we are live at keer Lakes Golf Club just
outside Chicago as the final round of
this KPMG women’s PGA Championship comes
down the final stretch of holes and the
reason that we join you at this stage of
the championship is because the tea
times were moved up today in
anticipation of some thunderstorms that
are expected to roll through the area a
little bit later on this afternoon so
far so good though but let’s get you
quickly caught up with some of the
highlights from earlier to set the stage
so yanu looking for her third major
title began the day with a three-shot
lead she double Bogi the second but then
has bounced back impressively Bird’s at
the sixth and the seventh to get back in
control at 11 under the story of the day
nasah Oka 19 years old fired a 64 today
it’s the lowest final round in the
history of this Championship she made
two Eagles one on the front nine the one
you just saw drop at 11 and then added a
birdie at the beginning of the gauntlet
the tough three hole finishing stretch
for her last to help get her to that 10
and her number she’s been in the
clubhouse for a while waiting to see how
it’s all going to end this was used
third at the par five 11th a beauty that
skips in there that produced her latest
birdie to get to 12 under she bogeyed
the 13th to drop back to 11 under in the
meantime Sun Hune Park who was the
co-player of the year last year here
with so Yu has been just hanging around
her latest birdie there coming at the
14th to continue a bogey free round she
is a 10 under she’s within one so we’ve
got one in the clubhouse with hota 10
under and Park still working the course
as this is the action at the par 515th
so young Yu gets it up and down from the
bunker to save par and remain at 11
under Dan Hicks with Paige McKenzie Gary
Coke and our 18 Tower we’ve got our
announcers spread out throughout the
course including Tom Abbott with a call
over there at 16 huge drive for Angel
Yin over 310 yards lucky not to go in
the water can attack the flag and she
does and what should be a very difficult
hole but making it look easy a lot of
players have struggled here at 16 that
water comes into play off the te and the
second shot let’s get back to 15 and all
that’s left for Park to remain a 10
under one back of you both from South
Korea this is a 24-year-old who a lot of
people think could be one of the best
players in the world by the time her
career is over maybe the best ever it’s
saying a lot but that’s how much respect
people in the golf world have for sun
park who was the Rookie of the Year as
well last year as the co-player of the
year with you so there’s you on top hat
Oka continuing to wait it out with a 64
she won last week in Arkansas with a
final round 6 3 just 19 years old from
Japan so what a story it would be she
began the day nine shots back it would
be the biggest final round comeback in
women’s major championship history if ha
Oka was able to hang on and somehow win
this thing this thing’s really gotten
good well hanging on is going to be a
theme for the remainder of this round
these final three holes playing so
difficult the wins today the highest
that the women have seen all week long
and it Gary just getting it in the
Fairway getting it on the green seems
like a struggle for some of these women
coming down the well it’ll be critical
uh soan Yu has played The Gauntlet in
two underpar so far this week uh s Yun
park has played it in one underpar so
both have done very well in this very
difficult stretch of holes but that’s
before the final round
pressure so you in search of her third
major hat Oka her first major trying to
go back to back in park in search of her
second major after winning the US
Women’s Open last year and there is the
trouble off the tea over there at the
16th yeah it really demands Paige that
you hit a quality shot I mean the
Fairway bunkers are no good and
obviously the water to the right you
must avoid it’s very deceptive off of
the tea it looks like you’re straight
away towards the green but then in the
landing area it jogs to the right so the
tendency is to want to aim just right at
those bunkers but it’s a little
uncomfortable knowing you’ve got to play
it out to the right she got
driver no this is going to be a
three-wood for but even with that club
she’s going to have to gear back a
little yeah the water long of the
Fairway is what she needs to be careful
of here as we take a look at the top
Tracer and watch this ball
flight that should be absolutely perfect
well we hope Got to Be steady here that
might be just on the
edge okay that fairy Gary has been
running out a lot today I mean if she
was any further right that would be in
big trouble no so on you is she clubbing
back here K she is uh just like Park and
it’s because there’s an absolute Wind
Tunnel right down this hole playing dead
down wind and with the wind yesterday
and today that the Fairway is really
running out even Lydia Co was close to
going into the water she’s not one of
the long hitters
well that was struck
beautifully a theme all week is how this
golf course has dried out received so
much rain prior to the championship
that’s playing so differently than the
practice rounds that these women’s uh
experienced early in the week yeah very
very heavy rain here on Tuesday just
softened the golf course and it has
dried out day by day now Brook
Henderson and this is the first time
I’ve seen her hit anything but a driver
off this
te
tough day for Brooke started at 8 under
with High Hopes she’s all the way back
to 5 under now and out of contention you
would
think it’s got to be careful whoa whoa
whoa whoa that could be a tricky
lie Angel Yin for her 22nd birdie of the
week
takes her to eight under pass so just
think about that if she could minimize
the mistakes where would she be on that
leaderboard nasah hatok leads the birdie
category with 20 well second behind
Angel Yen with 20 so Angel big Talent
just 19 years of age needs to limit the
[Music]
mistakes 16th hole and the final round
of the KPMG women’s p G Championship
final three
ball and it looks like Brook Henderson
will be first to go that ball in the
hazard
Mark if you remember Tom she drove it
into the hazard yesterday but had a
beautiful lie that is not the case at
all today so the issue now is not
getting it over the water she can get it
over the water but I’m not sure how she
will land it on the green and stop it on
the green and obviously you can’t bounce
it up onto this green
we’ve got 10 under in the clubhouse
she’s five under that mean she’s got a
hole a shot at some stage she may as
well just go for
it yeah I don’t think she has much
intent to play for second place really
knowing
Brooke we saw her miss a few putts
coming down to the end of the round
yesterday page do you think that has an
effect on her overall game cuz she’s not
played like herself today you know I
mean her putting the last several days
has been a bit off she had a great
putting round the first day but Friday
31 putts yesterday 32 and and today uh
seemingly still cold with the putter in
no doubt has an effect uh you can gain
confidence from seeing a lot of putts go
in but certainly you can lose confidence
when you’re seeing pets not fall I think
the other thing that that has happened
Paige is it’s affected her her sort of
timing and Rhythm on everything she
seems to have slowed up ever since she
started putting a little p
well the interesting other interesting
thing Mark is not only has her routine
slowed down a little bit her putting
stroke actually picked up uh she had
such a nice smooth stroke early in the
week it seemed like she was pulling it
back too quickly let’s go to 17 whil
they figure that out yep Tom and this is
the hole that lies just ahead middle of
this Gauntlet Angel
Yin who has been mixing birdies and
bogis for the most
part leaning it out to the right trying
to swing it in with with the right to
left
wind just misses the bowl where the hole
is
located and back to
16 what are they going to do Mark well
you have to get the ball up in the air
time this is a terrible lie if you don’t
