well welcome everyone
is a great tradition that we Jonathan
and I have been doing for it’s our 31st
year and
um think
about when we did uh Gerard Mayo he said
mayo and craft go together and I saw the
headlines in the I thought it was the
end of April but one of the papers in
town said Mayday has arrived and uh
that’s pretty exciting so without any
further Ado I’d like to introduce our
number one draft choice Drake
May so much yes sir yes
sir sweet what’s going on guys thank you
Mr CRA U thank you John that was awesome
so just glad to be here um first time in
Gillette Stadium uh can’t beat this and
just um you know can’t wait to you know
play in here and get going and get
started I’m over there
facility um shoot I think are we doing
some press or I got I a I got a lot of
words to say I can say a bunch that’s
done it before and ready you know get
that um back on track and just ready for
uh get things
going Drake uh I know you talked about
some of this last night but what sort of
preconceived ideas did you have about
the Patriots when you were growing up
when you were going to North Carolina
what did you think about this team this
franch has from Far yeah I think the
first thing that’s just getting
emphasized over and over is family I
think you know Mr craft just hit on it
um kind of up there and you when I first
you know met him and uh just you that’s
kind of what we come from North Carolina
I’m such a family you know Place
University and uh like I said bring
brought my three brothers here and uh
this mean the world to me and just the
work ethic I think you know the biggest
thing is winning championships here and
that’s you got to put in the work for
that so it’s glad to be a part of that
culture um feel like I fit right in and
I just ready to get get working and uh
get be all about ball
Drake um growing up in uh Carolina North
Carolina right over here to your left um
gotcha I’m guessing you weren’t a big
Tom Brady fan or how did you feel about
the Patriots Yeah just the goat I think
you know any any quarterback’s got to be
a Tom Brady fan um just you know what he
did and I think they’re already talking
about you know June 12th is going to be
sold out for Tom and celebration for him
so just you we’ll be honored to get to
meet him um get to pick his brain and uh
you know one of the greatest you know to
ever do it so just be um you know be be
be an awesome moment to get to meet him
and um you know like I said just uh be a
sponge soak it all
in Drake first of all welcome to New
England appreciate it uh your brothers
obviously are here there’s that really
funny video on social media that’s
floating around the kind words that they
had to say exactly just growing up in a
house where you’re the youngest of four
how much did that factor into sort of
the competitive nature that you have as
a player oh I think it’s a it’s a it’s a
big part of it I always being the you
youngest brother I was the runt for a
while you know they’re all over there
you know 67 68 and 69 so I’m still the
shortest um but I was the instigator
growing up you know I was getting beat
up on um you know luckily I was the most
athletic so I could run away from them
they couldn’t catch me uh but no they
were they play a big part in uh you my
role of getting here today and uh just
Sports has done you know so so much to
our family and and put us in this
position and just glad get to share this
moment with them and those are my three
best friends over there so that video
was was pretty funny um I’m sure I’ll
get I’ll get back at them somehow
so hey Drake right over here uh do you
have bragging rights for life now over
your three older brothers yeah you know
I think you know I think in the May
family you know championships you know
kind of kind of rules over anything so
maybe until I I get one of those you
know they got you know two national
champions over there so I think that
still trumps you know being a first
round draft
choice Drake on the field down here uh
what was your first impression of Gerard
mayo and how do you feel about playing
for a first year head coach yeah coach
Mayo is a player coach I can you know
easily ride away way um you know see how
um The Players attract to him how they
want him to you know to be the head
coach and uh just you know play the
position you know play in this Stadium
um like I said still a family oriented
um organization that means a lot to me
and I think you know every time I’ve
seen coach May he’s been in a a workout
outfit just putting in work he’s still
getting it in so uh that’s just excited
play for him uh like I said player is
coach and and understands that nobody’s
like um you know playing as a patriot
and I think that’s something that you
know you just can’t um you can’t buy
nowadays being in this position
hey Drake welcome to New England um I’m
curious if you can just walk us through
what your day has been like today from
waking up getting in the facility what
you’ve seen and what struck you just
your first time in the stadium yeah um
you know got up this morning um got out
of that hotel room in Detroit um put on
this this fit put on something different
from last night you know try to um put
on something a little different still
including the Carolina blue but uh got
had the rock the Hat all day been
wearing it all day um got in here and um
you know flew in on on uh you know Mr
crafts plane was awesome uh that was a
sweet you know once in a lifetime
experience we came in right over to the
