get ready Anglers this week we’re
talking about Florida’s favorite inore
Ambush Predator yep with the Sleek lines
fast speeds and that Infamous pop we’re
reeling in snook on the Florida Insider
Fishing Report which starts
[Music]
now welcome to the Florida Insider
Fishing Report presented by
Yamaha welcome to the Florida Insider
Fishing Report we’re your host Bri
Gabrielle and Captain Rick Murphy this
week we’re getting into some snook
action which I know you know your snook
stuff Rick I do sometimes you know Bri
but I’m really excited this week because
I didn’t give Dave a choice I said I
want to do the rigs of techniques cuz I
love snook so much you do you didn’t
give him a choice uhuh I said I really
want to and said no problem okay fine
all right before we get our captains on
let’s see what Dave has planned for us
at the CCA workbench frell it sounds
like nothing you never you’ll tell the
boss no whatever you want to do boss I’m
in I don’t have to do much I’m in I’m in
so you’re you’re Rick’s right-hand man
today actually literally he’s always
been my but it’s going to be all about
snookes all right let’s go reeling some
snook in the Ala equipment southwest
region with Captain Ronnie Houston who
has lots of options for you when it
comes to targeting targeting them hi
Ronnie how you doing well like always
guys it’s great to be here and you know
what things are really starting to heat
up with the last of these fronts for the
Snooks in the southwest region
especially down to the South but in the
southwest region you know there really
is a vast range of ways that catch snook
all year round day or night and when I
say 365 days a year there’s always
opportunity whether it’s summer spring
or fall you can catch them 365 days a
year from the Everglades back country
and back country Waters to include the
river and kaloa hatchee river now your
beaches your passes your Bridge spans
your icw docks and seaw walls Mangrove
shorelines and independent Islands you
know one of the main Keys though is
going to be that good moving current
with a combination of eddies a good
target areas but also possibly combined
with rock piles slowdowns and other good
places to start you know for me 40 to 60
lb L is going to be a minimum of 40 you
can go as high as 60 I even go as high
as is 80 but especially when you’re live
bait fishing now you can get away with
using lighter leaders especially if
you’re using circle hooks but live baits
include pinfish pilchards Herring and
finger mull are the most common but when
it comes to the artificials there really
are too many to mention but some of my
favorites if you’re targeting them big
Snooks would be your walk the dog lures
uh your 5 to 8 in paddletail swim baits
soft plastic shrimp and your 4in natural
color lipless suspending lures those are
four I have in the Box always those are
four of my go-to baits that I have
confidence in like I said there’s plenty
more you can use but when I’m out
targetting them those are probably going
to be some of the four I’m always going
to be using while I’m on the boat and
I’ve got a uh picture this week with CT
Derek dapping down in the Florida
Everglades snook by TN you guys are
looking to go catch some snook Captain
Derek is one of the greatest guys down
there to catch him and he’s a native uh
next uh on the UR side is the trout you
know this is going to be a little bit
different from key to Pavilion ghee
now your late April and May are really
the good times to catch some of the
biggest trout of the year to the South
there actually areas the snook will
start moving into along the outer go
Island so if you’re targeting snook and
you’re and you’re not doing any good
those are some of the areas you’re going
to be catching your laner you know your
laner trout points Deadwood noyer bars
now you can catch plenty of them right
now on the flats they will hold numbers
but if you’re looking for your loner
Gator trout that’s when you’re going to
catch him now if I was looking for a
laner gator trout on some of the areas I
mentioned you noise making corks like
the bass assassin NOA quick cork with
4in paddle tails you know bigger lure
your Berkeley top water lures your walk
the dog lures in the 120 SI or you know
guys are catching plenty of bait now
there’s a there’s a vast variety of bait
Ching live filters to some of those
areas but I’ll tell you what if you’re
really looking for a big one one of
those quirks I was talking about that
beats having a line you know a live pin
fish underneath and there’s a picture
this week with Captain Chris broom down
out of Goodland he’s got a 24in TR right
there that’s a pretty good size snook uh
trout right now now your offshore report
you know it’s been about the same the
coia if the coia keep biting we’re going
to keep reporting on them Rex and
artificial reefs all along the coast
right now from Naples to Fort Myers
Beach 5 to 30 Mi out now the weather’s
looking good for this week so your
lighter wind days seem to be best with
fishing pods on top of the water and
this is going to be great for Sight
fishing but if you get into some of
those areas not that there is and do not
see Fish on top especially I believe you
know late Thursday and the Friday we’re
going to get a West Northwest dropping
down live pinfish Herring or live
chumming filur to draw them up but you
can also use bright colored bucktails or
large swim base presented to the fish on
top and here’s a recent Kobe that was
just C wild fishing with missing fishing
chars out of Naples last uh speci is
going to be the permit no that bite also
still been great all along the coast
actually from Goodwin all the way up to
boa Grand you’re out of golf recks and
artificial reefs are still holding big
numbers and they are catching fish still
in the 30 lb rage if then the fish are
on top you know you can get away with a
lighter leader b six circle hooks but if
you’re dropping down you can’t see them
I strongly suggest 40 to 60 lb liters
just because you’re going to be closer
to the structure and the best baits
right now are going to be live crabs are
going to be your go-to bait and another
picture this week with Mission fishing
chartered with a nice permit now I’m
just getting back from the Bass Masters
elit from up in St John’s and one of the
main things I saw while I was at the
powerp booth everybody was inquiring
about that new one pump you know they
they introduced it at the Bassmaster
Classic they had it there at the powerpo
booth that was mostly what everybody was
looking at so guys that one pump I
played with that thing for about 2 and
1/2 years never had a problem so now
when you’re out there ordering dual
pumps mean dual power poles and you’re
worried about space maybe in a little
ski or somewhere in your bay boat that
can’t have two pumps check out that new
one pump I’ve used it for 2 and 1/2
years it works great and hadn’t fail me
yet all right thank you so much Ronnie
we’re going to take a look at the
battery tender hotpots from the
southwest region want to welcome them to
the show of course Bri in Shore the
tarpon look for them to scan the Horizon
along the outer Gulf Coast from marro to
boo Grand fish are moving in big numbers
and then offshore Mangrove snappas on
the wrecks and The Ledges in 55 to 75 ft
of water chumming and dropping back live
Pils and some small cut baits Bri yes
welcome battery tender all right in the
fish bites east region snook are beefing
up before the summer spawn and mullet
are on the menu get us ready holid you
know snooker my fish man the uh the inro
water temperatures are in the high 70s
and the white butterflies are crossing
the Indian River anytime that happens it
means a snook Bight there’s been great
pushes of Pils and mullet in Shore
that’s got the fish feeding hard on the
seaw walls and on the points uh in
places like the lockah hatche river the
IR River the St Lucy and Indian River
you want to start your day throwing top
water plugs or or saltwater processing
die Dappers or live mullet put them on
the seaw walls or you can fish Pils
around the docks and in the inlets um
Fort Pierce Inlet has a nice fish uh a
night bik going right now on the south
Jetty on Jigs and live shrimp on the
last of the outgoing first of the
incoming Tides when the wind’s blowing
there’s been a great night fight also on
the 10cent bridge in Stewart and on
South Bridge in Fort Pierce around the
turn and Basin area throwing big jigs
The Saltwater assassin emis Shad pretty
much the jig everyone’s throwing right