hit it high enough the wind will
actually knock it down and it would come
up short in the water I have to think if
she clears the water this will end up on
the back
hill
likely taking it out a little left of
that whole location there is kind of a
false front all along that whole right
side of the green that would be you know
the front side for
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
her oh that was fraction away from being
good and a fraction away from being
being
bad still better than being in the water
took a funny bounce didn’t it as we take
a look at the
strike just hit right into that bank but
had enough Pace to move it
forward now soan Yu is in a great
position here K well she is and with
this plain
downwind she has no more than nine iron
I got to think it’s between a nine and a
wedge
trying to carve it a little steady to
get it to sit
softly haven’t seen I haven’t seen too
many putts hold from back there it’s a
quick putt but back into the wind has
fed a few players the birdie would go a
long way wouldn’t it she leads by one 10
under is already posted now what’s
happened to San hun Park a little long
off the
tea have just had my first look at the
ball I’ve seen worse over
here she is inside the hazard line so
we’ll not be able to ground her Club 109
yards to the
hole it’s as dangerous a 109 shot as
you’ll see
though okay if it’s me I’m not
control4 no no got to go stra pen if you
go left you’re going to then get fir
part of straight up P it’s a flatter
place to land it
on yes control this buub you’re going to
get there anyway so don’t worry about
that not a problem and all day long our
control numbers have been
perfect straight out of the challenge
with hitting a partial shot as she’s
going to try to do is it often will take
the spin off and Mark like you said if
you’re playing downwind you have the the
hazard of getting the ball knocked down
if you don’t have enough spin on it
especially coming out of the rough
that’s also going to take some spin off
I would think hting it harder would be
better I agree I like what her caddy
David Jones said too go right at it or
even a little right of the flag because
the green is so pitched from left to
right that the farther left you go the
firmer it’s going to be and the bigger
bounce it’s liable to
[Music]
take
this got to go a
little I don’t believe it’s in the water
but it’s hard to say it’s inside the
hazard line no question but could be on
some long grass in there could be a
championship hopes swallowed up by one
of the Lakes at ker Lakes we will find
out let’s take a look at the strike just
a little still a downhill Li do you
think that made a difference paage I
think she caught quite a bit of grass
ahead of it I don’t think it was caught
heavy I just think that there was not a
lot of spin that she was able to gather
almost looked like the ball was too far
forward in her stance if the ball had
been farther back it would have been
easier to get the club the ball sooner
let’s see if we can see where this
finishes from above great
angle oh it’s going to be right on the
edge it’s going to be right on the edge
of the water it’s obviously in the
hazard but can she play
it drama all the way to the end here
that’s what we expected at keer Lakes so
yanu leads by
[Music]
one the water okay so Sun Cy David Jones
is in the water trying to tell his
player I don’t even think you need to
play like a bunker
TR is below or above the surface of the
water time okay nothing under the gr
pass that side go go sit up yeah the
ball is really sitting up if she plays
it like a bunker shot she could whiff it
go right under
it I I don’t think it’s that hard a shot
I think she should actually sort of turn
the club down a little bit try and hit
it clean not an explosion shot if you
want to open it up a little bit and land
it a little bit further up the green no
problem but if you if you open it you’re
going more up the
Green Park is one shot
back playing alongside the leader so has
a birdie P to
[Music]
come just step in but don’t step in and
don’t move anything when you step in
just take your normal step you’re okay
don’t worry about it you take your
normal
steps rules official there last few
groups have their own
official no
problem
I probably better can you see where the
water
in I’m a little surprised Paige that she
wouldn’t try to get maybe one foot her
right foot more into the water to where
the club is not going to be so far
behind now there’s a little bit of a
shift there but
uh I agree contact’s so important and
getting as close to a normal stance as
you can 100%
[Music]
could be had chances right
here oh what a shot the right time
unbelievable and that’s about as much
emotion as you’re going to see from Sun
Hume Park and it took this incredible
shot to produce it anything could have
happened here Tom I mean that could be
the shot that you look back on that wins
of the championship who knows but as you
say lucky that the ball was above ground
and then she plays this
shot it wasn’t that far away from
challenging to go in the Hole Sun Park a
powerful player we know how fast she
hits the ball and using has strength
there now brookerson yeah I know we’ve
had a hole in one this week Tom but for
me that was the shot of the tournament
right
there Henderson now I think is going to
play a little
bump good job saves the
four should remain at five under in a
tie for
seventh soan Yu has a really important
putt here I mean two shots will go a
long way with two holes to play Tom you
you got to kind of think that was a bit
of a shock to use system I I was
wondering what she was thinking about as
she was sort of calmly watching um Park
before
hitting that seemingly impossible shot
which she placed up there I mean it’s
going to take soan Yu quite a good
effort to get inside of that Mark
because her putt is so fast she may not
be as calm and poised and collected over
this putt maybe playing it a little more
conservatively as well well does she
know that NASA is in the clubhouse so
you been watching the leader board she
takes glances at it and I asked her
caddy if she’s apt to watch the
leaderboard and he said yes he’s been
staring it more intently she sort of
just casually looking at it from time to
time is this a this is a kind of pot
that could get away from her if she gets
too aggressive k no
doubt you don’t want to leave it short
of course but she’ just like to Cozy it
down a few
inches she’s had the dead weight touch
all week and
again two shots ahead with two holes to
play and that is just an Immaculate
touch she says when she putts well she
scores and plays well that is the key to
her Golf and there is so much confidence
right now with that
clock oh was just perfect for Speed
wasn’t it if it could all putt like that
the game would be so much easier
yeah still two very difficult holes to
go can’t celebrate yet but two shots is
a nice little
margin only player without a bogey today
can she save
paw and now she has to not have a shock
to her system after us
pod this might be the up and down of the
year
amazing absolutely
amazing fabulous stuff from Sun
Park little tap in from Brook Henderson
who just a spectator
now well could be a great celebration
for so youngu who turned 28 years old on
Friday last night I had a chance to talk
to her she won her first major seven
years ago in that US Women’s Open and
told me that she has continued to mature
and evolve as a player
since sometimes I you know really
struggle with my game and then when I
struggle um I know I had to do a lot of
stuff on my own but a lot of people
started to uh help me out to make me U
feel more confident and then just cheer
me up so I think I just went through a
lot of things since I won US Miss open
and then I finally um I mean I
definitely feel more mature but at the
same time I feel like um I know I really
love to play golf like I like I I can
say like golf is just my
destiny and she plays it with an
elegance and charm so well-liked by her
fellow LPGA Tour players and players
from around the world they’ve got so
much respect for so young Yu who’s as
