Okay guys today we have a video that a lot of people at one time or another in the golfing world have asked themselves the golfing ball well it has to do with the golfing ball mhm which ball should you play do you need a ball that’s

Really soft do you need a ball that’s really hard do you need a ball that promotes a ton of spin there’s a lot of questions that that are asked yeah so we have the brand new two star tour we’re hitting the divides today cuz we’re going to review them but this brings to

Light a one of the biggest biggest mistakes people make When selecting their golf ball and we’re going to tell you the big mistake that you’re making and how you can fix it and how you can add yards just by getting into the right type of golf ball yeah let’s Go okay guys don’t forget if you’re in Denver Colorado we have the divides in stock here we also have shelves full of golf balls if if you want the shrick on diamonds if you want Bridgestone if you want tailor made we have them on the

Shelf so come by see us pick up some balls or anything else that you want shoot us an email here below or call and text us if you have questions up here if you need something in the golf realm give us a shot at it we really

Appreciate it helps us out a ton if you can support the channel or if you’re not in the market to actually buy anything right now hit that like And subscribe button because these videos are helping us out a ton helping us a ton oh yeah nicely said thanks I

Forgot what I was going to say so here’s the thing let’s get to the biggest mistake that people make when shopping for a golf ball let me just grab something quick all right here’s the mistake the giant mistake people make they make two different mistakes When

Selecting a golf ball and we’re going to actually hit them to see if this Theory proves true okay your average golfer swing speed is under for the not everybody but the average golfer swing speed is under 995 mph for driver for a driver okay now what happens is is a lot

Of golfers they go in to PGA Superstore Golf Galaxy their local Pro Shop and they give me a sleeve of what’s the number one thing they want to sleeve of the number one ball in golf title is pro1 let me see it so this is a tour

Golf ball okay now when we say a tour golf ball this is meant for tour swing speeds it’s very hard and it’s meant for guys that swing over 105 milph y all right now or they’re not buying it they’re still going in dropping $55 on the bridgeston $55 on

The Prov v1s or $50 on your strion Z stars all of these are tour balls fantastic balls but they are made for tour level speeds so you’re losing yardage because these balls are too hard for you all right mhm that’s the mistake now we’re going to see if that actually

Is a myth or if it proves truth today today so you could call us kind of like MythBusters today we’re MythBusters or MythBusters mistake number two is they will go too cheap the Walmart Nitros well no no but these are like 19 19 bucks the Munos now these are good

Too but here’s the problem with too cheap of a golf ball and too expensive of a golf ball is what’s the problem what’s the difference when you go this cheap what do you what are you sacrificing your your shell the actual layer of the golf ball is different even

Though the golf ball may be soft like you need it the actual shell of the golf ball is a much cheaper material yeah it’s made of something completely different than the tour balls than the tour balls you lose spin around the greens and also they’re not as durable

So they’re going to you know scratch up and Flake easy now if you’re just a weekend warrior and you’re bombing through balls then who cares but if you’re trying to actually improve your golf game and you want good feel off the putter you’re you’re not going to get

That with the shell that’s on a $15 $20 package of balls and I wasn’t comparing those mauno golf balls to the Nitro Trevor just said you buy too cheap a ball the Nitro is the cheapest ball I can think of okay Muno is not going to

Get mad they might okay so here’s what’s cool is there’s not that many balls on the market I think Taylor Made has the tour response and then Srixon has the qar tour divide yeah now this is where it’s the perfect marriage and this is what we’re going to talk about tell me

Why this the perfect bage because it’s a soft ball that is really what majority of consumers need to be hitting uhhuh and it’s more affordable than a tour ball so you’re going to save $10 $15 a dozen okay but what’s different about this it has the shell or the cover a

Urethane cover which is right behind you got one open yeah it’s in our pyramid so it has the same shell in the same cover as a tour ball so it has a more expensive shell on it so you’re going to get that good green side spin you’re going to get that durability but

It’s a softer compressing golf ball which means it’s actually going to help you out on the golf course now let me explain let’s talk about the technology and why that helps you around the golf course then we’re going to hit them and see if this is actually true okay so

