not since B rabbit was giving Papa do
the best cinematic bars you’ve ever
heard has there been such a robust and
Ruckus crowd in Detroit tonight it’s
safe to say that NFL fans are hoping for
a new era in their franchise or or to
continue to build upon what they already
have or even more Electric in the Motor
City we had plenty of chalk some
surprises as well and we’ll get to all
that here in the next 45 minutes welcome
to the round one reaction show presented
by Nationwide I am your host Harry l Jr
alongside 2008 draft e Harry Douglas as
well as the minister of that boy bad
Spencer Hall of Channel 6 and Kevin
Clark of this is football boys how are
we feeling HD I’m feeling good man happy
to be here a lot of Dreams uh have come
true tonight a lot of lives will be
changed so excited for all the draes and
excited about this show too Spencer
before we get to your thoughts Roger
Goodell had two buttons undone I need
you to give me one more you got to out
no no no there you go baby there you go
Mr H absolutely Kevin how we feeling man
I’m feeling okay we got some Falcons
fans over here who may not feeling as
good I’m feeling pretty great aren’t you
I’m feeling good I’m feeling good
speaking of which let’s get to this big
board here huh HD what do you what do
you like about what you see right here
out of the first round so far I think
for me it’s 24th overall to the whole
City to Detroit Lions Terry and Arnold
Brad Holmes and also Dan Campbell they
are very intentional this off season in
making sure they build this defense they
got another guy in the secondary which
is needed when you look at the Green Bay
Packers when you look at the Chicago
Bears now also Minnesota teams that are
going to pass the football also they
added this off season Colton Davis they
went and traded to get him from the
Champa Bay Buccaneers they added DJ reer
to the defensive line and also M Marcus
Davenport to help out Aiden Hutcherson
so I love the culture in Detroit and
adding terion Arnold is going to be
pivotal moving forward Spencer what’s
sticking out to you about this listen I
think there’s a lot of really important
teams making important decisions
especially in the top 10 to improve
their franchises but I’m not going to
talk about that okay what I want you to
do is I want you to go ahead and look up
at 28 okay HD is going to talk a lot
more about this and he’s going to sound
way smarter than I’m going to and that’s
fine because all want to do is this why
do you keep letting Andy Reed do this
why the fastest man in in in history in
history guess where he went to the
Chiefs to the Chiefs and from one KC to
another Kevin Clark what sticks out to
you about this board the statement the
league made tonight with basically not
drafting a defensive player until the
middle of the first round that is insane
top three quarterbacks here go off the
board within its lineman it’s it’s
Michael pen going at 8 lot of surpris
but the league did not value defense
this year a lot about where the league
is right now and sure didn’t you mention
Michael pennick let’s get to these
quarterbacks shall we uh for the first
time in NFL history five quarterbacks
went in the top 10 five of them that’s
half right like that’s math that even
and I could do there were six total
quarterbacks taken in the first round
which is tied for the record set in that
historic 1983 class led by John Elway
and let’s take a look at this position
here guys uh Caleb Williams obviously to
the Bears we all knew that was going to
happen he had the Bears had an off
season to remember they made some
additions they traded for Keenan Allen
they acquired DeAndre Swift as well as
Gerald Everett HD what are you expecting
from Caleb Williams in year one well
first let me say this never in the
history of the NFL draft would you would
you have a guy drafted number one
overall that’s going to go into the
situation that Caleb Williams is with
the Chicago Bears I thought Ryan poles
did a great job of building this offense
out and this team out to compliment his
quarterback that he took first overall
they also got Romo D with the ninth pick
and I just think it’s going to be
amazing they have three number one wide
receivers unbelievable to me Chicago
Bears are doing everything to make sure
their franchise quarterback has
everything on the offensive end so he
can Thrive moving forward and one other
quarterback I can’t let you go yet
without talking about the Falcons
Michael Penn what are what are we
thinking about the pick now I would have
preferred a defensive player at number
eight um I do understand what Atlanta is
doing even though a lot of people don’t
m when you you can’t talk about Patrick
Mahomes being able to sit and thriving
you can’t talk about Jordan love Aaron
Rogers doing the same so when you look
at the offensive system that they’re
going to be running it it’s perfectly
fit for Michael penck Jr and now I view
you know Kurt Cousins being there for
two years and in that third year it’s
