The 2024 Tailor Made tp5 series let’s see what Scotty sheffer’s new ball is all About hey guys welcome back to the channel I am Garrett and today we’re getting into the new Tailor Made tp5 series golf ball so what’s the big deal with the tailor made ball it is the only five layer Tour ball on the market right now and what’s interesting about a five
Layer ball it allows for different levels of compression through the bag so for example putter will compress the outer layer wedges will compress about two layers in irons are about three and four layers and Driver you get all five layers of compression so that allows you to have varying spin rates for varying
Levels of said compression now going into the brand new tailor made ball and what’s different for this year’s ball is that they have softened the core with a polymer foam instead of using a traditional rubber like most manufacturers that allows the outer layers to be even firmer which helps you
Maintain that soft feel but also low launch low spin characteristics you’re not going to notice a whole lot of difference between the tp5 from last year other than it being a little bit softer and hotter but you are going to notice a substantial difference between last year’s tp5x and this year’s tp5x so
The Taylor Made tour Pros really liked the 2023 tp5x but Scotty Sheffer and the boys got with a team at Taylor May and said hey we like that ball but we want a ball that flies just a little bit lower so Taylor Made made this ball a little
Firmer a little lower spinning and change the Dipple pattern on it to where it really penetrates in flight so we want to test the 2023 and the 2024 and see if there really is a difference so let’s hop in the lab we’re going to swing five with each with a 50 yard shot
Five each with a seven iron and five each with a driver and we’re going to look at the data and see if there is a difference or not okay I’ve got a 50 yard shot going to give five Swings with each ball and we’re going to see what the difference
Is now I got a s iron from 180 tailor made qi1 LS we’re going to test both balls same thing five of each okay all the swings are done so let’s get into the data now I did drop one from each category so that way we
Have the best four with all of the swings here so starting with the 50 yard shot the 2023 ball you get a 52.8 ball speed almost 30° launch angle 7200 spin rate with a 50 yard carry this is very interesting going back down to the 2024
Ball you’re going to see that the ball speed dropped by 1 mph launch was actually up by a couple degrees and spin rate actually did drop by 900 RPMs CU I still average the same yardage at 50 yards so going into now the 7even iron numbers I typically hit my 7 iron about
180 182 is on the fly so really want to see how this ball impacts that the 2023 ball have a ball speed of 1222 launched just below 20 spin rate at 5500 and a carry at 178 that’s that’s not bad for me um what’s really interesting going to the 2024 ball my
Ball speed skyrocketed at 127 launch actually lowered a little bit at 19 and carry went up a substantial eight yards to 186 so yeah this ball is hot and it does exactly what Taylor Made is claiming it does but does it correlate with driver the 2023 ball I averaged 166
Ball speed 17 launch 2500 rpm so that ball speed is about typical for me that’s pretty much where I live with driver launch is a touch High uh spin rate’s a touch high but it could just be the driver that I was swinging I average 291 carry 311 overall I would say that’s
That’s that’s pretty much on par with what my average is now the 20124 ball very interesting launch was pretty much the same spin rate was up 400 RPMs but if you notice I tend to had a little bit more of a rightward tail with the 24
Balls I’m going to blame that on mean not the ball but even though the spin was up more the ball speed jumped up 5 mph carry jumped up two yards with the same 311 total so in conclusion this ball does exactly what Taylor mate says it does now after testing this I am
Seriously considering putting this in the bag and I would recommend you consider putting in your bag as well it’s a hot ball but I would make sure test between a tp5x and tp5 if you want more spin go with the five less spin go with the X version but this is a great
