Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks are back with a new episode of Move the Sticks.
01:46 – To start off, the guys discuss how they see the top of the draft playing out.
11:34 – Next, the duo do a segment called “hits and misses” with a focus on the 2020 NFL Draft, where DJ discusses picks he hit on and missed on in this draft class and Bucky tries to guess who the players are.
18:12 – After that, Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton joins the show ahead of the draft to discuss what he has learned from the draft process, the success of Duke football, a player he models his game after, and much more.
31:15 – To wrap up the show, the pair touch on if there’s anything crazy they anticipate happening on draft night.

what’s up everybody Welcome to move the
sticks DJ Bucky with you uh Buck I’m in
Detroit uh it is uh it’s nice but like a
little brisk I probably should have
looked at the weather report maybe
packed a couple sweatshirts why why why
why would we do that like we have a bag
that stays packed like we just grab it
you probably needed uh well yeah one two
three three days on set so that’s three
suits for sure maybe an additional one
just in case so maybe four suits um some
Lulu lemon pants some Nike stuff and
then and then we’re out that’s pretty
much that’s pretty much it that’s pretty
much it but I don’t have like the
walking a couple blocks to dinner uh
setup you know like I needed a little
more more bundle more
Bund don’t have that um and it’s not
like it’s not like it’s 10 degrees it’s
like you know 40 degrees at night you
know but you know well look we’ve all
been we’ve been made soft from our time
you know as West coasters so it is what
it is
um how you been man what’s going
[Laughter]
on uh not too much man I am in the midst
of doing this final mock draft
which um is obviously DJ one of my
favorite things that we do just mocking
mocking mocking mocking uh I got a
couple names to kind throw in there and
kind of change some stuff up but you
don’t want to change up too much stuff
because then you get
ber but Buck we’ve got uh we’ve got grah
Barton uh coming on we’re gon get a
chance to visit with him G be a first
round pick out of Duke played left
tackle he’s played center so we’ll we’ll
hit him up on what he’s hearing what
it’s like for a player coming down the
home stretch here which I think is
always fascinating but I thought more
than anything else um we just kind of go
through uh spin through the top of this
thing uh of how we see this thing
shaking out and I’ll I’ll I’ll tell you
where I am at the very top one two three
I think we get three quarterbacks and
I’m everything I’m hearing last minute
is like I don’t think we’re going to get
a trade man I I think it’s going to be
Caleb it’s going to be Jaden it’s going
to be Drake and then there’s no trades
there one through three you know I I I
kind of think it’s coming off like
unlike most years where we talk about
like the wild chaotic nature of the
draft I don’t think it’s going to be
that I think it’s really really hard to
do business like that because if you’re
the I mean the only the first move that
I could see would be the Cardinals at
four but if you’re the Cardinals at four
someone’s gonna have to make a crazy
deal and do you view the fourth
quarterback as worthy of being a top
five pick in the hall that you have to
give up to get there I think that’s
tough and the only team that can pull it
off in my mind is the Minnesota Vikings
giv their two first round picks but I
don’t know DJ I don’t think it’s gonna
be the ww west like we’ve talked about
like the weeks leading up to this week
now that we’re officially in draft week
I just look at it from like a New
England standpoint I think that there’s
teams that are comfortable with any of
the top three quarterbacks and I don’t
know if that’s you know the Giants
that’s Minnesota but I think there would
be a team willing to make the trade
right now of like hey even though we
don’t have a lock in at two we assume
it’s Jaden Daniels but there’s teams
that would be comfortable and they would
they would make that move now the fact
that New England hasn’t done anything I
don’t see to me and I think uh rport uh
said this when we were talking earlier
which was usually you don’t get cute uh
when you’re on a quarterback you know no
so if you’re on a quarterback you just
we’re going to ride it through we’re
going to stick and pick you don’t get
too cute trying to maneuver around the
board then come back up or like
different theories of that that doesn’t
usually happen so usually you identify
who you want you tune tune out the rest
of the noise you don’t trade you stick