now on the bridges average snook right
now 5 to 14 lbs I got a good snook photo
that Bob gumer uh sent me he got this
nice uh overs slaught snook in the St
Lucy River on a live thread fin um the
other thing we got the Spring Run of
pompo still growing strong there’s
schools of fish traveling along the
beaches pushing up into the rivers on
the incoming Tides a lot of the fish are
in tight to the beach
right in the trough uh you can Target
them with everything from a live or
frozen sand flea to a a fish bites easy
flea or a strip of fish bites and a sand
Fleet combination that’s the best of
both worlds in the rivers the Fisher
been pushing on really hard on those
incoming Tides um you can drive along
till you skip a few then anchor up and
fish sand fleas or fish bites on the
bottom or you can throw pompo jigs or
jigging spoons with just a strip of fish
bites on them average pompo 1 to three
lbs I got a a cool pomping a shot that
Charlie Charlie debay he got that nice
pomping on the selfish Point Flats on a
jig and Fish Bites combination nice
let’s go offshore bub well you know
we’ve got the full moon in April this
week and that usually kicks off the Big
Spring Kingfish run in my area in places
like the Offshore bar out of Fort Pierce
the Six Mile Reef the luran ledge and
the drop off Jupiter in the Kingfish
Tournament last week out of four per
there were two fish over 60 lb including
a 67 pounder and five over 50 lb caught
and then we’ll also see those scho fish
showing Goods starting now and running
all the way through May with those big
fish in the mix Target the fish with
sardines gogg eyes thread fins pilchards
put them out on a number four wire
Stinger rig or a triple hook
monofilament Palm Beach rig if you’re
looking for a big fish pretty hard to be
that right now A a live 1 to 3 lb
blueish or really big blue Runner or
that fullsize one PB uh Atlantic manh
hatden average King right now 12 to 20
lb I got a shot that Don Cooper sent me
of a nice King Fish she got out of the
St Lucy Inlet on a live thread fin the
other bite which conides kind of with
the kingfish fight when those Kingfish
are schooled up and feeding hard you can
bet the mutton snapper or blow them and
eating the scraps that sink to the
bottom when the Kings cut a bait in half
they always get that second half goes to
the bottom muttons are all over them
they’re Gathering up in spawning
aggregations excuse me on this full moon
so it’s a good time to work the luran
tower ledge the 6 and 8 Mile Reef the
855 to 110 ft uh Reef out in front of
Lake Worth and muton Lead everything
from you know a pilter to a shrimp or a
crab but a sardine a cigar minnow a Balo
plug or a grunt plug are pretty much the
favorite baits and they tend to be a bit
leader shy so you want a a 50t 40 to 60
PB fluorocarbon leader 50 to 70 circle
hook average mutton right now is going
to be like 5 to 12 lb and I got a photo
from Captain Chris priton uh of a nice
mutton they got off Jupiter that fish
ate a grump plug that really is a nice
one all right give me the bass report
from this week bub yeah you know the
water levels are down on lake aobi and
it’s fishing really small right now the
majority Anglers we’re all working this
stretch of clear water on the west side
of the lake between Buckhead Ridge and
Lakeport the fish are holding tight to
any Shoreline vegetation they can find
whether that’s floating Cattail heads or
Reed clumps or even that Spar stuff like
the like the dollar pads um the thing is
there’s still a lot of big big fish
being caught start your day throwing top
water plugs or frogs listen for busting
fish they’ll kind of tell you where they
are uh if you can find some bluegill
beds there’ll be bass around the beds
and a uh you know like a bass assassin
Florida gumbo or that green pumpkin
Magic Vapor Shad or a June buug Blu tail
RSB worm that’ll really work around
those bluegill beds as a day heats up
chatterbaits worms rig wacky style seem
to be working the best live shiners will
get a lot of the big fish right now it’s
like a 10 to 20 fish morning with the
average bass 1 to 4 lbs and fish to 8
lbs being caught almost daily Hollywood
great report thanks for batting second
this week we’re going to go ahead and
take a look at the th Marine hotspots
we’ll see you next week Mike thank you
he said says that inore the triple
tailor on the channel markers in the
buoys of Indian River between the Jensen
Causeway and South Bridge in Fort Pierce
use live shrimp under a quick Cork and
then offshore mangroves snapers on the
reefs and 65 to 75 ft of water off of
for Pierce use pillur sand perch penfish
on a 38 oun jig head what you think oh
man how Mike loves his snook been there
for many of them he sure does yes he do
all right get ready for the shoreline

frell for all things snook at the CCA
workbench for fish bites training post
rings and techniques yep Rick’s going to
show us all of his Secrets exactly all
of them all of them every single every
single one take about three minutes I’m
to watch I’m tuning in you better too
we’ll be right back and then we’re
ambushing Captain Jeff paig in the star
Tron Central West Region who might also
share his secrets with you so make sure
you stay
hooked the Florida Insider Fishing
Report is brought to you by Yamaha

Chrome Fishbites Trading Post the first
choice of First Coast Anglers and dairy
deck food drinks
friends well
we’re here at the CCA workbench it’s
time for the fish bites Trading Post uh
Rigs and techniques Dave so you want me
to just get right into it or you I Reon
you know you were we were talking
beforehand there are pretty much two
types of snook fishermen we got the guys
who are out there trying to catch that
slot fish or you know just trying to
catch a bunch of snook catch his first
snook or whatever uh and then there’s
the guy who really wants to catch a
great big one so we’re going to go
through the little different things that
you have to do to do one or the other so
I think it’s really important to
understand that you know when the guy
goes on the flats Dave he’s going to
have a nice light tackle Rod cuz that’s
why he likes being there whether he’s in
a kayak whether he’s in a technical
Poland skiff whether you’re fishing with
Jeff pige and he’s throwing the small
pilchards you can’t throw a small pilt
with a heavy heavy Rod right so we’ve
loaded up this uh slammer with some
15lb X9 Berkeley line which is designed
specifically for casting it’s perfect
for a/4 ounce or 3/8 ounce jig head you
can change up the variety of soft
different Plastics uh whatever your
choice is you can throw whether it’s a
fish bites a bass assassin or any other
brand the cool part is there’s lots of
Snooks caught on 5in jerk baits for sure
right all right moving on if you want to
throw top water plugs then there’s a
variety of walk the dog baits but then
Savage has come out with this new popper
which is called the panic
looks a lot like a mullet on the surface
you just simply pop it now remember this
guys you’re not going to pop in weight
and pop not like bass fishing no it’s no
Paws in between it but they want to they
want to keep that popper moving that’s
why they use a pencil popper instead of
a lot of the other ones that’s correct
they also have a variety of of jerk
baits hard jerk baits like the Juke 100
you want to match your colors to the
area where if you got a lot of lot
mullets or Pils on the flats you can
certainly throw the Juke 100 if you want
to fish a little deeper remember this
there’s some baits that they make
Berkeley makes like the hitch Stitch 120
has a bill on it so that it’ll go down 6
to8 feet oh it’s 68t and Ronnie Houston
one of his favorites yeah I like the war
pig is the war Pig because of the
rattles and all the noise that it makes
but you know there’s a whole another
level of guys yes this is a 3/4 ounce
and it will crank down deep M Now Dave
you and I know there’s a lot of dudes
that believe in fishing for fish over 40
in that’s kind of the personal best or
even if you’re just pulling a a 30 or 32
inch out of a lot of heavy current and
stuff like a lot of the inlet guys do
you know when they’re they’re still
trying to catch a big one but they’re
trying to catch the upper edge of the
slot so they want to use some big gear
yeah and this is the rig that I used
when I filmed the show with Billy alram
over there in B Grand 200 lb Holo Core
100 this like this col this Holo core
here right ber Pro yeah and then 150 lb
or 180 lb liter right these fish are
fish that are around structure they’re
