In the first round of the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open, Padraig Harrington was forced to hit his second shot from his knees at the par-5 16th hole. After successfully escaping the tree and pine straw, Harrington was able to save par on the hole.

The PGA TOUR heads back to Houston this week for the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course where Tony Finau returns to defend his title. The American has been inconsistent in 2024 but he’s still recorded a T6 among three top-20s in his last six starts. He also holds a course-record-tying 62 from the second round in 2022. FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to action after his dramatic win at THE PLAYERS Championship two weeks ago. Scheffler has won two events in a row this season on the PGA TOUR (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard prior to his triumph at TPC Sawgrass) and has not finished outside the top 20 in any event this season. He’s looking to become the first golfer to win three-straight events on the PGA TOUR since 2017. Wyndham Clark will also be teeing it up in Texas. The only golfer who has beaten him in his last two starts is the current World No. 1. Clark also won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier in 2024 and claimed 16th at Memorial Park in 2022. Others to look out for are Jason Day, Will Zalatoris and Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati.

This has had a way left he’s about as hard as he possibly can now what do we have here we got Craig Stadler without the towels on his knees remember that here’s Padre Carrington and you think he works on this shot BR he does he practices

Hitting it off his knees you see it all the time on social media yeah he does he’s got no problem your references the 13th hole of Tory Pines when Craig Statler had the towel under his leg that wasn’t a far off area from where Tony

Feno had hit his drive on 16 look how many guys would get in there and have some little pause you know not this guy and the key to the shot I’ve hit a fair few Fair number of these you almost got to feel like you come over the top of it

You know and I’ve seen him do it uh you know he’ll hit drivers like this 280 yards he never ever wants to stop and he’s north of 50 years of age he’s done everything he can do in the sport almost yeah I mean Central to that was

Maintaining or picking up speed he knew he had to increase his speed if he wanted to be compe still compete on the PGA tour and he’s been able to do that I had a br brilliant conversation with him about the mentality you have to have once you do pick up the speed Podrick

Harrington’s fourth shot and only four players in the history of the sport have ever won a PGA Tour event in a PGA Tour Champions event in the same season Podrick has the easier part versus the harder part of trying to win out here how about a par five here at 16 for

Harrington remember this is the hole where he was hitting off his knee a few shots ago Steve he elected to putt that ball that is you know his fourth shot a lot of players have chipped those I know I I thought I’d see the putter more thanks for watching the PGA Tour on