What are we looking at here Trev tell us a little bit about this all right so we’re going to talk about the trampoline effect a little bit we’re going to show you that with the okay so uh Tate has a 2-year-old son y and a 6-month-old son yes what happens when your 2-year-old

Comes and jumps on our trampoline how high does he get not very high how come he’s too light he’s too light yeah and those Springs are too compressed right oh yeah but if I jump what happens if you jump I can get real high why cuz I’m

Heavy exactly so you but what would happen so for your son to actually get some good spring yeah he would need a very like loose compression softer Springs much softer Springs yeah whereas if you got on a really soft trampoline straight to the bottom I’m hitting the I’m yeah I’m busting something bottoming

Out are you going to actually launch no no but a really tight compression are you launching oh yeah I can get up there oh yeah exactly that same exact principle applies to golf balls so this is a prov1 which is a a prov1x which is

A tour hard golf ball here’s a 20 120 mph swing spe or ball speed and um that’s what would you say probably low 90s yeah low 90s low 90s driver speed and look at the shape of the golf ball it’s not really it’s fairly circular it’s compressing a little bit but if we

Think about that trampoline effect it’s not springing in enough to really launch it it’s not really launching it the way it needs to be but if we go over to the 175 mph B speed this is like a 115 to 120 and look at this thing this thing’s

Like more like an oval shape like an egg look at the difference in shapes between those two so now that that hard ball can be fully compressed it’s going to launch in order to create this kind of compression with a slow swing speed the ball needs to be squishier yeah or

Softer right right and then it’s going to actually launch and go yeah but you’re saying to yourself well Trevor if slow swing speeds press a ball better wouldn’t it just keep on going in principle like with a tour guy couldn’t he just hit the crap out of a ball and

It Go 400 yards a really soft squishy ball would you think yeah but the problem is those really really soft balls create a lot more spin yeah so they’re going to be more spinny for a tour guy and in fact you get to a point where you can start to lose yardage when

You’re swinging too fast cuz you’re going to generate too much spin with that high club head speed yeah so that’s that basically the fundamental idea in principle Titus obviously does a lot of research on this they’re saying that with their ball designs that doesn’t really matter but um you know swing

Speeds don’t really matter with ball technology these days that that’s not a huge difference it just goes off a feel we’re going to get on the putting green and see which one feels better are we supposed to just take their word for that or should no let’s test it okay I

Want to see if we lose yardage with a squishy ball I just happen to have a glove glove ready me too so the thing is is if if what we’re fast swing speeds Tate’s around 110 I’m I’m around 105 107 so if we lose yardage with the squishy ball

Then the reverse must be true right cuz we don’t have any slow swing Speeders here to test it yeah but we’re going to test wedge shots and my guess is is the softball is going to give us more green side spin yeah should it should give us more green side spin

Actually should give us more spin throughout yeah throughout all three clubs but it’s going to really start to be a disadv advantage to us with driver I think we’re going to be fine with irons and wedges yeah so we’re going to test this with a driver with a seven

Iron so a mid iron and a wedge yes 60° and this is why I think this Ball’s going to be so cool is off the club face minus the soft feel of the ball the shell is the same and there’s just not that many golf balls that have that

Perfect marriage of the high quality Tour ball but a soft feel of a more affordable golf ball and puts you right in that sweet spot price-wise which if our test proves true is really big deal because probably 80% of golfers need to be if they want a premium ball this is

The ball they need to be in like if if you’re okay spending $50 on a ball or a dozen balls that doesn’t mean you should buy the Tour ball if the softball is going to give you better performance is really what majority of golfers should

Be doing only one way to find out if that’s true let’s test it okay so I’m starting out with my 60° wedge the green set at 50 yard so it’s really just a nice smooth swing to try and see how much spin we generate with the same swing with the softball not the

Actual soft ball but the qar the divide and then the hard Tour ball all right 50 yards Trev now we switch you to the Tour ball switching to the Tour ball that one felt very good with the wedge felt great this definitely has more of a crispier

Feel to it this ball that’s the best way I could describe it it’s like crispy like a Crispy Cream dut yeah I mean it does not it doesn’t feel like a rock it still feels soft that uane cover cover is what does that but it definitely feels like it’s