and pick so if that’s the case and we
get those three quarterbacks then it
becomes Arizona at four the Chargers at
five the Giants at six and then you have
the JJ McCarthy discussion that comes
into play and look the I could make a
case of any team that wanted to get cute
the only team that the team that makes
the most sense to get cute is Arizona
they’ve already got their quarterback so
even like worst case scenario they tried
to do the trade down trade back up and
they got stuck like you still at least
you didn’t you didn’t miss out like you
can’t take a chance of miss out on a
quarterback if you don’t have a
quarterback which they wouldn’t so I
think they could get but everything that
I hear just in the in the coming down
the home stretch is like they might just
sit there and take the receiver at four
and not and not move at
all well I think that’s a pretty wise
move if they take the receiver at four
uh obviously you made the commitment to
KY Murray why not get him the best
player that you can get him and if they
see that’s Marvin Harrison junior or
leag neighbors are whoever but to me
when I look at Marvin Harrison Jr it
reminds me a lot of Larry Fitzgerald in
terms of just like Rock Solid across the
board you know exactly what you’re
getting um and he’s gonna be the number
one receiver that they haven’t really
had since kyum Murray has been there a
true number one I know people are talk
about DeAndre Hopkins and those things
but I’m talking about a young Dynamic
number one that has the speed to
threaten you down the field but also
being able to do all the Dirty Work KY
Murray’s never played with that guy so I
think it would be a nice addition if
you’re can go in with him you got to go
all the way in with them so it makes
sense to me so then that gets you to uh
now we get to the fifth pick and I do
think like of all the teams I can make
the strongest argument for the Chargers
to want to trade out of anybody so I
know Joe Ortiz came out in the press
conference and said I’m gonna have to be
blown away it’s got to be this
unbelievable tradeoffer and my comment
to that is well what’s he supposed to
say hey I’ll take 60 cents on the dollar
over here just give me whatever you can
and I’ll take it like uh so I you know I
think if there I think there’s a fair
offer to be made I don’t think that the
I don’t think the Minnesota Vikings want
to leave this draft without a
quarterback and whether people can argue
they’re you know they love the top three
guys and maybe they are just talking
themselves into JJ McCarthy and people
can disagree with whether that’s a smart
thing or or a dumb thing to do I get the
sense that they don’t don’t want to
leave this draft without a quarterback
so then it becomes are you comfortable
saying we’re hang at 11 and if somehow
McCarthy’s gone then we’ll take you know
can we take pennx with the you know 11th
pick or do we sit and just wait if we
get McCarthy whatever happy but I just I
can’t Envision that they made this move
to get these two first round picks and
they’re going to leave the first round
without a
quarterback so my thing would be this DJ
um what’s the difference between JJ
McCarthy and Bo Knicks like how big of a
gap is there between the two because
that would be part of the conversation
how big is the gap between JJ McCarthy
and Michael pennic because if you view
those guys where we talk about cluster
Buster if you see them in a cluster then
you feel comfortable that it doesn’t
matter where we are we’ll set at 11
we’ll take the quarterback that we want
and we’re not worried about it and we’ll
say that all the grades were the same
and you just pick the player um that
takes the pressure off but if there’s a
huge difference between JJ McCarthy and
penck and Knicks then it becomes a
little more pressing when you get to
eight and nine hey let me make sure I
get up to get my deal and and let’s say
this uh the Zach Wilson deal just came
down Zack Wilson going to the Denver
Broncos that takes some of the pressure
off of the Broncos to have to make a
move which should take some of the
pressure off the Vikings to make sure
that they box out Shawn Peyton from
jumping up and taking one of those
quarterbacks yeah because as we’re
talking about the Vikings Shawn Peyton
had to make that move
by comparing Zack Wilson to JJ McCarthy
Zack Wilson to Bo Knicks Zack Wilson to
Michael penck do I feel comfortable with
that or do I feel like it’s a better a
huger difference the quarterbacks in
2024 than what Zack Wilson could be
under his tutelage so what I would be
writing up on the Whiteboard if I were
um if I were in Minnesota would not only
