Do you need a gap wedge this is such a common question I get from golfers um let’s think about it differently we we don’t need what we don’t need is gaps so we don’t need a wedge here that goes X distance so I hit it and it goes

Whatever that’s going to go 50 yards 55 yards so that’s one of my clubs hit kind of nice and medium and then I grab the next Club up from whatever this club is and I hit it the same kind of speed and feelings and this one goes whatever this

Goes 85 yards it’s quite a big gap you don’t want big gaps you want to be working around 10 to 15 yards between each Club in different distances so do you need a gap wedge well if you have a gap yes you’ll need a gap wedge and if

It’s down near your wedge end then it’s called a gap wedge so you don’t need any gaps if you got a gap between your 7 ir and 8 I that needs plugin with something if you’ve got a gap between your wedge and your next wedge yet it needs Plugin

Or a hybrid and a hybrid doesn’t matter what it says on the bottom so they give you an idea this is my 58 degree which I can hit about 100 yards flat flat out but then I have a 52 which I can hit 100

Yards to5 to 120 15 20 yards is kind of my Max Gap at the most this is like 100 to 105 if I want it to be really it’s around 90 yards so I’ve just got no gaps in my distance I’ve got clubs that fill

It so i’ got 58 52 then I’ve got two wedges I don’t even know what they’re called I just know them by their distance they’ve both got P pitching wedge written on the bottom so do you need a gap wedge if you’ve got a gap and

It’s down in your short iron area wedge area then yeah you need something to fill it if you can afford it because the less you have to manipulate wedges the better generally golfers are the more they can hit their stock shot and not hit harder and softer ones for the

Average golfer they actually find that easier in most cases anything that makes golf easier putting a gap wedge in there take that advantage

  1. A few years back, I used to hit my 55* SW from the fairway and even tee box. Now I only use the SW and LW for specialty and high flop shots. Anything under 100 yards my rule of thumb is my 45* PW unless conditions dictate otherwise. For me a GW would be a wasted club. In fact the SW and LW are the least used clubs in my bag unless I need that specialty shot

  2. I miss the 90's when you just had a PW and maybe a SW. If you needed to hit a 50, 60, 70 yard or whatever you just took a shorter swing. It is more about feel and, to be honest, i don't want to swing 100% to hit an 80 yard pin. I also like being able to carry a 3W, 5W and a hybrid.

  3. I have 2 gap wedges! But yes a stock PW in an iron set is going to be about 43 degrees? If your Sand Wedge is say 54-56 degrees, of course you will need a 'gap' wedge of about 50 degrees or so. So yes you need a gap wedge.

  4. The strike for me is most consistent at a full swing so I have quite a tight gapping in the bottom end to avoid partial swing shots. Sacrificed a gap at top end but as they are usually tee to fairway or fairway to layup range clubs i dont need to gaps as tight as when going for the greens

  5. Mine were 50, 56, 64, but the 56 sent into the water hazard, the 64 went lost…i picked up a 60, and just try to manufacture whatever shot I need…I find my 7 wood becoming important again, however…