around dock pylons Bridges you’re going
to load it up with a big heavy Slammer
uh at 85 or even the
10,500 if you’re going to be fishing
those big giant live baits a 90 circle
hook hook that mullet in the nose you
know that’s going to work very very well
yeah well a lot of the guys that do it
around Sebastian Inlet where I grew up
snook fishing where I did my first where
I caught my very first one actually is
they’ll come they’ll they’ll jump down
off the off the uh off the uh gang plank
off the the walkway and get down right
on the piling and just drop it straight
down into the current you know with a
big heavy weight cuz you want when those
fish are in that uh that outgoing tide
usually is what they’re wanting to fish
right at the end of the outgoing and uh
the current in Sebastian Inlet and some
of those inlets really pushes fast right
so they use a big 6 8 o 10 oun weight
right 110 lb liter you know really heavy
you know they were using mono back then
when I was first starting 100 100 PB
monofilament wow and on a big pen
Senator you know and just dropping it
straight down and just you know trying
to jerk them out of that current so you
got to have that big gear if you’re
doing doing that kind of fishing
everything’s got to be super sized if
you’re going to throw plugs like this
twitch Reaper look at the size of these
hooks this would be the perfect size to
catch a big 40 incher right you know a
bass assassin could put a big jig head
in front of that uh you know there’s
just a million different combinations
the thing that you need to understand is
if you’re going to hook your live bait
you can either go through the nose if
it’s a thread fin like so through his
nostrils and that’s the way it would
look or if it’s a mullet you’re going to
come up through the bottom of his jaw so
that he can still swim let me show you
this and this Eagle Claw Nino is perfect
for that and then that way you have the
beef right and you can get a hold you
know once they swallows that and it
comes back out to the corner yep really
doesn’t matter what kind of leader you
got he did a great job he did it was
like a 7030 let’s go with that it was
good you participated all right the
Starr Central west region is a perfect
place to get your snook on so let’s see
what Captain Jeff Paige has to say about
the upcoming weekend hey Paige hey you
know come to f up a BRI you’ve caught
snook in the Starr Central West Region
heck yeah I did with the one and only
you and Rick and Dave and Rick and Dave
look at that you know we may not have
the big girls like Hollywood and Jimmy
Ross have over there in the Atlantic but
I believe that’s a different uh species
all together that Atlantic snook versus
the gulf snook but what we do have is
Rick mentioned we have quantity we have
lots of snook and we do get some 40 in
but they may only weigh you know 18 to
20 lbs where over there in Hollywood
region that fish can be up to 30 lbs so
you know right now this time of year
you’re going to have a good shot at a
big one and a lot of them are in the
passes and along the beaches on
structure and speaking of good times to
catch them this week we have the
afternoon outgoing Hill tides and that’s
a great great time to load up your Li
well with pilard thread fins pinish I
like using the big grunts like you and
Billy used in that show you mentioned
Rick and just letting them freeline out
with the tides pass the bridges pass the
structure in the path and be you’ve got
to be rigged up with big tackle like you
and Dave just talked about now another
way to catch them is in the bay like you
mentioned with live filters or with top
water plugs like that J Walker 120 in
that Chrome or bone pattern around the
oyster bars and mangroves on the higher
stages of the tide and then another way
we catch them in our region uh Captain
Dave paralo has built his whole Guide
Service on it is nighttime fishing and
this time of year live silver mullet
live Lady Fish and big select shrimp
free line with the current by the dock
Lights by the fender lights on the
bridge we’ll get you your bigger fish
now the last is uh I have two pictures
tonight the first is a big old snook
caught with Braden and fishing guide
he’s a young guy but he’s really
catching lots of fish Captain Peter
Smith and then my second picture Rick is
all grownup Mikey vanetti who back in
2009 or 10 did a Sportsman’s adventures
with you and Captain Stacy caps when he
was like 10 years old I remember Little
Mikey he’s not a little guy anymore I
love to fish with him he got a wife and
a baby oh all right we’ll be taking the
baby soon then let’s go in short Tarpon
speaking of Tarpon you know the tarpon
fishing is full on especially down in
boa Grand Pass and then up around Tampa
Bay and again this week with the hill
Tides is a good time you can get out and
dip your crabs you can cast net your
thread pins and you can fish those
afternoon outgoing tides and get your
tarping or like I like to do get out
there early in the morning and find
those fish laid up on the beach small
crabs pin fish under a cork will get the
job done and then a lot of guys Rick
have been staged up on the bars just
outside big Pass New pass Longboat pass
and even down around Stump Pass and
Gilla getting their shots with the fly
once that sun gets up I’ve got a picture
tonight of Captain Brock Herer again
who’s been doing really good this early
season in his 25 Pathfinder down in
Charlotte Harbor now moving offshore
mangr Snapper been real consistent just
like the red grouper anywhere from 70 to
110 ft of water on hard bottom areas and
lges now cut pieces of pilchards are
seemed to bring them up better than the
chum bags and then put a whole pilard on
and drop that down and it’s going to get
eight real quick don’t forget shrimp on
a jig head works pretty good too Captain
Eric white out of Venice Jetties has
been doing real well on his limit of
mang Snappers and that picture tonight
is of Dylan stoff of Sarasota with a
really nice man and my last species
permit and I mean since I’ve typed up my
report I’ve gotten more reports of the
permit holding on the wreaths anywhere
from one mile to Seven Mile and the cool
thing about artificial wreaths is you
can go to your tag office and get a list
of all of them whatever County you live
in and Captain Billy Alstrom that you
mentioned earlier Captain Jason stock
have been catching lots of permit not
only on live crab but Billy’s been
catching them on the upro flat jig as
will and my last photo tonight is of two
happy lady clients of Captain Fon Jason
stock with a real nice ston permit all
right Bud thank you so much we’re going
to go ahead and take a look at the D
deck hotpots from the Central West
Region he says that inshore afternoon
snook on the high outgoing tide on the
oyster bars in pomola and terraia Bay
live freeline Pils or thread FS are
going to be your best bait of course
guys and then offshore look for Kingfish
showing up in 30 to 70 ft of water in
the Gulf look for the big schools of
thread fence holding on all the hard
bottom structure throughout the entire
region Bri all right well we’ve been
talking about it but get ready for CCA
Florida star presented by Yamaha with a
new format more species and bigger
prizes catch a snook this summer be a

joining me now is Felipe and Laura 6to
from Castaway coffees are one of our new
sponsors so glad to have you guys Felipe
why don’t you tell me what in the world
were you thinking when you decided to
get into the coffee business well uh
Castaway coffee encompasses a couple of
our passions first and foremost uh pass
uh our passion for the water we grew up
in Florida fishing in the keys um and
just born and raised down here uh coffee
we’re caffeine addicts and uh third uh
packaging I was uh the my I’ve been
manufacturing uh Co coffee packaging for
the last 20 years and uh I had a lot of
relationships and now we’ve created this
beautiful packaging with the artwork of
Steve dooc you sure do now let’s talk a
little bit about the coffees that you
offer and what they come in you know
tell me about this variety of stuff so
we have uh both whole bean ground uh and
C cups um as well as our Nitro cold brus
we have everything from a light roast
Monsoon Malibar comes from India a
Guatemalan Delight uh medium dark to a
dark roast to our Cuban espresso I love
the fact that you guys are so passionate
about fishing now you’re the
conservation coordinator Laura so why
don’t you tell me what that means to all
of us here well we are all about giving
