exciting match up tonight as we welcome
you into our pregame festivities built
by bucks a hardware as we’ve got the
home team Desert Hills Thunder number
three in the latest fora RPI taking on
the number two two team in the latest
RPI the Snow Canyon Warriors Deon Dixon
Kaden for master Caden RPI one thing
region title another thing lot on the
line as we’re getting closer and closer
to the
postseason absolutely absolutely you
know both of these teams are very
competitive teams here in the state
these two teams uh when it comes down to
it even in region play it’s going to be
an interesting matchup just because you
look at where these guys are at Snow
Canyon undefeated in region play Desert
Hills hey yeah they’ve had a few bumps
there right there if anything they’re
the team that can maybe knock Snow
Canyon down Dixie has two losses one of
those Desert Hills yeah some big splits
early in the season Desert Hills has had
a tough schedule and was able to get the
split with the Flyers they were able to
get the split with the Mustangs so uh
some pretty big splits for Desert Hills
but nobody has beaten the Snow Canyon
Warriors tonight and Desert Hills gets
their chance this week the first of a
two- game set the game tonight which
we’re bringing you here is our Boulevard
home game of the week and then they’ll
play the rematch over at snow high
school on Friday night again appreciate

we are going to take a look at our key

than that after Cedar sweeping the Reds

great production from the top of the
order guys like maai Swinson you know
Ryder Harrison and Company but Corbin
hen Ledger ship some of these guys down
towards the bottom of the order have
been tearing it up as well also got to
be patient at the plate tonight
especially against a crafty Lefty and
then up for for Snow Canyon obviously
goats he’s got to be on with his
location and I can’t serve up any
meatballs cuz there’s some power in this
lineup mainly Hagen Reed and hot Hagen
is one of the keys for the Thunders
seven home runs leads the state in that
department all classifications hitting
over 500 I don’t know how aggressive
goats will or the bullpen will want to
pitch to Hagen Reed obviously got to get
a solid start from the sophomore hoit
Atkin I saw him last year to this year
he’s definitely picked up a little vlo
got good movement on his off speed
pitches and then for Desert Hills hey
against Snow Canyon you got to you got
to take advantage when you get runners
in scoring position you got to put some
runs on the board again ra
2.66 for the warrior starting pitcher
uh we’ll get you the house of jump
starting lineups here as we get underway
and also here in the first inning we’ll
take a look at our Spotlight tonight and
first pitch to M Swinson gets away from
Atkin for ball
one take a look at the defense tonight
for the home team Thunder you around the
infield you got Wilson at third Philly
at second Tolman is over at first and Bo
wall is behind the bump with Atkin on
the mound and that pitch just missing
ball too to 2 and0 uh Outfield the only
senior on this Thunder team that’s
Cooper cluff in Center in right it’s
haen Reed and in left field is stokeley
Tate and since he switched numbers to 49
he’s been hitting a lot better the lucky
49 compared to earlier in the year when
he was wearing number 11 that is your
house of jump starting lineup for the
Thunder get you the Warriors line up in
just a second Here Comes Atkin trying to
find the strike zone here and he does

taking yeah and it gets there after
throwing three straight balls but again
on that three-oh pitch I don’t mind
Swinson taking that one just letting it
happen the 3-1 pitch top of the K Zone
and walked him so Swinson lead off man

aboard it’s Swinson and right in will
step in the left fielder batting third
Ryder Harrison DH tonight kind of
aggravated his his hamstring so they’re
dhing him tonight nothing wrong with
this bat but they’re not going to play
him in the out field Secrets will bat
fourth Play Short Stop Smith the catcher
bats fifth Darius Henderson at first
then tank Kelly at third Andrew lion and
then Corbin hen rounding out the lineup
for Coach Reed secrist under coach by
Kevin cave in grounder and from his
backside Jace Fillmore gets the out over
at first base he slips down Kaden yeah
he does he slips down but he’s able to
make the play I like that good athletic
move throwing it from the bottom 43 on
the put out so in grounds out for the
first out of this this ball game and
here comes Ryder Harrison Ryder this
year hitting it at 426 clip two home

