PXG’s BLACK OPS CHALLENGE

Today Jack and Dalton visit the PXG store to bring their drivers head to head with the newly released Black Ops drivers! all right guys Welcome to our new video
we’re here today at pxg in Seattle uh
today we’re doing the Black Ops
challenge with our good friend Dan who
is the head Club fitter here at pxg
Seattle so we’re going to go inside
we’re going to hit both of our drivers
side by side then Dan’s going to fit us
with a various amount of the new Black
Ops heads there’s two heads available
and then multiple different shafts so
we’re interested to see how that goes um
I’m already currently playing the pxg
Gen 4 with a hazardous shaft stiff 6.5
what do you got in the bag I’m rocking
the Cobra LTD X LS with a Ventus Blue 6s
perfect what are you looking to get out
of your fitting today or the challenge
yeah I think a win for me would be I
mean the buzzword right like dispersion
and distance so I’d love to see a
tighter dispersion and a little bit of
extra yardage I think I also struggle
sometimes getting the ball up in the air
so I’d like to see a little more height
maybe um and what about you yeah I mean
I think hitting it straighter and
further is obviously the number one key
right now um honestly for me it’s just I
would love to see a little bit more
yards I feel like I hit the ball
straight enough to where this is a good
shaft head combo for me but if I can hit
the ball a little bit further maybe get
to that 300 range that would be perfect
uh all right we’re going to go inside
now and see what Dan can do
while you’re warming up oh yeah

session I always struggle at aiming in
simulators
just use your imagination okay pretend
you’re outside on the
Range that white line down the middle
there’s the center line so towards that
monument in the
background 44 and A4 yeah a little short
right yeah kind of a lot short uh yeah
about an inch and a quarter I was hoping
that was going to help me find the
Fairway how’s it been working out for
you it’s been working oh you just got
this yesterday right yeah
went to the range
yesterday how it feel felt great felt
way like thousand times better than my
old
one look at that baby oh that’s all
right that’s all right pitching wedge
seven iron you’re pitching
muched let’s see if I can hit a fade
that’s what I like to hit off the tea
with a driver
so chunky monkey you guys know how this
challenge Works no oh yeah I’m curious
so we’re getting you warmed up we’re
going get the blood flowing we’re going
to get driver in your hands when you’re
ready okay you let me know when you feel
like you’re ready with your driver
you’re going to take five swings you’re
going to choose your best three shots
I’m going to fit you for a Black Ops
driver if I don’t beat you either
distance or dispersion I’m going to give
you a 100 bucks VCA gift card all right
I love it so five shots with both
drivers yeah so I’m going to fit you for
that Black Ops driver right and if at
any point I beat you either distance or
dispersion any of the five okay any of
the five and dispersion is measured as
it’s from the center line on the track
man Club head speed has to be within 3
miles an hour of each other in order to
qualify attack angle also has to be
within 3° the Black Ops line there’s
Woods in there too right Fairway Woods
yeah oh yeah mhm Fairway woods and
hybrids what’s the new technology so
it’s a new titanium face material that
we kind of incorporated into this new
Black Ops line it promotes a higher
launch with less spin so we’re seeing a
lot more distance than we have in the
previous
generations we also Incorporated more
perimeter waiting to the woods so kind
of boost boost that moi moi is kind of
the buzzword this year a lot of
Manufacturers are using it we can
definitely get that driver over 10,000
by putting the weight all the way back
but we also like the ability to adjust
the weighting towards the toe or the
heel for the player that needs that help
okay so the 10K that’s what you seeing
all over the place and you can you’re
saying you can you can hit 10K if you
want to just maximize all power but to
get a little more control in there you
wouldn’t necessarily make it 10K yep
some people need a little bit more
weight towards the heel to help the face
close a little bit faster some people
need a little bit more weight towards
the toe to help keep that toe open so
we’ll get you dialed in we’ll figure out
what waiting is going to be right for
you jack all right I like that
all right I think I’m just about ready
to start hitting some drivers currently
rocking the Cobra LTD X LS head that’s
the low spinning head from like 2022 it
came out um was the hottest driver that
year if I recall correctly and then I
got a Ventus blue non Vore 6s shaft
that’s cut an inch short control might
have to get some in your hands today
buddy we got a Lin grip actually
D’s a big fan of lampin he shot a
commercial with them so Lin’s a great
grip yeah are you going to be able to
beat that what kind of grip we got on
the Black Ops today how’s that look a
little bit more left there you go
perfect a little higher than I normally
te it you got a lower one yeah the one
right there is lower I got even lower
than that too um yeah we might might
need to we’ll see let me
know talk to me you hate those numbers
that’s pretty solid right off the bat
man like to see the height a little bit
higher get you a little more carry
number smash Factor though smash factor
is great oh see if I can do that more
than once today huh yeah oh I didn’t
mention it’s at 9 and a half degrees
Loft as well got to Loft it down a
little
bit you let me know when you’re ready
for your five swings Jack okay I’ll get