be comparing them to those other you
know to those other quarterbacks right
if you’re Minnesota and you’re look at
you know that cluster of quarterbacks
you just mentioned you have to ask
yourself this okay say say they feel
like JJ McCarthy is better they have JJ
McCarthy is rated higher than penck and
Nicks Nicks and penck whatever order you
want to put it those those are the three
but JJ’s at the top you’re not comparing
him to those guys you’re comparing JJ
McCarthy against Michael Pennock plus
the 23rd pick let’s say it’s chop
Robinson plus next year’s first round
pick who’s going to be another good
player for us so JJ McCarthy doesn’t
have to be better than he’s got to be
better than those guys plus the other
picks that you might have to trade to go
up to get JJ McCarthy that’s a lot and
that is a that is a lot when we’re we’re
to it and what I love about the draft is
it always ends up coming full circle
right yeah like we have these arcs
particularly on outside of the business
it’s a story arc
right starts out slow then we got to
build up to the crescendo then we go
right back to what we thought originally
early in the
process many of us did not view JJ
McCarthy as a top five Talent we’ve
talked ourselves into well maybe JJ
McCarthy goes in the top five whatever
and I’m not saying maybe he does but I
think what we’re getting as we do more
more
conversations we’re now kind of coming
back to like hold on let’s have a real
conversation about what it is that we
would have to give up to get and what
are we getting while losing the
opportunity to add more pieces around
him is all of that worth it because if
we talk about JJ McCarthy and not
disparaging JJ McCarthy but I think we
would say that JJ McCarthy’s not gonna
come in and revolutionize the position
by himself he’s going to need assistance
Playmakers on the outside well if we rob
our team of the ability to do that how
good is he really gonna be without those
other assets I think that has to be a
part of the equation yeah and I think to
me I don’t know and we got to sort all
this out we put turn in our final mock
drafts but like you just having this
conversation I could get to the point if
I was Minnesota to be like we’re
comfortable we’ll stay here if he’s here
we’ll pick him if he’s here at 11 we’ll
pick him but I would also say this as it
pertains to the top of the draft if I’m
the Jets
Buck even if I’m bluffing I’m I sitting
at 10 if JJ McCarthy gets to 10 right I
am calling Minnesota I’m calling Denver
and I’m calling the Raiders and saying
hey I’ve got I’ve got one of these other
quarterback teams in your neighborhood
that wants this pick so if you want them
you got to come get them and then maybe
you could finesse even if you just
finesse
third round pick out of somebody you get
you might be able to get a free pick and
just move back a spot or two yeah I
think I think you have to put the the
full the four court press on because
you’re trying to squeeze them as much as
you can out of that additional pick
because it would be a little sugar at
the end an additional pick at the bottom
of the draft um for moving up because
you want to make sure that they should
want to make sure that they secure their
guy um there is something there is
something to that but I think that
conversation is interesting I think the
debate between those different tiers and
clusters I think it’s a real one and you
know I know we’ve talked it started out
as the big three then it became the big
four with JJ McCarthy a lot of it would
be what is the league wise sentiment on
who the fourth quarterback is and how
close is the fourth quarterback to
quarterbacks five and six all right uh I
want to we’re g to continue on this
draft discussion but first of all uh
want to go back to see if we can learn a
lesson uh from the past about the future
because we haven’t done this in a while
um we’re going to do uh hits and misses
this is hits and misses presented by
Irish Spring awaken your senses with
Irish Spring body wash and bar soap uh I
want to go buck I’m gonna go on the way
back machine to the 2020 draft I’m gonna
read you some notes on a receiver that
ended up being ended up being a bust I
believe he ended up going in the second
round yes he was the he ended up going
in the early 40s in the 2020 draft I
said uh this uh player is a wide
receiver SLS slot SL some Wildcat fly
sweeps he’s competitive he’s a he’s a
football player I love the toughness he
just doesn’t have any route polish he
ran he was 605 227 he ran 458 and he did
not he has not ended up being a uh a
very good player so there’s I’m G see if
you can figure out who that is and then
uh we’ll talk about the lesson that you
