Will happen or could happen um and from Monahan’s perspective I think he’s done you know he’s done his best so far to try to make uh Hugh’s job a little bit easier like he’s right now I believe he’s fifth in team scoring fourth or fifth so have you

Freeze can you hear me now uh yes yes you you freeze like you you get a a storm from Dan as push to you there was there was a cold breeze I felt it yeah so I was saying right now I I don’t know know where it got cut off

On the team I think that there’s a lot of advantages to keeping him if the if you know he takes a HomeTown discount and and really wants to stay in Montreal uh I don’t doubt that but I think it doesn’t quite fit into the plans that uh

Both both Hughes and Gorton uh sort of setup here and it would be I would consider it a failure if they did not trade him at the trade deadline time um I’m I’m positive that with what he’s shown so far and he’s shown that he’s he’s been able to stay healthy uh that

You you are able to get at the very least the first for him uh so you’ll have to look at the kind of teams that are in the equation when you look at how they back up on on Center uh you still you still have Suzuki and Doc that are

I’m not I’m not surprised um you know kovich the only thing there I I I can think of is because I like I like his size and I like the some of the physicality he brings he’s very consistent in my eyes he doesn’t make a

Lot of mistakes I I do like him but I just don’t know if the management sees him as part of their future um just given the amount of of uh prospects that they have at that position right now so he might be he might be part of uh a

Package deal that goes out at the trade deadline time uh and so that’s maybe why there’s sort of sacrificing him a little bit more than anybody else uh Baron you know we’re seeing ups and downs with with uh Justin Baron uh it’s unfortunate because like some Knights it looks like he’s he’s

Bringing his G aame and other nights it looks like he’s right back to the reason why he was sent down to Laval in the first place uh and that’s something that he has to really settle between his ears I I think he’s his own worst enemies

From time from time to time and he doesn’t he loses track or vision of the game and he gets caught up with the in the moment of the game when the pressure is on and you know he can’t he can’t do that he has to he has to be a lot more

Consistent and and continue to contribute obviously offensively but his his greatest area of concern right now is defense and um you know uh that’s something he’s going to have to improve on but I’m not surprised that it’s these two right now uh what I’m seeing is also a parade of

And we talked about this the other night coach uh a parade of different defensemen that are being used on on the on their opposite side and right now I think Martin St Louis is just looking to see who can handle responsibilities on their offside uh that’s that’s what I’m trying to see

Uh I’m trying to understand is are they doing that for the purposes of saying okay well we need to address a a an area that needs immediate concern or maybe this Defender can fill in the gap on his opposite side and we don’t have to worry

Themselves in that position in the last four years uh but we’ve seen it with uh um uh the Devils now and and these kind of like this is part of that growing process we talked about like right now we’re seeing this nice pleasant push Surprise by Philadelphia but I wouldn’t be surprised

If the next year they take a step back or maybe even later on in this year uh even though they’re solid um from what I’m seeing but I I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back a bit and part of it is getting that right combination of

Of players and uh you were saying before coach they need some veterans in the lineup that brings that leadership quality to the team I’m talking about teams like Buffalo and um to a lesser degree Detroit uh um you know even even the Islanders to a a lesser degree um

But they also are lacking that leadership quality to to the team um whereas I think the West is more established in terms of teams that have good good veterans on most of those teams that are competing for a playoff position and even the ones that are on

If those other two three Defenders coming up uh definitely materialized then you know you dealt you dealt from a a position of strength and addressed the an area of weakness on your team and then Mr was wait for you to give me an answer more deeper about that if

They weren’t getting the go the solid goal tending that they sort of uh had originally anticipated in somebody like uh does and um uh the other goalie the man as well um these guys were supposed to produce a little bit more than we had anticipated and they they just weren’t living up to

Expectations you know fast forwarding uh we see now that the team not only have they picked up you know a couple key players along the way they’ve gotten healthier they’ve jelled much better together you could tell that there’s a a lot the chemistry is is much better now

Between the lines and the players there the guys are responding uh you know gyac is their probably their leader not just in points uh uh I think he’s up to about I think he’s at about a point a game right now but you had guys like Joshua

Ru was was doing very well when he was there um you know obviously Logan Mayu is is starting to really pick it up now uh Simo was doing well and and and so it’s good to see that development happening and right now they’re believing in in themselves as a group

And more importantly like does is really turned things around like I think now his his goals against has finally come back up to 900 his not his goals against his save percentage um and he’s making some key saves you could you could see the confidence in his play um and the

Defense is a lot more uh a lot more unified as well and and they’re playing together as a team and when you have those ingredients it’s going to be hard to beat them and that’s what we’re seeing right now H great point about that a lot of

Here’s a guy that came really out of nowhere it’s it’s not that there wasn’t uh good expectations for him but nobody would have no nobody would have guessed that he’d come up and perform to the level that he has and he’s looked like a Wy veteran in the process like not much

Phases him during the course of a game he seems to be very uh controlled under stressful situations um when there’s pressure and he he consistently keeps making right decisions uh all the time time um and even when he makes a mistake he gets himself back into position uh

Quickly so that he he tries to alleviate that error so I I I would say that um I mean uh massar I I liked I liked what I was uh seen in terms of his progress unfortunately now with the concussion hopefully it’s not something that’ll

Keep him out of the lineup very long but he’s at a stage now where he’s shown pretty much uh uh exactly what he has and I mean he has to move up he has to move up to to lval um and and experience a different style there because he’s got nothing

Else to prove at that level um and then um I would I would say Hudson um you know I would put him in the same category in terms of uh we have to see him at Laval um it’ll be interesting if we do get to see him even if it’s just

For three or four games this year in Montreal I think that that opportunity might present itself depending on how far uh his college team goes um in the playoffs um uh we’ll see but um I I think he’s he’s also harnessed his defensive uh game a little bit more and

We saw that in in action at the world juniors this year for Team USA um where his focus wasn’t let me see how many points I can get here uh his Focus was more on how can I be more defensively responsible and we were seeing that he

Wasn’t making a lot of mistakes on a a team that uh you know they questioned uh things like the size of their defense they questioned the the speed of the defense um and he he turned out to be a player a Defender that the their coach was using under all different

Circumstances and at high pressure points of the game and he I I think he held up magnificently like great comments right now I think some people step up right there thanks so much for all the likes like people talk about may be for Rick Bengal for that one
