Zac Blair and Patrick Fishburn surge in Round 3 of Zurich Classic | Golf Central | Golf Channel

golf Central on YouTube is brought to
you by the new Chrome tour golf ball
from
Callaway I am Matt Adams alongside of
trip Eisenhower and we are recapping the
third round of the Zurich Classic of New
Orleans let’s jump right into it with
the team of Lori marroy and Shane Lowry
they came into the day leading the way
but it was a slow start here’s Rory at
the par
39 yeah par 39 difficult in fact the
hardest hole in round number three but
not hard for world number two and that
was kind of a momentum changer after not
buring the eight carried some momentum
into the back nine no doubt about that
that would get them the 16 under let’s
see if that momentum continues in the
very next
hole and Rory said lucky to find his
drive there they didn’t think it was
going to be in this spot and when they
found it he was happy and so with Shane
Lowry look Shane says yeah good shot
buddy because that gets them to 17 under
at the par 5 11 third
shot look at how wide he was in that
back swing able to stay keep the width
in therefore very shallow and just nip
that in there and Bird’s important on
the par five to 18 under the momentum
continues Rory maroy now at 13 with his
approach same technique beautiful drive
for Rory maoy no surprise to see him up
around a hole that’s only about 380 90
yards and another birdie for Team mroy
Lowry now 1900 can you hear him coming
mroy at 15 for
birdie this is why golf’s a four-letter
word sometimes you do everything you can
and they just don’t go in all right they
stay at 19 under Shane Lowry at the par
4
16 okay it’s called ham and egg for a
reason Rory’s been ham and Lowry’s been
mostly egg this a lot of egg on it right
right here big mistake laying up in the
water all right so Rory maroy lays up
nicely as as Shane wanders off in the
distance so it leaves Rory with wedge in
hand and he’s been doing well with this
club yeah he well this isn’t his best
but Shane didn’t run away he just went
to the restroom he came back okay to
watch Rory hit it here and you can see
Rory a little frustrated that that ball
was over there to the right Shane’s back
and uh keeping the egg part going
because this for par and yeah bogey at
16 so we’ve gone from egg let’s see ham
and Rory
mroy is in full we’re going to go
country ham because we’re in Louisiana
country ham mode Bingo for Rory maroy
that would get them the 20 under and
they spoke about how big a putt that one
was all right Shane Lowry show us
something here at the 17 yes sir well he
comes back he comes back Shane Lowry
great Champion former Champion golf for
of the year for a reason he can hit
shots like that straight into the wi
beautiful flighted shot and a chance at
burd Rory liked it welcome back
partner but the problem is hadn’t played
here enough to know that the effect of
the Grain and the slope on that putt you
just got to get that about two and 1/2
cups out to the right frustrating three
at the 17 so they stay at 20 under Rory
maroy from the bunker rate 18 watch
this yeah and this I had a look at Eagle
but how about Rory bured seven of his
last 10 holes that’s pretty
exceptional a fist pump after that let’s
take a look at their scorecard and see
the circles of the day you can see the
slow start on the front side with a lot
of cars but still an eight under 64 when
it was all said and done sees them only
two shots a
drift all right what about our
leaders Zack Blair and Patrick
Fishburn we picked them up here Fishburn
at the par 410 for
birdie well luckily the hole gets in the
way here he stretched that hole out a
little bit made it a little bigger for
everybody else but uh yeah nice birdie
there he’s on a roll they are 19 under a
roll indeed rolling this from from just
off the green at
11 yeah and again so much power for the
rookie played nicely last week in punana
so used to windy conditions they are now
20 under we move forward they’re 21
under par as he hits his t- shot at the
14th well this one never left the flag
great set of par 3es here and probably
the 14th one of the easier of the par
3es but it’s never easy to make a two at
TPC Louisiana they would walk off that
green at 22 under par we stay with
Fishburn at the 15th this is for
birdie well only four birdies all day
this was one of the most difficult holes
but there you can see one of the
four that gets them to 23 under par
they’re pouring in like a fine wine fish
burnt at the par 31
17th well he took a break he wanted to
wake his partner up so how do you do
that well you hit it right at him after
hitting the water so you wake him up a
little bit get going
partner Zack Blair would save par there
they would remain at 23 under and at 18
this is Blair for a piece of
History well see he woke him up but not
quite enough maybe he needed to hit him
but beautiful round for these two very
steady play out of Blair and flashy play
out of fishbird and that’s what you need
in best ball there’s no doubt about that
they went out in 29 look at what they
shot a 60 today that last putt that just
grazed The Edge was for a 59 so 23 under
a top the leaderboard they have a one-
shot lead what are their thoughts Steve
Bowski was there to take it
in Saturday 604 Zach and Patrick on the
day where you’ve got to make up some
ground how were you able to uh come
right out of the gates quickly and
seemingly never stop yeah I just kind of
watched him he you know he he was after
it all day kind of got off to that hot
start birdie and and Eagan you know
birdie won eagle two birdie four and
five and you know was kind of Off to the
Races after that so it was fun to watch
when did you get a sense of momentum
building and and you guys have something
uh special in the
works uh yeah probably from the
beginning yeah we got off to a nice
start and you know Zach had a sweet
little shot on uh eight hit it to inches
to kind of keep the momentum going for
the front side and then we just kind of
kept it kept it going the back and no it
was it was some of the most fun I’ve had
on the course in a long time you guys
know each other well from College from
high school why is this partnership
clicking in year one and Junior High
yeah yeah we you know we’ve been around
each other a long time and um played a
lot of golf together and you know I knew
our games are really different but I I
think we’ve had success together I think
uh really leaning back on that Pocatello
four ball we won and we take a home in
high school yeah yeah so I mean he’s
just he’s just easy to be around you
know positive good at everything and you
know it’s been fun fun to be a part of
it and how does that relationship maybe
give you a a feeling of ease and comfort
out there oh yeah I mean a lot of ease a
lot of comfort um you know as a rookie
you know you you’re trying to find your
footing and this the timing of this
event has come perfect for me to be able
to play play here with Zach and you know
have a loose relaxed um environment out
there and yeah we we’ve played so much
golf together it just feels like around
at uh Toad’s National or Ben lman our
high school our high school golf course
so no it’s been a lot of fun tomorrow
provides a huge opportunity for both of
you how do you guys keep the momentum
going just kind of do the same thing you
know we’ve stayed uh really loose just
trying to have fun and it’s a tough
format uh just got to stay positive keep
doing the same stuff and you know
hopefully we have our best day
tomorrow we will have golf for you
tomorrow on Sunday from stem to stern