popular as any player out here on tour
page yeah I’ve seen some of this
Evolution on her game uh she’s taken
ownership of it you guys have talked
about the technical changes she’s made
with Cameron McCormick but more than
that she was when she was working with
him he would ask her for feedback on
every shot so she learned her misses
more so she could then take
ownership well a couple of difficult
holes left obviously water in play on
the t- shot here water in play on the t-
shot at 18 and the second shot at 18 so
uh even with a two- shot lead got to
execute will say the 17th has played a
little easier today than it has uh in
some of the other rounds with that hole
location and wind coming from the right
so the players can start the ball to the
right keep it away from the water and
let the wind work it toward the whole
location have been 10 birdies made here
uh so far in this final round and how
about so unused performance on this
so-called Gauntlet it’s been not a
problem for her now three under in these
final three holes at keer Lakes for the
week with that latest birdie dropping at
16 SP
will and Dan her play here on this hole
helps when you approach this te no
guarantee but having positive memories
knowing that you’ve birdied it once and
made a couple of pars certainly helps on
Championship
Sunday
oh the wind really pulling that over to
the left oh no
unbelievable my
goodness that is the one place you can’t
afford to
go this whole plank so difficult with
that right to left cross wind
and yeah yeah you should their ball
should never get left of the hole though
you’ve got to start that thing at the
right edge of the
green of the misses we’ve seen so far
this week all of them have been yep yeah
we’ve touched on
that it is a little reminiscent of Mike
Reed at the 1989 PGA Championship Double
bogging this hole had the championship
in sight not to say it’s out of you
sight but Reed double Bogi it put
pressure on him to par 18 to get into a
playoff with Payne Stewart but uh ended
up one shot short and now par that
unbelievable up and down at 16 looms
even larger and the pressure builds for
her and again H to Oka in the clubhouse
at that 10 under number as
well she has got a six iron she was
standing right there and saw the exact
line that you played on Us’s ball
started 20 ft right of the hole and
still ended up in the water the wind is
very strong and straight across now and
park has been the most mistake free
player of anyone especially the last
couple of days 28 holes since her last
bogey that is some impressive golf on
this golf
course
[Music]
this started on the same line as
Hughes but she’s holding it online
beautifully
played what kind of Swing are we going
to see here could be
huge in favor of the 24-year-old Sun H
Park
anyway and earlier in the week we talked
about
it looked like Brook Henderson’s week
again to win her second title in this
event in the last three
years had that two- shot lead late in
the round yesterday things began to
unravel with the Putter and just has not
been able to get anything going in this
final round either 100% right now back
way it should be so you want to
finishing that starting
continuing to hear the advice
and words from her sister Britney on the
bag this is a lot of Club of five iron
so she’s going to sort of have to kind
of chip it I think won’t be a big
sweeping hard shot she’s playing it way
out to the
right plays a natural draw and with that
wind moving right to
left yeah well
done well Park is an even more
interested spectator and so is nasah Oka
who was about an hour and a half teed
off before the last group began the day
nine back there she is trying to go
backto back and go back to- back final
rounds of 63 what she shot at Arkansas
to win that in 64
today it would be again the largest
round comeback in women’s major
championship history if somehow she’s
able to end up on
top again some weather expected to come
into the area in just a little while
from now so you’ve got all sorts of uh
front type of winds that are continuing
to swirl around kilder Illinois just
outside Chicago there’s a weather radar
right now and some things could pop up
even before the heavier stuff which
isn’t expected for another hour and a
half or so a reason again that they
moved the tea times up and went off both
T’s with
threes so the third
shot still coming across the water for
you
[Music]
right still a lengthy approach shot at
140 yards she’s got to be thinking to
get up and down get out of here as
quickly as
possible could still get out of here
maintaining the
lead
[Music]
basically plane 30 yard
shorter now you could almost bet that
that was going to be right of a
hole so we’ll have that for bogie sun
park is in there for a potential birdie
and a potential big swing the final
holes in this KPMG women’s PGA
Championship after finding the water off
the te so yunu who came to this 17th
hole with a two-shot lead trying to get
out of here and minimize the damage has
a putt for four but not a likely one
that was going to drop for bogie as
nasaha Oka continues to make close
attention of the proceedings sunun Park
playing with you also at that 10 under
number
well K what about the prospects of this
going down she has really leaned on the
putter this week has been so very good
with it but what are the prospects here
well more than that she just has to
lean on the fact that she has worked
very hard to focus on the positives and
not the negatives and that takes so much
mind control to forget and forgive
yourself for making a mistake and now
let it go completely and think about
holding this putt problem is it’s a
similar putt to what she just had at the
last toll in that it’s downhill going
towards the water will be very quick and
she cannot afford to be too frisky and
and run the risk of three putting from
The Fringe
here we’ve seen a couple other players
from this position have this putt and
every single one of them left it short
almost giving it too much respect
probably cuz it’s downhill and downwind
I can understand that
happening well she has had 24 one putts
this week so this has been her best
friend in the bag this is the first time
that I can recall all week long that she
has broken her normal routine so you can
tell she is not totally comfortable with
what’s going on first time we’ve seen
her back off after she’s gotten over the
ball getting ready to hit a
putt yep respected it as Kay said didn’t
want to get too frisky with it so that
for
double which is going to bring you back
to 10 under the number now the Oka and
Park are at and park has a chance to
take the lead with a big swing her way
here if this goes down for
bir but Brook
Henderson who was hoping to celebrate
Canada Day in a big way today is first
to
play Park will be a very interested
spectator on this put because Brooke is
going to show her not only the break but
the pace from back here a little bit
which could be
[Music]
important drops in off the
edge and Henderson says wish those would
have fallen a little ear for me yeah
sometimes when you quit trying quite so
hard uh they go in easy game do you care
uh our friend Roger Maltby favorite
line okay so Sun Hume
park with a chance to take the lead in
the championship to the final
hole I didn’t really think that
Henderson would show her the exact line
but she could probably s sell her putt
to park right
now she has looked good with the putter
though I suppose if there’s a reputation
at all of any potential weakness it
would be with this club right here under
the big
pressure she has changed several things
this week and most notably she’s
standing further away from the ball and
from this angle you get a good look at
the fact that her eyes are well inside
the ball so she’s got a nice Arc to her
stroke the club head a lot easier to
swing when you’re your eyes are inside
the ball
line good
looking grabs the
edge maybe just an ounce too much speed
but uh really well struck we’ve seen the
only two fist pumps all week for sunun
Park who really is kind of an
emotionless type of player underneath
that uh hat pulled close down over her
