Torching a Titleist, Vokey Deisgn, Oil Can Finish golf wedge. This was the 4th time before the desired effect was achieved.

First step is to take the wedge apart from the shaft, cutting the ferrule makes this easier.

Next, soak the steel in Cola to peel off any protective layers currently on the wedge. This process can take anywhere from an hour to a full day.

Once the bubbles stop forming from the wedge in the Cola solution, wash the wedge with water and lightly scrub with a scotch pad to remove any remaining protective coats.

Now for the best part! Used above was an oxygen-acytelene torch which provided an effect much quicker than a hand torch.

Depending on the type of steel used, the effect can vary.

Shout out to Doug for doing this!
