In this video, I use data i gather from the GC3 launch monitor to check what happens in terms of spin, launch angle, shot shape, angle of attack etc when using different-height golf tees. I wanted to see if there was a shot shape pattern I could use by using different tees and whether by using different height tees could help on course golf management in terms of shot shapes for that hole, trajectries etc.

Right guys today I’m talking teeh high so I’m going to do a little experiment here at leisure pod dedicated venues using the gc3 launch monitor capture some data hitting driver with the three different T’s the big the medium the small going to see if there’s differen in launch angles spins ball speeds

Potential Club Ed speeds and now for gamer that’s probably the tea I would tend to go to when I’m doing my long drive I definitely H it up a lot higher but interesting now I can get access to the data to see what actual differences

There are so can we use the te’s to help navigate our way around the golf courses through certain situations before I just Peg it down hopefully take the left side out if it was OB down the left something like that but we’ll interesting with the data does the shot shape actually happen

Right so I’m going to go capture the data so let’s give a go right guys so we’re going to start with the pink te’s so this is probably the standard height what most of you guys are using and me as well when I’m out on the course actually the ball sits

About half the ball above the head of the drive feels safe from here feels like I got chance to hit in the middle of the face obviously I want to control that spin and the launch so we know with the face optimate we want to hit above

Center so we got low spin hit down the bottom we’re going to get high spin toe draw heel Cuts so we’re going to capture the data we’ll go through the results of the ball data at the end but from now we’ll probably see a shape pattern which

Will probably start so pink te’s let’s hit a few just a nice solid start so gaming wise when I’m out on the course my launch angle obviously we know we want to hit up on the ball we want to launch it higher with low spe spin so

When I’m on the game end I’m not doing the long drive I’m looking for around 2 3° up which straight away that’s 1.6 de up slightly out twin but I’d call that pretty much neutral path very smooth 150 mph ball speed 170 spin 2270 launch angle a little low so again

I have just knocked this to 7 and 1 half so I’m just going to play around this over the next couple of days may increase the left but that’s maybe where the higher tegs with the lower Loft on the driver will come in but let’s hit a few more better

Control so again showing perfect angle of attack for me 2.2 face was slightly open but spin for a 29 for a little spin ball smoing at one 18 Club head speed so let me know in the comments below which is your go-to te height are you a pink Castle fan are you

A bit of tubes fan again having the right semi that face just open but ball speeds up at 170 from a little smoothie so like you guys well I will react to where the tea Heights are so that is a comfortable shot shape what I feel from here

So again that’s out to in so let’s try and it a little into it can I change the path there we go just holding its line carries jumped to 296 it’s got the spin down to 2 three just a little smoothie wow smooth 18 Club headed speed carrying

297 again it’s the angle of attack one degree up which is perfect for when I’m out and I’m trying to shoot a score not just trying to smash it as hard as I can launch in at 10 point six I’ll take that right one more that should be a

Pull again good numbers just obviously slightly pulled that club head speed 122 got the ball speed a little towy draw that was a little gear effect so definitely just towed that a little high so right guys so we moved on to the orange High te this would put a little

Bit of feir into quite a lot of you to be honest me as well a little bit some of you if you’re coming a little bit too too steep you’re going to be going under the ball so unless you change your swing this probably is not the te for you but

Already I’m not going to change ball position I’m just going to try hit the same shot with the higher te but it’s already making me want to feel where with the pink I was hitting slightly out to in this one’s already wanting me to promote the inside into out get that high draw

Going going to make me want to hit up on this one so I’m expecting where my angle attack was are at 2° this will probably jump to the four five but let’s see so orange te’s we definitely got a bit hint up on this one let’s check the patterns on

This all right first one carries jumped to 300 the club has speed 120 ball speeds 175 launching at 10 angle of attack three up Chang my path already into out very slightly although it looks a neutral path actually zero path there’s the draw shape I was expecting good spin numbers as

Well oh that’s a bad one so that is definitely what scares me with this TEEG the t is looking good but that shot pulled to the right where I don’t get on my left side enough and it turns over I definitely don’t get that with the pink

Te’s so that is the shot what scares me we’ve going after a higher launch especially not getting to practice as much as we used to that one’s just in play but again just turning over so let me know would you play this te high or does it scare you that’s

Crushed little off the bottom so it’s got to spin up a little bit couple more numbers are looking good for Smoothie swings but that little toe draw low spin that does scare me when the metal Cards start to come out again guys one more the numbers are good but

Definitely a few more Mis strikes which from that tea which is why this TEEG does scare me a little bit if we’re looking for minimizing that dispersion it’s that little tow drawer very low spin but again that’s for 7 half degree right last one little bit off the bottom so I’m

Guessing a little higher spin yeah 3 three could definitely gain that just brings in a few more of the M strikes for me but we’ll check the data anyway all right right guys the lower te now so the as you see the ball sits in the middle

Of the club face but it’s definitely nothing above that club head if you’re one who’s coming in steeper and you’re skying a ball this is probably the tease you’ve been going towards but how much Spin and distance do I actually use so again this is 7 and 1 12° so we’ve not

Tick down so when would I use this probably if I want to really try and eliminate the left hand side OB water down the left I Peg it down what I have to make sure is I cover and rotate properly through so let’s see how I react to the