going to be the Michael pennick show
moving forward um I really do wish they
would have took a defensive player there
but Michael pennick Jr is one of my
favorite quarterbacks in this draft I
think he is the best natural thrower of
the football where you’re talking about
short deep intermediate uh he can do all
the things in in my eyes that fit this
offensive system now Spencer you are one
of the three Atlanta residents up here
sitting at this desk I am in the host
chair today so I’m going to let you
speak for me and perhaps some other
Falcons fans out there what about this
stands out to you um it says this that
uh communication still may not be the
Atlanta Falcons strong suit because
allegedly Kurt Cousins did not know
about this also it does State this that
they’re at least thinking bold because I
don’t think anyone else had penic here
all right however however before we get
into the negatives about this and before
we get tangled up in all the Falcons of
this I do want to talk about the Michael
penck of this which is that he has been
injured he has overcome a lot he was at
one of the most difficult spots in
college football at Indiana and was
super productive there his teammates
love him and as you said displays
professionalism and even the smallest
details of his personal acutron and play
and and I will just let you all know
that that my biggest piece of analysis
for tonight is that there is not a more
committed player in this draft than
Michael penck Jr and the reason is
because you have never not seen this man
with a purple silky do-rag on you hey
you have to be committed to the wav okay
and even when you saw his picture when
you know where they were showing the
stats things he had a beanie on okay the
only time you’ve ever seen him without a
wave cap is at the Heisman ceremony and
tonight but I digress you see it right
there obviously again completely
committed to the bit in fact even after
the Sugar Bowl I must had that thing on
so I literally tweeted with this pick
when this pick happened my guy Michael
penx Jr would now need a red do-rag the
purple one is now retired welcome to
Atlanta my brother welcome to Atlanta
now Kevin Clark yes this draft class all
these quarterbacks the volume of it we
talked about some of the historical
numbers what sort of does this say to
you about where we’re at this is the
transfer portal draft and it’s this not
the end of something it’s the beginning
of something six quarterbacks taken in
the first round three of them are direct
results of the transfer portal I will
not put put Caleb Williams in that
bucket he would have been a first round
pick no matter where he went but you
look at Jaden Daniels if he stayed at
Arizona State he would not be a first
round pick Michael penck if he stayed at
Indiana maybe a mid- round pick maybe uh
bo Knicks I mean the scouting reports
were not good at Auburn okay he goes to
Oregon he reinvents himself now he’s
he’s with Sean pton I think we’re going
to see I think people are saying oh this
is an indictment the six quarterbacks an
indictment of next year’s draft people
don’t like it no no no there’s going to
be quarterbacks every year now because
there’s a bunch of reasons that the
transfer portal makes scouting easier
first of all the players are older
they’re more I mean you look at I think
Bo Knicks had 1400 more throws in
college than JJ McCarthy did that’s just
going to keep happening it’s not just
the co year it’s guys who are older
they’re staying in college more they’re
finding scheme fits they don’t have to
sit on the bench and say hey I don’t
really like this coach or we had this
coaching change here they can go say hey
I want to go play in this offense B
Knicks and that Oregon offense they’re
they’re Inseparable you cannot tell the
story of one without the other so you’re
going to get more guys like this and
it’s going to populate the league at the
quarterback position way more than
anybody thinks 100% And and Spencer we
were sort of sitting there amazed to see
B Knicks get picked not just in the like
in the draft but in the first round
given where he started from where he was
at at Auburn what was sort of your
takeaway and just seeing again this
player that we’ve seen do a lot of
growing cuz a lot of growing has had to
happen but what is your take away from
him Landing with the Broncos I I think
that Shawn pyton has seen what a lot of
us in college saw which is a player who
can learn if you want to know a player
who displayed more growth over the
course of four five nine however many
years Bo Nick was in college okay Bo
Nick is one of those guys when he
started you can see this is a man who
scrambled this is a man who made plays
maybe plays that weren’t scripted
usually plays that weren’t scripted but
a guy who clearly displayed improvement
from his time at Auburn to when he went
to Oregon and became a guy who made
quick reads still looked downfield but
overall was efficient decisive and
played with in the system tell me
