There’s a very good reason why I didn’t think Wilson was going to send these golf clubs so let me explain a bit of a backstory Behind These clubs actually being sent and why your golf bag might benefit from the information I’m about to share on these particular clubs

That’s as long as what’s actually in here is what I think it is because I haven’t actually opened them yet if you’re new here I talk a lot about secondhand golf equipment and the Great Value behind them so you can imagine my surprise when I got an email from Wilson

Just before Christmas asking if I’d be interested in clubs being sent to me in my spec however I’ll show you my very honest reply that I send to everyone that messaged me about giving me clubs to review and typically with that reply why don’t hear anything back and I

Completely understand as if I was selling brand new golf equipment I wouldn’t send me anything either but fair play to Wilson as obviously they’re not afraid of what I’m about to say I’ve just noticed you guys are going to see the very lovely stickers that my

Daughter put on my laptop the other week so this is the email that I received back in November and to be honest when I first read it I thought it was a mistake I thought someone had accidentally put my email into the social media mailing list especially when they asked if I was

Planning to attend their media day which sadly I couldn’t make but I’m definitely up for making them in the future and here is my reply the honest reply that I send anyone that wants me to review their equipment because I always want to compare it to secondhand clubs I kind of

Want to give you guys the choice I’m not against Club fits I actually recommend brand new equipment as long as you try it you love it you play once a week you’re playing for quite a few years now it’s good value for money if they’re

Going to stay in the bag and in the email I even said I’m a big fan of their equipment secondhand that Wilsons are always especially the irons are always in my top three list when it comes to underrated Brands they’re great clubs they look good they feel good and not

Many people consider them in the secondhand Market but as I said obviously if they’re still happy with that new clubs come at a cost and potentially the reviews will be against older models and that’s exactly what we’re going to be looking at with these clubs here and then I sent my specs over

My iron speed driver speed angle attack as they asked for so I’ll be interested to see what’s in the box but considering I sent that back in November I didn’t really hear anything back and to be honest I wasn’t that surprised especially when there was another

Generic email sent out going by now you should have received all the samples and I’m sitting there in January going I haven’t received anything email address definitely was added by mistake so I’m going to try and find the driver first because I have actually done a full

Review on the dino power driver I got it from replay was talked a lot about social media and I wanted to see what it was going for second hand and I have got a dino power driver in the Box it’s actually another iron in the box there

As well which I haven’t had a look at so we’re going to have a look and they obviously know that I miss it out to the right as they just sent me a stiff Flex not X stiff I won’t hit this one now as I said I’ve done a full review on this

Drive and my thoughts behind find it but again it’s a great looking driver just as I said in that review I’ve just quickly had a look online £200 230 for the carbon version and to be honest that’s not that bad considering this retails at £399 almost performs better

Secondhand wise than the Cobra Aero jet at the moment which is always indication to me people are buying it and keeping it in their golf bag it’s all well and good people reviewing it like me or manufacturers saying this is the next best thing but when I see stuff hold

Their price better than most that probably means the average golfer bought it got fitted for it and is sticking with it meaning the supply is low and somewhat the demand is quite high right let’s get into something that I definitely haven’t hit before demo Club not for resale damn it Dino Power Wilson

Staff iron this without a doubt in the future will be an absolute goto in terms of great value for money however looking online at the prices at the moment brand new five to pitching wge 579 I’ve seen it listed I think that was with American

Gulf meaning you can go and try and test it I mean that’s close to the director consumer Brands where you’re buying a set of irons for $499 or 549 look it’s a good job they didn’t give me X stiff and everything otherwise that would have been even further to the

Right just a cheeky 209 yd 7 IR o get on the line sit on it sit on on it now I’ll show you listings for the d99 for two reasons number one if you bought these brand new what would you actually be able to sell them for

Secondhand and looking at the prices 250 to around £300 maybe in great condition £310 they’re more expensive ones are the fourth ones which I imagine I’m going to be opening up in a minute alternatively if you like the look of the dino power or you want to try Wilson clubs but you

Only have £ 250300 to spend and the D9 came out a year a year and a half ago and to be perfectly honest it’s just as good quality and feeling sounding as this one so for £300 heavily underrated right one box out the way let’s be having yet let’s just hope there’s not