you right’s typically the Mist for you
right when you do Miss um yes for sure
thanks for throwing in when I do cuz you
know doesn’t happen very often but when
it does happen it’s usually right right
correct here’s a nice draw for you
though how about that balance beautiful
I just want to feel something all right
two more warm-up swings and then I’m
ready so smash factor is up there but
and that just means I’m getting good
face contact yep what goes in this it’s
the club head speed ball speed ratio so
it’s basically a measure of efficiency
of the strike so anything I’d say
probably 145 and above where the driver
is pretty
solid big cut big all right buddy yep
ready for your five I’m ready let’s do
it that last one keep the dispersion
there that’d be pretty good right all

well I did a good job of putting them on
uh both sides didn’t I so there’s not
really um yeah I’ll eliminate these two

one okay I’m going to start you off 9°
Venus Blue 6s just like you have here
yeah and your driver right now currently
but this is with the vooc core which
does what the V core is what makes the
venti special it’s a technology that the
fujiura puts in there that makes the
offc Center contact more forgiving so
when we do hit it off the heel and off
the toe it is going to provide
straighter results for us okay and I’m
just right into this with the challenge
no warm ups with this one I’m already
warmed up that’s the idea I’m going to
fit you we’re going to try out a few
other shafts maybe a few different
weight combinations we’re going to get
you dial in love that feels good already
I will
say did sound pretty good okay little
spinny
there that one felt like I hit it hard a
little high in the face though for
sure I was like where did that go all
right big dog I’m going to switch things
up when you here okay we have gained
about 3 mph clip head speed off the bat
a little bit more aerodynamic head even
though the swing weight’s a little bit
heavier here this is a little bit more
optimal than where you’re at with yours
since yours is cut down I measured your
swing weight at about C7 okay so pretty
light yeah that felt that last one felt
like it was a whole different ball game
when I was swinging honestly
pretty good
buddy good I mean we cut that off the
heel maybe a little bit yeah I think so
yeah a little high heel action there and
it still did pretty still right down the
middle 274 man yeah that’s not too bad
huh swinging a little harder than I do
on the course I think right now so maybe
I got a you a little amped up little
amped up a little excited yeah excited
about the Black Ops it’s a great driver
man how’s it feel feels good I feel like
it’s effortless effortless power all
right I’m going to pop you into one of
my personal favorites in our Matrix here
this is the XC from Tour AD XC stands
for extra carry so this shaft here is
designed to generate a little bit of
higher launch okay want to see what that
does for you trying to get our carry
number up a little bit trying to do the
best I can your attack angle is a little
bit steep so you are hitting down on it
yeah seeing if we can still find a way
to get that launch number up a little
bit for
you solid best one there right off the
bat buddy good that was definitely the
best one 278 right down the pipe love
that ball flight yeah that one that was
that was
good that one was back to Slappy little
off the toe
maybe okay not quite in the road at St
Andrew’s though so we’re
good okay another solid one there yeah
right down the middle how’s the shot
feel buddy feels good good um yeah I
like it okay I will say right out the
bat just those first three swings there
with the XC I’ve got you beaten distance
oh really so we wouldn’t even need to do
the two other swings but I do want to
try out a few other shafts maybe
different weight combo see if we can
make it even better for you okay so just
the first first three swings there
I like it oh yeah this oh this is going
to be a good
one confident golf swing
there yeah there’s our best one 287 Bud
really really nice wow awesome that was
a 111 Club head speed there jacking it
looks smooth so how do I easy love