eyes but you saw what she did at 16 when
she had that incredible up and
down and then thought she had one there
she lives for the chase reputation is
that she loves to try to come from
behind on big
championships so it looks like we’re
going to come down to the final hole
with two players at 10 under and Hoka in
at that
number as that drops
in four
[Applause]
double still over there you had a double
in the early portion of the spa round at
the second and it looked like she might
be
skiing out of control but regain control
with birdies at five or 6 seven and 11
and then the last at 16 so now for
par to make it a three-way tie for the
lead and two on the
course left to negotiate the tough
18th two players from South Korea the
co-players of the year last last year
head down to the 18th at 10 under H Oka
64 hoping she has a chance to have the
biggest final round comeback in women’s
major championship history so as they
make their way over to the 18th let’s
give you a little sense of what happened
this that Miracle par over at 16 or cat
David Jones in the water trying to give
her the best sense of the feel and the
shots he had to play and that would be
an incredible up and down but then what
does you do
after Park is psyched about it up and
down to save par rolls it in and takes
control for a twoot lead as she headed
over to the par 3 17th but in the middle
of the gauntlet both shots given back
with this errant swing of the club
offense ended up a double bogey to drop
back to 10 under her second of the
day and so you’ve got uh Park and you
and H Oka all at 10 under and we’ll take
a little breath here as they get ready
to tea off the 18th and remind you that
you can light up your holiday with
America’s biggest celebration Macy’s
Fourth of July fireworks spectacular
featuring Blake Shelton Ricky Martin
Keith Urban and Kelly Clarks and it all
starts live at 87 Central right here on
NBC and we’ve gotten a little head start
on the fireworks of Fourth of July on
this first day of July and let’s set up
this 18th hole
as you can see it’s a very intimidating
t-shot carrying all of the water dog leg
left around the bend and shooting back
into the green that whole location is in
the far right hand corner of the green
it’s going to be playing downwind for
the players as they
approach and as Brook Anderson tees off
we’ll show you her t-shot with our top
Tracer technology Brook very aggressive
grips down on all the
gloves and holding nothing
back is that going to get
through
and it’s okay daunting task facing the
two players on the 18th T at 10 under to
try to get to 11 there’s only been one
birdie here at 18 all day long it has
the feel of a playoff we’ll
see David Jones just continuing to get
more and more involved with his player
can you see from the
bunker red
fure
green he is
the not line
n okay remember yesterday she took a
line that was obviously left of where
she intended to take it it turned out to
be fine but uh you want to start it at
him
what you want to
do and let the wind turn it just into
the
edge good I like that play that’s the
work this line is pretty far right for
this club driver I would think the
danger here would be to go through with
this club on the line they’re talking
about which is pretty far
[Music]
right
[Music]
wow looks like she’s at it again ring
the left side and cutting a big chunk
off that’s huge unbelievable that is by
far the longest t-shot we’ve seen here
at 18 today and that will leave a short
iron and Paige an opportunity to maybe
get the ball close there to that whole
location shouldn’t be anything more than
a wedge she’s such an aggressive player
everything about watching her gets me
excited coming down the stretch she
always is taking risks I know she’s
emotionless but inside she’s got an
incredible sense of of style and how she
plays this be an interesting t-shot now
for so young you we touched on it
virtually every Mist we’ve seen this
week Paige has been a pull and you
cannot afford to pull it again here Gary
she just put the driver in the bag and
took out the
three-wood following that tremendous Act
of uh Park is hard to follow she’s got
to stick to her game plan but I think
her caddy thinking maybe a similar
situation as the last hole if she misses
it all or she flares it out a little to
the right the wind will gobble it up and
and knock it
down in any way you cut it she’s going
to have a much longer approach into this
green with this club in her hand no
doubt very much the two contrasting
styles of play and
player looking at a Target much further
right hit it solidly the wind moving it
well to the
left not a lot to spare but F now good
[Applause]
position you knows how tough these
majors are to win the previous two have
come to a playoff as well we’ll see
about this
[Music]
one well probably not on her mind at
this moment but if so yanu was able to
win this Championship which would be her
third major she would rise back to
number one in the world a position that
uh she got to a week before this
championship last year and talking with
her last night she says that’s important
I want to get back to that number one
position and that’s uh just one of the
reasons why she changed her swing with
Cameron McCormack at the beginning of
2016 but a lot of work left
here at this finishing hole 18 tied with
Park who she’s playing with and nasaha
Oka has just gone to the practice te to
warm up an anticipation of a potential
playoff there she is after posting 64
lowest final round in the history of
this
[Music]
championship
so it’s Henderson who’s away in the
threesome well she’s got a couple of
dilemmas here page I’m really not sure
what her mindset is right now but she’s
facing a hard
shot looks to me the play would be up
through the center of the green I mean
aiming at the KPMG logo that M or G
inside inside the inside the water know
you’re going to have a lot of release on
this you’re not going to be able to fly
it all the way back to the
hole she’s got 170 yard so it’s a long
shot Li is good so what do you how to
run
out really the only way I could see it
getting close to the hole would be to
hit a fade from
here not a shot we see her hit very
often too and just kind of go up down
there yeah like left edge of the bunker
what you’re talking about yeah and then
it’s up there too so it should help it
[Music]
stop good yeah I love
[Music]
[Music]
that
that’s about as good as she could have
done absolutely very smartly played yeah
landed in the perfect
place again just been one birdie all day
today 70 players have taken a crack at
it and it wasn’t until Sarah Jane Smith
made birdie just a short time ago to
record the very first three here at this
18th Dan because of the nature of this
dog leg left soya you is only 9 Paces
behind
park with actually a better angle right
K yes as much the water yep she can uh
comfortably play this uh just left of
the flag and try to let it drop right
again the hard thing is the wind keeps
picking up and then dying down a little
[Music]
bit get up
wow just got up there yeah but
importantly gives herself a putt at
it and it’s uphill and as good as she’s
been
putting don’t put it past
her seems like Park is ready to go
there’s always been heavy and long
consultation with Jones but she is ready
to go I think she’s got a shot in her
mind I think she’s going to try and win
it right here she’s got 126 to the hole
and this stage you would have to expect
you to make
[Music]
it now with her strength and speed she
can get this thing up in the air and
actually get it to
stop just a little left of the
flag comes back yeah there you
go couple of Birdie putts coming up for
you and park at
18
will this 64th edition of this historic
Championship come to a close here at the
72nd hole you see the board there you
and park at 10 under Hoka has posted
that 64 about an hour and a half ago and
now is gone to the practice te to see if
there will indeed be the 12th playoff in
the history of this
Championship so of the three ready for
their birdie putts it is Brook Henderson
to play
first right about the 25 ft range and
this would be a nice way to end Canada
