I just finished playing my first round of the year and look at this personally I’m not a snow disc offer I do not like playing in the snow and frankly I wouldn’t have played this tournament unless like I’ve already told you about in my birthday video I needed a

Rating and because I needed a rating I didn’t film anything it was actually one of my least favorite types of tournaments to play ever and I wouldn’t have signed up for it if there was literally any other choice to get a rating before Tuesday’s rating update

It’s a one round C tier not a flex start everyone started shotgun start at 9:00 in the morning I was on hold 3 which walk into now we’re going to play a slight cooldown round and talk through everything that happened because I knew coming into this that according to the

Pars that were given out before the tournament in our caty book I needed to shoot 14 down to get 1020 plus rated and I needed 1019 or above to bump my February rating to 990 or above this did turn out to change slightly because whole one was supposed to be a par 4

Even though it definitely is a par 3 and they changed that to my opinion the correct par but I didn’t know that until I got the whole one so in my mind I knew I could take four pars and no bogeys I’ve never really played in anything

That is remotely like this except for yesterday when I came out to do a little practice round because up until late last night my wife and I were debating over and over again should I even do this is it worth it or should I just drop and we came to a conclusion but

First whole three the teap pads were a little covered in snow and this was basically the only section that was clear during my little practice round I had thrown my Centurion which ended up flipping up a little too much and going a little straight and so I decided to

Disc up to a dynasty and just put that on a wide Hiser and get it up to the basket I have no faith in I’m going to play well right now to be completely honest with you but I want to throw some shots basically right where that landed

I landed on the other side of the basket because instead of throwing that Hiser that would push back to the left and be in line with the basket I basically threw it straight at the basket it flipped up a little finished into the hillside left and I had a circle two

Putt to start that I just tickled the last chain on the left side and missed but since there’s so much snow on the ground three putting was going to be very hard to do tapped in my first par but I knew that was one of the four that

I could take now the reason that my wife and I debated so heavily if I should play this at all is because this course like a lot of just normal Denver courses if you don’t beef them up with ob or make Safari layouts it’s very hard for

The bottom half of the field to shoot poorly if you can throw 300 to 350 not even necessarily seriously accurately it’s pretty easy to not take a ton of bogeys at a lot of these courses so you’re going to have to go really under par in order to get a good rating and

Even though I knew that the line was going to be 14 under or actually 13 yeah I have a lot of stuff going on in my body right now so if I play like trash that’s all right not too worried about it but ultimately what it came

Down to for me was realizing that the only reason I would not play would be for ego honestly with this audience and my goal to get onto the pro tour and get a tour card I know that if I shoot poorly I don’t necessarily hear the

Chatter cuz I don’t go and look for it but I feel some sort of like obligation to play well because of you guys and so I realized that knowing that you can come out here and Shoot 5 under par and it be like 920 or 930 rated and that

Just means that you’re maybe off a little bit on the day because the bottom of the field can’t shoot so bad I realized that I had to play because I’m 988 rated right now I need to get to 9990 this is the only chance that I have

Have to do that in February early registration opens the 1st of March for 990 Plus for three tournaments that are on the pro tour that I want to get into and ultimately that’s the goal getting into those events and with that realization that literally the only

Downside is my ego cuz if I shoot a really really bad rated round I’m not even going to drop below 985 it’s going to be very hard for me to do so I have this like nerdy ratings calculator sheet so that’s how I know all that but having

Missed one of the four holes that I know I can miss I thought I only had three more parts to give so we took this ey blend Chariot which is a little bit over stable and just ripped it out at hole two I left it wider wow I’m going to

Throw so bad right now probably want to just go home and make this video but it makes more sense to be out on the actual holes this one luckily I’m not going to put this out I parked it 12 to 15 ft which to me unfortunately didn’t feel

Super parked today I’m actually putting with the popcorns from Clash dis and that’s not necessarily because they’re the putter I’m going to be using for the year they were just kind of the most confident that I was yesterday during my practice round if you guys saw my

Birthday video I was putting with these and with the marbles and but for some reason when it got a little bit extra snow Snowy out here I figured the extra glad that these had would help but ultimately everything should fly the same inside the circle and I should be

Able to make my putts which I was able to do here to bring me to one under through two trying to get on a good birdie streak since I’d relearned those kind of forehand cues I trusted myself to go over the forehand gap which I think is a little bit better on our

Third hole only about 280 ft so I threw a scepter was calling for an ace run and actually very similar to that one I thought I had threw the perfect distance the sceps are just pretty glidey for a stable 9s speeed and I wound up actually