back we love our oceans so we basically
um partnered up with the CCA which is
what brings us here Rick um we know that
the CCA is very important to them the
teaching the teaching about everything
about the oceans habitat restoration
right so basically a portion of our Pro
of our profits goes back to the CCA
that’s awesome you know the that’s how
we met we were at a CCA banquet in the
Florida Keys and the three of us met I
love the coffee and then when you guys
shared your story with me said man we
got to get you guys on the fisher report
now your Sons do they are they involved
in fishing as well that’s a family deal
absolutely I love the fact that you guys
are creating the next generation of
Anglers as well as hopefully coffee
Brewers but more importantly where can
we find more information about this on
Castaway coffee.com all right well guys
if you have any questions you want to
taste something really good I’d suggest
that you might want to go there and
purchase a couple bags or even a box of
K Cups it’s going to work really well
for you
right Bri absolutely I so excited to
have y’all part of our team Lord knows
this mama needs coffee so yay we excited
to have you on board all right let’s
cast into the takoi keys region where
Captain Ridge Murphy loves a good snook
and sesh so Ridge talk to
us you know personally Snooks are one of
my favorites here in the AL construction
region they’re very diverse fish and we
get targeted many different ways you can
Target Snooks as simple as a chunk
mullet on the bottom with a 3 o lead a
60lb fluorocarbon leader with a 60 Eagle
cloth circle hook or you can get a super
technical and chaste belly crawling fish
in the mud sight fishing with a 10 lb
spinner and a 20 lb fluorocarbon
leader um with a weedless bath assassin
or any Berkeley hard baits the most
common way to catch soks in my region is
a live bait like a shrimper or pilard on
the jig head and the Moes or around the
island look for the runoffs such as
mango shoots or finger channels coming
off the flats and keep in mind they’re
also big fans of structures so snookes
can be targeted not only during the
daytime but also they feed very well
into the night some guys will even fish
from land and all throughout the keys on
the edges of the bridges throwing heavy
flare Hawks or big paddle tails that RNR
has to offer I got a photo of a buddy of
mine chip with his personal best snook
that he caught with me on a Berkeley
cutter 90 wow that’s a big fish rich
thank you for sending us this laid up in
the mud man we threw over to him and he
ate the crap out of it all right tell me
about the inshore tarpon fishing you
know tarpons are are still around all up
and down the bridges and the Deep
channels surrounding them use live
mullets under a cork or crabs with a 40
to 60 lb fluorocarbon leader with a 50
to 80 eagleclaw circle hook depending on
the size of the bait the backcountry
Lakes from the keygo all the way to Key
West are starting to fill up with
migrational tarpons sliding through the
basins and Pairs and strings you want to
throw light tackle Spinners and you can
keep it as simple as throwing a shrimp
to them and sliding it past his face or
you can get as technical as throwing a
fly to them and make sure when you guys
are in all these lakes and all these
little areas to just kind of keep your
distance from other boers there’s
definitely going to be a couple boats
around and try to pull the extra
distance to keep the piece if you can
good advice son tell me about the
pitcher that was a fish that one of my
clients caught on a charter he
unfortunately had to take the picture
I’m holding up the fish but it was a
nice little guy that we caught in the
back country looks good bub all right
tell me about the offshore fishing the
yellow tails are in 40 to 90 ft of water
with with using a mixture of chum of
oats and sand and Frozen Chum take your
time and using two rods or maybe even
one rod at a time using chunk baits fish
bites shrimps or small pills 20 lb
fluorocarbon lader even all the way down
to 12 pound um and just remember guys
May 1st is grouper season so you can
always have a bottom rod down while
you’re Yellow Tail fishing and just get
ready to try and find a couple groupers
cuz it’s coming quick and you’re going
to want to take some home from Mama you
got one species to go what do you got
bub uh we’re still having a mixed bag of
pic similar to last week but it’s a
little tough still the Mah are around
from 300 to 500 ft looking for debris or
structure um any type of floater on the
weed lines using live baits to keep them
interested and if you’re not getting the
bite right away you have a couple rods
down size light light leader or even no
leader at all just downscale a little
bit and that’s a good trick that you can
use to maybe catch some of these finicky
fish that’s some good advice bub thank
you so much you did a good report this
week we’re going to go ahead and I’ll
see you later at the house and we’ll go
ahead and take a look at your hot spot
from the Florida Keys region he says
ensure the snook are up on the flats and
in the potholes use bass assassin paddle
Tails gold spoons or gulps on a jig head
uh or you can simply simplify it and
cast a shrimp up against the mangroves
in those moates and then offshore yellow
tals are in 40 to 90 ft of water Chum
heavy and free line baits with a little
resistance on your yellowtail jig with
small chunks of cut bait or maybe even a
little piece of that fish bites I do say
so who raised that boy he is on fire I’m
so proud Daddy’s proud I got to say papa
is proud you’re beaming all right now
it’s time to check in on some
tournaments going on in the Florida Keys
first is the marathon offshore Bull and
cow dolphin tournament where a
guaranteed $18,000 goes to the top
angler who catches the largest bull and
cow dolphin combined next is the Nick
shean dolphin rodeo in Isa Mara which
raises money for college scholarships
for Coral Shores High School graduating
seniors then is the Bob farro Blanco
Tarpon tournament where teams fish three
nights between May 4th and 11th with
three different captains at three
different bridges in Marathon and
tournament proceeds benefit Ronald
McDonald House Charities and last is the
ladies let’s go fishing screaming reels
tournament where women Anglers gather
for two days of fun fishing offshore and
inshore in Isa Mara for more information
on these Keys tournaments and more head
to flak keys.com but you know what let’s
see where the snook are hiding in the
Discover Crystal River Northwest region
with Captain Jeff Hagman talk to us hag
how you doing snook can be found in the
lower half of my region all the way up
to about Cedar Key that’s about their
Northern point they go to Target them
they have been some fish caught north of
that though snook are very tial meaning
they like moving water water flow they
like to sit in places that are consist
uh where consistent Food Supplies is
going to be going by them by the water
um so they’re an ambush Predator so
targeting snook keep that in mind you
want to fish points Creek Mouse River
Mouse sand bars passes any kind of
structure um like Jetties docks Bridges
rock piles and even offshore wrecks that
get out in that 20 to 30 ft of what
there on the offshore recks too um as
far as baits go shrimp sardines pinfish
grunts are some of the favorite baits
for live baits as far as artificial goes
jerk baits lip plugs top water walk the
dog type lures and a and a sardine or a
mullet imitation works best uh they also
have great eyesight and Gil rakers that
can slice through
liters so a good fluorocarbon liter is a
must anywhere from 25 to 40 I’ve been
using trocar circle hooks lately when
I’m live baited fishing and I think I
can get a little less leader if they’re
a little leader shy I can go down a
couple sizes and that that hook gets
right in the front right in the lip of
their mouth and you can keep it away
from that that Gil raker so that’s a
little tip for you that works well also
in our region we do a lot of chumming
with sardines we’ll get on a flat or on
a mangrove Edge and throw some freebies
out and see where they pop they might be
in places you not thinking to check and
just a little bit Out Of Reach as a tide
take the baits away from you um and then
you can go down and catch it’s also a
great way to set cast to them when
they’re popping CH and there’s nothing
more exciting than
that so tell me what else has happening
in your region hag I got a red fish
report Captain Jimmy hudon out of Oona