can take over this was a Miss for me
because I had him rated as my he was my
36th player went 42 and has not lived up
to either one of those spots well you
named all the spots but I I I didn’t
look at all that I was just guessing
maybe Lisa Chanel maybe that’s Lisa
Chanel that’s Lisa Chanel so there’s the
Miss uh as we do hits and misses but the
Miss Buck isn’t it interesting like when
you go through and find some of these
receivers when you see the words either
stiffness or lack of Route polish you
should run for the hills
man it it it is so funny because we
talked about the Craftsman being the
guys that have been able to last stand
the test of time and as much as we like
and this is the thing to divide that
sometimes you have between Scouts and
coaches as much as Scouts love certain
things about versatility and wow can he
did all this or whatever I’m believing
coaches have a tougher time taking all
of those utility traits and putting them
into a game plan and lisus Chanel was a
guy that dominated the game out while
when we watched him at Colorado I mean
like it was hard to Envision this guy
failing because he was so physical so
tough so productive and yet in the
league two spots he hasn’t been able to
really carve out a roll so uh maybe
there’s
something do uh I might like just the
the look not the Jack of all trades
master none just give me the one guy
that I know one role that you can play
in and you can excel at all right I’ll
give you a hit here real quick and uh
this is a defensive tackle and I want to
talk about the differences in those two
positions in the traits so this is a
defensive tackle buck is uh he was 6025
293 with a
48340 uh he was my 45th player he ended
up being the 71st player pick and he got
a lot of money in his off season um
strong versatile he can play every
defensive line spot he’s best at the
three technique has big- time knockback
he’s got strong hands he plays with
effort he just needs a rush plan so that
was for a defensive tackle ended up
being a huge hit in that uh in that
draft m
I see the thing is not fair because I
just did a Google but I will let you
reveal who the Baltimore Ravens selected
with that pick yep that was Justin matab
and uh and that ended up being a good
hit for me because I had him at at
whatever it was 45 he went 71 he
truthfully is should be you could say
it’s a Miss because I should had him as
a top 20 player but he’s uh that’s one
at that position where twitch explosion
knockback that’s the starting point like
if you have those things okay we can
work on hands we can work on some some
some inside Rush stuff but like in a in
a league where you’re trying to find
inside rushers sometimes you’re not
going to get that inside the Polish you
might get with an edge rusher the inside
gu is more just kind of about twitch and
and knockback and then we can work the
rest yeah you know like here’s the thing
about metab bu when you when when you go
and you look I was sitting there looking
and I was just thinking like man what
could
um what could we do if we are are are
sitting here just trying to to figure
out and
and like players in a position we always
talk about fit and scheme and we always
talk about developmental potential and
then it’s about okay do we have the
coaches that can take our player and
take him from one level to the next
level so in M we I remember looking at
him at Texas A&M and seeing the flashes
but not necessarily knowing if he would
be able to replicate those flashes
consistently in Baltimore he was able to
get into a system where Mike McDonald
really put him in a situation where he
could flourish didn’t ask him to do a
whole bunch of different things kind of
Tor tailored the scheme to his talents
and it worked out I wonder how many
times we miss on players because we
either have coaches staffs that like the
creativity or unwilling to someone who
has a certain specific set of uh skills
and just en enhance those things by
asking them just to do those things over
and over again basically basically put
them in a role that allows them to
flourish as opposed to asking them to do
a whole bunch of stuff that maybe
they’re not great at and I was looking
through notes on looking through notes
on players in this year’s draft and
Brandon dorles uh from Oregon reads
similarly to matab so if you’re saying
who’s somebody and I think he’s in my
60s where I have him he’s my 65th player
um so kind of in that same type of range
so if you’re looking to try and hit on a
d tackle with some some knockback and
some juice and some explosion who’s
played different areas who I think they
both ran darn near identical 40 times uh