In this exact spot I did something very similar it was a little more straight on but I hit the cage and so at this point I’m trying to not let score get in my head I’m already pretty nervous that I missed two of the four holes that I can

Miss but I also know that I can birdie or eel all the rest of these 16 holes I know that my putts all over the basket so it’s just dialing that in a little bit and at this point too I think it’s awesome that I had a guy named Sage on

My card who was starting perfect putting it close to the basket making it short little butts and that’s helpful to push me because honestly I didn’t even care if I won this tournament I just wanted to get the rating that I wanted cuz I didn’t even want to be here to be honest

But I knew it’s what I had to do to give myself the best chance to pursue my long-term overall goals of getting closer to playing on the pro tour even if that’s just a couple events this year one of the other reasons that I really wasn’t super keen on playing today is

Because of lost discs the snow was was higher than it was now it’s so crazy how fast stuff just goes away when the song comes out in Denver so hopefully this will be gone soon I can like film normally tomorrow but IID actually lost an interval in both of my pharaohs that

I was bagging during my practice round one of them is on the next tole literally I think on the green like probably 25 30 ft from the basket couldn’t find it one of them is a perfect Landing Zone and then another one I kind of shank into a tree but that

Led me to put this white interval in the bag and learn about using Carpenter chalk which I bought from Home Depot to put on the disc so that when it goes into the snow you can kind of see some marks I don’t think it works like that

At least it hasn’t for me and this is supposed to be like the strongest stuff but I knew with white discs I didn’t want to have the chance of losing them that costs a re essentially if you can’t find a disc in the time and the TD said

That you could use this or ribbons and apparently that’s an actual pdj Ru that I didn’t know but whole 6 is 390 Straight Ahead there and with this new one in the bag that I haven’t thrown in a while I just kind of ripped it on a low beaming

Hiser wow um this is not going anywhere close to where I wanted to unfortunately which would make sense as you guys watch the rest of the video but I ended up putting that one pin High about 30 ft to the right of the basket I step up there

To that putt trying not think about it just opening my hand with the popcorn letting the Glide of the putter get its way into the chains and I harded it starting on a little bit of a checkerboard pattern where we go par Birdie Park birdie and I’m hoping to

Break that on the next hole even though it’s likely the hardiest birdie on the course that’s you’re going up onto this cake mound from 425 ft away I ended up really chalking up this Pharaoh which I’m not going to be throwing again I don’t have a spotter I think I’ll put it

Close the basket but we’ll actually throw an ey blend Pharaoh as black that I haven’t really thrown much at all um to replace the one that I lost on whole 14 but I basically just beam a lime drive at the basket and got myself into a really good birdie position right here

Putting up the basket just told myself actually I was a little closer don’t think too much just extend the hand that didn’t happen but instead it basically full left side chain out except it wasn’t a chain out because that implies that it was the basket’s fault but it was my fault so the

Checkered board that I seem so intense on creating with this round is continuing to form two through five is not where you want to be but luckily we entering the birdie alley stretch of the course and I wasn’t really thinking ahead on holes I just knew I needed to

Execute shots so stepping up to Hole 8 300 ft straight ahead I took my Eclipse mvy just put it on a rope I parked I I genuinely think I like flushed all of the everything for my muscles because the end of this round so we’re not

Throwing it great but that M at one point in time was underneath the basket earlier today go to your home oh wow we’ll get back to that later you can see the basket over this way it’s a short little 270t hole in a really easy position to get the birdie

Or at least get really close thrown zones there I thrown Putters there but today and because yesterday during practice I was really liking this cap wrap so overstable just put it on Hiser and it’s not going to go far past 275 I decided to throw this also I’m eating

This like Costco licorice that was like on sale was like $4 for 2 lbs of it so good okay yeah that might actually be better than the tournament the spikiest of Spike heisers with the most overstable disc I guess we could do that today there don’t seem to be a lot of

Reds in here but Reds are definitely the best okay so we like are pretty parked over here so finally got a birdie but in the tournament I was right here staring at a 22- footer thinking about put it in the middle of the basket and I didn’t do

That I missed the left side woo hanging out with the check ofo pattern it’s coming into full Focus now and if you’re counting so far I have given myself a look on every single hole including the first one it was only 35 ft and I’ve hit

Metal on every single hole that I missed and three of them have been chain outs so I’m getting it the right height I’m just not really putting it online full 10 is 225 this is a Zone shot that I should be able to execute in my sleep in