Fish Camp before it’s red fish have been
uh pushing into St Joseph’s town uh
lower Tides you want to use gold spoons
mullet uh in the mullet schools right
now is where he spawning most of his
fish during the high tide the schools of
red will be working the mangrove edges
and dipping underneath the mangrove
trees cut pin fish cut frad
pins has been the top offering as the
fish tuck up up underneath the bushes
look for populations of Mangrove U
excuse me mullet underneath the
mangroves and you’ll find those bigger
fish moving a little bit to the north
Captain Mario costella T’s Charter out
of zel Keys reports good red fish bite
around the mangrove islands and keys
from Crystal River to Hom sassa he’s
working the mangrove islands that have
active mullet skulls as well with
overhang Mangrove branches he’s using
select shrimp on a 4 out circle hook in
the middle of the incoming tide light
leader has been critical up there cuz
the water has been gin clear he’s even
going down to 15 or even 12 sometimes to
get the fish to bite they’ve been
ranging anywhere from 20 to 32 in nice
tell me about Jim
Pard moving offshore Captain Jim Pa at a
good permit bite right now in the
Nearshore rex look for permit on the
surface pin it early in the morning when
the seas are calm drift across the wreck
or nearby structure with small pass
crabs Jim’s best method is using 6 ft of
25lb fluorocarbon with a three o or four
o circle hook and a little pass crab and
I got a
little selfie of Jim and a permit nice
out
there all right tell me what else you
got guys Captain Mike Anderson are real
animals out of Tampa Bay reports a good
king fish bite right now fish from
anywhere from 30 to 7 feet of water over
hard hard bottom AR V reefs and Rex with
bait on them cuz that’s where you’re
going to find most of your king fish
right now live blue Runners thread fins
and sardines have been producing a lot
of fish in that 7 to 18 lb range with
the occasional
smoker and Captain mikee turned into the
photo of a really nice teame fish they
got last week all right hag I’m going to
send you some Castaway coffee bub to
wake your ass up man you sound like
you’re asleep you and Jamie are pulling
double duty over there touching Tarpon
so be looking forward to come in the
mail I’m going to go and take a look at
theel marina hotpots for the northwest
region he says in Shore the red fish
bite is on the top of the tide cut bait
have been the most effective fish around
the oyster bars and then offshore the
red grouper bite has been good in 90 to
180 ft of water over the Limestone and
Ledges use squid and cut sardines for
bait what do you think you think that
accurate I’m going to give a perfect tie
five because that setup was just it was
perfect spoton all right get ready and
fish for a cause at the 18th Annual
Mother’s Day dolphin tournament
presented by licky Marine of marathon
the captain’s meeting is May 10th and

it’s that time for Dave to show us some
taco Marie new product love at the CCA
workbench Dave
kind of love we getting today well we’re
going to do some really cool things look
at this thing it’s it’s a popper or a
prop bait oh the hybrid hybrid we got
options two for Tuesday two for Tuesday
love it and then we’re seeing what the
front runner Boats North East Captain is
up to for the upcoming weekend Mr Tommy
daringer we’ll be right
back the Florida Insider Fishing Report
is brought to you by Ulta equipment

Maverick Boat Group makers of Premium

and
phobia well you know Dave we’re here at
the CCA workbench it’s time for the taco
marine new products and let’s just jump
in there baby well we’re going to start
over there with that eagleclaw uh brand
new Jupiter rig and you had something to
do with them getting this on the on the
Shelf because you know got a lot of guys
go through a lot of Jupiter rigs during
the day sometimes so this going to
really help you out if you never tied
one or if you want to just buy a couple
to go fishing in the inlet you know this
is is a great great rig for it you know
what this rig does is it keeps your bait
fairly close to the bottom you know a
lot of time a big snook doesn’t want to
come up too far off the bottom to eat
even a live bait so a Jupiter Bri rig
allows you to keep your bait close to
the bottom and Roll Along with the tide
and everything else uh or the you know
the the flow of current so that it keeps
your bait pretty close to the bottom so
you’re correct so guys the way a Jupiter
rig works is it’s laying on the bottom
and as you can see if you can zoom in
here as you can see the lure or or the
weight rolls so when it gets hung in a
crack your bait is up in the water
column like so and then we just pull it
and it comes out right that’s why it’s
so effective plus it can be used
offshore not just inlets oh yeah yeah
you can lengthen this and now you can be
using it offshore right it’s a 25 in rig
comes with three or 4 ooun I don’t know
how far does it go up we go up to eight
up to an 8 O rig so you know know
that’ll catch just about any big big
snook or anything else you want to catch
so yep go to Eagle claw.com and pick up
your Jupiter rigs now okay next we’ll go
ahead and do that one we’re doing the
Berkeley X9 braid I’m sorry you know
it’s designed you know to to just make
really uh maximum strength and to cast a
long way the way it’s made is it’s got
uh eight strands wrapped around one so
it creates a pretty round uh line
profile and that that perfectly round
profile allows it to be really smooth
and gives you those really long casts
and it you know it breaks you know I
think they have a even have a braking
strain on there the 15 breaks at 31 lbs
Max so and that it’s such a small
diameter you know that’s like a 4 pound
test mono diameter this is my favorite
line I promise you’re outcasting
everybody else by 20 yards yeah very
very round and smooth it comes in 328
yard spools even up to 2,000 yard spools
uh from 6 lb to 100 lb you know so you
they’ve got you covered so go to
Berkeley fishing.com to get that
Berkeley X9 braid I’m very excited about
seasucker here Dave well they’ve come up
with this you know the the add some
color to your to your boat what that
what that means is a lot of the these
color combinations they give to they
give away uh 25% of the sale price to
different charities this one happens to
go to Heroes on the water the this two
cup holder vertical from sea sucker
there and and you can put cans or
bottles in there you know these these
nice little uh rings they’re tum they’re
called Tumblr Rings they come with them
and they add a little spot of color to
your boat y that big suction cup on the
back there make sure that any vertical
service can be turned into a cup holder
and that giant suction cup you get it
down tight it’s not going to go anywhere
it keeps your drinks uh in that holder
where you put them absolutely go to
seer.cancer.gov
when you pull those wings out which are
a little harder for a reason you don’t
want to popping them out when you don’t
want to right and you don’t have any
fingernails do you no and the hook is in
my hand yeah that hook will go in your
hand anyway keep talking anyway when you
pull those little wings out you it turns
into a prop bait so you can just you
know pop and prop it so you can just
wind it back to you and that thing will
just blur blur blur blur blur and be
just like a prop bait yeah you know it’s
got those durable they’re uh nice uh
plastic blades that they snap in and out
and uh and it’s built for long cast as
well it’s got a big rattle CH chamber
and it will throw a mile it’s got that
giant uh 4X hooks on there from you know
very strong so where do we go to find it
Dave Savage gear.com all right guys
there it is man poer we covered it from
A to Z over H Savage gear I love a good
BOGO that’s great that’s a great one all
right the front runner boats Northeast
region is giving snook catching Vibes so
let’s get Captain Tommy daringer to give
us some pointers hello
Tommy hey Bri why every time when Rick
hit that the I want it
go anyways uh dad looks like a fun bait
you know here in the front runner boats
Northeast region um you wouldn’t really
think of us when you’re talking about
snook but you know every year it seems
like there’s more and more showing up
throughout the region now this happens
to be a great time of year to Target
some snook the water is already in the
70s and the mullet they’re showing up in
really good numbers now both those
things are going to be a major turn on
for the snook here now the better