you might want to go do down on the
saving side of the freeway Finley Subaru
I think it’s that guy for for Snow
Canyon first off your lead off hitter
that that got on base there uh taking
the walk is M Swinson you know his
batting average has been extremely high
um and then of course the on base
percentage just stays that much higher
so uh wion for me is definitely the the
one on that list for the Finley Subaru
star of the game Starwatch yeah hitting
464 25 runs scored 32 hits 16
rbi’s and then is it Hagen Reed tonight
for the Thunder it probably is you know
Hagen Reed’s always kind of that guy on
the Starwatch where he’s uh he’s leading
the state and home runs I mean the guy’s
got a powerful bat so he’s definitely
going to be up there yeah and if he
keeps it up could be in the running for
for Mr Baseball could be in the running
for region n MVP obviously still some
games to be played to see how that all
plays out but he’s definitely put
himself right in the middle of that
conversation little Chopper it’s a
Fabulous Freddy’s foul ball one and two
the count here on Ryder
Harrison qu Atkin just a
sophomore with some injuries to the
pitching Department Atkin and Tolman
have kind of worked into the starting
lineup and Oppo driving it high into the
alleyway and it is going to be caught
near the wall good job by stokeley Tate
tracking that down for out number two
yeah what a play out there definitely
like you say tracking it down that’s not
an easy one to track down as you can see
here on the Red Rock real estate replay
as that one goes out into left field and
and again it’s a tough one luckily he’s
got the Sun at his back I wouldn’t Envy
uh trying to do that at the sunlight
right in your face so he flies out to
left field stokeley Tate make making a
nice defensive play later in the
broadcast we’ll choose our Mountainland
Supply defensive play of the game that’s
our top nominee so far although the
backside throw for Jay Filmore on the
first out was pretty impressive too
absolutely so a couple nice plays and
uhoh little pickle and easily ma Winson
as that ball gets away into center field
he’s going to take third and now the
Warriors have
the go- ahead run as we’re tied just in
the top of the first inning right there
90 ft away at third base is Swinson
advances yeah you definitely need to
take advantage of the errors uh in any
case for either of these teams and snow
Canyon’s been actually really good at
that this season and and they’ve won
games a lot of times because they’re
just committing less errors than the
other teams and Atkin just missing
outside maybe a little too

now that gets away they probably send
Winson who has good speed from the lead
off and crew trying to go the other way
and that’s going to be another Fabulous

ball and can’t will even up two balls
and two strikes just getting
going on a Tuesday night thunder coming
six and two in region 15- six overall
Warriors 16 and3 overall 8-0 in region
play and that one’s popped up to shallow
right center field and that’s going to
be easily made out there by Hagen
Reed so no runs no hits one left on base

Hagen Reed who is so hot this year

the senior hitting at a decent clip I
mean obviously he always want to be
hitting better 273 and first P swinging
drives it deep into the hole and that’s
going to get through it’s going to be a
leadoff single he takes a turn but will
not try to go to second base yeah great
hit there and again hitting it through
that uh through that Gap there between
short and third
just pulled it I mean secrist you saw
going hard got down sliding trying to
backhand it and just couldn’t get enough
length to get to that baseball yeah it
was just that good old 56 Gap right
there and hit just just just far enough
Out Of Reach of secret here is Philly
Philly another talented Junior his

field but it is it’s going to get over
the head of the center fielder KF is

Filmore as he smoked it to straightway
center field yeah that’s Corbin Haven
out there in center field he didn’t get
a good read on it took a step up towards
it as we can see here in the Red Rock

but Reed was right on it just couldn’t

catcher setting up with uh with Hayden
Smith setting up just a little bit

Willie has walked a lot this year kayen
he’s got a really patient Approach at
the plate they got an open base but I’m
sure goats plans on pitching to him as
he misses ball one here comes pitch two
in the sequence swinging a Miss Willie
couldn’t find that one swung right over
the top of