The actual round since I just pared that hole I parked it and made the PLT of course however with the par on the last hole I realized that was my four holes that I can miss if I get any more pars I’ll have to get one of the eagles which

Hole one definitely should be able to get it’s a big wide long Hiser it’s 485 ft but it’s downhill in 17 I’ve gotten to about 40 ft all the last times I’ve played it haven’t been able to connect on one of the putts and that one’s about

470 up a hill so full Flex Shot and my whole Mantra during this whole time was oh no way maybe you just don’t have to think that wasn’t the Mantra during the whole rest of the round after I knew that I’d already missed four holes through the first seven I told myself to

Just execute the next shot stepping up to whole 11 I had parked it with the scepter during the practice round but you get a little bit extra tournament juices that you don’t quite realize especially in how this scepter went long and I missed the pot on the other hole

So I thought about discing up to a cap R but I just told myself just keep it on higher the whole way that I kept on Hydra the whole way but unlike that wi beforehand that was ter that had terrible mechanics I kind of connected with it it flipped up a

Little bit and ended up juicing the basket to about 40 ft since I was already struggling with my circle one putts and I was putting all in line I decided to try out the straddle stepper I had some success with the straddle Putt in 2022 when I first started

Playing last year I went all inline but I honestly didn’t get enough practice I just didn’t really focus on practice putting nearly as much as I did in my first year of playing and I was a way better putter during my first year and a

Way worse thrower and now I am so much better at throwing the disc but I miss so many more putts definitely think I should throw Zone cuz even this really bad forehand is still past the basket but I actually set up for my putt right after getting potentially big putted by

Fellow car member Travis but trusting that straddle stepper committed to a putt and put it right in the heart of the chains and we finally don’t have a checker board scorecard anymore I hadn’t at this point thought about how many I got or how many that I needed I just

Knew that needed to execute the next shot which stepping up to whole 12 I was really debating between throwing my pink Emperor which is a little stable I can throw really high let it spike in or since I know I’d been throwing a little bit harder than I had kind of practiced

And anticipated I decided to disc down and go with my Roman but one of the things that have been happening all day is I would just leave everything low and inside so I wanted to make sure I gave it enough height which I was able to do

But I needed to correct two things not one and so I threw it way inside end up hitting the tree that is guarding the basket but it kicks me down about 18 ft from the basket I threw a good shot today wow and I was able to capitalize

So we got a turkey which I didn’t even realize until just now cuz again I wasn’t trying to think about scores I just knew that every single hole out here should be an easy birdie for me and definitely can be 16 gives me some trouble though but 17 in one I can eagle

And if I just keep on this pace throwing the next shot as well as I can I can still get to my 13 or 14 down which would be that 1020 plus to bump me over 990 rated going into March I was the only Birdie on this hole and so I ended

Up taking the box which isn’t a brag it’s actually just important cuz if you know where was in the Box before that sh but as we walked up to the next toll this is my first time experiencing everybody having to take score which I’m going to be honest I feel like I

Complain about a lot of things a lot when it comes to like this golf tournament stuff I really I’m not I might have my thoughts about it I might complain about it a little bit but at the end of the day maybe it’s because I’m so like in goal mode when I’m here

And every stroke is so important to me because of my goals in the sport but like I didn’t see a problem with that with everyone keeping score and I try to just focus on what I can do which complaining doesn’t help literally anything unless I’m like address

Pressing something with a TD which I actually did before this turn I was like hey are we still having this people are going to lose this this is going to be insane this is not fun and they’re like yep we’re still having it and at that

Point it’s like well I kind of wish she canceled it cuz that would give me an excuse and not have to come and do this but I have to do as best I can all I had to say we got here and I was ready to go

With my interval in hand but I had been kind of flipping that disc a little bit more than I expected and so I wanted to throw the interval and just kind of leave it out wide on some Hiser let it drift back to the basket but because

I’ve been flipping it a little too much and I was really thinking hey I got to put them close if my putts are being a little scary I decided to up to the emperor honestly because there’s a couple minutes of just trying to figure out scoring and up until this point I

Didn’t have to worry about being top of the box but I decided to take my Emperor out and I was going to leave it on a wide Hiser but I guess I didn’t trust the width of how far I need to throw it and I ended up throwing it and spiking

It into the hillside still pretty decent into the basket especially for basically a staly spiky Eiser left myself with a 20t downhill putt looks like I can actually still stand in my own paw prints here I stepped in and like sank down because this snow is way deeper got