that would be interesting parison uh by
the way I’ll wrap that one up that was
brought to you by Irish Spring awaken
your senses with Irish Spring body wash
and bar soap haven’t played hits and
misses in a long time so uh I know the
draft right around the corner but I
thought sometimes you can uh look to the
past to see if you can’t help yourself a
little bit with what’s going on right
now no and I think it’s always good to
go back and and and look at where we hit
where we miss see if we can learn from
those failures and successes see if
their traits they carry over um and I
think there are some you pointed out
lisus Chanel and wide receivers and
we’ve had this theme where we talked
about it’s hard for guys that are out
Runners to succeed at wide out and our
league over the long term and then when
you think about M bu and the
explosiveness and the burst and the
hands or knockback power that you
alluded to those guys on the interior
that show those traits they tend to
succeed in this leag no question um all
right we’re gonna take a quick break we
come back we’re GNA be joined by Gram
Barton first round pick uh without a
doubt coming up here on Thursday night
and uh one of the more versatile players
speaking of vertily on the entire draft
Fest we’ll get to that interview right
after this all right Buck he’s here
excited to have Graham join us first of
all Graham what uh give me the plans
Thursday night where you gonna be what
you doing uh yeah I’m just gonna be at
home in in Nashville um gonna you know
few buddies are coming down probably
gonna play some golf that afternoon just
yeah keep the keep the mind at ease
enjoy some family and friends and then
you know see what happens but pretty uh
pretty lowkey night nice you know your
Grant what has the process been like for
you like combine pro days or whatever
what have you learned about yourself
throughout this process yeah I mean uh
it’s been a it’s been a really busy
process you know obviously fortunate to
be in that situation you know where it
is uh busy um no doubt but you know just
you know I think you know just a
testament to to who I am I think you
know I prepared really well for this
process um kind of went in allowed to
just you know be free in this process
just you know with my preparation
knowing you know what I needed to know
knowing my stuff you know and and just
you know doing well in the you know the
board work and the interviews and and on
the field stuff you know preparing you
know each and every day for that and
kind of you know being ready for that
stuff so when you know the time did come
to prepare you know I you know I was
able to kind of just you know be free
and you know use my knowledge and and
you know kind of what um I know about
football and and you know as far as
onfield stuff like athletically just you
know being able to handle all that stuff
and perform well I think um that was
kind of you know the the trick of the
process just be prepared for everything
and and you know along the way you
you’re you’re going to be evaluated and
everything so you know just being
prepared for everything and and you know
trying to do well with all that I know
you knocked the uh the prod day out
because I had a bunch of calls right
after it was over about how well you did
but on and you acce that part of it but
how exciting is it once you finish and I
know you probably some privates and
other things but how how relieving was
it to be like you’re done with all this
crap and now it’s like just you get to
play football now like now the football
starts and the fun stuff yeah yeah like
I had these uh like skill cleats like
these pink
and with for some of this stuff and like
the right after prod day I just like
tossed them I was like not gonna need
those anymore never gonna need these
again so like that was kind of like my
little moment of like all right done
with you know 40 three cone 5105 like
obviously all that’s important so you
know you got to prepare for it do well
but um you know it was nice to just you
know focus on football now um you know
use that time to just you know you know
do offensive line drills and stuff like
that um and so it’s been awesome to just
be able to focus back on football and
and uh you know doing what I need to do
to be ready for next
season you guys had some success at Duke
and I know in talking to Scouts Scouts
love guys that have been part of winning
programs and those things what can you
take from your time at Duke that will
help you succeed in a National Football
League yeah I I mean I learned a lot at
Duke right it was you know such an
awesome experience we just had such a
great you know coaching staff in locker
