I was recently fit for a new driver during a lesson with my swing coach. I spent two weeks hitting it on a ST+ and the spin numbers were crazy low. Like 1300-1600. Went back to my coach worried the fit was. He put me on GC Quad and the numbers were absolutely dialed. Same club, same ball, same player.

He confirmed that this is happening a lot and ST+ is consistently low on backspin by 25~30%.

What ball were u using? I find when i hit anything other than tp5 pix or callaway soccer ball the spin numbers are way down.

    Yes I’m not surprised.

Unfortunately skytrak and the skytrak+ are not on the same level of a gcquad and in my opinion not even on the level of the gc2, gc3, and uneekor eye mini.

I’d recommend upgrading your launch monitor at some point if you want more accurate results.

Well in my opinion this isn’t any different than other LM having to have dots placed on them to have more accurate results. I find my plus to be spot on on what I see at the driving range on and the golf course.

Honestly, I know GC Quad is pretty reliable but seeing that carry distance with the paired ball speed I’d be a bit skeptical. With that ball speed, you aren’t carrying it 280.

Let’s check that strike location with some foot spray on the face. It’s easy to loose a couple hundred rpm from a high strike. Likewise try striking it lower and see if the rpm’s go up.

Also let’s get some standard deviation metrics. One shot from quad and two shots from skytrack isn’t really a good way to compare. You would need maybe 5-10 from each and toss out any really bad strikes.

ST+ owner here – I found that with driver and other woods that if I follow the recommendation to put the label or putt markers towards the camera, i get super accurate numbers.

I dont hit driver on my set up that often because of space. Usually just long irons and down, but if i had to guess it has everything to do with ball speed. Your smash factor, ball speed, and club speed are pretty damn good. That ball is only in frame for like a fraction of a second and if the camera/software doesnt have a good frame of reference, its going to guess.

Try teeing up with the label facing the camera. See how that does.

Did you mark your ball or bother to face the label so it can calculate your spin more accurately?

Has anyone noticed any difference on ST+ with what type of tee is used? My buddy pointed out that the only other variable with my ST+ vs GCQ experiment was the tee. The QCQ had a durable plastic tee that stays in the mat while the ST+ is using those big plastic cone tees.