A position that I thought would be good but this is the first time I really questioned should I just just go straddle and really get in line with the basket since I’m really missing left to right instead of high just focus on getting it up cuz I had cuz I hadn’t had

The problem of hitting the cage but instead I said no I can make this putt very similar to that a little bit worse putt a little bit lower less of that one you might argue as a chain out I still wouldn’t but very similar to that I missed left side so that brings

Us to the point where we need to get one of the two Eagles in my head and play Perfect here on out in order to get to my 1020 rating but I had also resolved to myself before this round that I have about three more Strokes past that since

It’s like 12 or 13 points per stroke which is ridiculous but I have three more Strokes I can play with if I miss that one and I don’t get every and I get everything else or maybe miss one more I’ll still shoot above my rating which I

Knew would be I think 11 under or better and at this point I’m only six but there are seven holes to go with a couple of them being eag Eagle opportunities and we step up to what honestly is pretty much a gim me par 4 down here it’s both

Cool and crazy to see how much changes cuz this was like the worst tead of the day and like it was all soshy during one of the like first steps that I had the first time I went to throw I actually slipped out my back foot and so I had to

Really be careful I threw my banza stamped white fow which had all the stuff on it and we had a spotter here so I felt very confident about it because it’s 550 ft par 4 should be the easiest birdie out here you just rip something basically try to get to those trees

Which are probably 480 or so and even with kind of poor footing I really guess I committed to my run up and my timing and I put this disc to a place that I had never put a disc to on this hole before my disc was right here at the

Base of this tree I could have kind of pitched through this Gap if I wanted to but my an heisers weren’t feeling super strong so I in said decided to use one of my one of the Chariots that I hadn’t used all day as kind of a knee pad and

Give myself a nice little forehand look at the basket I wasn’t really trying to run it I really just wanted to get a birdie but I honestly might have been a little undecided in my head because what ended up happening was a severe lack of touch that shot would have been a

Billion times better but instead I had those tournament juices flowing and ended up throwing it 32 ft past the basket it was chain high as it was sorn by the basket but just the lack of touch was astounding honestly at this point getting a little frustrated I know I can

Drop a few strokes and still have a solid round but I see that 1020 figure slipping away from me which again it’s not the end of the world I’ll still do my best to get into all these events it just would have made my life a little

Bit easier but I step up to this putt I believe I D it off the cage maybe I chain out left side I don’t know I hit some sort of metal cuz I hit metal on every single putt that I haven’t connected with and I’ve had a birdie pot

On every single hole missing one Circle two and making one to kind of make up for it really wish I did that and my heart starts racing a little bit I try to calm it down but we step up to this hole and I took my stable Chariot through a very mediocre shot

Relatively similar to that I’m losing steam in this video I more so got it just past that tree and that a 40f footer footer which I was feeling confident with in my step putut step up BL it off the cage so now we’re par par par on easy birdie holes all of them

With looks and it brings us into 16 which is the hole that I didn’t even give myself in this tournament I knew that I wanted to save one for that because the line is a little finicky and you have to get lucky through some trees or throw the most ridiculous like Spike

Heiser or grenade especially since there’s zero ground plate today but I knew that even with all of this if I get 16 I can Eagle 17 I can birdie 18 I can Eagle one and I can birdie two and that should put me at about a 10 12 1015

Rated round and because of all the snow that might actually bump it up to 1020 I’m going try to actually throw a good shot for you guys today my like legs are falling out from underneath so I’m really sorry about that that’s so much oh good tree let’s

Go whole 16 I think is a little bit better in a shorter position because here you have a lot of trees to get through and there’s kind of a window you have to have Grandpa to get to this basket or throw a big forehand or

Turnover over the top or what I tend to do is take my stable Emperor especially since I wasn’t really trusting that interval at this point and throw it way over the top try to just park it I had actually just spotted for my whole card since everyone else took a birdie

Besides my par in that last hole and I was very frustrated wanted to throw a good shot really focus up and out of my hand the shot was perfect it was going to be parked or go in it was just wide enough and unfortunately that one got through those trees but unless you

Really throw a crazy spiky angle or like a really big staly one you’re going to have to cont with them and I hit the tops of the trees frustratedly pick up my bag and this is where I started maybe last floor or two holes ago I started to show some pretty visible frustration

Slapping this on my bag and picking up my mini aggressively and didn’t say anything to my car and I try to be cordial obviously with them and hopeful but I don’t appreciate that side of myself when things are not going my way I got to find a better way to vent that