gentlemen what more do you want out of a
prospect than that if I just took the
name bo Knicks off of that and I took
some of the laughs we had with him in
college you would say that’s somebody I
can see being a pretty safe bet he is
the most experienced guy in this class
don’t ignore that an experience still
matters you can control your own destiny
in college football now with the
transfer portal and I think that’s the
most important thing not only can you
get a million bucks to stay in a lot of
cases I mean there is some of that but
you’re able to rewrite your own history
you know the old line there’s no second
act in American history there are second
acts now within four-year College
experiences because of the transfer
portal it is changing this now you look
at someone like cam Mo at Miami next
year where they can go from Washington
State to or to to to Miami uh get in a
new system get to Showcase themselves
and all a sudden they can be a first
round pick this time next year it is
changing the sport at the pro level
what’s happening at the college level
you know HD we we always end up with
these Miami folks on the
show let you I got to remind you that
Louisville did actually beat
Miami I’m not talk about the past when I
when I look at a guy like Bo Knicks
right when he was at Auburn I literally
did not think he was an NFL quarterback
literally did not but he’s done a great
job over the last two years and what I
was so you know taken by last year he
trusted his teammates more and the
reason why feel like he fits Shawn
Payton system that’s a system man I
played against when I was with Atlanta
Falcons they’re going to have multiple
Personnel groupings they’re going to get
in and out of the Huddle they want a
quarterback that’s very smart and
demands the Huddle as well but plays on
time plays on script and that’s one of
the things that really attracted Shawn
pton to B Knicks so I think he has an
opportunity to make a living and make a
promising career being in this system
under sha pyton we we talked ourselves
into this yeah we talk in real time
which honestly and I will say this
though you know it didn’t take that much
no and and you said the two words the
name that I was kind of like okay I see
the vision Drew Brees it’s it’s it’s
kind of best case scenario y y’all don’t
get crazy and you know be like ah look
at these guys are saying bonic but yeah
you see the vision I see so now let’s
move forward here let’s take a look at
the offensive players that were drafted
in this class because we talked about
the volume of them right and and just
the talent and I think a lot of the
excitement you saw tonight was because a
lot of people feel either they’re
getting that franchise quarterback or
they are getting somebody that is a
building block for their team HD who is
somebody that stuck stuck out to you in
this for me it’s going to be Brian
Thomas Jr right with the Jacksonville
Jaguars and this move also told me that
hey Trevor Lawrence if you’re listening
you’re on the clock buddy there are no
more excuses for Trevor Lawrence with
the weapons that he has they signed Gabe
Davis this off season from the Buffalo
Bills you have chrisen Kirk that’s
coming back you have Z Jones you have
Evan Ingram they have a
an arsenal of weapons in Jacksonville so
for Trevor Lawrence there are no more
excuses I like the Brian Thomas Jr pick
for the Jacksonville Jaguars Spencer
what do you got for me I really like the
Brock where Brock Bowers ended up
because Brock Bowers did I think go from
being an unquestioned first round pick
and somebody who we thought was Elite
Talent to somebody who as happens from
time to time in the draft we began to
spot little things we began to say well
maybe it’s this maybe he’s not the
inline Blocker we need okay PA him with
the tight end on the other side who are
already does all that for you in the
form of uh of Michael Mayer uh with for
the LA Raiders this to me is a great
spot for him because he doesn’t have to
do some of that heavy lifting that may
or might have to do while also serving
as a security blanket for whoever ends
up playing QB for the Raiders okay well
I know there are serious questions about
this okay but it’s not it’s a pretty
good spot for him and I think it’s going
to suit his talents really well and I
got to tell you man I sometimes the the
word value when we talk about the draft
and these Pi sort of makes be cringe but
like getting him at 13 does feel like a
steal uh so that I think that is a a
great one Kevin what do you got for me I
cannot believe Spencer picked someone
without a quarterback who’s in a good
position I’m going to pick Patrick momes
as my quarterback okay so there’s a
couple things there’s a bunch of guys
who are going to have great years coming
in I think neighbors is going to have a
great year dunesday we’re we we’ll get
to all of that but worthy going to the
Chiefs I mean I I was I was joking with
Spencer earlier but it’s like oh by the