stadium and saw you know to Welcome
Stadium Drake may just uh you know once
in a lifetime deal um so just you know
kind of it’s hard to beat you know this
day you know last night was awesome but
this day is kind of almost trumping it
um so I came in here um first thing I
saw coach mayo and um you know Mr Wolf
and then you know since then been
getting a tour around uh met with you
know coach Vel um you know coach McCarty
and coach madoo and you know from there
just uh just meeting everybody and just
trying to you know show my personality
and just be myself and just show them
you know the three clowns back there
that that were meeting me on social
media that we all love each other and
best friends so and now out here yeah I
got to see you got to meet Mr craft up
there and and um you know his son and
you know from here just you know soaking
it all in this is my first time in here
and uh he went up on the on the on the
light Tower um on the lighthouse and uh
just a sweet you know sweet thing sweet
deal they do up there I’m scared of
heights but it was still pretty cool so
uh Dake to your left right over here um
first off just how how much of a
visualizing guy are you like have you
already kind of visual Iz you know
taking over the stadium and coming out
through the tunnel and then also what
were your initial interactions with Mr
craft like any chance youve told him he
was the best decision or you were the
best decision this organization has ever
made yes sir I think you know first I
think visualization is huge I think
being here being in the stadium I think
you know one of those things you never
forget the first time walking in um and
yeah meet Mr craf he uh you know he the
first thing I said yeah thanks for
trusting me you know believing in me and
um you know you know hopefully I’m not
going to make you regret it so that’s
you know that’s my goal to come here and
work hard and win a lot of FO
games here in the front row again TR
again welcome to New England I know Cam
Newton growing up was your qb1 I know
you got to meet him last night after you
were picked did you get to share any
words of wisdom about what it’s like to
play in New England and be a patriot
yeah yeah Cam Newton did um you know
first thing he says about the fans uh
you know what a great City you know
great Sports Town um great Sports area
here in New England um got the Celtics
you know right over there and the Red
Sox and the Bruins so it’s just a great
you know sports city was the first thing
he said and I said just you know be
yourself andjoy embrace it um Cam Newton
was growing up in Charlotte he was you
know my MVP I think I said that last
night um just a great player had a short
stint here um where he’s making plays so
it was fun to see him do that but uh
just glad I got to you know meet one of
my aidol growing up and uh you know Shar
and ask some questions about New
England hi Dr um welcome to New England
I just want I was curious you know
obviously Gerard was here a lot of the
coaches robc were any players here today
and if so who uh when you got here to um
you I I talked to you know David and on
the plane um you know I haven’t seen I
saw um through the locker room but uh I
think all the players are gone so I
haven’t see me players but uh you
looking forward to meeting them um you
know can’t wait to do that and just U
you know try to you know fit right in
and I think I’m I get along with people
pretty easily so I’m looking forward to
that far right Bob s hey Drake last
night Elliot wolf talked about elevating
teammates and also mentioned your
accountability after games in being a
good teammate what did you learn about
those qualities in a quarterback from
your father and his career at North
Carolina no doubt it was huge you know
having a dad that played quarterback you
know in college at a high at a high
level was huge for me um was a big part
of you know why I am today um he’s you
know one of my biggest fans and also one
of my biggest uh critics so it’s it’s
been awesome having him you know right
there in the corner and like I said you
know accountability thing you know as a
quarterback of this football team and uh
you know possibly the face of the
franchise and face of the team you know
everything um you know falls on me and I
got to get the team going um offensively
you know defensively and just come in
and uh you know through work ethic and
um hopefully be the starter um at some
point and just be a leader so I think
you know accountability and hold people
accountable and hold myself accountable
it starts with me U and that’s just kind
of my motto and kind how I approach it I
got to do my part before I start getting
on other people’s
part back Center here Drake welcome to
New England uh we’re obviously happy to
have you um do you have a jersey number
in mind yet you going to keep rocking 10
or are you open to switching it up yeah
I think I’m going to stay with 10 um you
as long as it ain’t 12 uh fill those
shoes but uh I think I’m going to stay
with 10 uh that’s just the number that
you I wore in high school in college and
I just keep it the
same to the far right hey Dr over here
uh for those who don’t know you uh what
What’s one thing you’d like to show to
the Patriots organization and fans and
what are you looking to prove about
yourself now that you’re in the
NFL um yeah I think the one thing
looking show is just a just a grinder um
who was going to you know put the work
in uh I think you know the only thing