Any more demo not for sale stickers oh just one club in here what have we got here one heavily underrated aspect of golf equipment is the grips that actually come on them I quite like this Z grip obviously with the dino PS just come with a standard Lambkin but this

One here is come with a z grip and if you are spending a decent amount of money it’s nice to have grips that just come decent and standard so you don’t necessarily have an upcharge anyway that’s a nice looking Club isn’t it staff model Wilson head it’s a bit of me

That however these are definitely a step up in price when it comes to Wilson irons from what I’ve seen 900 five to pitch in wedge for the player that’s probably going to be buying these as well you’d probably want four to pitch Ed as that person has a club Ed speed

Not NE necessarily always but that’s typically a full set that person’s going to be swinging at 85 90 M an hour want a bit of forgiveness but not necessarily jacked up lofs and just as I expected great feeling iron head and it’s never going

To go as far as the dino power as you can see there obviously almost like 30 yard shorter a lot more spin though which means more consistency decent launch angle potentially a bit high for me however and I didn’t quite catch it meaning that I did get punished but overall you still

Got a decent amount of forgiveness there and obviously that would be around the green now this is the CB version but hasn’t got CB stamped on it the older versions have the CB stamp on it and they go for around £300 £400 but this one especially anything upwards of £800

Please go and get Club fitted and at least been playing this game for four five years not necessarily handicapped wise but if you got a fast Club head speed you love the game you know this set is going to be used for the next four years then I can see it being a

Worthwhile investment right last box then let’s see what we’ve got in it ah something that I definitely haven’t here oh light it feels light even with this shaft in it what we saying can’t have got surely that can’t be right I’m going to have to do that again 120 mph with a fairway

Wood I know I’m getting fast 250 carry 120 again acceptable 266 yards now obviously I haven’t price checked any of this until now cuz obviously I didn’t know what was in the boxes but I’m in two minds with this £200 for a fairway wood especially is the Loft and shaft

Combinations like the biggest ingredient but I’m surprised the secondhand price of this still £140 £ 150 some of them go for £100 and it obviously retails at 99 I have to say however and I think that’s what a lot of people got this year with the dino PS Wilson kind of stepped their

Game up it’s not better than anything else out there on the market but it’s as good as a lot of stuff out there on the market and it is somewhat cheaper bearing in mind other Fairway Woods are £300 but unlike these where Wilson have been making great irons for quite a long

Time meaning that you could have get the 2021 CB sta irons for £300 and I think you’re going to be getting just as good club as I’ve got in my hand here feel we’re seeing a different generation of Wilson clubs going forward where potentially these are going to be more

Sought after in the secondhand market and as soon as this comes down to1 and the driver comes down to £180 it’s kind of going to be my recommendation for a lot of golfers just starting this game all right come on then last one what have we got here here

Oh I see I didn’t even know this even existed and I appreciate they’re trying to merge them all into one so you can have combo sets at the top two here or you could have pitch and wedge 98 in these and then 765 in that but I think

They could have just done a better job blending them I think this is just either too insignificant like they should have been like all black and then forged or just WIP the diner power out Al together these two for me make sense that not so much I hear what you say

Stop being a little this is why I stopped doing brand new Club reviews I don’t know how the boys do it how do you find different things to say about this equipment all the equipment’s good the lofs are set for that particular gol for their offset for the high handicappers

Their blades for the good ones we figured out how to make goodlooking feeling equipment and to be fair Wilson has made just that catch you guys later

  1. Wilson D7 forged……thought I wanted a better “players distance” iron

Looked at the market here in Canada and the prices are 🥜

So with Si’s personal advice (yes, he actually DOES answer emails like he says)…….

