okay everybody let’s welcome your
Hometown Heroes cam Smith the captain of
Ripper GC and Matt Jones you guys both
had awesome days today cam you shot
Seven under and you’re currently sitting
in fifth place Jonesy you shot four
under you’re currently sitting T9 you
guys tell us a little bit about your day
out there I’ll start with you
cam um yeah it was a good day I think um
I really didn’t do too much different to
what I did yesterday just a few more
puts went in and um played the par FS a
little bit better it was much much more
of the same so um yeah feeling really
comfy around here Jonesy yeah it was a
slow start for me I uh I think I pied my
first seven holes and then I got to 10
and went on a good stretch through there
and uh it was great just disappointing
to bugging my last hole to uh finish it
four under for the day but uh yeah I
think the whole team’s happy where we
are with all the adrenaline pumping I’m
sure out there does it help or does it
make it a little B harder for for you
guys just with the fans out there and it
meaning so much to you guys um yeah I
mean it definitely makes it harder it’s
not making it any easier out there I
think um the support is amazing but um
there’s there’s a lot going through your
mind at every second of the day and it’s
um it’s it’s very tiring um so yeah it’s
uh it’s it’s kind of it’s a it’s a good
and a bad thing at the same time and
Matt how do you feel about having that
incredible support around you they’ve
been unbelievable um the amount of times
people just yell at your name going down
every hole is uh it’s unbelievable and
it’s fantastic to see and they’ve showed
up to support the team this week and uh
hopefully tomorrow can be a really good
day for us so nothing could be better
than a ripper win at live Adelaide what
do you guys need to do tomorrow to make
that
happen uh shoot the lowest
school that would probably help um
no I think um I think we’re all feeling
really comfortable with where our game’s
at um you know I said at the start of
the week I think we’ve done a better
time with managing our time um and a
better uh preparation on the golf course
and and it’s kind of showing um
obviously Herby didn’t have his his best
stuff yesterday but um showed up today
with a seven under which was pretty uh
pretty nice for us um in the team
standings but um you know four scools
counting tomorrow is is a is a different
game and
um yeah we’ve all got to show up and and
probably with our best stuff to um to
win Jonesy what do you need to do to
take home the individual W tomorrow uh
well I think what I don’t what am I
fallback uh what’s leading uh yeah
you’re four back right now yeah um I
mean I’m going to have to play the the
back nine like I’ve played it the last
two days and I’m going to have to play
really well on the front nine uh Ste is
not going to come back I played with him
today and he played brilliantly it was a
very easy six seven under whatever he
shot today and uh I can’t see that eight
under yeah eight I can’t see him going
backwards again so it’s going to be uh
it’s going to be we’re going to have to
hit a lot of good shots and giv give
ourselves a lot of good parts most
important question are you guys going to
Fisher tonight to get that good Juju for
tomorrow absolutely I wouldn’t miss that
I had to miss it last year but I won’t
be missing it this year okay well let’s
get you out of here quickly so we can
make it I know there’s some questions go
ahead
Russell uh cam can I just ask about the
members BS on and just how lucky that
was for
you yeah I think
um it it was it was a good bounce uh for
sure um I felt really bad for the for
the old lady down there I hit her in the
back and um it it probably wasn’t going
to be you know in the trees but it was
going to be in the rough and a different
lie so um could have been a a different
outcome but um you know made her proud
and made her birdie there and she helped
me out so um
yeah hopefully that eased the pain a
little bit for her was she nice about it
because everyone else has been nice
about everything to you this week yeah
yeah she was nice she um I went over
there I signed a ball and she said just
give me a hug so I gave her a hug as
well um yeah she was sweet just on that
though is it an advantage you mentioned
before you’re thinking about everything
a lot but isn’t an advantage to have
that sort of crowd support when you have
to make up four shots and there’s a lot
of birdies out there is that something
extra yeah I think um um you know having
support uh like we have this week is is
different uh to what we have 51 weeks
out or 51 other weeks out of the year so
um it’s a very different feeling um I
think uh the support is amazing but
there’s also a lot of pressure put on
you as well um to perform and um I think
you know not only us but probably every
other Australian uh wants us to do well
and and wants us to win tomorrow so um
that’s a of weight in on the shoulders
you know as it is but
um yeah we we’re ready for tomorrow did
you see this is to both of you you see
Herby really sort of reveled in it today
and it sort of helped him with his seven
under so is that something you can take
from him and say this is what it can do
we play plenty of practice rounds with
Herby and we know how good a golfer he
is yesterday he was probably a bit too
excited like we probably were last year
and we didn’t perform last year and I
think he was more of how that was
yesterday um and he came out today and I
was expecting a really low one from him
and he did it for us can I just ask Matt
about the tape is it something that’s
troubling you or it’s no not anymore
it’s more out of just precaution there’s
nothing wrong with me
whatsoever
Mike obviously you guys would like to
claim both titles tomorrow uh and you’re
both in the hunt for the individual
title but would a team title be almost
satisfying maybe even more satisfying
given this week where it’s at yeah I
think so um I think um you know this is
a week we’ve spoke about literally the
last year and um for it to all happen um
so quickly it seems like and then uh for
us to be in the position that we’re in
um after Saturday is is a pretty cool
spot so um you know we had a really good
chance in Hong Kong um to get a team win
didn’t quite uh pan out the way we
wanted there um but I’d like to think
we’ve all been playing some really solid
golf um particularly those last um two
or three events and um yeah just all
kind of needs to blend together on the
last day with those four scores counting
it can be um it can be quite tough and
um yeah I mean that’s what you want I
mean you’re only two shots back given
that the four scores count that’s really
nothing really I mean yeah that’s that’s
irrelevant I feel like I feel like if
you’re in within probably four or five
shots um that just goes back to zero
immediately almost it can happen in one
hole we’ve seen it before we’ve seen the
crushes come back from you know 12 or 13
back I think it was in in Saudi so um
yeah it’s you can’t sleep on a one or
two shot lead in the team event all
