the NFL draft is just around the corner
which makes this the perfect time to
check in on every team’s quarterback
situation quarterback is the most
important position in professional
sports and it’s really hard to win in
the NFL if you don’t have one that’s at
least above average and most of the time
you need a legitimately Elite one if you
want to win a Super Bowl so which teams
have their guy which teams have no guy
which teams are somewhere in the middle
it’s a good time to look at this because
it might give us some insight into what
some teams are trying to do or what they
should do in this year’s NFL draft now
before we get started this video is
sponsored by NFL Sunday Ticket on
YouTube and YouTube TV where you’ll be
able to see all these quarterbacks
throughout the season you can select and
watch up to four live games on one

personally used Sunday Ticket all last
season because I live in Denver now and
I wanted to keep an eye on my Patriots
so check out NFL Sunday Ticket on
YouTube and YouTube TV today all right
let’s get into it so we’ve got our tier
list here and I broke this up into five
categories that I think accurately
covers all the possibilities of what
teams feel about their quarterback
situation right now and I’ll go over
these tiers in more detail as I put
teams into them so starting with the
Arizona Cardinals they have a guy their
guy is K Murray right now and there’s no
immediate clear plans to move off of him
but every team I put into this category
has some sort of question mark
surrounding their quarterback and with
Kyler it’s just can he be that sort of
you know close to at least Elite guy
that can bring them to a Super Bowl I
think we’ve been waiting on Kyler to do
that for a few years and he’s either
gotten hurt or just not performed well
enough so the Cardinals are a good
example of a team that I don’t think is
just sitting pretty like oh we won’t
have to think about our quarterback
situation for a while they’re kind of in
wait and see mode with Kyler now they’re
also not a team that I expect to do
anything about their quarterback
situation in this year’s draft other
than maybe a fifth or sixth round typee
of guy but point being they have a guy
and their guy has question marks and
continuing with that theme the Atlanta
Falcons are going to go into the same
tier because of kurk cousins look I’m a
big KK cousins guy I think he’s a great
fit in Atlanta I think Atlanta has an
outside shot of you know reaching or
even winning a Super Bowl with Kirk
considering the other weapons they have
but when you take their quarterback
situation as a whole and take a step
back they’ve got a 35-year-old
quarterback coming off at torn ailles
like this is a position that they’re
going to have to start thinking about
his replacement sooner rather than later
and it wouldn’t necessarily surprise me
if they drafted a quarterback this year
in in the hopes of kind of molding and
developing him behind Kirk for the few
years that Kirk is there so again
there’s a lot of nuance in this middle
tier here because the Falcons are not a
team that’s going to be like actively
looking to change their quarterback
situation anytime soon but they’re also
not a team that’s going to feel like A+
perfect about where they are at
quarterback either the Baltimore Ravens
on the other hand absolutely feel A+
perfect about their quarterback Lamar
Jackson is the guy he’s going to be
there if the Ravens are smart until he
retires and he is more than capable of
essentially backpacking this team to a
Super Bowl I mean hopefully them
bringing in Derrick Henry doesn’t mean
he’ll have to do everything himself but
he is that level of talent so I feel
very comfortable putting the Ravens in
the have an elite guy category Buffalo
Bills same exact thing look Josh Allen
is catching a lot of flak maybe deserved
for not actually coming through in the
playoffs but I really don’t think that’s
anything to do with him I think it’s a
lot to do with Patrick Mahomes is just a
little bit better it is a little similar
to like the Payton Manning Tom Brady
comparison just because pton would have
probably had a lot more Rings if we were
able to just wipe Tom Brady off the face
of the Earth and I think that’s the case
for Josh Allen too if Patrick Mahomes
just didn’t exist Josh Allen would
probably have a ring or two by now but
even though he doesn’t the bills are
definitely not looking to move off of
him anytime soon they know he’s their
guy it’s just about getting the other
pieces right the Carolina Panthers and
the Enigma known as Bryce young I can’t
really put the Panthers in any other
tier right now because I’m not going to
write off Bryce young completely after
one bad year but I’m also not sure that
Bryce young is their guy I could very
easily see the Panthers you know if
Bryce has another bad year drafting a
new quarterback next year the Chicago
Bears decidedly do not have their guy I