numbers of snook are going to be from
Palm Coast down to Daytona and I’ve had
some great snook reports coming in from
the Flagler Beach and tamoka areas now
Captain Chris Herrera from Palm Coast
fishing.com he tells me that on the
warmer days the snook have been up
Shallow they’re chasing shrimp and small
mullet in the creeks and the canals now
Chris said he likes to toss a top water
plug when he’s got low light conditions
then he’s going to switch it over to a
saltwater sus and seash Shad or a jerk
bait in the pearl color during the day
when that sun gets a little bit higher
now Chris also said a big freeline live
shrimp has been working as well and the
nighttime snook fishion has been great
from Palm Coast all the way down to Pon
emlet Target the lighted docks in the
bridges When the tide is moving you can
use a diving plug a live shrimp a finger
mullet or a pinish any of that stuff is
going to work there’s a lot of smaller
snook under the lights but there are
some bruisers in there as well
especially around some of those bigger
Bridges now there’s also a good SN snook
population in Jacksonville and even in
St Augustine some of the larger the
longer Creeks like Pablo Creek San
Sebastian pelis Creek those are all
going to hold some snook they seem to
like areas that are have some brackish
water now we can also look forward to
some bigger Snooks showing up at the St
Augustine and mananas inlets this summer
um as well during the Mullet Run and
into the early fall as well and I’ve got
a photo here the Jacksonville snook
whisper that’s what I’m calling him
Eddie cabler he’s the man he sent me
this photo of a big old snook that he
caught near downtown Jacksonville Eddie
he’s the man when it come to catch in
these big Northeast Florida Snook moving
to Red Fish guys man what a great red
fish bite we’ve had last couple of weeks
this is just such a great time of year
for fishing just being out on the boat
with the weather being so nice but you
know what the red fish being fired up to
eat just about anything they come across
that’s pretty awesome as well the red
fish have been chasing top water plugs
at first light
that Berkeley jwalker I talk about it
all the time in the mullet pattern
they’ve been absolutely crushing that
thing look at that looks like a real
fish doesn’t it sure does after the sun
comes up a little bit you might want to
bust out the cast net and grab some
finger mullet and my clients have been
catching some nice upper and overs slot
fish on the flats by fishing either a
live or cut mullet around Oyster Bar
edges and drop offs on a jig head or a
fishfinder rig now like I always say
look for areas that are holding big
concentrations of bait toss your mullet
right there
and I’ve got a picture here uh this is
my client Chris Mitchell with a chunky
red fish that ate a Berkeley jwalker top
water plug and let me tell you watching
that red fish pile drive that thing was
awesome and guys speaking of big red
fish don’t forget to sign up for that
CCA uh star tournament starts on May
25th there’s over
$500,000 worth of awesome prizes you’re
not going to want to miss out on that go
to
ccfl star.com sign up for that thing now
and now let’s move offshore the kobia
you know the kobia season is still going
strong throughout the region it’s been a
little windy this week but the Northeast
wind should have some of that Cobia uh
make their way back from the north into
our area because they had moved pretty
far north I think now there’s been a
bunch of Mana Rays along the beach but
you really do have to look hard for one
with the Cobia on it I would highly
recommend having some live bait like a
mullet a pogy or a shrimp to toss at
those coob you know most of those fish
have been tossed at a few times already
and they’ve been shying away from a lot
of presentations but guys let’s hope the
ocean gets calm so we can get out there
and have another look or two before they
all head north for the summer now
staying offshore the tuna bite has been
great the past couple weeks throughout
the region I spoke to my buddy Nate
Creer from Team Creer fish he’s been on
a Hot Tuna bite he tells me they’ve just
fished they fish just inside the ledge
you know they’re looking for birds and
bait the usual things they’re going to
pull some Balo and some plugs and
they’ve been catching some big black F
Tunas now I also spoke to a couple other
captains uh that been making the long
trip to the other side of the stream in
search of some yellow fin Tunas now just
about all the guys I talked to got into
some ni nice yellow F in that 20 to 30
pound range and it looks like it’s a
good time to go if you feel like making
that long haul and I’ve got one last
picture here this is Nate creeder from
Team creeder fish with one of his big
black fin Tunas they caught east of St
Augustine that’s a pretty fish that is a
pretty is a pretty fish there Tommy
thank you so much we’re going to go and
take a look at the strike zone hot spots
from the Northeast region Tommy says
that we’re going to look for inore look
for the feeding and busting red fish uh
first thing in the morning on the low
tide uh in the back of the Creeks
throughout the entire region and then
offshore the black finen Tunas are just
inside the ledge and the yell fin are
over on the other side all right hey

fishing welcome back back and just in
time because we’re headed into the
casava lodge Southeast region where
there’s snook Galore along with some
other offshore funds so Captain Jimbo
Thomas get us excited for the weekend
you got it Bri and hello Rick and Dave
yep snooker found in just about every
body of water throughout the Southeast
region you find them in all the inlets
they can also be found around a lot of
the rock Jetties off the beaches around
the bridges of the
icw docks peers Mangrove creeks and
shorelines and even in most of the
freshwater lakes and canals throughout
the region now the fishing methods and
Tackle they do vary dependent on the
depth of the water how much current
there is and also what kind of structure
you’re fishing around and for most snook
fishing applications like to medium spin
or casting tackle with 30 to 50 lb
floral ler will work I like to fish a
little lighter I use a pin 4500 spin
Fisher loaded with 10 or 12 lb test now
arnar tacle flare Hawk jig or a bass
assassin jig head with a live shrimp or
rubber tail those are old favorites
along with swimming and surface lures
and also all types of live baits and
lately the RNR tackle line through
swimbait and mullet color has been red
hot but when you’re using live base you
want to use some circle HS cuz a lot of
these snook are being released now
there’s been some nice slot and overs
slot fish caught fishing the shadow
lines over the bridges and icw from
bokeh Inlet North to Lake Worth Inlet
the best fishing has been on the top of
the incoming tide live mullet have been
the best Bas uh fishing up the North End
as well as live shrimp and top water
lures and then the inlets have also been
productive fishing with li baates in the
evenings and early mornings you want to
fish on the last of the incoming tide in
the first two hours of the outgoing and
I got a photo here this is my
10-year-old niece Ava Thomas with her
very first snook and she’ll have a hard
time beat that one cuz it an overs
Slaughter
nice all right let’s go in sure bu so
tpon fishing remains good just like it
has been for the last few weeks uh
fishing in the inlets around the icw
bridges in the lit docks and also in any
of the deeper holes throughout the area
especially in biscane Bay best bite’s
going to be in the early mornings and
then into the late afternoons into the
evenings want to use live shrimp Med ium
siiz live crabs mullet pinish and even
swimming plugs you want to look for any
obvious current Ripper color changes
that’s where those tarp are going to be
feeding both the incoming and outgoing
tide has been good just so long as you
got some moving water and a lot of these
Tarpon especially in the inlets and
around the bridges have been up in the
100 lb range now moving offshore
sailfish have been coming through in
pretty decent numbers the last few days
there’s been a few double digit catches
made in the last week mainly because
we’ve had really good conditions like
blue water and North current but those
conditions They do change overnight so
hopefully have we have those conditions
tomorrow best fishing has been in 100 to
250 ft of water we’ve been using live
herrings and gogg eyes fishing them
under the kite and if there is not