room my last two years and it was just a
really good experience to kind of go
from that you know two and n and three
and nine record to you know nine and
four eight and five and kind of see that
that turnaround and be a part of that
you know like that you know it’s hard
that that’s not an easy turnaround uh
for any you know culture Across America
um it takes you know so much hard work
and so much detail and so much effort
and you know just on a day-to-day basis
from everyone you know from the top down
so I think you know just seeing kind of
what that took and and being a part of
that and you know okay this is what hard
work looks like this is what you know
showing up every day and bringing your
best looks like this is what you know a
good culture and player Le locker room
looks like um you know I think you know
getting those kind of experiences in
college is is pretty invaluable and you
it’s excited to you know you know
have like know what I know and and be
able to share that with others and you
know earn the respect of of the vets
around me you know because obviously you
know starting young again and you know
I’m a rookie and um you know you got to
earn the respect of the guys around you
and I think I kind of you know coming
from duke have all the tools to to do
that so so you mentioned we talk about
leadership and how you come in there you
listen before you speak and then you
obviously you got D you’re 17 years old
right as a freshman you’re just a you’re
I just turned 18 turned 18 okay fresh 18
but yes a young a young 18 U but one of
the things that I one of the things that
I’ve heard about you obviously we can
see the tape but then you know just from
a leadership standpoint it stood out I
would love if you could just give me an
example especially with teams you know
look you can play you got five position
flexibility some teams are going to want
you to play center others tackle you can
play Anywhere But if if you do if you
are a center that’s we always talk about
the closer you get to the middle of the
field the more leadership is required
it’s the spine of your team it’s it’s a
leadership position so is there any is
you give me an example a your your kind
of your style of leadership and then B
is there a story maybe from the last
year or two uh that would be a good
example of what that looked like yeah
yeah so I mean I think um you know
people ask me about my leadership style
I always refer a quote I heard once it’s
like true leaders you know they don’t
talk the talk they walk the walk like
true leaders show up every day they’re
about their business they have a process
they they do the work they put in the
time like they you know they really
really care about their craft and I
think that’s something I just took and
was like you know that’s me that’s who I
want to be that’s the kind of leader I
want to be um so you know I’m not the
guy that gives the pregame speech you
know I’m not the guy who’s gonna you
know get the the the movie scen and um
you know about the you know have
everyone in tears before the game like
that’s just
not that’s not who I am so you know I
just I I I think I find other ways to
lead and I think I lead by example I
think you know young guys you know they
they take influence from me in different
you know just little habits that they
pick up on me and and I think you know
good example I can give you um so like
Fridays before games are are no sweat
walkthroughs um you’re in shorts and a
t-shirt and tennis shoes and you know
you’re on you’re on air and you’re
walking through the plays well like you
know I kind of said screw that like you
know first two steps are live you know
I’m coming at that back full speed so
it’s like like just you know day before
the game like go through the motions
like make sure you have down like okay
here you know this is you know backside
inside zone I’m in a you know combo
block here here’s my first and second
steps you to look like here’s where my
hat goes here’s where my hand goes like
going through all that not just walking
through so it’s like by the end of
Friday like it’s not no sweat you know
you’re I think you know it’s like the
beginning of the year it might have been
me and you know maybe one other guy and
then I think by the end of the year you
know you you got you know seven or eight
linemen in a full sweat on Friday you
know going through the first you know
taking the time and you know seeing the
young guys on you know out down in
second team you know they’re in a full
sweat Now by week eight or week nine and
just like you know seeing guys like pick
up on things you do like little things
you do every week to get yourself ready