Coach Simkins and the Trailblazer

the first time so far that goats has had
the count as a as a pitcher’s count with

two it’s always tough mentally to step
in into that batters box when he sitting
with a 2-1 count and being able to hold
off some of those High fast balls
sometimes that’s that’s a a batters
bread and butter where you think it’s
your bread and butter I should say you
got to lay off of those pitch and looked
like a slider that broke late and darts
inside really good eye to lay off that
pitch looked like Willie wanted to go
for a second now the count is full so
Reed worked to count full and now Wilson
has done the same with two on Runners on
second third one out and he lost him
Willie is aboard and it gets away and
that’s going to score a run diving safe
into home is Cooper kluf and Desert
Hills will have the one- nothing lead
and now Wilson alertly is going to run
to Second the throw home as Filmore
scores two nothing that pitch gets away
and all the way to third is Andrew
Wilson after walking the Thunder have a
two nothing lead some mistakes you don’t
normally see from Snow Canyon Kaden yeah
bunch of mistakes there it’s going to
take a lot of momentum out of this Snow
Canyon team and we check it out here on
the replay the B Wilson takes off for
first diving in score is CL but Wilson
see nobody’s cover at this point he
takes off running for it here comes the
run to score and that was mis thrown
well that’s smart by Wilson right
because he knows that there’s nobody in
position to tag him out by throwing it
to Second that allows Filmore to Dart
home and now all of a sudden Brandon
lion the pitching coach for the Warriors
has got to come out and talk with the
infield drawn in and calm everybody down
this is the third Snow Canyon game I’ve
done this year and they’ve never trailed
and they do for the first time in one of

errors there from Snow Canyon laps of
judgment on where to put that baseball

uh it’s got to be a a probably throwing
air back to home because it was cut off
in front of the bag at second so I would
only score that one one error yeah one
error with a with a wild pitch here is

Wilson’s playing at third tolman’s at
first and a swing and a miss and there

play at Glendale Community
College so is Jackson Kirby so is Yates
from Dixie
Glendale finally as a community college
I heard that got some out ofate tuition
waivers to do some more scholarship so
they’ve been really recruiting region n
as there’s a popup out there into right
field Hagen Reed tracks it down four
deep out number one so Smith flies out
to read and right and Darius Henderson
will step in this team though Snow
Canyon hitting 372 compare that to
Desert Hills coming tonight team batting
average
328 and we’re getting later into the
season where you’re starting to kind of
settle into what a would be a more true
average you know first couple weeks of
the Season you can be red hot and you
can cool off and obviously you can start
slow and pick up some you know the first
two weeks of the Season you can pick up
50 to 100 points in a in a weekend
Series right playing all those
tournaments but now you’re starting to
kind of settle now Darius Anderson who
steps in from the left side this is only
I think his eighth start of the Season
he had a an injury was he was hurt right
before the season started and they’ve
got him back hasn’t pitched yet through
some some early pre-season Innings and
he throws gas but we haven’t seen him in
a varsity game yet Chopper that’s going
to stay Fair hard charging and it’s
going to be Atkin covering and Atkin
cannot collect it in time and so uh
infield single how will score that by
Darius Henderson yeah that was just one
of those uh one of those slip UPS there
from the Thunder where it’s a tough play
to make anytime that it’s a chopper like
that first base rushing in pitcher
running over to try to go make the play
he’s got to quickly turn around and make
the play happened it’s tough he wasn’t
able to do it Henderson ends up on first
Henderson came in to finish my thought
before he swung and got the infield
single 444 the batting average since
he’s returned to the lineup so he’s been
very productive hard to keep him out
yeah only 18 at bats but eight
successful will make it 19 at bats with
nine hits now yeah good
numbers nice little addition to get this
is his 10th game he’s appeared in this
season so Aon hit a game almost here is
TK tank committed to Utah
Tech he’s been unbelievable on the mount
especially in the Crimson series a week
and a half ago where he came in in that
Extra Inning Marathon game and pitched
five and two3 and helped snow Canon come
from behind and win that game to sweep
the Mustangs and what was a rematch of
the state championship last year but he
hasn’t got the bats going his consisten
he like hitting below 200 coming into
tonight on the one-1 pitch that one just
missing B if you’re if your coach secis
he’s also a guy you love to have over
there at that Hot Corner because the kid
does have a massive arm and can uh can
make that throw easily and and really
again just a massive asset to have over
there at third base well and you you
know former Snow Canyon Warrior Isaac
lion I remember when he went to Grand
Canyon you know he was going to be a
two-way guy well now he’s just pitching
and he’s I think their number three
starter now as just a sophomore it is so
hard to hit and Pitch at the KOA level
you don’t see it often at all no you
have a bunch of guys that want to do it
now you got uh guys like sh Otani making
it popular but it is still not that
common especially at the college level
you’ll obviously see it at the high
school level but once you take that step
up especially to a D1 school um like a
Utah Tech like a Grand Canyon like
you’re talking about you’re not going to
see those two-way players nearly as
often lost
him so
Henderson with the single that was the
first hit of the game he’s now at second
and then a walk good patient AB by TK
and now here is
Rue Rue comes in hitting at 306 the
junior of course Isaac his older
brother of course his dad the pitching
coach Brandon lions 14 years in The Bigs
with the red well Blue Jays originally
drapped him went to the Red Sox for year
was traded in the Shilling deal went to
Arizona then had stance with the Jimmy
Leland and the Detroit Tigers then he
had a stop in
Houston then the Mets and then finished
his career in the Angels organization
did I get every team in there I think so