    Was…
    7 iron, 30-1/2° loft, 145 yards, 42° land angle, 5,200 spin 👎

    Now

    Ball change +
    7 iron, 32° loft, 1/2” longer, 148 yards, 44° land angle, 6,100 backspin

Did lengthening and grip change myself
    Total cost $50.🎉🎉🎉

  2. Great video. I replaced every club in my bag over winter with the exception of my 3 wood (which was new to me last summer). Every club is used and I got for a great price. I don’t see how purchasing new is beneficial when you have clubs within the last few years at a fraction of the cost. I have an entirely new (to me) bag for about $1300 CAD. New I have paid more than that just for my irons! 😂 the entire bag is as follows
    D – 2021 M4 10.5 Ventus red stiff shaft
    3 – m6
    5 – m6
4 hybrid – PXG 0211 hzrds smoke shaft
    5-PW – PXG 0211 xcor2 xtreme black
    52, 56, 60 – Titleist Vokeys
P – odyssey stroke lab exo 2 ball

  3. I have a weird affinity to Wilson Staff. I like how they go under the radar and don’t spend millions of dollars to convince us that this year’s model is 1278% more forgiving than last years, and 10% further.

I’ve had two sets of Wilson Staff irons and I’m seriously considering picking up the Dynapower driver.

I currently play FG Tour V5 irons, lovely irons.

  4. I think that it’s really awesome of Wilson to still want you to review the clubs knowing you will most likely tell people to go second hand. I went second hand with the Wilson D9 Forged after your mid handicap iron video talking about the D7 Forged. I was looking for the D7’s and found a used but in mint condition set of the D9’s for same price as the used D7’s. They are some pretty awesome clubs.

  5. Just got the Wilson Utility iron stiff shaft 18 degrees, changed my game, 200-220 yards, feels and sounds great, does exactly what it says on the tin.

  6. D9 Forged irons… really good value from them too… and I got my first hole_in_one last season with i7 (and that was my second season playing)…

  7. I cant speak for the woods, but wilson irons are hard to beat. I still play the v6 irons & love them.

  8. Don't her Dynapowr in South Africa, if you not keen on that driver, I'd give it a happy home 😊

  9. Always been a Wilson fan–had many of their clubs–and they play like any of the best out there. Wilson are very poor at marketing and catering to their fans though. Happy that they sent you some clubs to try out. As a regular player, try writing them a thank you note; they have no personal skills–whoever is dealing their customer contact haven't a clue. Sad, for such an historic golfing brand not to really get it in this age of so many direct marketers. That said, I'll most likely try out the new, and then find an older Wilson set somewhere in the future for less. The clubs have longevity and just plain work. Are you listening Wilson? Cheers!

  10. Wilson irons have been on the short list of irons I want to try for my next set. My first and only set I play Ping Eye 2 irons now and love them, however a little more distance would be nice. I’m a new golfer so still learning

  11. Great review, love wilson staff irons. Use to play their blades back in the day. Love them. Looking to get a set of cb's soon. They look sooo nice

  12. Kudos to Wilson for sending their stuff to someone who’s made a name from honesty. I too have played D7 forged the past two years. Would love to try the newer iterations but don’t expect game changing differences yet.

  13. I bought a set of the D7 forged last year, very easy to hit but didn't like getting the odd flyer.
So I have just recently bought the previous Staff Model CB 4-pw, brand new £404.
I really should have bought these from the beginning, they are great.
I already had the wedges which are superb.

  14. I have a 8813 putter, FG Tour V6, D9 irons and D9 forged plus D9 hybrid, Staff model balls. Mainly secondhand 👍🏻great looking clubs. People who buy Wilson are always very happy with their purchases

  15. I have full wilson bag, Dynapower carbon driver, 3 wood, 7 wood, Dynapower irons 5-G, and Wedges 52, 56 and 60 and BL22 putter and I love them all.

  16. I totally agree. Now a days no one is head and shoulders above anyone else. I exchanged my Titleist AP2 718 irons for Maltby TS1 IM’s my Ping G440 hybrids for Wilson kept my Titleist 3 metal and I have 4 different manufacturers drivers and Volkey Wedges. The happiest I’ve ever been with my current set of clubs. Over 50 years.

  17. 27 degrees in a 7-iron?! I’ll stick with my 34 degree thank you. I would have a lot of trouble properly gapping around that stronger club.

  18. I have been playing my Di7s for at least a decade or more. I had to take some time off for cancer and thought I'd be better off with something for old people with whippy shafts seeing I couldn't swing hard anymore. I was wrong, 3 sets later and I'm back to my 7s. Best clubs I've ever owned and I've played and owned most every brand.