hate to break it to any Tyson bent
truthers out there obviously this is
only the case because I’m doing this
video pre-draft they are about to have
presumptively their guy at least for the
next few years and if they don’t draft
Caleb Williams I will chug an entire
bottle of hot sauce live on stream the
Cincinnati Bengals have an elite guy I
think there are some people that are for
some reason jumping off the Joe burrow
train a little bit calling him
injury-prone and I want to remind those
people that seem to have the memory of a
goldfish uh Joe burrow is a top five
quarterback in this league and it’s not
debatable the Cleveland Browns Deshawn
is obviously their guy just based on his
contract and the fact that they chose
him over you know Joe flacko the Dallas
Cowboys I think are just now entering
this tier they’ve been a little weird
talking about dak’s extension they seem
to be in no rush to actually keep him
around long term the Denver Broncos are
going to join the Chicago Bears in the
do not have their guy tier I don’t think
it’s any secret that Jared stum is not
their guy and the Broncos are one of
those teams along with the Vikings who
will get to an a minute that they don’t
have a clear path to solving this issue
right now they’re just kind of stuck
with this replacement level quarterback
and they’re not in a position in the
draft to get one of the top guys maybe
they come away with a Michael penck
maybe they come away with a bow Knicks
we’ll see but for now the answer is
definitely not on their current roster
the lions are actually going to break in
the have their guy tier now here’s the
thing I like Jared gof but I don’t
necessarily think he’s better than Kurt
Cousins or Dak Prescott or even a
healthy Kyler Murray at least not by a
lot I just think the lions are perfectly
content with him as their quarterback
which I can’t say about some of these
other teams Jared go has really found a
home in Detroit and even though he might
not have the upside of guys like Patrick
Mahomes and Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen
I think he’s really in the perfect
system for his skill set right now so
that’s why I’m saying the Lions have
their guy even though he’s not
necessarily an elite guy by his own
Merit the Bay Packers I’m actually going
to put in that same tier that they have
their guy I think after last season they
are fully committed to Jordan love with
a small caveat that I think the Packers
have a chance to move up to this next
tier by next season while I don’t think
the Lions will do that with Jared gof I
think Jordan love has what it takes
tools wise to be one of those Elite
quarterbacks if everything breaks right
so this is maybe more of a temporary
spot for the Packers versus the Lions
but again this is no shade on the Lions
they built a really good team that
compliments Jared go skill set the
Houston Texans are essentially in the
same spot as the Packers where I feel
like they’ll probably be in this next
tier and honestly with how well CJ strad
played last year I could accept an
argument for putting him up here right
now but for me I just want to see one
more year of him doing it I’m very
confident that we’ll see that but I just
need to see that second year of you know
Elite play before I put the Texans up in
like the tippy top you know set for life
essentially quarterback situation tier
the Colts similar situation even though
he played way less games than both
Jordan love and CJ stra did but I think
with Anthony Richardson they have their
guy as well I mean maybe you could say
he belongs a tier lower just because he
has question marks with whether he can
stay healthy or not but to me this tier
list is more about how committed I feel
like these teams are to their
quarterback right now and I think the
Colts are fully committed to Anthony
Richardson now if he has another you
know really injury riddled season then
that might change but for now I have no
doubt that the Colts have no doubt that
Richardson’s their guy the Jaguars with
Trevor Lawrence it pains me to say I
have to put them in their guy has
question marks I’ve been wanting Trevor
to make that leap to Elite for a few
seasons now and he just hasn’t done it
and again as it goes for basically every
team in this tier it’s not that any of
them are necessarily looking to move off
of their quarterback right this minute
but they just might be starting to have
you know one eye looking toward the
future a little bit the Kansas City
Chiefs I’m just not really convinced
that Patrick Mahomes is going to keep up
this level of play I don’t think he’s a
legitimate NF I’m kidding no I’m putting
them in have an elite guy Patrick
Mahomes is the best quarterback in
football I don’t have any doubt about
that even if statistically he wasn’t as
good this past season he is still the
absolute best in the game the Chiefs
have a good chance to win a Super Bowl