Day for
[Music]
her wide all the way way
wide interesting to see Paige if that
putter is in the B with her next uh
start she’s not afraid to change Putters
and uh given the last couple of days at
going so cold it wouldn’t surprise me if
we might see a new one rooking a tie for
six still coming into this Championship
have finished no worse than a tie for
fifth so continues to play majors well
and really continues to play this
particular
Championship very very well so another
high finish for her and now it comes
down to these two to see if we’ll go
extra holes or somebody will win it
outright so yunu first to
play and Paige you have to think that
these players practiced a few putts in
this area knowing that the flag stick
would be back here one of the days if
not on Championship Sunday without
question K in those practice rounds you
always guess where that whole location’s
going to be and no doubt they knew this
was going to be important one for
[Music]
birdie
[Applause]
it was another good one but that will
give Sun Hume Park an
opportunity to win her second major
championship after winning the US
Women’s Open last
year so you was in a 10 under
and it’s come down to
park and she gave this a
Run Park and David Jones looking out in
the
background the golfer that has earned
the nickname tiger over in South Korea
because that is the kind of skill set
that she has in the expectations that
have been heaped on her
shoulders might be a little too much but
none nonetheless it’s expected to be one
of the big stars in this game before her
career is over again just getting things
started at the age of 24 so this to win
her second
major I would say for a 16 or 17 footer
this is the one that you would want as a
right-hander may go just a little left
medium speed
only it’s pretty much right back into
the
wind
really the steadiest round of anyone
bogey
free only bogey free round on the
course and if she can end it with a
birdie she’ll emerge as the
[Music]
champion
that
close and so a playoff it will
be
threeway between the two South
Koreans but Park grabbed an edge there
just a fraction
off and the third major of the year will
go to a playoff just like the other
two
seems like an awful lot of thoughts
going through this young lady’s head now
with this club that’s got to be a
frustrating event for her she hit the
ball so well every day yeah led the
field and green hit in regulation and
disappointing on the greens especially
the uh final three rounds so Henderson
with her 74 a tie for six and nasah OA
knows it’s official she’s got some more
golf ahead of her sudden death
playoff
as they’ll go back to the 18th hole if
necessary back to 16 and 17 as they’ll
dance around that gauntlet again but
they’re headed back to the par 4
18th you park in hat Oka whose hopes are
alive of registering the biggest final
round comeback in women’s major
championship history great respect from
these players and the two combatants in
the final group Park and you showing Big
Time
[Music]
respect we mention this as being the
12th playoff in the history of this
Championship it’s also the fourth in the
last six years as Park and H Oka and you
make their way back to the T at 18 so
we’ve got time for the Innovative shots
of the day presented by ul and what a
day it was for nasah Oka Two Eagles
today already made one at the seventh
and then her second shot here at the par
five 11th yeah only two Eagles on her
season up until today and you mentioned
it on this 11th hole reachable for very
few players who gave herself this look
yep down the hill little bit of left to
right movement read it absolutely
perfectly the only Eagle recorded on the
11th in this final round that was coming
off for only bogey at the 10th got her
back to seven under and kept the Run
going and then Park how about this at
the third for her first birdie of the
day she began the day four back of the
leader U and then the very next toll
made it back to- back birdies to quickly
get to nine under and after u double
bogey the second she was tied for the
lead at that
point and then H Oka and her birdie
attempt to 12 after the Eagle at 11 just
keeping it going to eight under six
under on the round at this point and
thenu again trying to recover from that
double at the second got it back in
order with her t- shot at the sixth
this looked like it had a chance to go
in so a birdie there for you to get the
10 under and then another birdie at the
seventh erased that double Bogi at the
second so she was back on
track things looking a lot calmer for
her she was out an even
par
36 but then hot TOA earlier at the
13th with a beautiful save for the
bunker to stay at 00 keep the momentum
of her round going parred the 14th and
then at the tricky par 515 her third
from
123 shot required sliding it into the
wind gave herself a very good look on
this par
five so she made that to get to nine
under for the championship seven under
on the day and then this at 16 the
beginning of the gauntlet what Gauntlet
birdies it to move to 10
under ended up parring 17 and 18 for a
64 and then you take an aim at that par
5 11 there Beau wed shot here from 100
yds controlling the spin to near
Perfection that moved her to 12
under and then a couple of holes later
few holes later at the 14th this was
park with a beautiful putt to get to 10
under after you had bogied the 13th to
drop back to 11 so they were just one
apart and then the how big Bill
reminiscent of Bill HW what he did at
the FedEx Cup a few years ago at East
Lake just a miracle up and down for par
there and then you at 16 on the same
hole perfect speed once again Paige just
drips it into the hole gave her a
two-shot lead with two holes left you
seemingly in
command and a seven iron Got Away Paige
so uncharacteristic because she was so
in control all day of every facet of her
game so park and her par there at the
same hole that they were tied they both
parted the 18th both had birdie attempts
at the 18th in regulation to put it away
Nei one able to get it done
congratulations thank you very much the
the playoff will work as follows we’re
going to start by playing 18 uh if we
don’t have a champion then we’re going
to go back to 16 play 16 17 and 18 and
we’ll repeat that order and till we have
a winner I’m going to ask Lynn KPMG to
hold the Hat up and go ahead and pick a
number out for the order of
play hold that hat
down all right pass one yep two and
three great you can play as soon as
you’re ready good luckk
you so we’ve got some interesting
scenarios here you’ve got an Oka again
trying to pull off the the largest final
round comeback in women’s major
championship history you’ve got so
youngu not only trying to win her third
major but trying to become the number
one player in the world and Sun Hume
Park continuing to try to live up to all
the expectations and win her second
major in as many years here the last two
years H to Oka with the honor it’s been
a long time page since that 64 so you
always wonder how much of that momentum
and Magic you’re able to kind of conjure
up again without questioning a young
19-year-old uh she’s riding High and a
lot of momentum coming off of a win last
week has shown a lot of guts playing
Under
Pressure this is pretty pressure packed
now it’s very intimidating t-shot we got
triple coverage out there we got Jerry
folz with hata Oka driver same Club in
regulation she hit through the
Fairway into the Fairway bunker this one
further right than it was in regulation
but the wind is a little more hurting
than
earlier nicely done positioned very well
I know Paige whenever I was in a playoff
I loved hitting first cuz I have thought
if I could do just that I can then apply
some pressure to my
opponents so park is next and Mark
roling will be following her in this
playoff well I was right behind Park
when she and Davey were talking about
the line about 15 minutes ago and she
actually ended up starting on a line
left of where she intended it turn
turned out
fine but I I believe if she goes too far
right here this ball will easily get
through the Fairway this is an