Jack awesome stuff buddy really good I’m
actually going to bump you up and LOF a
little bit see what we do here that ball
flight every time from now on you can
just copy and past that Tracer right
there Doan because that’s going to be
every t-
shot good wow instantly 69 height there
251 carry where was the face contact
there that was our best carry number
there buddy it was really good 251 yep
284 total 2200 spin really solid I don’t
think I even hit that in the center of
the face either yeah 143 smash pretty
good but high
heel how much more do you think I’m
getting when I get that in the center of
the face or is that the whole point of
the technology that I’m not losing much
at
all in terms of dispersion you’re not
going to be losing much at all that this
is a very forgiving driver so it is
designed to go straight but also with
the new titanium face material in the
head we are still going to maintain a
good amount of ball speed on those Miss
hits too so we’re still going to see
good
distance sounded
good that’s dialed buddy that CH thing
about that man yeah that was the one
lock it in lock it in man done deal my
friend lock it in pxg
wins that was fun man good [ __ ] that was
fun 288 right down left Center Fairway
there 73t height so check out the the
gains in height here too oh yeah it was
went from a little high in the face 86
but 65 ft height average
71 and all I did so we found out that
this shaft worked really well for you
but I had you in a ° head right off the
bat I bumped you up to the 10 and a half
increased our height and distance we
kept the spin right where we like to see
it kind of that 22 2300 range it’s
really good buddy awesome yeah I love it
thank you really good so just for
comparison here give you kind of where
where you’re at here with your Cobra
gamer yeah and here we were with just
two shots with the pxg Black Ops and
what were the Carries On These versus
these so we had one here little open
face so we got a little bit more in
terms of carry with it right but 240
yeah these were the butter cut car1 so
11 yards carry distance that’s awesome
really good close to 290 there that was
a 143 smash as well so we not quite oh
wait till we get that thing in the
center we get that centered or maybe
just slight toe so toe will give me a
little more distance than than he toe is
generally going to be a little bit more
of a forgiving mess for us all right
good work man thanks bro thank you yeah

bro all right Pro how long have we been
gaming that Gen 4 driver for what was
that
2021 sounds about right I think this is
season three or four with it right
on a nice high
draw okay warm four in a row right on on
top of each
other yeah Black Ops definitely has a
different sound to
it let me know when you’re ready big dog
we’ll do our
five all right start it it’s rock and
roll on a rope to start
it’s going to be a tough competition I
can tell right
now I mean he’s already got some kaboom
baby in the
bag am
I these are the five oh baby put up a
tough score right now it’s a little left
that’ll be a throw away got to be within
3 miles an hour that’s all we
ask what does the swing speed M those
the lefties it’s all right you’re going
to pump this one right down the middle
we’ll eliminate those last
two
yep all right so take out shots three
and four yeah let’s do that there we go