enough wind you can get bites drifting
or slow trolling those live baits but
definitely the kite gets a better PR
presentation and I believe you get a lot
more bites on the kite now we been
fishing with 40 lb floral leers and 50
to 70 circle hooks and we’ve been a
little light on leaders mainly because
there’s been some black Pon around but
if they’re if you’re just looking for
sailfish mono or floral leader up to 60
lb will work and there’s also been a few
multiple hookups and if you can get your
bait in front of any free jumping sales
you get a good shot at getting a bite
there got another photo here and this is
one of the many t uh sales that we
tagged in release in the last week or so
and then like I mentioned the Blackman
tuna bite has been consistent with fish
in the 15 to 30 lb range and they’ve
been in the same areas as those sailfish
Tunas have been biting throughout the
day but early morning and late afternoon
and just before sunsets when they’re
going to bite the best I like to use
herrings but live Pils and gogas will
also work fishing them under the kite
you want to use some floral uh lighter
floral leaders if you’re actually
targeting those Tunas and circle hooks
and that’s been working for us and we’ve
been using as light as 30 lb floral lers
which like I said isn’t a problem with
the Tunas but it might be a little uh
iffy on the sales but there’s also been
black been tuna caught on the troll
using small feathers and 150 to 400 ft
of water but the larger fish are
definitely being caught on the live base
I got another photo here this is a 17lb
black twin tuna that ate a Live hering
this past weekend yes he sure did Bud
all right Jimbo thank you so much great
report we’re going to go and take a look
at the Southeast region hotpots Jimbo
says look for the nighttime Tarpon and
snook in the inlets and around the
bridge the lit Bridges using live and
artificial baits and then offshore fish
the edge of the Gulf Stream late in the
afternoon with live baits in 100 to 200
foot range for a mixed bag of Kingfish
black fin Tunas and maybe even a
sailfish love a good mixed bag all right
word is this SE sucker Panhandle region
has a lots going on this weekend so
let’s see what we’re fishing for with
Captain Pat Denine Patty pants hey Bri
how how’s everybody doing I tell you
what um you know snook have been caught
in our area but unfortunately they’re
not abundant enough to Target in the fan
Hill so really no sense talking about
those guys but it is a great time of the
year for speckle trout and some of the
biggest trouts are being caught right
now I mean the springtime is when the
big big girls are caught Folks at Blue
Water Outriggers in St Joe tell me the
trout are out on the creeks are out of
the creeks and canals where they winter
and they are being caught on the Pache
grass bottoms throughout St Joe Bay in 3
to 5 ft of water a live shrimp under a
cork is very effective the pin fish
haven’t become so bad or grown up yet
you know early in the season but the
shrimp should last long enough for a
trout to find it but bass assassin sea
shads on a quarter oun head or or a
plastic twitch bait riged weedless with
a worm hook they’re also very effective
electric chicken is always a good color
for trout or really anything with
chartreuse in it the grass Flats north
and south of the bars Canal are really
adjacent to any you know wintering area
you know outside of the creek mouse
outside of the B Mouse they can all be
very productive there’s a photo of a
27in trout that fell for a shrimp under
a cork on a charted with lucky Chucky in
Nar and Rick Chuck’s been sending me
pictures every day a trout they’ve been
catching since that’s cuz he just got to
prove that they were there just the bad
conditions is why we didn’t catch them
but the red fishing was great tell me
about the sheep heads yeah yeah staying
in Shore while it seems to be a little
late the sheep head fishing continues to
be good the Pensacola pass and Pensacola
Bay with his deep water and rock piles
keep producing nice catches of sheep’s
head live shrimp or filler crab is a
beta choice you want to fish them either
on a short Carolina rig or a sheet set
jig fish close to the structure you know
close to those rocks or those filings a
little moving water is best sheeps that
are running up to and over 5 lbs and
then moving offshore you know while
amberjacks they’re not open for Harvest
until May and probably since they aren’t
open for Harvest they’ve been closed for
a while most of the metal W wrecks are
loaded up with amberjacks the barges the
tugboats any High Relief spots are the
best a lot of these big metal wrecks and
and barges and whatnot they’re all
public spots so they’re easy to find
coordinates for you know just get online
and or you know they’re public
information live Hard taals are the base
of choice freeline them on the shallow
on preline them on the Deep shallower
spots or use a slip Sinker rig for the
deeper spots uh we’ve been fishing the
barges and other metal structures in
less than 90 F feet of water and catch
an Amber JAX on top with top water lures
and poppers which is a pretty cool bite
additionally we’ve been teasing them up
to the top with a hookless lure and then
switching them over to the fly which
even makes it more fun uh when you do
hook up drift off the wreck and fight
your fish well away from the structure
or most likely you’re going to be
practicing catching feed as the Sharks
and jewfish to been Prett Savage you
know if you just stay right on top of
the structure most likely your fish is
going to get eaten uh there’s a photo
there of Dan Griffith of Salt Lake City
he was in for the weekend fish with me
for a day and Aid fly fisherman and we
were doing the the bait and switch with
the with the teaser and the Fly Rod and
and he had a really cool time doing that
it’s a nice nice fish right there wow
that’s guiding good job you know finally
off short Rick the the Spanish macro
fishing continues to be good throughout
the fan handle while Spanish they are
being caught in the Bas and Inlet they
are most abundant in the Nearshore Gulf
Waters basically from the second Sandbar
out to just beyond the color change
trolling is the most effective way to
find them and catch them most Charters
are pulling four rods two on the surface
and two with a small planer to get it
down a little bit a Christmas tree rig
which consists of four brightly colored
tube or straw hooks followed by a small
Clark spoon a Goa lure or a jig is the
most productive setup basically it gives
you Five Hooks per Rod you can often
catch Spanish two or three at a time the
Spanish mackerel are running one to
three lbs and while you’re out there
trolling the bar or just be on that you
know for the Spanish keep an eye out for
the elusive kobia you might get lucky or
more probably you’re going to bump into
a big school of Jack rille which can be
readily caught on top water lures all
right thank you so much Pat we’re going
to go ahead and take a look at the hot
spots from the Panhandle region Pat says
that in short the daytime sword fishing
has remains very consistent in 1200 to
1600 F feet of water used skirted squid
or strips of strip baits near the spur
and the step and then offshore The
Flounder in Port St Joe Bay uh fish bull
minnows on a Carolina rig along seaw
walls and at The Jetty Park or the
channels and the potholes around Black’s
Island so Bri yes what I got a story for
you what he was referring to is we went
up there and we were supposed to film a
Spanish mackerel and a trout show
potentially of course but guess what
ends up up happening we had bad weather
Big M on it yeah yeah we did and so we
we ended up doing this beautiful redf
fish show along the beach but I thought
maybe if we could catch some trout so we
called lucky Chucky right so we run 30
miles to the west down towards Pensacola
go trout fishing we cast our arms off
for 4 and a half hours and those trout
weren’t buying it so now Chucky’s proven
that he’s the trout guy sending in the
pictures every week should have been
here yesterday they’re here yesterday
not when you were here was still an
awesome trip it was great to see Chucky
and we went and had great lunch pensaco
is such a cool place it is it’s so
beautiful and like red fish off the
beach H don’t feel B for you sorry all
right our snook in here is almost
through but we’re checking in with
Captain Jim Ross in the real legend
Central east region for our last stop so
stay hooked and get ready to reel we’ll