aggressive Play It’s one that she does
not need to make could hit three-wood
here without any
problem and let’s see if it avoids that
last bunker asking it to sit down
and
okay
so it’s parked obviously with a distance
Advantage among the
threesome so you hit a three- wi earlier
in
regulation and she’s going with that
club again Dan and hitting last like she
did coming to this tea in
regulation did not end up clearing the
hazard by much because when the wind
started pushing her ball to the left it
creeps closer and closer to the water
see if she goes a little further
right and she
does nice little draw that’s a good good
position everybody in pretty good shape
at the par 4 18 first playoff hole
sudden death hat Oka trying to make
history today win her first major in the
process Park trying to win her second
major and you trying to make it three
different Majors everyone trying to get
their name on that coveted
trophy KPMG women’s PGA Championship is
brought to you by the Capital One
Venture Card what’s in your
wallet by Rolex founding partner and
official time piece of the KPMG women’s
PGA Championship by Volunteers of
America helping America’s most
vulnerable and by
KPMG another playoff and the third major
of the year for the women our aial
coverage again presented by Club gloves
TRS ballistic number one in professional
golf and the new standard in American
made luggage as
well you park and hot to
Oka all in pretty good shape at the 18th
you’s got a great angle here will be
first to play
I light the cut
sure y
absolutely do it it is not going to be
as nearly as easy to get this close like
she did in regulation she’s 24 ydd
further back and she’s also coming off a
more severe Downs slope so that’s going
to take the seven iron that she’s taken
out and turn it a little more into a six
iron so for that reason she’s going to
hit this
softly and with the ball above her feet
ever so slightly uh the tendency is to
move the ball from right to left which
doesn’t fit this shot particularly
well no thin that’s got to go that’s
thin barely made it over how close was
that wow well she’ll take it when she
knows she got away with one big
time I think she knew she needed to work
that ball left to right off of that lie
and just didn’t quite get solid contact
but just
enough to give herself a look actually
it’s a great place to put from that a
little bit of right to left
break P Oka is next Jerry 154 yards for
NASA going about her business very
quickly
here that was a little seven iron and a
very aggressive
line wow the stick and
Hoka takes it to the back
Fringe and that’s the challenge with
this green today as you can see firming
out for these players especially those
players coming off of a little bit of a
downhill eye trying to get it to stop in
such a narrow area of the green only 10
PES
deep helping Breeze doesn’t doesn’t make
it any easier kind of shot is this for
Park Mark I I think it’s the toughest of
the three shots actually she’s on a Down
slow as Paige said and playing out of
the intermediate rough the LI is not bad
but it will take a lot of spin off
it she was the only player in regulation
that we saw get any spin on this green
was able to actually spin it back from
the
Fairway tying shot lands Softly
just on the green you couldn’t have
played it much better than that in
regulation she had a putt to win this
Championship she might have
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
another ready for the third shots of
this sudden death playoff at 18 to
decide the KPMG women’s PGA Championship
and it will be so young you to play
first couple of similar putts that you
and hat Oka faced in that The Fringe or
the first uh intermediate cut is pretty
close to the ball so Yu has a little
more leeway probably two and half Ines
between the ball and where the rough
starts but it is going to be a factor
overall a pretty straight
Putt and just pours it in the back what
a
birdie after hitting a poor
approach sometimes you never know and
you shows us
again in a major championship all that
can
happen by far one of her worst shots
coming in but a bir3 to put the pressure
on Park and H
Oka she had backed away a couple
previous putts coming down the stretch
that she looked so decisive over it
absolutely took no time in pulling the
trigger when she was set yeah no
variation in the routine that we had
seen all the way up until the 17th hole
in regulation and then as you say backed
off at 17 and
18 like Koko was experimenting with a
hybrid there to maybe bump it down in
her situation close to The Fringe she’s
been through both clubs actually had the
putter out first then went to the
hybrid at first I thought maybe she was
going to do it for her best chance to
Nestle it down there but now that
doesn’t
matter this one is going to be turning
left there’s a little bit of Fringe
behind the ball but it’s not horrible
because the ball’s actually slightly on
top of some of
it how about Hoka though coming off
eight one putts to end her
round in
regulation needs another one here to
stay
alive it too hard waa
so is out of
it and park the last player for you to
dodge to win her third major and become
number one in the world but certainly
you would think in this similar position
Gary Park knows exactly what this putt
does well I think Mark ring isn’t this
almost The Identical line that she had
in regulation just a little closer yeah
it’s almost the same putt as she had 15
minutes
ago so she knows the line there’s no
question about it can the nerves get
settled enough to hit at the correct
speed hat okas was
not so a much different situation from
the one in regulation where she had this
putt to win the championship this to
extend the playoff with their fellow
country
women
she is up to the challenge they’ll go to
the
16th as Hoka
exits how about that you don’t see any
birdies nearly all day long and two in
the throws of this major championship
pressure you rolls it in and park on top
that is
impressive that was some shot the park
hit to set herself up for it again you
got fortunate it took a good hop for her
ended up in a place where she could put
it in for three this is the spot that
that less than perfect shot coming in
ended up and she turned it into a three
they’re off to the 16th and we’re off to
another commercial to try to decide
this all right the first hole of sudden
death in the books you and park
exchanged birdies at 18 they’re headed
back to the 16th T and they were the co-
Rolex players of the year last year part
also was the Rookie of the Year so in
essence Paige you got two of the top
players in the world going at it which
you would think would be appropriate in
a major championship like this it
certainly feels appropriate and for
these two players two contrasting Styles
Sun Park very aggressive taking driver
in a lot of places soan and Yu playing a
lot more conservatively throughout the
week uh so we’ve got a A Tale of Two
very different players both rising to a
high
level so in regulation This Is How They
played the 16th earlier and remember
this from Park just able to get a club
on it in the hazard over there at 16 and
pulled
off an incredible shot to save par and
it was at that same hole where so young
Yu did this and kind of deflated
Park and so that birdie rolled in and
then we all know what happened at the
part 3 17th you double bogied it and
that created a two- shot swing so they
were tied as they went to the 18th both
had some pretty good chances there and
both had some you know we we sit at 18
behind us here and we look at one birdie
all day long and then these players and
the throws of this pressure put in two
threes that’s pretty good stuff yeah it
was very impressive uh so young youu a
little fortunate didn’t hit the best of
second shots a little thin but it
carried just far enough and actually
left her in a position uh to be
aggressive with her Putt and then um
Park well she was putting on virtually
the same line page and obviously she
learned from the mistake she made at the
72nd hole without question when you have
two pressure packed putts and still
having that maintain that nice smooth