Reacting off the club face a little more sure sure but maybe it’s just me maybe it’s in my head all right Tour ball 50 yards okay so we’re really on a wedge we’re really just focusing on personal preference of feel uh which is subjective to the individual and spin

Rate really yeah cuz I don’t think you’re notice you know everything’s fairly close and you can see our spin rate is less than 50 RPMs apart yeah so it’s basically 7,800 RPMs and that’s what my guess is the deeper we go with the club the bigger the difference the

Bigger the difference in in the ball around the greens I don’t think you’ll feel a ton of difference spin was comparable of course if we took out you know a couple M hits in here in both ways they’re basically neck and neck so far they’re very very similar from 50

Yards again it’s like different players hit different shots different feel yeah so a 50 yard shot it’s very like Trevor said it’s very P personal feel I think we got to hit a seven iron let’s go with seven iron okay let’s do it and I think why they were so similar around the

Green is they have the same urethane cover yeah so when you’re not really compressing the ball they have the same shell on them that’s a really good point all right so we have the green at 190 um we should get there when we stripe them

Pure here in Denver we’re at 5200 ft um but this is where I I have a niche feeling kind of like Trevor said is this is where we’ll start to see a difference between the two balls how do feel not bad you don’t play

A ball that soft at all so no it def you can feel it a little soft like that one wasn’t a great stroke or a great strike but it still felt pretty soft okay so the seven iron data is in Trevor tell us what we’re looking at not

A huge difference the XV was faster about 2 mph faster ball speed right which should happen cuz we’re swinging fast spin is again close we actually had more spin with the XV and uh got about three more yards out of it two two more yards a carry so we’re starting to see a

Difference but again even with iron play not a huge difference right click Club data oh nothing stickered so but I but it’s the same exact Club so our club head speed should have been exactly the same yeah we around 90 yeah 90 with 92 all right now this is where I think

We’re going to see a huge difference okay here we go Green’s at 300 we’re hitting the soft one first we’re playing our drivers that’s in the bag right you’re hitting your yep G your gamer gamer now this is where I expect to be punish the most by the softball right

Yep cuz I’m swinging I’m swinging my normal swing okay so the data is in and the data do doesn’t lie and just like we thought it’s really the driver that makes a big difference yeah irons and wedges not so much so is it legal if I

Wanted to just play the hard Tour ball off the T box and then change you’re not allowed to do that mhm shoot okay okay let’s get into it 5 m hour faster ball speed and that is strictly only because of that trampoline effect on the dot too and we were

Averaging about 107 mph Club head speed yeah launch is about the same spin was close the um the uh harder ball actually was a little more spinning and now maybe I have that wrong we’re trying to learn ourselves we’re amateurs and we’re we’re doing these tests sometimes for

Ourselves yeah to figure out which one’s going to work for us yeah about 300 more RPMs in spin but because it’s 5 m an hour faster launching off that club face what’s the end result 10 yard further carry 10 yards carry that’s a lot and N9 ydd further roll out roll out

10 yards 10 yards that’s a big difference that’s a big difference for amateurs that’s a for me like if you’re approaching a green and you’re the difference between a six iron and a seven iron or seven and an eight that’s a huge difference huge difference six

Iron can’t hit it mm- yeah seven iron I can sometimes hit it yeah for sure so that does they don’t think 10 yards is a big deal that’s big deal yeah and um I don’t think you’re really sacrificing much around the greens with it no so how

About uh let’s should we roll a few few putts let’s do a few putts so that’s what we’re saying if you’re slow or Club head speed you need to be able to compress that ball the only reason Tate and I are compressing the harder ball is because we’re swinging so fast Let Me

Line this up yeah go ahead is that a cookie yeah I’m using my new golf ball marker from Bing golf balls they sent us some nice yeah so if you need to generate the ball speed and you swing under 95 milph you absolutely will gain probably 5 to 10

Yards real quick though that line is right so if you miss this it’s on you oh okay let me concentrate you will gain 5 to 10 yards playing a softer golf ball with a moderate swing speed push I didn’t see that break there I don’t think you lined me up right I’m

Just want to get a feel off of the face definitely firmer feel off the face yeah that’s my ball really you try one I’ll go the opp that’s what I’m telling you guys take the ego out of it if you’re playing Prov v1s and you don’t swing fast anymore that prov1 needs to