catch today’s powerpole tips are about
all the new enhancements to the
powerpull charge power management
station we added new hardware and
stronger relays in it to make it more
durable for you out on the water the
latest free software updates improve the
onoff feature so when you don’t have the
ability to plug your charge in you
simply turn it on and off in the app we
also added a sweet hibernation feature
which you can set a timer when your
powerpole charge hibernates so if you’re
keeping your boat in a high and dry or
storing it at a storage lot where you
can’t plug it in the power pole charge
no longer moves power and protects your
batteries when you’re away from a plug
we enhanced the engine slider priority
so if you have a lot of 12volt
accessories running you simply move that
priority over to the engine side and we
will charge and hold your engine battery
higher than ever before so you can run
multiple fish finders live wells and all
those other accessories you added to
your boat we also integrated with Garmin
so you now can see your charging
priority all day long right from your
Garmin MFD you can choose where you want
the power to go when your engine’s
running you can also initiate an
emergency start should your Outboard not
be able to start right from your Garmin
fish finder all these new features are
all laid out on the power pole website
so go to powerpole tocom to learn more
and that’s your powerpole
tip always innovating yes they are so
user friendly so easy I love it all
right we’re getting some good and
accurate info as always in the real
legend Central east region with Captain
Jim Ross Jim let’s hear it well it’s
going to be a good time for guys and G
like to go catch snook because my region
you know the water temperature needs to
be between about 75 to about 82° for the
enough to really start to get fired up
and guess what that’s exactly what it is
right now in the real legend Central
east region so the bites really good
right now we’re getting them on live
cokers live mullet pogies uh you putting
those on a fish finder or knocker rig
you know around the Jetties and inlets
in the daytime and then at night
especially those outgoing tides at night
seems to be working really well with
your with the swimbait guys you know
that 5- in aremis Shad is one of the
best that you can throw at night it it’s
just it IM Ates those perfect size you
know mullet that are coming through that
Inlet and that Green Hornet color right
now has been really hot this past week
you can also throw diving plugs from the
shore or you can troll them behind a
boat if you’ve got some decent Seas out
there especially at the pon Inlet and
the Sebastian Inlet and most of our
snook are running about 30 to 37 in and
so you know a lot of them need to be
released but I do have one here that Pat
caught that she got to take home with
her and uh that’s a you know nice little
slot siiz fish and then Garrett’s got a
little bit bigger one here in this next
photo and that’s more likely what you
guys and gals are probably going to
bring over the gunnel because a lot of
those fish are pretty big right now now
also staying inore the red fish bite
right now especially in the northern
mosquito lagon has been really good
right now like I said there’s water
temperatures in the low to mid 70° range
the fish are getting happy cut baits are
really working well uh on the especially
if you’re fishing like on the incoming
ties and mullet Lady Fish uh even even
pinfish Chucks on a split shot rig a
little two out or three out circle hook
on the windward Island Point seems to be
really good for slot siiz Reds and then
once the tide starts to drop and go back
out especially right around Edgewater um
North oakill and Edgewater the Fishers
are kind of grouping up into these
little small pods or little war parties
if you will especially where there’s
some grassy areas and they’re kind of
getting out of the current and I was
talking with Captain Matt Lee of Code
Red fishing charters uh do.com and
Captain Matt says when they’re doing
that he likes to throw a light beer
colored 4in assassin shrimp cocktail
catch those fish or uh sometimes if the
water gets a little dirty in some of
those spots he’s throwing a little
popping cork with a live shrimp or an
artificial shrimp under it and he said
you know what this mullet are starting
to show up up there and the last two or
three days he’s actually gotten some
walk the dog style plugs uh you know to
to get those fish to get fired up first
thing in the morning got a picture here
of one of those fish uh uh a couple of
those fish Captain Matt Lee has been
getting here lately nice let’s go
offshore bub black v tuna uh Anglers are
trolling small feathers lip diving plugs
um getting decent numbers of black funa
and 170 to 250 ft of water now there’s
really no defined color changes edges
weed lines to troll around this week so
a lot of the guys are targeting the
black fin over the bottom structures
like the hard ridges like the 27 fathom
Ridge the cones that’s out in 230 to 250
ft of water and they’re looking for
birds is working over the water and
they’re trying to find the areas where
those birds are kind of turning diving
typically you know like like you would
see that activity and you go okay
there’s something going on there work
those areas thoroughly and the black fin
are anywhere from about 10 to about 20
pounds right now in those areas and then
my last species Rick is triple tail and
uh got to get you and Miss Bri up here
to do some triple tailing sometime
because those calm days we’re having
here the last couple of weeks here have
been pretty good and Anglers are site
casting to these fish in the near Coast
the waters anywhere along the central
east region get your beos out that’s a
great pair of polarized glasses to
triple tail fish with I like the green
mirror myself they seem to work really
good and you get good contrast where you
can see the triple tail sometimes
they’re really black like the one that
you and I caught that one day down in
the keys Rick y um but other days
they’re light yellowish and when they
that light yellowish or can color those
green colored bejito really make them
stand out and you can see them really
easily you want to throw a freeline live
shrimp to them and most of our fish are
running about 16 to about 24 Ines right
now got another picture here with Amanda
who has got a nice one that she caught
the other Daya Amanda what is she doing
over there fishing with you what she she
cheating on me and Hagin that’s what
she’s doing she comes over quite a bit
yeah she brings her dad with her oh man
I wish I could get on that list thank
you so much great report thanks for
batting clean up for us this week bub
we’re going to go and take a look at the
rhan Marine system Hotpot from the
central east region jimmmy says in Shore
red fish in Northern mosquito Lagoon uh
fish cut baits on the windward points on
the higher stages of the tide and then
sight cast to PODS of Reds along the
potholes or depressions in the Flats on
the lower stages of the tide and then if
you want to go offshore slow trro live
baits on a wire Stinger rig for those
big King mackerels on Pelican Flats a
day and Chris Benson Reef I’m sure you
could get an invite if if you wanted to
oh oh come on that man she’s one of my
favorites Amanda’s one of my favorites
too she’s a real down Earth G and she
knows how to fish yeah yeah she is all
right our reports are coming to an end
but your fishing is just beginning so
get out there this weekend to catch some
big old Snooks and we’ll be right back
to tell you what we’re fishing for next
week on the Florida inside our fishing

Bottom already tonight next week we’re
talking group
first W that’s going to be a fun time
you know what else is going to be a fun
time Rick that we’re not going to be a
part of but we’ll be watching from afar
Dave is surfing in the fish bites
Shoreline Showdown to be the ultimate
I’m going to be surfing surf anger yeah
I’m going to be doing it yeah you’re
going to do it are you going to win yeah
I’m not going to say that I’m going to
try hard you’re going to try hard I I
just hope to catch a nice PPO that I can
take to the wave you will yeah Dave I’m
excited for you so is it accumulation

Hey Rick thanks for showing me how to catch Snook❤❤❤❤
Wade fishing just inside stump pass. Water is so clean I’m using a white spook crank bait and having a blast in 2 to 3 feet of water. Trout and reds also hitting the same bait.. great show guys thnx.