for as long as this guy is under CER for
them I hope that’s obvious the Chargers
are a really tricky one because Justin
Herbert also fits the mold that Trevor
Lawrence do of just hasn’t made that
leap to Elite yet but I’m going to maybe
ignorantly put the Chargers in the have
an elite guy tier maybe it’s just a
feeling but I don’t think the Chargers
believe that any of their lack of
success is really on Justin Herbert I
mean you see them making all these moves
around him bringing in new coaches
trying to get guys that they think can
lead this team in the right direction so
you know another year of the Chargers
and Justin Herbert underperforming then
yeah maybe I’ll knock him down a little
bit and look I’ll be honest maybe this
is just a personal bias and I just like
Justin a little too too much but uh I’m
going to keep them up here for now I
don’t think the Chargers have an eye
toward a different quarterback just yet
I just really don’t think they do the
Rams meanwhile really have no choice but
to kind of be looking toward the future
so I’m putting them in their guy has
question marks obviously no disrespect
to Matthew Stafford I still think he’s a
top 10 quarterback in the league and
could maybe be that for a couple more
years but he’s getting older obviously I
mean when your quarterback’s 36 years
old you kind of have to be looking
toward the future so I’m sure the Rams
are at least thinking about it it’s too
bad Stetson Bennett older than Matthew
Stafford otherwise he might have been an
option Las Vegas Raiders do not have
their guys apologies to Aiden oconnell
and Gardner muu but neither of those
guys is going to be the Raiders
quarterback say two years from now might
not even be their quarterback this year
we’ll see what the Raiders do in the
draft but they are one of the teams that
more urgently needs a quarterback and
also aren’t necessarily in a great
position to get one at least not one of
the guys at the top of this year’s draft
so I don’t know when they’re going to
take their next stab at finding a
franchise quarterback whether it’s this
year or maybe next year but they got to
do it at some point because their guy is
not on the roster right now the two a
truthers aren’t going to like this one
but I’m going to put the Dolphins and
their guy has question marks two is
another guy that I think fits his system
really well I think Mike McDaniel has
done a great job you know maximizing the
weapons around Tua and really playing to
his strengths and I think there are
reasons that go beyond Tua that
contribute to the Dolphins lack of
playoff success with him even though
they’re not going to come out and say it
I think the Dolphins would love to find
a quarterback that’s just like a tier
above Tua just a guy that can do a
little bit more than he can and I think
unless we get a deep playoff run out of
the Dolphins here soon like at least an
AFC Championship Game appearance
considering all the talent that’s on the
rest of the roster two is going to start
facing a lot more question marks than he
already is the Minnesota Vikings do not
have their guys to anyone that thinks
Sam darnold is about to have like a Gino
Smith type of resurgence I just don’t
see it the goo Smith situation is so
rare like I don’t even think we’ve seen
a situation remotely like that before
Gino so I’m not inclined to think we’re
ever going to see it again at least not
anytime soon I feel like people are
still clinging to just the draft
prospect status that Sam darnold had way
back in the day and obviously there’s
also the parallel of him being drafted
by the Jets just like Gino was but I
just don’t think a brief stay in the
49ers system is going to suddenly turn
him into a startable quarterback so the
Vikings don’t have their guy they’re a
little more equipped than the Raiders
and the Broncos are to maybe trade up
and get their guy now that they have two
first round picks after getting that one
from the Texans so they’ve got a little
more ammo to maybe go up and get a guy
like JJ McCarthy but we’ll have to wait
and see for now they definitely do not
have their guy my New England Patriots
also do not have their guy I mean
they’re very aware of that obviously the
quarterbacks on the roster right now are
jacobe brassette and bayy zappy and
jacobe brassette is the definition of a
bridge quarterback a guy that can show
our new rookie the ropes maybe even
start the entire season while the rookie
sits on the bench and learns I’d be cool
with that but it’s extremely obvious
that the Patriots franchise quarterback
of the future is not currently on the
roster I am praying that they get one in
this draft they don’t trade back or do
something silly just go get Drake May or
Jaden Daniels don’t overthink it the New
Orleans Saints do not have their guy but
for now I really feel like the Saints
are just in limbo cuz I don’t think
they’re going to go out and find their
franchise quarterback of the future in