I think that’s kind of you know my
leadership style it’s more by you know
example than as opposed to you know
being the vocal um you know big Rah ra
locker room guy um I think that’s sort
of sort of Glimpse it in my leadership
style I like it you know Graham when
when you been able to play so many
different positions who’s someone that
you could possibly pattern your game
after because there not many guys in the
pros that kind of bounce up and down the
line so who would you mod your game
after yeah like especially you know
younger going from when I was balancing
out to left tackle I watched a lot of
David bakari I just think you know
similar measurables um similar play
style like like he’s not a guy who wins
because he’s 68 with with 38 inch arms
you know he’s he’s 64 315 um you know
similar builds and I think similar kind
of you know play style like he’s a
really athletic offensive linan like you
go back and watch him he’s first one off
the snap you know he he’s going out he’s
matching guys foot to foot um you know
he he challenges their angles of of
their rush I think that was someone I
watched you know you know as one you
know all all my college career really
and just taking a lot of influence from
him because you know that was sort of my
you know style it’s just a different
game it’s different when you’re you know
68 you know you’ve got 37 38 inch arms
then when you’re 65 with 33 it’s just
you know it’s just a it’s not that it’s
easier or harder it’s just different
you’ve got to approach it differently
and so I think you know he’s someone I
watched a lot and took some influence
from and um you know tried to you know
replicate the things that I liked about
his game and mine and I think you know
so just you know the past couple years
that’s someone I’ve definitely studied a
that’s good stuff man the last one I
have for you and literally the most
important question that you’re going to
have have to answer Cameron indor
overrated underrated uh what do you got
for me on that I think it’s rated
perfectly
um Bucky’s a tarheel so I’m just I’m
just I’m just letting you know on that
front man no it’s it’s a cool Arena and
I think what’s so awesome about it and
just makes it unique is you know you’re
not getting more than 8,000 people in
there you know as where you see these
big modern Arenas and there’s you know
20,000 people in there but like it’s
8,000 that’s what makes it kind of
exclusive that’s what kind of makes it
so hard to get into that’s what makes
theand so high to get into games I how
many games did you get to in your time
there like how many how many times Could
you actually get in I think I I think I
went to three um your whole College time
there your
time I should have gone it’s really
sweaty in it’s really sweaty in there D
It’s kind of sweaty it’s musty it’s it’s
it’s a different deal It’s a Grind It’s
a Grind
like you got yeah wear an a little bit
extra deodorant uh going well then
everybody says that like you know Duke
basketball player has a certain
reputation so like you’re playing pickup
or you’re playing high school basketball
whatever you’re doing were you a slap
the floor guy yeah
yeah Duke I knew it I knew it I knew
not I’m not putting up a lot of points
but like I’m we’re getting down our St
rebounds you know team Le rebounds you
know I’m going straight up every time
I’m challenging shots like I’m the ball
around working from the high post like
yeah that was that was my influence on
the basketball for perect you’re the
perfect guy that DJ would want because
he wants to have two high Pickers right
at the top of the elbows so he can shoot
you would be a screener give me two post
pick and roll is my game yeah well
you’ll roll you’ll roll the first four
times you do it and then you realize
that pass his
coming not looking at me at
all don’t worry most of the time growing
up they didn’t look at me anyways
I that’s fantastic dude are you going to
be able to keep it together when you get
that phone call or you I mean what what
would the emotions be like have you
allowed yourself to go there yeah I
think I’ve allowed myself to go there
like since I was nine or 10 years old to
be honest with you um and I just get
this like wave of of goosebumps every
time you even kind of Envision that
moment just because you’ve been you know
dreaming of it for so long um I don’t
know I’ll have some friends and and
family around me so I don’t know if I’ll
I’ll cry like I might you know just you
know bury it but I don’t know I don’t
think I’ve really experienced anything
like that yet so I can’t tell you I
could be a mess I could just bottle it
up and then go cry in my room later I
don’t know but pretty un I I can just I