I’m looking forward to show that you
know the patri organization just that
love football um the sport you know I
don’t do it anything else besides
winning and hate losing I think you know
me and my brothers we did that growing
up uh no matter anything keeping scores
didn’t want to lose and have had the
bragging rights um so I’m looking
forward to showing that and um I think
it f right in in this
organization Mike on on your right hey
Drake um I I I think I heard you mention
David Andrews was on the private jet how
did that happen and what was it like
sort of bonding with the center yeah it
was a FaceTime it was a FaceTime call um
but no I got to meet him here on my 30
visit um I think you know the center and
offensive line U for a quarterback is
huge um so getting to meet some of those
guys I know Conor mcder well um so can
me meet some of those guys and um you
know kind of get build those
relationships you know as as I can um is
huge and just huge for just me and get
to know some of the guys you know know
their names and know about you know
their backgrounds and and create you
know a genuine relationship on your far
left again take a couple more questions
guys hey Drake uh congratulations you
mentioned d David Andrews FaceTime you
met Cam Newton in the last you know 12
hours has anybody like surprising
reached out to you anybody that it was
like a cool wow moment that reached out
to you yeah you know I hav even uh you
got back to my text messages it’s been
such a whirlwind I think I got before
drafting I usually keep my messages um
you know either one or you know below
try to you look at them all and I think
got 250 or 300 right now and I got to
get back to them sorry for those who I
got back to but uh know I looking
forward to seeing who reaches out um I
think it’s a pretty cool I think one of
the first thing is you know KY Dugger
wanted to reach out is U you know what
Chris told me on the team um that’s
that’s pretty special these players want
to already start reaching out and like I
said talking to David on FaceTime just
just means a lot to me you know coming
in as a new guy and uh you know trying
to acclimate myself Chris price on the
far right Drake I know you said last
night you had a chance to connect with
Jobe brassette already where do you see
your spot when you you look at the
quarterback depth chart here in New
England do you feel like you’re ready to
step in immediately where do you think
you are in terms of the transition oh
I’m not going to I you know say all that
I think you know big thing is is coming
toobe um just kind of learn from him um
obious I’m prepare like him I’m uh you
know ready to be the starter prepare
like it work like it um and then I up to
the coaches um you know I think it’s the
biggest thing is just for me to show in
you know fit in with the group fit in
with the quarterback room and uh just
you know show off my skill set and I’m
ready for know take on anything a couple
more here Ian on the far right Dr CR
here uh how do you build relationships
with your teammates with your receivers
what are some things that you do on the
the field in the facility and maybe away
from the field yeah um you know I think
the biggest thing for me is uh you know
getting outside of football you know
doing things outside of football where
it’s you know going to play golf taking
him out to eat um you know I’m a big
video gamer so guys play video games
I’ll be on um I’m not doing football I’m
playing video games um so I think you
know stuff like that little things like
that and uh you know even just you know
sitting down with them at lunch little
things uh just ask them questions and
not sitting with the quarterbacks all
the time or the coaches you know sit
with different people and get to know
them and uh just like I said it’s things
that that come from the heart and um and
my brothers teased me that you know I
think um that I think I’m a good Gift
Giver myself so just giving some of the
guys and and sharing some of the
opportunities I may have as a
quarterback uh in this position to share
my platform um use this city this great
city um in that
aspect anything else guys I think we’re
going to have the the family come on up
take take some pictures come on yeah
come on got three stoes coming up

cles overrated whatever it is

get yes on start with with the oldest
Luke um you know Luke’s my oldest
brother uh he plays basketball overseas
in Japan um you know he’s kind of you
know one of my role models looking up
you know looking up to when I was early
on in sports um he’s been he’s been
great and so supportive uh he flew back
from Japan on Wednesday uh for the draft
uh just shows even you know missed one
of his games uh he put that you know in
his contract to playing overseas that he
wanted to be here that’s just family
that’s what we are that’s what the Maze
and then um you here here’s Cole um
Cole’s you know the jokester U I think
you know me and him go out it back and
forth with the jokes he played you know
baseball at Florida won naal
Championship here so these two got the
national championship rings at Trump uh
they still Trump the first round draft
choice and then B on the end you know
friend bo uh he lives with me at North
Carolina he lived with me he was on the
basketball team and just a bunch of
athletes up here and can’t forget my
longtime girlfriend we’ve dating since
seventh grade Y and Michael over here so
uh this is my squad and you’re getting
me you’re getting them so that’s about
all I