Frustration and to my carmates if that was frustrating or just poor sportsmanship I’m very sorry about that all but self-directed and I talked to them about it and they seem good and seem to understand but I want to put that out there that even self-directed aggression is not the best and there’s

Probably better ways to deal with it I have not found that yet but I’m hoping that I do the good news is as I kicked through these trees they did kick me slightly forward and so I had another 30-footer maybe a little farther than this which had really not been in my

Range today but I decided to instead of going back to my inline and trying to figure out the right arm slot to finish the pot forward I decided to go back to where I had much more positive muscle memory even if it was over a year ago

Maybe I just need to be a stradle guy the one in the tournament just sprinkled over the cage hitting the cage and the chains going in the basket getting myself a birdie and now I’m feeling good because if I go into 17 and eel it I don’t think I’ll have the momentum to

Catch stage cuz I think I was two or three back at this point but this brings me to seven down with four to play with two of them being Eagles we decided to put a spotter up there again on whole 17 which is kind of a tweener par 4 it’s

465 all the way up the hill so it plays very far there’s a little bit more of a head now than there was then it was like maybe 2 m an hour enough to be an excuse but not enough to actually do anything and I take my white pharaoh and because

I had flipped it so much on whole 14 going back this way and put it down by that tree I expected it to do the same thing not thinking that we’re going up a hill so I end up throwing that shot it ends up being a really good Rip but I

Expected it to continue drifting but I thw a really solid shot and put myself to 50 55 ft stepping up really trying to gain regain confidence in my straddle stepper I release it I think it’s perfect and it just ends up going perfectly straight in these popcorn have

So much Glide no drop that it just went straight over the cage and the chains and the basket every it went over everything perfectly in line I thought I had made it when it was in midair tapped in a birdie unfortunately and now I knew

That I had to had to had to get hole one ho 18 plays from the very top of this hill down to the basket that is right over here not super far I ended up throwing my zone on a forehand cuz I had actually been throwing decently solid

Forand leave it a little bit inside didn’t give it enough height cuz I didn’t want to flip it over cuz I thought I might roll my wrist but I Leave myself about 25 30 foot downhill putt which I can awesome stoked about that from a straddle Dan of course and

We move on to Hole one which I then find out is labeled as a par three so now I just need to worry about getting the birdie and getting to 13 down which my best at this point could be 11 if I birdie hold one and then birdie Hole 2

Which is a pretty straightforward 290t putter shot at this point too I’m starting to check scores and I’m right in line with one of my buddies Jordan who if you guys have watched my first M win video I battled out with him until the end this is the layout of whole one

From the green it’s about 485 or something up to the very top there I really was just throwing my Pharaoh on a pretty deeper letting it flip up to flat and finishing I’d taken the Box on that hole and I took my white Pharaoh which

Did have a lot more of kind of the red paint on it which I now think is kind of BS and threw it what meant to be out wide and on a pretty penetrating heer I actually ended up hitting my chest on the way through slightly and ended up

Souping a little more luckily the disc was flippy enough to get basically up to flat and I threw it with enough power and we saw come down right around these trees everyone else throws we watch all their discs I help everybody find their discs and we get down to Sage has just

Put his about 30 ft from the basket right over there and we’re trying to find mine we look and we look I set a timer for 3 minutes and unfortunately we’re unable to find the disc uh this disc so you know I got it back cool and

Sad at the same time but my timer went off cuz I had the timer and took my interval up top ran all the way back up there Jordan and his card are waiting there’s a couple cards waiting cuz had to wait cuz we were looking for this for

3 minutes end up ripping the interval don’t leave it wide enough again I was like almost out of breath I just didn’t want to have to wait anymore I just wanted to throw it cuz I knew that best case scenario I’m taking a four that’s going to bring me back down to eight

Underpar then maybe I can birdy that one and get to nine which I know is not going to be above my rating I know 10 down is the worst I can do to be above my rating and of course I still want to play well but the emotions are so high

Cuz as you get to those last minutes you’re frantically searching for this disc knowing that the tournament for basically what feels like no fault of your own and something that I knew was a possibility of happening going into this tournament but still entered and still brought this disc because I lost another

Pharaoh practicing which is on a green of a hole which I still can’t find which I’m going to come out here once this all melts and fine but end up throwing it right into this tree hits the tree almost goes into my bag which would have actually been another stroke cuz I

Didn’t even think about that to be honest straddle out actually a little bit further behind it give a nice little Annie bid no way well I put M chain high right skip past tap in my five and we move on to Hole two the really sad part is as