last week of the season last year and he
didn’t like that very much and
understandably so when you get that buy
in the last week and then a buy through
the first round of the playoffs you
don’t play a lot of baseball for a good
stretch well and and you look at the
schedule and it’s snow cany Dixie in the
final week of the regular season that is
the the two game series and right now
that’s one and two in the
RPI Henderson
walks good patient plate appearance and
now the bases are loaded just like they
were back in the second but Atkin worked
out of trouble well Talon Kelly’s been
on base every at bat here tonight so can

Reed is wasting no time isn’t he not at
all he’s uh taking every opportunity he
can to just get that pitch off
quick and challenging with the fast ball
down the middle and Corbin hen good job
to fight that one off Fabulous Freddy’s

Yankees y he second round pick part of
that Juan stto trade sent him over to
the Padres and just spent a couple of
pre- uh preseason some spring training
games there before he got over to the
white socks and he’s already uh I think
he won his first game in doublea with
the white socks he did he’s actually won
two games two games now yeah Swinson
draws the
walk and Damon in will step on
one-on-one out here in the top of the
six Warriors up by a
run yeah I think the Padres needed a
more experienced starter they th sent
Thorp and two more prospects to the

terrific region n baseball game uh
wasn’t decided to till the seventh
inning it wasn’t decided till the
seventh inning you know Desert Hills got
off to that two to nothing lead so early
their first two batters getting all the
way around and and again it was off of a
little bit of some mental mistakes from
Snow Canyon and it was after that they
just cleaned it up Snow Canyon was able
to go uh three up three down for three
innings in a row and really just keep
this game fairly clean up until right
there at the very end until tank Kelly
comes in with that last strike out to
win it but you got to give some credit
there in the fourth inning good fourth
inning from the from the Warriors to get
back into this game couple more runs
they tie it up and uh then again in the
in the fifth able to take that lead off
of the lead off single from Damon n that
makes him go all the way around score
and uh and ultimately be the winning run
some young fans just came up to our
broadcast Booth right behind play said
how hard was tank Kelly throwing there
in the seventh inning we had him over 90
on the gun I had him 91 over here yep

thought Atkin worked out of some trouble

you know Ka and goats after giving up
the two early runs really settled in so
both starters did a great job tonight
yeah they really did it was actually
quite the fun pitching battle that we
had there through the first few Innings
and and goats really you look at at what
he was able to do to just clean up and
and uh and take control of the game from
the mound was was really quite
impressive so some good pitching all
around though from both these teams
goats does get the win goes five and a
third give it just three hits two runs
and walk just three struck out six SNS
mechanical strikeouts TK comes in goes
one and 2/3 of one hit shut out baseball
struck out three uh they combined and
that’s a save for tank Kelly nice job
there getting the save opportunity and
takeen Advantage even after giving up
that hit in the bottom of the seventh
able to get that final strike out there
um you look at the pitching uh for Aton
he goes four Innings two runs on two
hits both earned walked four only struck
out one Reed came in and pitched one and
a third two hits the one run I think is
our a WP playmaker play of the game and
that’s that that that basis loaded walk
drawn by Guess Who tank Kelly I mean
that was the difference in the game in a
one-run game yeah you know I think we
Overlook being able to draw a walk as a
skill and it 100% is a skill it’s not
easy to do and especially in that high
pressure situation with the bases loaded
and yeah he was able to drw he had a
fantastic night tank did got to give a
credit I think our Jersey Mike sub of
the game though is is Andrew Wy I mean
yeah or tank Kelly i mean’s t comes and
gets the save you probably lean but how
about Wy one and 2/3 no runs no hits
struck out two walked one both those
closers were great yeah and especially
you know uh tank obviously having his
round over there at third base and
coming and stepping into the position on
the mound but U I’m looking at Wy he had
a chance of of saving this game and
really he did his part defensively he
did this part it came down to the fact
that they just didn’t score any more
runs after that but when he came in it
was a Bases Loaded situation and he
closed it out he was able to keep keep
the runs from coming in and uh that’s
always tough to do you have to go tank
Kelly probably as a Jersey Mike sub of
the game but if you were to give one for
each team it would be both the guys on
the back end yeah absolutely thank you

