Normally you only take the grip off a golfclub when its at the end of its life.
But if you like to tinker with different kinds and maybe sizes of grips, then you might not want to cut a grip off, but save it and use it on another club.

Hi everyone Roy the golf club coach here and today I’m going to show you how to save a grip if you have a grip installed on a shaft but you would like to reuse that grip because it’s still new then you would like to take it off without

Damaging it and that’s what we call grip saving and I’m going to do that to this dry Tac grip that is on my Ventus please support the channel by leaving a like And subscribe to the channel to see more Club fitting content so we’re we going

To use some grip solvent we don’t need to use much but we do need to loosen up that adhesive from under the grip and we need some sort of tool to get between the grip and the shaft now when I started out messing around with grips I

Made one from an iron coat hanger um which is fine to use for the first time that you’re trying to save a grip but really do yourself a favor and buy one of these any golf component web shop will sell one of these grip Savers and

This makes the job so much easier if you want to catch your excess solvent then you could put the grip in a bucket or a pan once again but you could also just get a piece of paper and we fold that up into a nice little square and we use that to catch

Our solvent now I’m going to put my grip on here and take my grip saving tool and I’ll try to insert this grip saving tool at the tip of the grip this is always the most tricky part now this is not a grip that is easy to take off this

Wind grip construction but I think it’s going to work now if we pour in a little bit of solvent at the top now with the solvent in the top to we can spin the shaft around and make sure we turn that grip saver inside inside that grip luck I was

Scared that was a little bit of damage but it’s not now every once in a while you have to go on and squirt another couple of drops of solvent into the grip as you work down I’m slightly pushing down on the grip saver while turning this grip so already becoming easier CU

I can feel the solvent working its way down and at one point you’re going to feel like you have to push too hard on that grip saver tool so that is the time you just go ahead and add a little bit of solvent Norm normally it takes about 3

To four squirts of grip solvent to get your tool all the way down there I think I’m almost entirely at the bottom squeeze it the other Way now this is a bit of a messy job let’s see if I can already turn this shaft off no I have to work it in a little bit more there we go that should be enough now I can even just remove my grip tool can see some

Tape coming with it and I can slide this grip off actually if you’re if you’re careful you can save a wind grip looks perfectly fine it does have some some tape residue in it and we’re going to take that out but the grip um the shaft

Looks looks fine actually I took off all the tape that’s still in here and a little bit on my grip tool you can see my buildup tape right here well we’ll remove that in a little bit let me see oh yeah here is a little scraper that I use

To get rid of all that tape that’s still in the grip it’s best to do it now now it’s still soaked because you don’t want to leave all that tape to dry up inside that inside that grip now here’s the messy part just whip it out yeah sure

Okay we saved this grip and it’s fine to reuse now all we got to do is take off this old tape actually you know what for the next grip I’m probably going to build up the size of the grip again and all of this buildup tape looks to be

Intact so I’m actually going to save that but I do want to get all the glue residue off of there and now my ventis is ready to be regripped and used in my driver again and if you want to see how to put on a grip then check out this video this is

The coach signing off I’ll see you in the next next one