Everyone was watching and spotting for my disc there are people standing right here watching the disc come in and after the round which finishes on hole two I take a five so I’m back to 7 under par which I know means that I have to Birdie

The last hole in order to cash I missed cash my first tournament of last year in no 33 open I didn’t want to do that again and it feels like I shouldn’t but everyone plays by the same rules and I threw a disc that got lost I just wish

That I was watching it a little bit closer and that everyone was watching it a little closer because what ended up happening is the disc after that hole which we’ll get to in a second after the tournament’s over shout out Randy go right here 40 feet if I’m making that Putt and

I have good momentum from all this there’s a good chance I make this it’s a three-stroke swing worst case scenario too and so I should be at nine down going into that hole knowing that I can birdie to get to 10 down which would be 90ish rated which is a little better

Than my rating that’s the first airball Putt and I know that I’ve had a birdie putt on every single hole that I’ve missed hitting metal if I have not birdied it it honestly just felt a little extra punishing I was so disappointed we get up to this heads

Down everyone takes scores I greet everyone like hey good round good round and then kind of go into my own little shell again go the craziest shot ever on this hole to be honest with you I’m going to try to recreate it and it’s absolutely not going to happen and if it

Does you owe me $5 so I step up with my electron firm Envy popcorn flying off top of the bag apparently knowing that I have to birdie but frankly I just I did not care this is the gap I’m going for I can’t even hit it from here but somehow

In the tournament I shake my shot okay right there that’s the Gap I step up thinking I need to throw it straight but very similar to like what is happening right now I had the brunt of all that emotional adrenaline fueled I don’t even know what hormones

Are going through my body but all that the brunt of that was happening and then just kind of not giving up when all those emotions are running through you I genuinely don’t know if there’s anybody who can like dial it back and like really throw consistently good shots and

So somehow I hit that Gap and it puts me to 30 ft and if we do like I said you only me five bucks I’m going to go home and cry not actually that was a joke I’m fine is let me throw a good [Applause]

Shot so I put it to 30 ft step up to the Putt and I haven’t airball anything all day I don’t even feel like I have crazy control of my limbs at this point which is so crazy cuz this isn’t even that serious it’s a c tier and it is serious

To me cuz I mean this round meant a lot it would have given me a very good chance of getting into some of these tournaments my first round of the Year back I frankly didn’t even feel prepared for it but I knew that I had to give it

A chance like I said worst case thing I bruis my ego and like that’s worse taking the chance bruis my ego I did cuz I step up to this pot I’m lining it up knowing I need to make it to get to 8 down not going to be a good round but it

Will make last cash and I have cash at literally everything all my last 10 events since 303 open freaking Pro Tour silver event I do that I literally do that this Envy is so parked it’s not even funny dude I did learn a lot in this round I

Learned that even in my first round back in bad conditions I am still good at throwing the disc sucks that I couldn’t find that I realize I never ever ever want to play a tournament in this stuff again and I need to do everything in my

Power to make sure that I don’t have to force myself to do something like this I also am grateful that especially after talking with some of you guys who I was able to meet here and just my buddies Jordan sage and Kola one round isn’t the

Definition of who you are as a disc golfer especially when something like this that seems so out of your control happens and frankly it was partially in my control maybe I get a different F maybe I get a different disc maybe I watch my disc better like I take full

Responsibility for everything that happened today they also me to realize that if I can just figure out my Putt and get back to 2022 or better cuz I was making a lot of circle to putts I had multiple c1x 100% round that I know I

Can get to my 1010 1015 that I really want to be clocking and I tied seventh out of 13 people one stroke off of tied fourth which would have been last cash Sage shot 1028 at 13 down so I was right on the number that I needed to shoot uh

And I just did not execute it I shot 953 I just got to get the Reps in putting and that is something that is very doable this is just one round a big mental learning experience and a part of me didn’t want to put this video out

Because of the goals that I’ve shared but rounds like this happen and they happen for pros not nearly as hten as apparently is happening to me cuz I’m one for one this year it sucks it really sucks so I feel like I shot about a 990

Rated round and I feel like I threw the disc about 1040 so it really just comes down to the putt thank you guys for watching more positive news to come I’m grateful that I don’t have to do something like this again but I am glad that I did it Sage

Tanner is there anything you have to say to the people um no man just uh had a good day out there it was fun and uh somebody sponsored me

  1. My game has felt in the same kind of place. I shot a 826 round two weekends ago in a flex and bounced back with a 952 last weekend. Putting was the biggest difference between the 2.