way the Chiefs are doing the Super Bowl
next year like it it’s over like it just
feels to me like this was the kind of
move where the Chiefs are going to say
okay we’re going to add an extra
Dimension that we didn’t even need it’s
a luxury pick he’s the fastest runner in
NFL history and he’s going to a
quarterback and I had a conversation
with Brett Beach the GM maybe four or
five years ago we’re talking about the
types of receivers momes needs the
answer is blazing fast and can improvise
over the middle of the field he actually
used the then it was a different era he
used the example of Antonio Brown um a
guy who can obviously run anywhere on
the field but knew kind of with Ben
rburg or where to be cuz you know plays
break down you play off schedule and
it’s a completely different game at that
point this is that kind of guy and I
feel like every single year the good
thing remember talking to V he said to
me the one thing is we have the best
building blocks in the sport Andy Reid
and Patrick Mahomes but that’s not
enough every single year they add
something every single year last year
was on defense um they you know getting
the the veterans they need in this year
it’s the fastest guy in NFL history
they’re going to get another level this
year it’s unfair I think another thing
that stands out to me when it comes to
Kansas City you look at the background
of Andy Reid right when he was with
Philadelphia Eagles drafting of Desa
Jackson a Jeremy Macklin and then with
the Kansas City Chiefs we see took a
chance on a cadarius Tony he had a
Tyreek Hill he loves these type of wide
receivers who has speed and can really
stress the defense out another home run
hitter for Kansas City in my opinion so
let me ask you this HD it just says a
follow-up because when I see this pick
and we talk about the speed Kansas City
won that first super bow a different way
than they won this last one right like
we talked about them having Tyreek Hill
everybody was asking oh well are the
Chiefs going to be the same without
Tyreek hill bro they got 15 playing
quarterback and they learned a different
way they won this Super Bowl in a
different way what just off the top of
your head would you expect this team in
their offense to look like now that
they’ve got that guy again well I think
you could put guys would have put a s on
the end remember they signed Holly rib
hwood Brown in for agency I think a lot
of this pick in the first round to me
also you had the the re R situation
going on so you you probably knew you
had to take a wide receiver but it’s
back to the speed take the top off we’re
going to stress the hell out of you and
we’re going to make you have to guard
every blade of grass on the football
field when you’re playing us on top of
we have at the quarterback position what
we call the standard that’s Patrick
Mahomes so it’s going to be scary again
in my opinion no 100% and uh look that
is a great offensive player but we still
love some defense even though there were
none taken in the first 14 picks still
tons and tons of talent a lot of guys I
mean
I I think it really again just sort of
speaks to the way that a lot of these
teams view the offensive talent in this
draft but HD who is a guy on the
defensive side of the ball that has
stuck out to you Byron Murphy thei and I
thought the Seattle Seahawks with their
new head coach Mike McDonald he hit it
on the head he really put guys last year
in Baltimore in positions to be
successful he has a young defense now in
Seattle and he just got a young
promising uh player when I did that that
the man uh excuse me the mcafe cash the
semi-finals game versus um the me the
Washington Huskies when I mean he ate
the offensive line of the Washington
Huskies he really did he literally could
have had about three or four sacks in
that game if it wasn’t for Michael penck
Jr being able to be elusive in the
pocket escape that pressure but he’s a
young man that I think has a promising
career moved to the offensive side of
the football in Texas had a touchdown
rushing had a touchdown receiving so we
you know the athleticism is there but he
is a man’s child he’s going to be a
handful to deal with and I love the
promising piece is that Seattle has on
defense that Mike McDonald is going to
have at his disposal I think one of the
best compliments at least in terms of
that coaching hire that they made is
that in all the years that Pete Caroll
was in Seattle you anytime they pick the
guy you’re like oh he’s got to be it
like he’s got to be good still feels
that way with McDonald so good on them
for hitting on that higher Spencer who
you got I got to take a guy named chop
hard to argue you’re Defender name chop
yeah I mean like I’m dumb so I’m just
going to take somebody based on names
right like like I’ll just pick him on
Vibes but chop Robinson ending up in
Miami okay Miami they needed some help
up front right after the departure of
Christian Wilkins they get chop Robinson
chop Robinson the greatest compliment I