up check the fit we’re all black today
for the challenge
obviously had to Spice in a little Nike
white yeah we definitely need to do that
be about dang time all right big
dog we’ll start here which head is this
one this is the standard head I’m going
start you off here okay did you hit both
nope he’s a standard head guy standard
head guy yep we kept the spin really
really nice with that standard
head wow that feels really
good okay good carry number right off
the
bat really nice buddy yeah I like that
three bills down the middle got three
bills on the seventh swing I got Point
2997 okay really good man this looks
really really solid right off the bat so
in terms of distance we’ve already got
you beat with those first three Swings
with the Black Ops head well let’s try
out a few other combinations okay um I
know you kind of like the tour head
profile I just have a feeling sitting
these two here down side by side go
ahead and grab that there so that’s a
standard head there little bit of a
larger looking footprint it’s got more
weight towards the perimeter to
stabilize the head and make it more
forgiving it’s designed to go straighter
but a lot of so we designed this head
here based off Tour player feedback
typically the better player likes kind
of that smaller profile yeah that look
there but a lot of them are actually
opting towards this head here just for
the increased forgiveness with this new
face material here we’re still keeping
the spin nice and low yeah one thing I
do love the low profile aspect of how
this almost goes flush with the ground
this head right now but obviously the
classic like smaller head looks really
really good as well so I can see why it
would be a mix between both let’s throw
this one in there and see how she does
let’s do it should golf fittings be like
blind testing for for the player not
necessarily I mean there’s sometimes
where I like to kind of throw something
in there without saying anything just to
see what happens but most of the time I
will explain kind of what I’m doing are
the head weights the same between the
two drivers
yep it’s a lot I’m feeling a very heavy
club now really heavy me confirm swing
weights should be the same here spot on
the same brother
okay oh yeah now that you mention it
it’s the
same hey
hole get down which head do you feel
like is more confidence inspiring to
look at for you confidence inspiring
feel like the other head you like the
look the other head a little better a
little bit numbers were great with it
nice 301 right down the middle yeah I I
I waited on that one finally my timing
was a lot
better there’s your furthest 303 303
yeah it that was the
one how about that one huh where she
go 295
does trackman do a pretty good job at
realistic roll yeah it’s pretty solid is
this on like firm settings or oh I found
it right here for everybody watching
here in Washington we don’t
get 26 24 yards a roll maybe in the
summer when it’s nice and baked out yeah
i’ say in the summer time not in the
winter we get about one foot a roll or
negative one dang bro it just took you a
couple swings to get used to that head

9.9 on average I think I was a little
intimidated by the going from I feel
like it would be easier to hit this
first almost for me and then go to that
and be like that’s on cruise control
yeah that would be my idea felt like
when I when I when you handed the new
head off to me I had to like do
something different to it when I don’t
actually let’s see how we do coming back
to switching up the shaft on you here
sounded

mean it’s

Sha feel Bud feels really good feels
like it’s not as uh dense for some
reason I I don’t know if that’s a really
good adjective okay but the other one
just felt heavy throughout this one
feels heavy right where I want it
towards that last half cool perfect
let’s see what VI little core can do for
you I do love the dark blue shaft yeah
fujiura did a great job with that shaft
there really noticeable when you see it
on TV too like over 30% of the PJ tour
uses some version of that
shaft I like that ball flight
man that got there quick didn’t it that
sounded like it had some speed on
it
3y 301 good spin there how’s that feel
Bud feels great kind of surprised that
my preference on the head a lot of tour
players feel that way as
well mean why not get a little increased
stability hit a straighter I mean we’re
still seeing perfect spin rates with
this setup here that’s great yeah I mean
why would you want a head to where even
on your worst off day would you want
something that you can just choke down
and bunt exactly
it’s my little cut love it 290 good
stuff one more for shits and gigs let’s

it solid perfect really solid that was

cow which one had the best dispersion
this last setup with the head well we
eliminated the first two with the Tor
head okay but that really really was
nice dispersion this setup here with the
Ventus was really really solid yeah
those are five swings there that I did
not delete did not touch anything with

experience d mine was pretty good I
wasn’t really I didn’t have a lot of uh
anticipation going into it just with
already having a pxg head but I love the
way that the standard Black Ops head
looked he put me in the Ventus blue
which I already have in my 3-wood so
can’t wait to put that in the bag um got
a little bit more yardage out of it too
I was starting to get up to 300 yards
total so hopefully during the summer
here when it’s nice and dry I start
seeing those kind of numbers yeah so

know I’m not ready to pull the trigger
quite yet I actually just got a new
shaft to my driver that I was already
kind of testing out so you got the
Ventus blue so maybe put this in play

see yeah I think like it’ll depend on if
I’m like really struggling with driving
the ball or not to be honest and I think
that’s something all golfers can relate
to it’s like it’s never the swing that’s
like messing the ball up right it’s
always got to be the club so it’s always
the club it’s always the club so if
things start going South with this then
I’ll be sure to probably switch to the