  2. Something to think about for putting: you want a stroke that is repeatable when you are tense and stressed. Not one that is beautiful and smooth in practice and gets nervy in the big moments.
What was your form back when you were putting well?

  3. Threw my first tournament last fall at my home course with a few extended holes on a 26 hole layout knowing i should be hovering around 8-9 under each round. I finished bith rounds only shot 4 down. It was bittersweet. But a whole lot of learning happened. Youve got this Anthony. Its been a blast watching your game grow.

  4. As a person with ADHD, when you play and aren’t playing the way you know you can play during tournament, it’s hard to not let the frustration on yourself show, I found personally listening to music helps me get out of my own head and get back into the zone when it happens to me

  5. Trying not to let the score in your head on hole 3… But… That’s a lie… It was in your head before you ever tee’d off.

  6. Thank you for sharing bro!! The straddle and the big exhale you used to do might help, This is a marathon bro,,, 1 mike of the 26, you got this!!

  7. I got food poisoning my first c tier and decided to play through it (momma did not raise a quitter) to a rating of 591 for the first round and 735 for the second round after chugging water and pounding oyster crackers in my car. I'm definitely pretty new still but that one shook me bad for a long time

  8. Im sure you have put more pressure on yourself more than ever based on whats happened the last couple months. Once you put together a couple good tournament rounds back to back you will get back on track.

  9. you did great keep going and keep practicing you've inspired me to get better at disc golf and you've helped me keep up the amazing work

  10. i just want to say thank you for the content. i also want to say with the chain out situation. my brain says a chain out can be anything that hits chains and is out of the basket, but a spit out is a good put that should have been in the basket and the basket says nope. just my opinion/rant lol

  11. This is cool, I'm a Denverite and I've played Bird's Nest and a lot of the courses I've seen on your channel. I started slinging in 2020 but last year really got away from the sport, I'm trying to rededicate myself to it this year with the goal of doing some actual (casual) local tournaments! Looking forward to following you on your journey!

  12. Honestly dude, not a big deal, nobody plays good in the snow, don’t whine about it you just gotta go back to work and hit the grind stone, hard work always pays off

  13. I applaud the humility it took to post this and bring us through it. It's not great to hear but comforting to have that reassurance that " the yips" or mental game effects everyone at every stage sometimes. I would say lessons come in weird forms but you already seem to understand that. Good on you man ! Can't wait for the next one!

  14. Keep pushing bro! You got this. I played first tournament in my life… EVER… this weekend and when we showed up it was sprinkling. By the time we got out of our car and stopped at the merch booth to get another card member rained picked up and it was thundering. 5 minutes later hail was failing, rain was blowing sideways and we started a rain/lightening delay. That lasted about an hour and we saw a gap in the storm where we thought we could play through and get through course on a rushed style of playing. After all I drove 3 hours to Austin for the tournament so I was trying to get in what I could. Also, it’s just a C tier flex start… anyways we pick another player and start our round. Things ain’t too bad… I have the best drive out of our card but the rain picks up. We make it through a very sketchy hole 6 with heavy rain and thundering and decided to go back. Sure enough we’re on another lightening delay. This one’s lasts all of 30 minutes and we still have time to salvage! So we hit it back with about 40 minutes before the HEAVY stuff comes (according to the radar). I’m cold, wet, not a dry towel or piece of clothing in my possession. We’re throwing in ankle deep water at some points and I don’t know any better but I’m pretty sure we could’ve take relief. Anyhow I shoot the worse card of my entire mature career, 14 strokes over my last practice round and guess what… when our round is over the clouds are clearing up and everyone else starts showing up to play. Well my baby is due in about a month and I don’t think I’ll even get in another tournament before then so I can’t even redeem myself for probably another three months at best. Yaaaaaaaaay 😑

  15. I want this “nerdy rating calculator sheet”. Ratings confuse me and that could help. Please

  16. Sounds like you lost your mojo as soon as you saw the snow. That was when you lost the tournament. Throwing a putter that you weren't totally familier with in less than ideal conditions was also an obstacle.

You WILL get there, my man. Just not today. Your battles today were mainly between your ears. You CAN overcome this.

  17. bruh, you said you just noticed you got a turkey? That's cap. I know you checked your score at the end of the round and saw it.