can hear from coaches is that we ran
away from him that we didn’t want him in
the game so we built entire game plans
around avoiding that dude Michigan ran
32 times 32 times in a row against Penn
State did they do that because they
liked punishing people with the Run
absolutely did they do it to keep chop
Robinson from potentially rushing the
quarterback absolutely because he’s more
than capable of doing that love the way
he plays matches the name I love chop
especially for the Miami Dolphins when
you have jayen Phillips coming off of
ailles when you have Bradley chub coming
off of ACL and you have the departure of
Christian Wilkins Zack sealer in the
inside at defensive tackle position did
a phenomenal job last season rushing a
quarterback and being dominant now you
can add that guy named chop and whenever
you have that name there a lot of things
you probably going to chop it doesn’t
hurt now I’m surprised here Kevin Miami
Hurricane who do we got okay so it’s
Forida State’s Jared verse I actually
fli that when somebody puts me in hell I
respect them so much I call it the
Jaylen Ramsey rule I remember just
watching that Jaylen Ramsey game a
couple a decade ago and saying oh my God
I I want to be anywhere but watching
this now I respect the hell out of
Jaylen Ramsey in the for State Miami
game anyway here’s what I like about
your adverse he plays winning football
from the defensive line and I don’t
think a lot of people think about a
defensive line being able to do that
when Aaron donnald retired I was talking
to a couple people in the league and
hearing a couple of those interviews and
and someone including Jeff Fischer said
that what Aaron Donal was going to do is
he wanted to win the game on third down
and fourth down he was he was setting up
on first and second down a move here a
move there because he wanted to win the
game when it mattered he wanted to put a
quarterback on his butt that’s what
Jared verse does there’s a reason
against Louisville against Florida that
Jared verse was in the backfield and I
needed to point to these guys cuz they
needed to know that it was against
obviously I see it feel some type of way
huh all right did it against Miami too
but he knew when it was winning time and
I think you also look over the course of
the season I was disappointed in Jared
verse over the first half of the Season
it felt like he was regressing a little
bit Jordan Travis goes out he and Fisk
pretty much look at each other and they
say we have to St sack the quarterback
on every single play or else we’re going
to lose to a Louisville to a Florida and
they went andhe and did that they were
pressuring over and over and over again
they knew when to make the big plays
they were Always setting up the huge
sack I I just have so much respect for
Jared verse he’s going to be perfect fit
in Los Angeles where by the way all of
the rumors were them going offense the
fact that verse felled to them they
couldn’t help themselves and this is a
match made in heaven for me and I just
want to Quick send a quick shout out
here Christine Williamson I know you’re
watching that is a Miami Hurricane that
is still objective take notes love you
anyway uh let’s move on to a quarterback
that was not very happy tonight and it
is uh our guy Kirk Cousins Atlanta
Falcons quarterback Diane Rini has sent
out this tweet the Falcons called Kirk
when they were on the clock to let him
know she says from what she learned
cousins understood a quarterback would
be considered but he did not believe his
successor would be taken in the first
round she said I’m told he’s a bit
stunned uh HD where does this leave Kirt
cousins this year well he’s going to
play he’s going to be the number one guy
but you know Kirk definitely probably
didn’t think Michael penck Jr was going
to be drafted to Atlanta in the first
round If he if Atlanta was going to do
that he probably thought it it would be
in the second round right if Michael
pennick Jr was there but at the same
time when you look at the con contract
and how constructed 45 million in year
one 45 million year two uh 10 million in
year three the best time a lot of people
say to draft a quarterback is when you
don’t need one and for the Atlanta
Falcons I think they’re taking a page
and Terry Fondo their general manager
has been on record saying this you got
to kind of have that mindset that Green
Bay had right when they had Aaron Rogers
they decided to take Jordan love now let
me say this for the third time with the
eighth pick I thought they should have
went defense because of the need uh a
pass pass rush right you look at the
last three or four years for the Atlanta
Falcons it has been a dark cloud for
their football team and I’m looking
forward to seeing where they’re going to
go on on day two and also day three of
the draft you know me and Spencer were
joking before the show and we were like
you know everybody’s saying Dallas
Turner Dallas Turner Dallas Turner which