stroke throughout we watched so and you
do that all week long and when it
mattered the most she drilled it in the
back of the hole with authority looked
confident throughout as well as s hun
Park who had previously had a pot on a
similar line able to learn from that
you have to give Park a lot of credit I
think you know her reputation coming in
sometimes struggled on the greens uh
under pressure in the final round and
and she puted the ball beautifully today
only player in the field to be bogey
free so you got Park the sixth ranked
player in the world in the latest Rolex
rankings and you’ve got you trying to
get back on top changed your swing back
in January 2016 because she wanted to
get back to this Elite level to get
herself back to the top ranked golfer in
the world and so that goal can be
accomplished here if she’s able to
finish this off in the second hole of a
sudden death at 16 not easy holes Gary I
mean his look in the field of a playoff
that could go on for a while cuz they
not a lot of 30y opportunities out there
well but we saw two on what we thought
was a very difficult hole true well Tom
Abbott has been perched over there
behind that 16th green all week long and
he’s got the call over there as they
head to the second playoff hole and it
is a very difficult hole tricky because
it’s straight down wind and Sunan Park
needs to be careful what she hits off
the tea here if she went with driver it
would go into the water at the end of
the
Fairway chatting it over with herat
David Jones they’ve been um discussing
almost every single shot at length I
mean it would seem to me isn’t it
obvious Tom that uh they don’t want to
hit driver you don’t want to risk yeah
well I’m thinking they trying to decide
whether they they don’t want to hit
three when it looks like she’s going to
go with the
hybrid so they think three-wood might be
tooo
much yeah I think the three-wood might
almost go as far as the driver right now
cuz she hits it so high and it’ll Sail
on the wind I think this is a good smart
shot we haven’t seen her back off much
but now is the time to do
it just keep the ball in the Fairway
somehow we saw her hit driver and she
was able to carry the bunkers on the
left hand side instead hitting three or
hybrid she’s going to have to keep it on
that right hand side where it gets most
narrow kind Fairway jogs over to the
right pretty uncomfortable shot is the
wind still as strong Mark as it was when
they played it what about an hour ago it
maybe a little bit less it’s very fickle
wind now it’s changing direction by the
minute that’s why I like this safer play
actually looks like a good
line we go this one is going to be
really good this will almost be through
the Fairway oh it hit a sprinkler and
that held it up yeah that was um
fortunate I think it may have run down
towards that semi- Ruff and the hazard
line is very close on that right
side caught a number of players out this
week now so young you K also going with
Fairway Wood she carries three-wood and
a fivewood I believe this is the
fivewood
and she’s pulled it whoa is it going to
carry the wind whether the wind will
push it back a bit oh just carried that
first bunker and now it’s going to be
absolutely fine if she had been in that
bunker it would have been uh
trouble all right well they catch up to
the next shots we welcome in Lind Dy us
chairman and CEO of KPMG and as far as
drama goes and leaderboards go this is
about as good as this thing gets isn’t
it lots of drama all right what stands
out for you this week despite besides
what we’re seeing in the golf course
here I know there’s a summit involved
some leadership programs as well well it
has been an amazing week and it’s going
to be an amazing finish and um there’s
just so much to celebrate about
elevating women on and off the golf
course we had the Leadership Summit
where we are all about trying to get
more women into the sea suite and then
the really special part of this is the
proceeds the net proceeds of this going
to the KPMG Future Leaders program
giving scholarships to girls in high
school as well as leadership development
Ki rice is the program Ambassador and
and we had three of the girls out here
this week who had amazing Stories and
got to see these amazing women playing
golf been a great collaboration between
you guys at KPMG the PG of America and
the LPGA and we’re playing on a great
major championship layout here at CER
Lakes Golf Club it moves to Hazel team
next year and on beyond that some great
venues as well yeah so you know this is
something that we are inspired to just
grow every single year we have this
great partnership with the PGA of
America who are putting this on Such
Great Courses and I think when we look
at Hazel te next year and aonic the year
after and we had the special
announcement of going to baltis in 2023
uh this is going to just keep getting
better and better and we’re about
inspiring more women to do the things
that they want to do these amazing
athletes as well as women um who are
trying to do things off the golf course
as well all right Lind of KPMG thanks
for all you do and we look forward to
seeing you at Hazel team next year
absolutely thanks and again more
Testament to the global stature of this
game this threeway playoff featured a
couple of women from South Korea who are
still alive and then Japan’s ha Oka also
a part of it so growing the game not
only here in the United States but
across the world and two South
Koreans one’s going to win this KPMG
women’s PGA Championship and put their
name on a trophy which features the who
who of golf and Paige we began this week
talking about The Prestige of this
Championship not only what Lyn Dy was
talking about further elevating it since
their involvement in it but if I mean
you look down the list all of the Hall
of Famers and all the greats are on this
trophy as it should be uh with any major
championship you want to bring out the
best in the players you want it to
separate the field you want it the best
players in the world to win your
championship and I think this is
absolutely no exception when you have
these two players coming down the
stretch and these are two players have
graced the top of the world rankings
soan Yu was the world number one for 19
weeks and then she was overtaken by
sanjun
Park who was just one week at the
top whose name will be etched on that
beautiful trophy alongside the greats of
the game sitting behind the 16th green
it may be handed out on that green they
may need to go to
17 and hopefully Dodge some weather here
it’s getting a little dark here the 16th
starting to come in a little bit here
yeah weather saying heavy rain and
thunder and killer and just a few
minutes so maybe they’ll beat it maybe
they won’t yeah there’s that cell
heading right almost on top of us so
fingers
crossed okay Mark what’s she going to do
here well she’s going to play first so I
like that position I definitely think
it’s an advantage to go first wind is
coming from the left a little bit now
actually and
behind got 149 to the hole I think she
should carry it about
135 left of the
flag you like this angle it’s not a bad
angle there’s plenty of green to work
with
today just a
99
and that’s going to be on the correct
side of that little null in the middle
of the green and a great chance for
birdie got a good sense of her power and
able to Loft it up and create so much
spin on a downwind crosswind shot just
heard that Rumble of Thunder that rolled
through whoa it is getting pretty dark
over that was more than a rumble too
that was a type of uh Rumble that makes
the hair stand up on the back of your
neck tough for the officials here but
play
continues so yanu is seven Paces closer
than she was in regulation W big
gust it’s still helping a little bit
left to right as
well
[Applause]
almost The Identical place from where
she made the putt for birdie and
regulation to birdie putts here in the
playoff at the KPMG women’s PGA
[Music]
Championship this is while we were away
bad news I’m
afraid officials speaking to the players
as they walk up to the Green in this