Lower te I’m going to keep the te keep the ball in the same position I can’t hit as up on this one so I’m just going to top the ball so I will naturally just react so let’s just hit the ball feel safe definitely where the orange one

Definitely brings a few few misses in felt solid off the face again that’s going to promote the cut I’m down at 7 and 1/ 12° cleds not too far down but angle of attack already is 1° down so which is going to push my path to the right so I really got

To make sure I exit Left just trying to cut back definitely low launch B speeds up there though so we look at the numbers more in depth but a quick look there 2° out T expect 1.4 de down all speed still 170 spinning at 256 it’s not actually adding too much spin that’s

Better just left the face a little Bit shows with this tea I’m just struggling to control that face a bit just leaving it smidge open as I’m hitting down on it all right let’s go aim down the left should cut to Target [Applause] there we go Fairway finder that’s one guys still 172 Club Edge speed 119 Back Spin

24 carrying 297 still one more of these was that a flute that’s B we warming up as I said I would adapt to most he’s last couple of shots still coming out low spin again is 7 and 1 12° but those numbers 176 ball speed lower launch so even if I’m going

To go in the trees just going to hit the trees and come down let’s go check the data out all right guys let’s have a look at the data and let’s have a look at the results so let’s have a look so we’ve got the pink the yellow and the orange

So in terms of ball speed again these are just my smooth swings today so and I’ve kept in a lot of the lots of good strikes in there so we’ve just captured everything on here so ball speeds for the pink which is probably the go-to teg

As we said ball speed 171 the yellow Peg down P speed was actually higher on some of those strikes could be that I was getting warmer as we go as well the pink T’s were the first balls I hit so obviously that increases a little bit the orange ball speeds 172 standard

Deviation them all not much in it at all so in terms of ball speed no difference on there on what teg I choose from there terms of launch angle so as I said in the video I have just knocked the Cobra down to 72° may want to play around with when I’m doing

My big speed training I want the lower Loft but on the game I might Notch it up just a little bit as you can see we’re launching so with the orange te’s we’re launching on average about 9° on there but I was only hitting about three up

Where I would tend to get about four five up when I really start to launch it so that would be okay with that one so with the pink it was launching at about 9° again I could I could custom fit that one and get that up but the yellow one

The lowy as as we can see launching only at 6.2 so in the summer months that ball is definitely going to chase so in terms of spin rates the pink T’s at the start averaging spin 2,800 which is very gameable spin for me we know we’re going

To keep that in play the orange T definitely more Optimum spin 2,400 but that was standard deviation of 450 so we’re getting some low Spinners so the scary bit as we said with the orange te is that that what toe dips out but um with the yellow the lowy we spin

Up 3,000 which when I want to keep it in play spin is my friend it’s just can we control the big cuts on there in terms of spin good numbers on there launch I could play around with them as a custom fit but good ball speeds nothing in it

We carry distances there’s a big drop off when it comes to the small te even though the ball speeds are different because of the launch conditions and the extra spin carry takes a big drop so with the small T’s it was carrying averaging at 260 with the pink T’s we’re

Averaging 286 carry and with the orange T’s we were averaging 289 Standard defishing 12 so obviously some pushing 300 some dropping off so but the further balls would have been the to strikes which does scare you when you got that metal card in play and if we see the

Graph at the top so as we said can we use teg to negate different holes on the golf course for different circumstances so as you can see from the pink and the yellow te the natural shot was to be pushed to the right and with the orange te the

Tend was to be left of Target which again so on hols if i’ got a big par five what’s open want a big high drawer potentially get the orange tea out give it a whack if I just want to get the little cut ball power phase in play I’m

Thinking the pink T we’re going to to stay with the castle so tubed you’ll be happy with that quick look at the club data so just to say with the club head speed I tried to keep the clubber speed as close as I could with them all which

So the pink T which again was the first balls I was hitting was 118.5 standard deviation only two so there are thereabouts yellow T’s 119 the orange T’s did increase my club headed speed which it does make you want to hit harder from the inside and on the up and

Again if you look at the path numbers so if the higher T is going to promote the in to out which for standard deviation still quite a neutral path to be fair 0.2 so with the pink and the yellow is definitely promoting a slight out to win

Which is shown in the attack degrees so with the orange te’s the high te averaging 2.6 de hitting up with the pink 1.7 de up which is pretty perfect conditions if we find that part of the golf club and and with the yellow small we’re actually attacking neutral but the

Tendency is to hit down on that one so interesting data I think when it comes to gaming and the score card or the medal card is in the hand I think the pink T is going to stay as the gamer as it just feels a safer tea height if I

Really want to go launching after one I’m definitely going to Peg it up higher get the orange te would I use the real low down te for me probably not I have my 21° iron which carries about 245 250 so not much difference and I feel a lot

More in control than I did hitting down with a 7 and2 degree driver so for me personally I wouldn’t be using a low down t on the driver I’d just get out the 34 iron and hit that to not far off the same numbers on there but anyway

Hope you found that interesting guys let me know in the comments below what’s your go-to teg right plenty more to come so till next time guys ciao

  1. I've got my Radspeed at 10.5 as I reasoned the fairways aren't running, is this too high? Don't use castles, but considering it now. Thanks.