means they’re going to pick a receiver
which would be fitting for the Falcons
because they picked so many receivers
that we’ve got one sitting here right
next to us and they still managed to
surprise us but Spencer what are your
thoughts here on what the Falcons have
with Kirk Cousins well I mean Kirk can
be a bit stunned but how long does that
last it can’t last long because he’s a
quarterback in his mid-30s coming off of
a major injury and you have a guy who I
I don’t think anybody will dispute this
Michael penick’s best pure thrower in
this draft throws missiles one of my
favorite players accurate throws a
gorgeous ball a dude who clearly is just
got arm talent for days if you have two
years with Kurt Cousins which as you so
sagely point out they do Hefty years on
the contract followed by a light year
three the quarterback position is the
hardest to learn to play on the field it
is the one where I think sitting with
confidence and with a real understanding
that you will play a role with this
organization you want Jordan loves okay
going back a little bit you want your
Aaron Rogers you want your Steve Youngs
you want people who get some time to
season on the bench it’s built in it’s
right there I want the best for Michael
penx I I think this is a great setup for
him for kurk cousins it’s irrelevant
you’re getting paid dude you’re getting
paid a tremendous amount of money Kevin
I disagree with everything you just said
okay um all right let’s unpack this
first of all Jordan love was a better
value he was lower in the draft uh the
Packers did not know frankly that Aaron
Rogers was going to not only play but
have MVP caliber Seasons it’s a
different situation and he was with an
offensive head coach who was quarterback
Centric and could groom him in a very
specific way um a little bit of a
different setup in Atlanta I think kurk
cousins has every right to be stunned
because there were other teams that
would have given him a ton of money I I
understand I saw some some sort of you
know Don Draper memes that’s what the
money is for I saw that out there I
understand that but he could have gone
to a bunch of places that wouldn’t have
done this I thought this was a reach I
thought this was a mistake um I think
that we always talk and I remember after
the love pick I said everybody says they
want best player available and then then
when they see it they don’t like it but
I don’t think that at 8 Michael penx was
the best player available I think if you
traded down you could have gotten a 15
16 um more of that gotten some value for
it uh I just don’t think this was the
spot and I think that now they’ve got
and we we said oh what’s the downside
with Kirk he’s getting paid the moment
he has a two interception quarter
there’s going to be fans booing him
there’s going to be media asking if it’s
time you’ve invested a massive amount
now in Michael penck in draft Capital by
the way the reason you don’t necessarily
want a guy to sit for that long is
because of the rookie contract because
of how valuable that is look at how
valuable it is that the Texans have CJ
strout in the contract they do right now
or that Caleb Williams is going to be so
cheap that the Bears can build around
him even more than they already have
that’s not happening right now in
Atlanta they’re paying a quarterback a
ton of money they’re going to have to I
mean Jordan love his first year starting
they already had to renegotiate the
contract and give him 20 million bucks
and they’re going to have to give him
more after this so a cheap rookie
quarterback is a very valuable thing
you’re not getting that in this scenario
I I just don’t like anything about this
frankly there is one there’s one fatal
flow on you’re thinking that good things
can happen for the
Falcons that’s invalidates your entire
arget of course well let let me say this
though because when I look at Raheem
Morris yeah Kevin I agree with a few
things that you said but I know Raheem
inside it out okay he was a guy that yes
he’s a defensive coach but he moved to
the offensive side absolutely and he
knows that offense inside and out Zack
Robinson is a guy that he brought over
so he’s going to be involved with
everything right he has his coordinators
but he’s going to be involved with
everything when I think about this
offensive system that a lot of people
run in the NFL now and talking to a few
quarterbacks that are older veterans
that played in the system year one is
going to be hell for anybody I don’t
care what level of quarterback you are
year two is when you really start to get
it so if we think about Michael penck Jr
taking over in year three he’s going to
be way more seasoned and the Falcons at
that point won’t have to be looking for
a quarterback because that guy is
already ready to be inserted into their
star lineup a let me ask you this just
as one last followup before we move on
here as somebody that has been in an NFL
loer and we played 10 years in the
league with something like this