this year’s draft I think they’re
probably just going to tread water for
another season maybe for two seasons
before they go out and try to find that
true next guy the New York Giants do not
have their guy either and based on some
of the Rumblings that have come out
since last season I think the Giants are
starting to realize this too whether
they actually take a quarterback this
year to address that I don’t know I
don’t necessarily think they will but
there is a non-zero chance that they do
it the New York Jets are going and their
guy has question marks again this tier
list is about both the present and the
future and like for this season Aaron
roders may very well be elite once again
but at the end of the day he’s 40 so
it’s not like the Jets can just sit and
do nothing about their quarterback
situation for the next five six seven
years like all these teams on the top
theoretically can do the Philadelphia
Eagles have an elite guide they signed
Jaylen Herz to a giant extension he has
done basically nothing to prove that he
wasn’t worth that extension no matter
what you think Jaylen Herz or his skill
set there’s just basically no chance
that the Eagles move off of him anytime
soon the Pittsburgh Steelers I debated
it was it was a debate between the
bottom two tiers don’t get me wrong but
I actually settled on I’m going to put
them here I’m just not ready to
completely write off Justin Fields now
that he’s going to a new organization I
want to see what he can do there while
also fully acknowledging that there’s a
good chance he never becomes this like
Star Quarterback that a lot of people
thought he could be coming out of
college it’s just that the Steelers
unlike all these teams below them have a
Young quarterback that has theoretically
untapped potential Justin Fields is
still just a little bit of a question
mark so I’m not going to completely
write him off just yet and I think the
Steelers are looking at it as hey maybe
this could be our guy for the next three
or four years you know we’ll just have
to see the Seattle Seahawks are a tough
one I’m going to put them in their guy
has question marks because I think they
would be happy to keep rolling out Gino
Smith for as long as he plays well but
last year was definitely a step back
from his initial Resurgence year so I
don’t think they know exactly what they
have in him anymore and of course he’s
getting older as well he’ll turn 34 this
season so it’s just a situation where I
could see Gino starting for you know the
next 3 years or I could see them going
in a different direction next year so
that’s why I feel like it fits in their
guy has question marks the San Francisco
49ers quarterback situation to me is
almost identical to the Lions
quarterback situation so I’m going to
put them in have their guy I think Brock
p is a very good quarterback I also
think he’s physically Limited in ways
that you know these other guys above are
not but I see no world where the Niners
willingly move off of him anytime soon
he runs their system perfectly he’s a
very smart quarterback he’s a very
confident quarterback he’ll be there for
a little while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
are going and their guy has question
marks I think Baker May field played way
better for them than they expected and
they rewarded that with a three-year
extension but Baker’s been an up and
down player in his career and it’s going
to be interesting how he performs now
with Dave Canalis not in the picture who
is apparently a quarterback Whisperer I
mean he was with the Seahawks when Gino
rebounded he was with the bucks when
Baker rebounded so how does Baker do now
that he’s kind of a little more on his
own the Tennessee Titans I’m going to
put in might have their guy we haven’t
seen quite enough from will Levis to
make any more of a definitive statement
than that but the Titans sure seem to
like him and I think if I were to ask
them they would tell me to put them up
in one of these two tiers with how
confident they are L cuz the way they’ve
approached this offseason they sure seem
to like him I mean you don’t go out and
sign Calvin Ridley Tony Pard even trade
for lerus sne on the defensive side if
you’re not trying to contend in some
capacity which tells me that they think
Levis is a guy that can lead them to
being a contender but I need to see a
little bit more from him before I fully
believe that he is like their
quarterback of the next several years so
I’m putting them in might for now and
the Washington commanders wholeheartedly
do not have their guy uh I think that
much is obvious they’re the favorites to
draft Jaden Daniels right now whatever
Direction they end up going they are
going to take a quarterback I mean
Marcus Mario is listed as a starter
right now I think we all know that’s not
going to be the case week one but
that’ll do it every team’s quarterback
situation heading into the NFL draft let