Be put away immediately and you need to find yourself a soft ball that still has a urethane cover there’s not that many of them out there the qar tour is one of them it’s really the ball you should be playing 80 to 90% of average golfers

Need to be playing a softer ball you shouldn’t be playing a prov1 shouldn’t be playing a tp5 get that in your mind shouldn’t be playing a tp5 shouldn’t be playing a STX on Z star to the qar on top of all of that you’re going to save

Yourself money yeah but you don’t have to yell at the people right the ball’s going to go further and you’re going to save money what am I missing it feels softer off the putter that’s for sure I didn’t notice a huge difference on the putter it’s definitely good enough it’s

Softer feeling but a roll difference I don’t know if youd notice a roll difference okay final thoughts are if you don’t swing it fast or you’re getting up there or you know you just don’t have it in the tank put away the pro put away the ego and buy a ball that

Fits your your needs okay so a lot of you guys out there maybe you work at a pro shop you work at a big box store you have other experiences with these balls drop them in the comment section below because a lot of the viewers yeah a lot

Of the viewers read the comments so if you have something helpful or you know a note that you’d like to share put it in the comments below it helps us out a ton it helps the other viewers out a ton if you have your little take on hard versus

Is soft we’ll see you guys next time thanks for watching

  1. Thanks for this golfball review. I have recently started using the Q Star Tour Devide Red & Yellow, and I really like the ball flight and distance. With my 95 MPH swing speed, they just work for me. Keep the videos coming guys.

  2. Great video! I recently started using the Bridgestone Tour B RX. They’re made for swing speeds under 105mph.

  3. Love the videos. I can’t stand the colored balls, do they come in white? If not do you have a recommendation of a ball that is white? Thanks

  4. I use the Divide orange / yellow balls and LOVE them i am 59 years old and a 94 mph swing speed 8 handicap also love the NEW 2024 AVX TITLEIST and Callaway ERC Soft those are my 3 favorite golf balls In the spring time and fall time i use the Srixon softfeel or the Callaway supersoft great review boys well done cheers from Vulcan Canada

  5. Love the topic. I think you need to look at the intensive research that Mygolfspy has done with golf balls. As I always say firmer is longer. Take a basketball. One fully inflated and one slightly less inflated. Drop from 10 feet and the fully inflated will always bounce higher. Your test really needs someone who is swinging in the high 80's to low 90's. This is where I live and my independent tests show the firmer ball always goes further again. I have also had a professional golf ball fitting (TXG) and my fit ball is the Prov1x or the Srixon XV

  6. I’m curious with the color, I always lose the golf ball in the sky. Does the divide color make it easier to see in the sky? Also do you recommend specific ‘golf’ sunglasses?

  7. Good video guys. My swing speed is right at 100mph. I tend to go with the Vice Pro or the Wilson Triad. But if I'm not swinging it well that weekend, I'll pull my Wilson Optix out because loosing them doesn't hurt over the better more expensive ball I like…. Keep it up guys!

  8. Great point! I float around 105 mph with the big stick but yet my ball of choice is the Chrome soft, less side spin, good distance. I have played the higher compression golf balls and for me the higher compression a golf ball has the more side spin it could generate off the big stick, not all, but most. They are doing some amazing things with golf balls these days to manage the spin/distance on all clubs in the bag. I prefer a softer feeling ball that gives me the distance of a higher compression ball. I’m pumped to see what Callaway developed with the new line of Chrome soft balls, the new tour ball could be the best of both worlds. Great video guys!

  9. I just started golf last year, I play super soft. Love them feel great. I'm not paying 60 per box since I'll just send em into the woods

  10. I hover around 102mph-105mph swing speed. If I really get after it I can hit 107mph. I feel like I’m in a weird spot. I love Srixon Z Star XV’s. But I played the other day with the Blue Bridgestone and when I got after it, it felt amazing. If I miss hit it, it felt like I hit a rock. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 thanks for doing the hard hitting work here.

  11. Great info guys…any other ball fit in that category spec besides the TaylorMade and Srixon? Both fit my swing speed but curious if I have similar balls at home already in my ever growing inventory.