happening where we’re seeing it’s
literally being being leaked out that he
is unhappy how do you see this playing
out in the locker room like do you think
this this is something that could linger
is it going to be something that hey
like you know they they talk and it’s
over like what in your estimation is
this going to look like for them yeah I
don’t think it’s going to linger number
one I don’t think Kurt Cousins is that
kind of guy uh number two you have a job
to do at the end of the day one of the
things my coaches told me early on in
the career listen the NFL don’t have
time for your feelings you have a job to
do you’re getting paid and compensated
the right way go out there good job
Point Blank period that’s the truth and
hey Kurt Cousins if it makes you feel
better man they just gave you $90
million guaranteed off of a torn
Achilles I think you’re going to play
anyway now it’s time for draft night
drills presented by Nationwide and we’re
going to do some draft night
superlatives I am going to go first
because I think it is the best I’ve got
best bling and it is Marvin Harrison
Jr’s chain this is just a fantastic
piece like the whole suit is great and I
think he could have been a good
Contender for best outfit which HD will
get to next but the chain is absolutely
perfect everything the light touches is
your kingdom Moos I’m gonna watch that
when I get home HD yeah for me I have
best outfit that’s going to go to terion
Arnold and the most impressive thing
about this outfit is what it says inside
link let a naysayer know ladies and
gentlemen tyon Arnold yay that’s always
that’s always okay
uh it’s a moment it’s a moment h
uh best lack of outfit JC Lam look at
that that intro with the chain but no
shirt 342 lb of All American Glory JC
leam doesn’t even like to wear gloves
because he wants to get those hands on
you I love it Bama does nothing but put
on but here taking it off really
contributed something big guys need
loving too biggest media smoke screen JJ
McCarthy and all that buzz for him to go
for it never happened it didn’t appear
like it was ever going to happen so if
any body needs a refresher L were going
to go one through four Clean Sweep with
clean sweep with quarterbacks but four
came and went and there were no trades
and Marvin Harrison Jr went and Joe alt
went and all these guys romad dun went
and all of a sudden we get outside the
top 10 and the Minnesota Vikings do not
need to mortgage their future they end
up getting their guy it showed me this
was a three quarterback draft at the
very very top with the elite guys I
think there was a a a a movement to kind
of group McCarthy in there earlier this
week earlier this month it was never
real the teams viewed the top three as
the elite three with a huge gap and then
JJ McCarthy this was a huge media smoke
screen and we all fell for it I’m going
go with head scratching pick stupid is
and stupid does that’s the Buffalo Bills
they had the 28 pick but they decided
they wanted the Kansas City Chiefs to
trade up and select Xavier worthy you
would have thought they would have
learned from 2017 when they had the 10th
overall pick and they allowed the Chiefs
to get that pick and guess what voila
Patrick Mahomes now you’re 0 and3 versus
the Chiefs in the playoffs and for some
odd and apparent reason you want to
continuously help out the Kansas City
Chiefs Spencer biggest statement what do
we got here the literally the biggest
statement Joe Al all 8 foot
498 LBS or whatever of Joe Al at tackle
if you want to know what the Chargers
are going to be like under Jim Harbaugh
it’s this they’re going to start with
the biggest tackle he can find a brick
wall which means we’re going to
establish an identity even in this
modern NFL what are we are what are we
first we are bronny we’re going to hit
and we’re going to hold our draft party
at what appeared to be an all you can
eat buffet somewhere in Minnesota I love
it it’s a great pick it the Harbaugh
regime seems like it’s getting off to a
good start and day one as entertaining
as that was I’m personally excited for
tomorrow not just because you guys get
five hours of us but I think there are
some great players that are going to be
available I’m going to start us off here
and I’m going to go with a guy that HD
you and I got to see him play multiple
times this year from your Alma moer
Louisville the running back Isaac gendo
this is a guy that started off his
career at Wisconsin he sat behind uh a
couple of guys that you might know
Jonathan Taylor and brillan Allen and he
only has 200 suon carries compared to a
lot of these other guys in the draft
that have five or 600 fresh ran a 433 at
the comine really just great player that
I think someone is going to be as long
as he ends up in the right right type of
situation I think he could really be
somebody for all you fantasy football
nuts like he’s probably going to be a
guy who you become incredibly familiar
with but anyways HD who sticks out to
you for tomorrow yeah I’m going to go