  18. I had a similar bad first round experience this year. I decided to play a one round tournament in bad conditions anyway (mud, not snow) and surprisingly started great through 7 holes, but then proceeded to bogey my tournament away on holes 8, 9 and 10. I enjoyed playing with my card mates but my round rating was so much lower than my normal rating that despite mentally knowing I made a good decision to play it just still felt horrible. I lived and am looking forward to my next opportunity. I don't think I ever could have done a post tournament video about it, though. Thanks for sharing. It helped me.

  19. Sounds like u put a lot of pressure on yourself. I, as a follower, am in no way disappointed in u, and I would guess that goes for a lot of us. It's one tournament and it seems pretty realistic you would need to do a lot of tournament to be able to handle that pressure consistently – for instance with regards to the putt. Great grind, m8, looking forward to more!

  20. Sometimes this really is like listening to machine gun talking… 😅 all good tho.

  21. If it was easy, everyone would just go and play in pro games. I get the urge to get there fast, and you will ( !!! ), but it's still hard and takes its time! Liked this video a lot 🙂

  22. It's interesting to hear your perspective on this. 99% of disc golfers aren't in a position to have their paramount goal to be garnering a specific RATING from the event to better their chances for registration in the future. Definitely a level of pressure a lot of us can't relate to. Most of us are in MA2 or so just trying to get in cash and have fun. I can't imagine the pressure on ONE round to shape the rest of the year.

A lot easier in hindsight to say that once your goal was mostly out of reach to adjust your game plan into damage control to maintain a good score rather than the reckless play to try to get extra (difficult) birdies At this point you're going to have a bigger hole to climb out of to get to 990, which I think we all believe you can do.

As you said, great learning experience. That same pressure is going to feel lighter next time. Also GREATLY highlights the difference between internal and external pressure. As a neurodivergent man myself, I CRUMBLE under internal pressure and LIVE for high external pressure moments.

Tour Card Bodanza is coming in 2024 baby. You've got this.

  23. Don't worry about the round… would rather see you play so-so than not play at all. Makes us scratch players realize that everyone's human and a bad round happens to the best of us. I have a few comments to add: 1) embrace the snow – everyone's in the same boat, so just be aware that scoring is harder – just do your best. 2) use pink or yellow discs in the snow if you're not using ribbons (I live in eastern Canada… trust me on this one!). You're playing with fire if using white discs in the snow. 3) You keep saying you want to get your putting back to where it previous was… you should commit to straddle putting again (and use forward stance for super long putts). As I've mentioned a few times now, you're straddle putting is 2nd to none. 4) stay positive even when things seem doomed. Fake it til you make it! It's not easy to do but just keep telling yourself "I got this, next hole, next hole. I got this". Eventually you'll turn it around and if nothing else, you won't feel so shitty while playing poorly. 🙂

  24. You're hardworking and I applaud your focus! I also understand why you approached this tournament this way (to get to 990). But this kind of goal-oriented disc golfing is exactly the opposite of how I've been taught to approach each throw, hole, and tournament. Again, I get why you felt like you needed to play it this way but it sounds super stressful, honestly, and maybe that affected your mental game? Anyway, good luck with the rest of the season and looking forward to each new video!

  25. Anthony, you will not be disappointed if you eventually decide to putt with the Birdie Marvel! It is spectacular!

  26. Bodanza, I personally have found a lot of improvement in my game by changing my mindset. Before the final round of a tournament I think what do I need to shoot to win/what do I need to shoot to shoot a certain rating. Then once the round starts I take it shot by shot. I step up to the shot and say let’s throw a good shot. If I throw a good one, great. If I throw a bad one so what. No matter what the outcome of the shot is I move onto the next. I think this will help you a lot! I love watching your journey to get on the to pro tour! I too want to try and make it on the tour so hopefully you and I will see each other out there!

Also, just watched like 5 more minutes into your video and you literally said exactly what I commented.😂

  27. Why do people stress about the par? This number changes nothing about how people play the hole, or how the hole aids in score separation. It is the strangest topic of debate in disc golf. The only thing it changes is an arbitrary number. Stop it.

  28. Hey could you share the spreadsheet for pdga ratings?! Doing it by hand is a pain and im never really sure if it's accurate.

  29. I know you're already working on a few videos after this one, but I have to say, I've had the same experience the last year. I spent a lot of time working on my backhand form – and my putting has suffered. I just don't have the energy to fix my backhand form and then practice putting.

  30. I know you feel pressure to make particular types of content, but whatever you need for your game, just do it, I'll watch a 3-hour stream of putting practice filmed on a flip phone
