add to that the OWGR being heavily skewed towards the PGA tour in you have a bunch of guys on tour raking in cash like never before even with mediocre performance. Talk about having your cake and eat it too which was so often thrown at the LIV guys. Here you have a bunch of guys who were too scared to take the leap, who are now in a position to badically take the tour for ransom to be compensated for not leaving. They put the pressure on the PGA Tour to do this and they pretty much are forced to if they even hope to get some sort of merger agreement to happen.

Take someone like Westwood, Kaymer, Poulter. Had they known that the purses were going to do what they did in reaction to LIV, they could have just stayed and would probably have raked in the highest winnings in their career for just playing the same or even little worse that they used to. But they had to be the guys to take the leap for it to happen.