second playoff
hole and there is the horn to suspend
play as this cell moves into keer lakes
this was the forecast it was the reason
that they moved the tea times up three
balls off split T’s to try and avoid
this weather which they did in
regulation but of course it’s gone to a
playoff and there’s the radar
so we’re going to take a quick break
here and when we come back we will show
you action from earlier today in this
incredible final round of the KPMG
women’s PGA Championship and we hope
this storm cell moves out of here pretty
quickly we have seen some amazing golf
those
birdies on the 18th
hole action from early on the way as we
wait out the weather delay here just
north of
Chicago and we’re going to take you back
live to the 16th green so youngu in
sunum park in the playoff this is the
second playoff hole NASA Hoka eliminated
on the first playoff hole these two
making birdies and during the delay the
players were actually kept in some vans
that had been parked away behind this
hole for safety
and so when the horn was blown the
officials knew they may have a little
bit of a window after the cell moved
through so they just kept the players
and the caddies and the officials in
those vans told the spectators to take
some uh shelter which they did and now
we have a window to finish but two
birdie putts up coming here sunun park
who made a miraculous four in regulation
on this hole so you you who hold a
birdie part from a similar spot she was
a little further to the right but back
down the hill an incredible battle
between two players who were co- Rolex
player of the year last year soan Yu had
a great chance to win that Player of the
Year title but she struggled with a
right shoulder injury late in the season
doctors diagnosed it as muscle damage
from overuse it just required some rest
and it flared up again in the final
event of the season this T group to
Championship she said it prevented her
from being fully fit and able to
challenge suntune Park to win the CME
race to the globe and the Rolex Player
of the Year and of course they shared
that Player of the Year honor so she was
rather frustrated not to be able to give
it her best in that final event and now
these two find themselves here in a
playoff for a major championship and
there really is not a lot to separate
them we’re going to blow a horn we’re
just waiting for the officials to blow
the horn and get play back underway it
seems strange when there are only two
players on the golf course but they have
to follow the
regulations sanun Park a shy player
doesn’t really show much
emotion so Yu very elegant in the way
that she plays the game twice a major
Champion her first win was at the US
Women’s Open it was in a rain delayed
event they went into a Monday finish at
the
Broadmore battled with heyang so to win
and soan youu was very much an unknown
at the time and now of course we know
her as one of the best players in the
world who has a chance to go back to the
top spot in the world rankings with a
win here
today play is back underway and Hicks
Paige McKenzie gar Koke in the 18th
Tower everyone taking shelter during
that uh short burst that came through
yeah that was an entertaining 10
minutes we’ve covered some ground set up
in the rain room and back up here at our
18th hour Tom what well not too
much the players took shelter themselves
and now so young you for a birdie which
in her mind she’s thinking she’s got to
make
okay is back out there for
us I am and Tom by um looking at this
putt in comparison to where she was in
regulation she’s a little more uh
towards the right hand side of the green
but overall the P will do the same thing
filter down slightly to the left towards
the water and be
quick get there again it was almost
exactly the way that she played it in
regulation but this time it didn’t
[Applause]
drop almost just sneaking in on the left
side at the best she can do as a
[Applause]
four and now Sun hun park with a chance
to win the
championship Tom I have to say she has
shown no sign of any nerves with the
putter coming down the stretch she
missed the one on the 72nd hole but hit
a good Putt and then of course made it
on the first playoff hole so I would
expect if this doesn’t go in it’ll be
real
close well with it being downhill and
moving to the right page uh to me under
pressure tendency if there is one to not
release the tow of the putter properly
and uh have it Miss ever so slightly to
the right that’s what she’s been working
on getting that tow of the putter to
release and the putter to
Arc tremend here in park is the KPMG
women’s PGA
Champion an incredible final day and now
the emotion
comes yeah player Tom who we’ve said has
mostly no
[Applause]
emotions realizes she has her second
major in his manye here still the
respectful bow through it
all and appropriately enough the player
who was the steadiest today the only
player with a bogey free round
today does not let this opportunity get
away away from her to put away this
Championship had a chance in
[Applause]
regulation and South Korea’s rising star
has taken it to another
level and so Yu who played so well all
week long just finally outd by a player
who drops in a birdie to
beater at the
16th so so it’s Park the winner here at
keer
[Music]
Lakes so let’s update the 2018 race to
the CME Globe you can see there’s Sun
Hume park with her win today in this
major championship Rises 19 spots into
the ninth position so young you three
spots up into the number six position
settling for the runner up today she is
with K cockroll she is and I would
imagine soan you you feel a little bit
of shock right now so much hard work and
effort goes into trying to win your
third major and you come up a little
short you showed a lot of fight coming
back after doubling the second hole how
I have to imagine you’d want to take
that shot back at 17 today uh yeah for
sure you know like you know to be honest
like without that 17 I would say um this
week’s performance was one of the my
best performan I’ve ever had so it’s
really no complain but um well at 17
maybe I guess they Dro it a little bit
too much and then when wind just took it
really hard to the left and just landed
at the water hazard but um well as you
said I fought you know really hard and
then um I think just Reser is something
I cannot control like you know um I had
a lot of tough moment at the golf course
today and I prayed a lot and maybe it’s
it was not something for me maybe it’s
going to come um for later and then you
know who knows it’s going to come few in
a row for me um so um I just really
proud of myself the way how I play today
and then um really big congratulation to
San Park these opportun unities don’t
come that often and you had in a lot of
emotional ups and downs out there can
you describe what the day was like and
really how you you kept fighting through
uh yeah for sure you know when I met a
double bogie at second you know that was
really big disappointment and then um
obviously s made a biry right away at
the next toll and then I was only one
shot leate and then but the thing is I
knew my game was there I knew I have a
chance to make a lot of bires um so that
was what I was really fed for like I
just kept talking myself to like you
know you’re a good enough player to go
through all this and then well I know it
would have been great to without playoff
I mean winning the tournament without
playoff but at least I made a playoff um
and then you know I made a birdie at the
first playoff as well then I think
second old birdie PO is I thought I made
it but just just sleep but um it’s what
it is it sure is it’s it’s hard to uh to
put into words exactly what you went
through but congratulations on an
outstanding week Dan she’s got nothing
to hang her head about today birdie that
last in regulation after have been just
one player birding it all day long and
then she gets beat by a birdie as Park
birdies the two playoff holes to put
away her second major championship at
the age of 24 the US Women’s Open winner
last
year and women’s
KPMG PGA Championship winner this year a