that you have to consider yeah and and
then the other guy is tank Kelly right
he’s one for one with two RBI three
walks didn’t get out all night and he
gets the save so you you can go the snow
canany pitching route or you can go
combo of tank hitting and you know
patient at the plate I mean you could go
co goats and Kelly tonight those are
probably the most deserving guys
absolutely uh I say let’s just give it
to both of them cuz why not you know
what we’re the ones that make the rules
so let’s make the rules yeah why why

there was the the Hayden Smith throw and
then the tag on the on the stolen base
attempt those are probably the top
defensive plays and then there was the
Andrew Wilson line shot that he blocks
goes unassisted Touch third and threw
across the diamond for the double play
that might be the one tonight yeah
that’s right up there and don’t forget
about uh bo wall with the throw out from
second down to second that was another
one of those great defensive plays and
now that I’m thinking about it we had a
lot of 32 game it was a lot of great
plays on that side of the ball there
were so many games so many choices I
yeah I I might defer to you on this one
there there were so many to choose from
here I like that Wilson play though
because it came with runners in scoring
position you know agree that that kept
Desert Hills Alive and we’ve been a lot
of w snow canc let’s go with Wilson at
third with the unassisted double play
that is our uh that is our mountland
supply defensive play of the game but
plenty to choose from some great
defensive plays tonight you love having
multiple choices you could go with in a
game that was settled by just one run

meanwhile this series will switch over
to Snow Canyon Friday night and the
Warriors probably be uh Andrew lion
against maybe Jax Tolman the probable
starting pitchers in that game on Friday
eight to2 currently top of the 7th it
will go to the bottom of the seventh so
8 to2 and uh we’ll let you guys know
more about that tomorrow on the drive in
the morning 7 to9 yeah and pin view
still leading it’s not quite final yet
bottom seventh they lead hurricane a
low-scoring game there one to nothing
but uh in that bottom of the seventh out
there in
Hurricane uh they’ve got one on with one
out and that Runner is at third base so
the Ty run is at third so we could see
some extras if they can play a run uh
maybe maybe even a walk-off situation
like we kind of saw an opportunity here
for the Thunder uh final thoughts Kaden
we saw the Thunder go Toe to Toe but
come up short and snow canons now 9 and0
as they stay perfect in region n
baseball listen I was a little worried
about this Thunder team coming into the
this season knowing that they were
filled with underclassman but they’ve
held strong to that third place seed in
the RPI rankings and after seeing him
here tonight I think they really can
compete with the top dogs they obviously
took down Dixie they hung right there
with Snow Canyon and those are your top
two teams with them being third why not
why not Desert Hills yeah and and you
know they’ve got some young guys that
you don’t know a ton about pitching guys
like Jax Tolman guys like Andrew Wy guys
like you know Hoy Atkin who started
tonight seen Hagen Reed all of a sudden
late in the season start to throw we’
seen Jay fil more throw Andrew Wilson
can throw a little bit but they’re
missing crew Christensen and Harmon ski
neither of those guys have pitched in a
couple weeks and we don’t know if
they’re going to be available if they
can get those two guys back and
available to pitch in the state
tournament that adds a plethora of
pitchers young all be it like you said
but but gives them a lot of options in
the pitching Department that’s going to
be the biggest thing for the playoffs
and we’ll talk more about that as we get
closer but pitching rotations is always
a big deal so for for a team like Desert
Hills it really comes down to just that
what pitchers do you have on hand yeah
again the uh final down east uh stats
from tonight Desert Hills fall Snow
Canyon wins it
3-2 you look at the uh the final line of
five hits to score three runs one air
for Snow Canyon two runs on four hits
and two airs for the Thunder this has