the wide receiver route I’m going go lad
makun out of Georgia you talk about a
route Savant sharp in and out of cuts a
guy that has the speed he can be a home
run hitter but he can run every route on
the route tree and he’s not shy about
the game of football or playing at his
highest level so I’m going lad makuni
another trick you know if you can’t pick
somebody with an awesome name take
somebody who is respected by his peers
who say this dude’s underrated and he’s
incredible Kool-Aid mckinstry cornerback
out of Alabama a guy with probably the
highest football IQ out of any corner
here and this is a real smart class
anyway he’s way up there super smooth
super brainy also his name is Kool-Aid
mck I was going to say it’s it’s pretty
cool um for me pton Wilson from ENC
State he’s a linebacker who was
everywhere his athletic testing was off
the charts I always bet big on ath icism
um you watch the tape you look at the
combine testing it doesn’t matter he was
everywhere I would love to have him on
my defense if I was a DC he was a guy
that HD we got to see in person when we
had game day at Duke we went to go see
your boys play them on that Friday night
and it was like dude pton Wilson’s in
the back field on every single almost
wrecked the game by himself like
absolutely ridiculous before we get out
of here is there anything else that you
guys either stuck out to you or
something that you need to see from a
specific team tomorrow or again even
just uh again picks that stood out to
you today I think for me the Chicago
Bears um being able to get Caleb
Williams at one and Romo dun at number
nine they’re they’re really trying to
make sure that their franchise
quarterback moving forward is set and
there’s no excuse for him to be
successful moving forward no without a
doubt Spencer I I think there’s still
tons of defensive Talent on the board
the offensive glut in round one means
that somebody’s going to steal somebody
okay the in the second round tomorrow
you’re going to see a lot lot of really
good defensive Talent come off the board
for places where they’re going to make
an immediate impact I’d love to see the
Buffalo Bills make a pick to wake up say
hey hey you guys there’s a draft going
on maybe get involved maybe help
yourself for 2024 I was surprised they
traded with the Chiefs like you want
more trauma as a with as a fan base you
maybe you gave you know worthy a marquee
player uh to Kansas City um I was
surprised by that did not like their
night you know one team sticking in the
AFC East really quick we didn’t talk
about the New York Jets ol fash what do
you think I I that’s what you need I
mean you just need to bolster the
offense keep Aaron Rogers upright I I I
don’t I don’t see anything wrong with
that there’s only one way the season
goes well and it’s Aaron Rogers staying
healthy I don’t hate it what do you got
from 83 I’ll go one more thing though
all the offensive linan that went in the
first round it got NE love and too baby
everything starts up front you can have
all the shiny toys on the outside you
can have the Ferrari you can have the
rollsroyce well guess what what the
engine is that offensive line they make
everything go the investment firm of
Hall Douglas Clark and ly says your
family needs sound inv Investments buy a
defense buy an offensive tackle that’s
absolutely right you guys have fun
tonight amazing time you want to do it
again tomorrow I would love that I I
think we’ll do it again tomorrow thank
you for watching the round one reaction
show presented by Nationwide make sure
you join us tomorrow we are going to be
around for all 5 hours of rounds two and
three it’s going to be fun you don’t
want to miss it thanks for watching and
we’ll see you tomorrow

  1. I 100% don't understand the falcons pick. How's that going to help you win now?…. Perhaps in 4 years when cousins contract is done.

  2. The bills clearly didn’t have any first round grades left and the players they do like they could move back to get. For moving back 5 spots to what they gained, in a deep draft. pretty good IMO

  3. Horrible Bears pick at #9. You are missing the boat. Yeah, the Chicago Bears have the "best WR group in the NFL" that will not win a championship. KC and Mahomes are a perfect example. If you are intellectually honest, it was KC's defense this year that won the Superbowl. KC had "pedestrian" WR's at best. Who are the top paid receivers now? None are 1st rounders. Poles easily could have gotten a speedster in a later round. Bears need another stud on the D Line. Do you want the Bears to be good, great or legendary? What happened to Championships as the benchmark of a good GM? Poles gave away this year’s second round pick. He did not need to. The Bears 2nd pick should have been BYRON MURPHY II. The best interior defender in this year's draft, Murphy brings an explosion inside that the Bears need. By Poles actions, he demonstrated he can build a good team, but not a legendary team.