  1. this is a great list I agree with pretty much everyone except two things. 1) the colts belong in the “too early to tell” slot and 2) Justin Herbert is in the same tier as CJ stroud and Jordan love because he has not yet become elite but he will soon be.

  2. Really? Trevor Lawrence is in the Question Marks Bin after Urban Meyer and whatever Trent Balke is cooking, but Justin Turdburt gets the ELITE tag because Chargers? Really? Even after Lawrence beat Herbert in the playoffs too?

That's just disrespectful. Travor Lawrence is at least 'Have Their Guy' shelf material.

  3. Also helpful to remember that QB is overvalued.

You need a good QB to win a super bowl. You do NOT need an elite guy. However, if you don't have an elite QB, the rest of the team HAS TO BE ELITE.

  4. I don't think Hurts is the guy. He needs to show me more. He looked awful last year. I hope Kellen Noore can fix him.

  5. You said Burrpw is a top 5 QB no question. Well Mahomes is on a different level than everyone in that top tier no question! The distance between Mahomes and whoever #2 is is way bigger than the distance between #2 and #5. Mahomes deserves his own tier.

  6. I don't understand the logic of putting Richardson in "Have THEIR guy" and Will Levis in "Too Early to Tell"

  7. I would only change 2 things.

1st, change the bottom tier to A Draft, noy The Draft. Seems less imminent since 8 teams aren't likely getting starting options in this draft.

Two, drop the Eagles a tier. Jalen regressed a lot with the chage kn in OC last season, and I am not sold on him getting back to 2022 form.

  8. Watching this after the first round and this was pretty spot on. The only difference is the giants seem pretty confident in their qb after drafting an o lineman, the raiders just couldn’t really draft a qb bc all the good ones were taken and the falcons decided to draft penix so they must have a lot of questions😂

  9. Ik this isn’t really related to the video but r the Josh Allen>Lamar Jackson arguments done now? Lamar has had better regular season success, 2 MVP’s and has now found the same playoff success as Josh, now has a better overall team to make a SB push and probably as a team a top 3-5 favorite to win this year, ik team isn’t related to the QB argument but im curious if there r ppl who still take Allen over Jackson

  10. Will Levis outscored Anthony Richardson's season in one game.

He finished with higher PFF grade than both AR and Bryce…..and you have a question mark next to him – whilst you declare AR the Colts "guy"!?

    😂😂😂😂 Make it make sense.

  11. Putting CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson in the same tier is insane as one had one of the best rookie years of all time and the other looked solid for 4 games

  12. To say Brock Purdy is physically limited means that you don’t watch niners games. Purdy has the same 40 yard time and hand size as Patrick Mahomes, same ten yard split time as Lamar Jackson, and he’s got one of the strongest legs. He makes so many plays by scrambling out of pocket instead of staying in, as the Oline has absolutely been atrocious. He won the NFCCG by rushing 50 yards in the second half. He already has the same number of playoff wins as Hurts and Lamar combined

  13. As a Bears fan, the fact that their are Tyson Bagent “truthers” makes me think we have one dumbest fan bases when it comes to QBs. 🙄

  14. Wow you grossly overrated Justin Herbert how to put Trevor Lawrence at least in Jacksonville has their guy Justin Herbert should be in that same category he is not elite he's not showing me anything elite yet

  15. Joe burrow gets hit less often than Justin Herbert and has missed what, 3 times as many games? While putting up worse numbers with a loaded receiving corps?

  16. I'd move Tampa into "Have their guy". If they didn't truly believe that Baker wasn't their guy long term, they wouldn't have given him a good sized extension.