can just say it to you this way the
intentions are one thing my my my uh my
daughter got married a few months ago my
oldest got married I thought I would be
fine there’s no I’m not going I Cryer
I’m not GNA cry turn around the first
time I saw her I feel like I cried for
like the whole the whole the whole thing
so you know yeah you never know you
don’t know is what I’m getting I know I
know hey grah man we uh we appreciate
taking a little time as we’re uh we’re
getting right on the doorstep of this
draft it’s a huge moment for you man
congrats on on all the work that got you
to this place man we’ll be rooting for
you as you as you find out where you go
yeah I appreciate it guys thanks for
having me on H we appreciate uh Grant
Barton joining us but good dude man but
not I me again Duke guys slaping the
floor guaranteed guaranteed that was why
I KN I already knew the answer to the
question before I that was easy that was
easy that was an easy yet I was gonna
ask him too if he’d ever given anybody
stitches on the basketball court I think
we both know the answer to that oh he
looks like a good a nice firm screener
like kind of
maybe yeah kind of box out well you know
if he’s taught right how he turns you
know yeah it’s not it’s an inadvertent
it’s an inadvertent High said hi hey I’m
hey I’m just turning like what yeah
didn’t swing just turning that’s all I
just turning uh uh buck Last Thing uh
before we get out of here anything uh
you think that’s crazy that we might see
here oh man I think the last half of the
first round is gonna be full of
surprises in terms of because they’re
whatever 18 to 20 true first round picks
I think it’s really open in terms of who
kind of falls into the first round who
falls out and those things I’m just
really excited to see uh how it goes
because I think the fun part for me is
not necessarily the the pre-draft part
where we’re talking about them but now
when we see where they go beginning to
project how they will play based on the
system that they’re in yeah no I I I’m
with you I’ve always think that it feels
like with these younger GMS too that
they’re a little they little more
creative and like I didn’t know the
draft in Vegas that we were going to see
AJ Brown and Hollywood Brown got traded
you know so I don’t know I wouldn’t I
don’t know who the veterans are be got a
left field know auk’s one everybody’s
talked about but is there some you know
maybe there’s some other veteran dudes
we’re not we’re not thinking of that
could get moved uh with this thing
cranked up who
knows yeah I think that’s DJ I think
that’s the millionar question like who
is going to be moved because we have all
of these we have a handful of guys have
contract and passes and what does that
lead to and at certain situations people
talk about Brandon iuk and some of these
other guys that could be available uh
it’ll be interested to see how it plays
out yep no doubt all right well uh this
has been a fun one I appreciate you guys
hanging with us in this entire draft
process um we will uh we will have some
more stuff for you as we get to and
through this draft um so stay with us we
appreciate it we’ll see you next time
right here on move the six

  1. PFF rank doesn't match the 1st round hype. Is PFF wrong, or will a team pick him in the 1st for his potential longevity?

  2. It may be the green background on Graham Barton, but when his face first appeared my first thought was Daniel Jeremiah is Bruce Banner and he becomes Graham is when he gets mad.

  3. Food spots to visit > Greektown, Mexican town, find a good Polish restaurant and Rallys for a greasy tasty Buford burger. BTW I never thought Lafeyette chili dog was that good. Daly Drive-In 31500 Plymouth Rd, Livonia, MI 48150 would be my choice for a chili footlong. All of these are moderately priced. There are a number of high-priced places, or you can cross the River to Windsor Canada.

  4. These two are hilarious where did you two smart guys have Brock Purdy, and would either of them have drafted Tom Brady? This should be labeled a comedy show…Here is a reference they both won a national championship in there last year of college ball…

  5. Enjoy my state of Michigan, City of Detroit gentlemen! I am in cra Chicago this weekend, but I send love and prayers for a fantastic Draft experience to Detroit and its guests. I am a Detroit Lions fan, but I am legally separated from The NFL due to its corrupt, cheating ways

Maybe The NFL can redeem itself and bring me back as a viable fan by making sure Detroit shines during Draft weekend and cleaning up cheating??🤔🤔

Good Draft to all teams! Go Detroit with your bad Draft Self🫶🏿
