The PGA TOUR heads back to Houston this week for the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course where Tony Finau returns to defend his title. The American has been inconsistent in 2024 but he’s still recorded a T6 among three top-20s in his last six starts. He also holds a course-record-tying 62 from the second round in 2022. FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to action after his dramatic win at THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago. Scheffler has won two events in a row this season on the PGA TOUR (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard prior to his triumph at TPC Sawgrass) and has not finished outside the top 20 in any event this season. He’s looking to become the first golfer to win three-straight events on the PGA TOUR since 2017. Wyndham Clark will also be teeing it up in Texas. The only golfer who has beaten him in his last two starts is the current World No. 1. Clark also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier in 2024 and claimed 16th at Memorial Park in 2022. Others to look out for are Jason Day, Will Zalatoris and Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati.

Oh man he doesn’t miss very often terrific second shot there more than 50% of the players inside the top 10 at this point every year since 2009 have gone on to finish inside the top 10 after the regular season as Scotty takes care of his business there keeps a little bit

Closer he’s puted much better since he’s gone to this Mallet style putter bang with some authority too maybe that’ll wake Scotty up as he gets to six under par within two of the Lead I mean he’s so good at these shots around the green he’s probably a little disappointed with that one surrounding that water around the green Scotty Sheffer and he does make his birdie a little bit of help from that left Edge but it goes down for [Applause]

Him this an eight iron on the way needs to get down it looks like oh it did I have high expectations for him Kurt yeah it got down he is passed the hall yeah how many times do you see an eyes going up and down up and down the flag

Stick three straight birdies would mean a share of the lead and Scotty Sheffer has joined the group at nine under par he began the a forb had that early bogey after the birdie at three but now here he is finds himself a top the leaderboard once

Again well it’s way up in the air and I like it uh yeah no surprise that’s been the show for about two years now as we send you down to Damon hack yeah this looks nice stay and will it stay watch out this one needs to look out too that’s going to

Get all the momentum can you believe it will the rough save it no it does not so Ry gets saved and Sheffer does not missed it left in the water here yesterday same shot not today brandle no this one’s looking great w just clears and beautiful shot

So hard to do you know hit a high cut off a hook lie out of the rough trying to erase that double bogey I got this ball out on the right he could have gone to school on those putts he saw [Applause] before fourth closest shot in two on 16

Today and sheffler gave it a really good run so driving it down there you see how close he was standing to that ball wow just spectacular Scotty shuffler two great iron shots in a row you talked about that noise that Roar brag it’s only his 26th putt right

Here and that is his eighth birdie of the day Scotty shuffler is now at nine under par off of the right ball above his feet got to get look in the middle of the green well this is where his trajectory helps throw it way up in the

Air at the movement when it hits the green beautifully done and downhill moving left to right looking for nine birdies on the day 43t here he’s looking to get out of 18 with a few less putts today it looks like he will that was great speed right

There you except for the three putt yesterday it’s been wonderful putting from him 25 putts round to 28 yesterday including that three putt and he’s going to tap in there a little bit of a rough patch coming down the stretch but it looked a lot today like what he did all

Right Scotty so nice 66 fought back to finish strong at the end how would you characterize your day and how it went out there yeah I felt like I did a lot of stuff really well out there today um felt like I played better than my score

You know I had a few few shots that I didn’t really get rewarded for and somewhat punished for pretty good shots um but overall yeah it was nice to finish with those two birdies are um hit a really good shot in the 16 good shot

In the 17 and um yeah I feel like I did a lot of things a lot of things well today the um crowd Just Energy out there there’s so many there’s just so much love for you among the fans here and what’s it like to just know that you

Bring so much joy to so many people with the golf you play and the way you play the game yeah it’s a it’s a treat to be able to play out here for a living it really is um I can’t emphasize that enough and to have the support of the

Fans out here especially home stay is really fun um you know I don’t I don’t look up very much when I’m playing I like to do my best to stay stay kind of in my own little world out there um you know sometimes it can be a bit emotional

When they’re cheering for you really loud it’s it’s a great feeling and um I do my best to stay kind of in the moment and stay present and so I try not to look up too much but I really do appreciate you know what they do out

There and I really do hear the screams and um you know it is it’s fun to be playing in front of a nice crowd did you have a favorite shot that you hit today or a shot that pumped you up with how you executed it um

I mean I hit two really really good iron shots into um 16 and 17 um I felt like I hit starting on whole 12 I felt like I hit a lot of really really good golf shots like a shot into actually really I guess starting on 10 I hit a really good

Iron shot in there really good shot into 11 um 12 really good shot but mostly I think the ones that stick in my head was how I bounced back after the you know unlucky break there on 15 I kind of bounced back there hit a great shot in

16 and then um the one on 17 was was really nice that’s a a really tough pin to get it close to and I hit a shot that came off exactly how I wanted to and was fortunate to get in there close to the pin do you have a strategy of like when

You have a shot like that on 15 how long you allow yourself to feel like disappointment or does that just kind of depend on the shot in the day um I don’t know it’s hard to say I mean like that one there is just I mean it’s a horrendous break really

Um there’s really just nothing else to say had a great shot and the ball goes in the water it’s really you know it’s not not great but it’s h it happens it’s part of the game um so I could really kind of walk up there knowing that I hit

A good shot and I just did my best to get up and down and you know I failed to do so the pin was kind of sitting in a weird spot there I hit hit a good putt that didn’t go in but overall I mean I

Can’t get too upset I hit a really good shot you know I did I always talk about my process and that’s a shot there where I did exactly what I wanted to do and I just got unlucky um and so as long as my process is good then then I’m in a good

Spot where did you think that shot was going to end up like when you’re washing in the air did you think it was going to be within 5 10 ft yeah for sure and just just happened to did you expect it to spin back even off the green or even I

Didn’t expect it to spin back I didn’t expect it to spin back off the green and I didn’t expect it to go on the water um especially with the way the crowd was you know they got really excited so I assume it got pretty close to the hole

But you know I’m proud of how I bounced back there hit a really great shot into 16 um you know that’s one that may maybe understated on the scorecard or on the coverage I mean that was a really hard shot that I had and um you

Know I hit just nearly a perfect for to get a good look there for Eagle um hit a good putt didn’t go in but you know really proud how I bounced back you’re no obviously no stranger to winning um with the chance to win three straight tomorrow what’s kind of the process in

Your mind do you allow yourself to think about that at all and just kind of what the significance of that would be I mean not really I uh wi in the last two doesn’t help me do anything tomorrow you know we’re still tied for the lead or

One back I don’t know what what the guys behind me are doing right now on 18 but um yeah just stick to my process I think it’s going to be another pretty challenging day out there with with high winds and um just stick to my process

And control what I can control out there all right thanks y’ thanks Scot yeah thanks for watching the PGA Tour on YouTube to watch another video click here and to subscribe click here

  1. This course is my home course. It is public and beautifully preserved. The course itself is quite short, but the rough is SO long. The greens are stupidly steep and fast. I hope I get Scottie’s signature and many other signatures tomorrow.
